Nothing to write home about and I'm not sure I would call it worth the price. I ordered the shore lunch ($15 for a fish sandwich and a handful of fries) to go. I saw on Facebook that they had switched from whitefish to walleye and was super excited. I know fish have bones, but after taking just 2 bites, I had to disassemble the sandwich and eat the components separately because there were a ridiculous amount of bones that had to be picked out. By the time I was done, I had at least 14 bones in the takeout container. I wanted to enjoy it so bad, but I just couldn't.
The person I ate with had the steak melt ($16.50). At 2:30 am, I had to go out to the truck and get a bottle of Pepto Bismol because he was unable to leave the bathroom and get it himself, if you know what I mean.
Total for both dinners and two soft drinks was $39.XX. I don't think I would go there again.

I gave a 5 star rating because our food and service was excellent tonight. We ordered the fish tacos and white fish dinner with the Bloody Mary Dip appetizer and a couple of cocktails. Sam did a great job taking care of us out on the deck. My only constructive comment is when we eat at what I consider a higher end restaurant, I would prefer linen napkins. I don't particularly enjoy using a paper napkin after it has been tightly wrapped around my silverware. The lemon aioli fish sauce was tasty but when served in a mini "plastic" cup, that also took away from the overall presentation of the lovely meal on the plate. Not meaning to be critical. Just an observation trying to be helpful. Presentation is key in my book when looking for a place to enjoy an A-1 positive experience when dining out.

Quite disappointed with the service and the food. We waited quite some time for a spot at outdoor seating. That part was okay but staff didnt seem to be communicating well about us. 2 servers? Brought us the wrong appetizer right away. Then brought us food with no utensils or napkins. The food was okay. Nothing great. My husbands fish tacos were very effortless and boring. Food was far too expensive for what was served. Burgers had greasy finger prints on the bun. We didnt complain to management as we were just very tired and hungry. The server was very aware we were disappointed and could have made some effort or offered and apology. Our tab was almost $100 we would have been more satified going to Subway. 10 out of 5 stars! Such a great experience celebrating my 30th birthday and my sister-in-law's engagement. The food was FANTASTIC, I shared the surf & turf with my husband and the ceaser salad. The ribeye and shrimp were cooked to perfection. We all shared the swedish dessert and OMG was it to live for! Sam was our server and he was the cherry on top of the sundae. Super disappointed. Chose this restaurant because of the lobster Mac and scallops on the post. Both are my husbands fav and it was his birthday. Menu had neither available...because of Covid of course 🙄. Anyway they wouldn’t give us fried shrimp with the surf and turf even though they offer fried shrimp on the menu. Then the steak was overcooked we had to wait for a replacement on this sizzler quality steak. Not even a drink was compensated for the wait. Epic fail. My husbands birthday is super important for me. Fine dining at a Best Western Hotel? Wife and I were skeptical but later pleased we listened to the recommendation of a waitress at a diner a few towns away. Excellent service and meal suggestions by bartender/server Sam. He pours a mean Old Fashioned, an amply accessorized Bloody Mary and was a gracious host. Incredibly polite and fast service, we got our food about ten minutes after ordering! Food tasted great, we had the fish tacos, fish and chips and crab legs. The only downsides were that the crab legs were a little cold and the chairs we so squishy that it made you sink down so low which made the table feel super tall and awkward to eat at. We were asked if we wanted to either sit inside or out and we chose inside even though there were multiple people outside and no one inside. After the hostess sat us at a table we were completely ignored by the hostess and three waitresses. We are from out of town and were looking to have a date night out in Ashland. We saw conflicting reviews on Yelp and google but decided to give this place a shot anyway.

Upon first impression, everything looks bright and clean. It’s a stark contrast to the aesthetic walking down the stairs with elegant wood and marine type decor to renovated-cafeteria vibes in the restaurant.

