Was very excited to have Chili John's chili hoping it was just like the Chili John's recipe that used to be in Green Bay. The extremely friendly waiter said it was better. It was not! It was very runny and tasted like watered down Hormel. The hand cut fries which he also recommended were hard & lacked seasoning. The hamburger however was very good with a perfectly toasted bun and perfectly grilled onions. The place is older & a bit run down, but it had character and a fun atmosphere.

Today we had some amazing food!!! We started with some coffee and conversation. Order the country bacon, (2 eggs, potatoes and bacon). The food filled the large plate, toast was family style. Service was great and if you go a couple of times they know your name!!!! Definitely need to hit for breakfast and lunch!!!

I was pleasantly surprised when I visited Chili John's Cafe. This is a family-run and staffed establishment with great personalities that make the atmosphere very enjoyable. The well seasoned grill and the chef/owner make the food taste fantastic. Liquor is available if you want a drink with your meal. Seating is available at the counter or tables.
If you're in the area, stop in for a visit. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

We are from out of town and love a good small town food spot. The staff are really kind. The price is really affordable and amazing. We didn’t know it was cash only and they were very understanding and kind about it letting me run to get cash. We will definitely be back next time we are town.

The food was okay, big portions but the liver and onions were over seasoned and I could not eat them. This is a "one man shop" and the service was VERY slow. When I asked if they had cream gravy without sausage, I got lectured about the history of the restaurant and how they have always made their gravy instead of a simple answer.

Just had an excellent cheeseburger (hand formed patty cooked and seasoned beautifully with a fresh, tasty bun), fries (fresh cut potatoes fried to perfection) and chili (good, spicy, flavorful as you should expect from a good diner).

It is an older location but everything is well maintained and spotlessly clean. Even the bathrooms.

I am a burger addict and Chili John's has one of the best burgers you can find. The restaurant is an icon in the Beaver Dam community. Don't expect a big fancy place inside, but it's reasonably clean, prices are fair, and there is not usually much of a wait. Stop by for a great burger and a bit of local history.
