Chips is one of the oldest fast food places in marshfield, and there is many reasons it stands the test of time. The ice cream is monsterous and it tastes phenomenal especially being soft serve. The burgers haven't changed keeping the same great taste you remember as a kid. The fries are well known to be the best in town, and they are sold by the pound! Bring your appetite, and bring your kids as well. The burgers are simple, and the kids just love them.

We ate supper at the Marshfield restaurant in early September of 2025. There are also restaurants in Merrill and Wisconsin Rapids if your in those areas. The dining area closed at 8pm, and we arrived 15 minutes before that. The staff were nice, and still served our group of 5 even though they were closing. The dining area was nice, clean, nostalgic, and what you would expect from a fast food restaurant. Sandwiches were very good, fries were great.

Good burgers and fries. We stopped here rather drive up the road to Culvers. Food was similar. It is a small townish diner that looks like a former McDonalds (the floor tiles give it away). It could be cleaner, but the staff was friendly and enjoying their jobs. Prices are on par with expectations.

Great burger place. Prices are still pretty ok and they make a decent burger. Love the old school diner aesthetic. Only complaint is I asked for a root beer shake but they gave me a float. I kinda figured they would though since everyone's eyes glazed over when I asked for a root beer shake. It's not hard, you make a float... and then... you mix it. Oh well, I'll still be back.

I have gone to chips several times and was very happy. I went there this evening got home with my meal the Jr Champ was good but I could not eat my onion ring they were burnt so when you bit into they the fell apart. You can’t tell me when they put them in the bag they could see this.

The place was clean. The cashier was very helpful. He recommended the bacon cheeseburger meal. Their prices were reasonable and not too expensive. The hot beef sandwich with cheese was flavored well. The corn dog was good. The fries 🍟 were good and not salty seasoned just right. I would recommend coming here for a quick bite to eat.

If George Motz (burger scholar) hasn't been here yet, I'll have to say its everything he would say makes for a perfect burger. There isn't one specific thing that makes it a great burger, its everything that is equally great that went into making it.

I got just two regular cheese burgers, and a small fry.

The buns!! the buns are often so over looked. These are perfect! OKAY, so that's the thing that stood out to me, but everything else about the burger was equally great. Its just to say that MOST burgers that get almost everything right, so often its the bun that gets skimped on.

Well to start I had a bad feeling when I saw the sign saying we have changed ownership. They were no longer accepting any coupons or any mail loads that were sent out however that does not pertain to me. What did pertain to me was the hot beef sandwich that turned out to be a package of Carl Buddig beef I think on a cheap hamburger bun that I paid 9 bucks for the fries were absolutely nasty I feel like when the owners took over. They got rid of the good stuff and started using cheaper stuff to make more money which is crap because there's only two or three chips left in the state of Wisconsin if you're feeling hungry I would suggest that you pass on chips and find a good restaurant that serves decent food. I guess good flavor is a thing of the past

Has potential to to really look like an old hamburger stand which would be cute but inside has been remodeled which made it lose any hopes of that. Employees were slammed an 3 in the afternoon on a Sunday. 1 burger cook, one on fries, one on drive thru and a cashier. All which were busy so no one was able to get my food as I watched my food sit under the lights for almost 5 minutes. I didn’t care for the sauce on the burger. Just tasted like a ketchup mustard mix. I do not care for mustard. Fries were the skinny crinkle cuts. Would have been good if they hadn’t sat so long. Prices were fair. I was too full to try the ice cream but a lot of people were getting cones so it must be good. I would try it again. Hold the sauce.

Updated Menu photo for the Negative Nancy's who don't understand that a third party posts the menu and prices on Google unless it says "Updated by owner." These companies do not check for changes regularly. Photos also state when they were shared so any semi-intelligent person would know that a photo from over a year ago probably doesn't reflect the current pricing.

Food is good but now I have to edit my review, lay off on the mayo its too much that cannot be 90% of your sandwiches that use mayo a little bit on the bun is all you need. I do not need a glop of it on my lap because you decided to chat with your friends while putting mayo on sandwiches. Its a great price but if I wanted a sandwich with my mayo I'd go home and put it on I would like mayo on my sandwich not a literal mayo sandwich that may have the essence in flavor of chicken or beef haha!

We were coming to Marshfield from two hours away to an appointment at the hospital and I was really looking forward to this place. My wife and I both ordered the double bacon cheese burger meals. At the Marshfield location nothing but teenagers work there. While the food was good, the guy that took our order was very rude. We're from out of town and we're placing a large order. I ordered a number 12, told him what I wanted on my burger then that I wanted a large fry and drink, he sighed loudly the started pushing the buttons angrily. He then said in an irritated voice "tell me what size you need then the combo number". I said "I'm sorry. I've never been here before". He continued to be rude the rest of the time he helped us. Then one of the girls filling our order dropped one of the burgers on the floor. She told the guy making the burgers that she needed another one since she dropped it. He started asking how it landed and did it open up. The girl stood her ground and said she needed a new burger since it fell on the gloor so he made a new one. I was just appalled that one of the people making the food would be ok sending out food that had fallen on the floor.

I have never had a really good cheap double cheeseburger in my life until I found Chips. The burger was outstandingly tasty and affordable. The place reminds me of one of those old fast food restaurants in the past and made me feel nostalgic in a good way. After a good meal I wanted to try their soft serve ice cream cone. That was probably the best part after my meal. It was very creamy, had a great vanilla taste, and had a nice presentation when it was given. Sadly, I'm not originally from Wisconsin, but if I were to visit the city of Marshfield again I would definitely grab a bite at chips when I get the chance.