The views on the deck were beautiful and a true gem. My husband was excited to see a beer from a local brewery on tap (we stopped at the actual brewery earlier and they were out of that particular one, so that was a nice surprise). The wait staff was nice and accommodating. We sat on the patio but it was chilly and they let us know we could move inside at any time (which we did).

Unfortunately, the food wasn’t great. I had the fish tacos with help deciding from the waitress. They were good, but the tortilla chips served as a side were pretty stale. My husband debated between the steak and chicken entrees and ultimately decided on the chicken partially due to cost. While the chicken was fine, the Brussels sprouts had a distinct acetone flavor. The thick cut bacon was spongy and clearly reheated. Finally, the rice pilaf was mushy and tasted like a microwave pouch meal.

We were disappointed to find ourselves adding to the low star reviews for this restaurant. Next time, we will stick with drinks on the patio.

The batter on the calamari was VERY salty and dipping was poor in taste; lobster/spinach dip was good but bread was not grilled and sweet in taste and did not go well with dip. The bread for sandwich's (steak and the chicken with brie) was limp and poorly grilled; fish fingers limp and the dipping was bitter and poor. This place was one of our prior favorites in Ashland, but these items that we tried (there were 3 of us) lacked the "specialness" for the asking price. We will not be coming back and we are glad we didn't invite a friend to join us.

I will just say that the staff at the Grill (and the BW hotel) have been outstanding! We’ve stayed here for business and I’ve very much enjoyed getting to know everyone who works here (Brittany, Katie, Emily, Annemarie, Andy, Aliyah, Bailey, Brooke, Kailee, Nikki, Kasey, Kayla, and Morgan). The food is fantastic; everything I’ve tried has been delicious. And the view is the best in town! I definitely hope work will bring me back here soon!

I’m from Kansas City and was so excited to come see the lake! Me and my family decided to stop and eat here because it does indeed have a fantastic view! We were seated and IGNORED for 30 minutes. Finally someone came and asked us if we had been helped yet. (We didn’t even have our drinks yet.) Our waitress came out 10 minutes later to get our drinks. Absolutely no other waitress stepped in to check on us either. We sat there the majority of the time just waiting. We nicely complained to our waitress and asked for the manager and she told us that she was the only manager there. LOL. The manager was the one giving us this bad of service???? I brought my mom and daughter and two grandsons from MO up to see the beautiful bay on Lake Superior. We were directed to this new bar/grill as one of two with lake views. My 1 star rating is for the patio view alone. Our service was the worst any of us had ever received. We waited 20 minutes-literally-to be greeted and asked if we had a server yet. This server then left saying she’d get us one, 5 more minutes and our server came to take our drink order, 5 more minutes until she brought the drinks then proceeded to spill one of the ice waters from the tray all over my 4-year old grandsons’ head! Our server returns and asks if we are ready to order, which we say yes to having already been here over 30 minutes, but she had to go back in to get her pen and tablet 1st, 5 more minutes then we get to order. As we’re waiting on food, we notice at least 3 other tables seated after us receive their food, one even finishes and leaves. We’re never even asked if we’d like a drink refill while we’re waiting. At this point all our patience is worn very thin so I went in to ask to speak with a manager. I ran into our server 1st so asked her and she said she’s the only managerial person there at the moment! I told her all of the same things ^ and it would be nice if we could get a discount, which being our server she should’ve already known. She said she could probably give us a partial discount. Back out to wait 10 more minutes when the food arrives. Mom’s walleye had a bone in it, the rest of the food was just ok. WAY overpriced for food quality and especially for inferior service. A bunch of inexperienced kids. The price point at this place implies some level of quality, professionalism, experience. None of those existed here. Even for a Saturday dinner. Decent location with a recent remodel, but completely disorganized, poor service. We'll be going elsewhere.

We were there with another couple and had a terrific experience. The remodel isn't quite finished, but the food is clearly ready to go. We ordered the crab cake appetizer and I had the Scallops Benedict which was delicious! My husband ordered the asparagus chicken burger and we had swedish creme for dessert. Yum

The sunset changed a dozen times while we ate... breathtaking.
