We drove over 20 minutes to get there and spent 30$ for 2 sandwich’s along with being charged for extras we didn’t even get .
I ordered a sensi kush( blt) I wanted onions and no tomatoes ! With extra mayo and garlic butter I got NO ONIONS with tomatoes!
My mom ordered a Midwest best no tomatoes no onions extra sauce and she got onions and tomatoes on top and it was dry . We already had the patience waiting and the staff was goofing around then had to take the sandwich back cause I was missing all main toppings just to fix it and still miss my toppings ??! On top of we’re both allergic to tomatoes! Complete waste of my 30$ in this rough economy already , I Called the restaurant they want me to drive another 33 minutes back cause our sandwiches all went to seperate homes ( we don’t live together ) to replace it otherwise they can’t help me or even recall how the sandwich was made ! I learned that I am not a good client for this place. The metal music at this location is way too loud. Can't have any semblance of conversation except between songs the subs were slight I mean not much filling. The bacon was so thin it was practically transparent and there were mushroom fragments on The Kind that I ordered. Last night I parked in the parking lot next to Cheba Hut and went across the street for 5 minutes. When walking back to my car it was being towed. The driver claimed it was for Cheba Hut only and that we didn’t go in to Cheba Hut. The lot is posted at private parking but only certain spots say for Cheba Hut only, which was not a spot we parked in. The driver said Cheba Hut is cracking down on people who park there. This was totally unprofessional and I felt extremely targeted. Do better Cheba Hut. I was parking there for 5 minutes and I go to Cheba Hut all the time. Never again. How can you justify doing this to your own community when I am parked there for literally 5 minutes. This is not a business I would recommend ever supporting again. The driver let my car off the truck for $50 cash. Unprofessional and extremely shady.

Unfortunately, despite their great sandwiches, I have to leave a negative review because the other night my car was wrongfully towed to some ghetto lot in Glendale (Apy's Cars @ 4030 W Douglas Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53209). I was picking up a carryout order and parked in the appropriate customer parking lot around midnight. I was in there for less than 5-10 minutes and I walk out to find my only ride home gone. I was in the building the entire time yet the tow truck operator AND Cheba manager felt the need to lie about my whereabouts and the security footage Cheba's manager even showed me - I never left the premises nor recalled anyone coming in to check about the vehicle before hauling it away. I also have a receipt with my Cheba order and timestamp of order. You need to find a better tow company to partner with if this is apparently a recurring problem w Apy's taking people's cars for no reason. I ended up shelfing over $400 for something that shouldn't have happened in the first place nor was my fault. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to operate a tow truck.

I have come here a lot over the years and I feel like I've had multiple experiences of forgotten ingredients from the sandwiches. I got the powerplant and it was missing the avocado and had very little hummus on it. Subs are increasingly thinner and sad looking. Forgotten ingredients are common and no $4 extra meat gets added anymore - and they lied saying we would get refunded for the missing extra meat last time…

Bread is also regularly soggy now, subs barely get toasted, and you can expect grease drips to come out of your takeout paper bag these days.

They prompt you for table service level tips, so it’s even more disappointing to have this quality in return.

Used to recommend this place, but I’m starting to avoid it. 😕

I emailed them to let them know that the $40 for 2 sandwiches was way to much this time since we received all bread and sauce with barely any thing else. There are some 14 year old kids that regularly sit at the bar until way past 9pm unattended on school nights. 08/31/24 - Saturday night. They closed earlier than their posted hours, yet left the OPEN sign lit and on. One of the employees was standing outside smoking with several clearly intoxicated underage girls. He was also standing there directly facing the lit open sign. He was completely rude and dismissive when we came to the doors only to find them locked and asked him about it. He just said yeah I probably forgot to turn it off. Probably? Too busy with the drunk kids to care or show any professionalism apparently.

I've been a relatively frequent visitor of Cheba Hut ever since I went to the one in Madison some years ago. I always get the Panama Red with half the chicken, striking a perfect balance of meat and ingredients, with two cups of jamacan red hot sauce that pairs PERFECTLY with chicken of any cut. The garlic bread bun is a must-have, and the cookies are a fine finish, and big enough to split in half to save for later or share with a loved one.

I've had my share of lesser experiences there, but recently I've had nothing but a string of happy experiences. Everything is reasonably priced for the amount of food you get, and the atmosphere alone is a meal to take in. The stoner/psychadelic aesthetic is a hard one to execute without it feeling tacky or too-much, but the murals that spread over the walls by the bar are excellent and the merchandise is made with a surprising amount of detail and charm.

I do wish the wifi at the Oakland location was better, though, it's the only thing at present that holds the experience back as a whole. Other than that, it's a place I rarely hesitate to go out of my way to visit. I wish there was one downtown!

Fun place to go! I normally don't go for toasted subs, but I have seen the error of my ways 😅. I ordered a La Canna without the olives it was better than dare I say it Cousins' ItaIian Special. I immediately spit out the remaining bites and throw the sandwich back on to the plate. My friend witnessed this turn of events. I run into my bathroom, and vomit all of my food, and in my vomit I noticed four or more worms in my vomit. I have a documented picture of the sandwich as well as the worm that was in my sandwich. I am emotionally, and physically distraught, and disturbed from the following incident. My appetite is not the same as before because of this incident also, it cost me to seek medical.

However, I could not wait any longer for the sandwich to be remade because I was on a timeframe, so I took the sandwich and left back to work. When I got to work I took two bites of the sandwich, and then I waited until I got off of work for the sandwich to be remade.  At 3:30pm when I got off of work at riverside, I went to Cheba hut for the Cali miss 8 inch sub to be remade. And there were little to no people in the restaurant the same sandwich-maker was there, When I came in at on my break at 12:30pm. At 3:30pm the employee remade my sandwich as requested and I took that and left. I got home around 4 o’clock PM & I ate the other half of my 8 inch sandwich wrapped the in the aluminum foil. I placed the other half in my refrigerator. When a couple of hours went by at 1 o’clock AM I took the other half of the sandwich, back out of my refrigerator and I began to eat it. On my last bites, I noticed a worm moving on the garlic herb bread. I immediately spit out the remaining bites and throw the sandwich back on to the plate. My friend witnessed this turn of events. I run into my bathroom, and vomit all of my food, and in my vomit I noticed four or more worms in my vomit. I have a documented picture of the sandwich as well as the worm that was in my sandwich. My partner was hospitalized for a Gi tract infection caused by ecoli . We are pretty positive he got it from a rancid sub he ate at Cheeba Hut on Oakland. We have contacted the restaurant only to be ghosted . Now we have made a complaint to the health department. I just wanna warn before it happens to someone else . When my favorite restaurant closed down at Crossroads Collective last spring, I was in a bit of a rut when it came to great food at a reasonable price. Then a friend took me here. The subs are amazing. Probably the best I've ever tasted. I usually get them delivered when I'm at work, but when I've eaten in, it has been a pleasant experience all around. Love the theme and the people that work there! My only negative experience is getting a bit messy, but that's a good thing, because these subs are the real deal.
