We use to go here every Friday for fish frys which are good, But some years back they raised their prices astronomically for their fish fry to where people can't afford them much. $20 plus for one is rediculious. Plus 3 or 4% if you use credit to pay plus tip. Almost $60 for 2 people for a mediocre fish fry is unreal. We stopped going there some years now. We went this one time now because it was for a funeral and we didn't have to pay. They lost us forever as well as many others. We now drive to Hartford to the Mineshaft for fish fry. Theirs is all you can eat for only $7.99. And it's great. You can get 3 fish fry for the price of one at Cliffords. It's a little ride, but we'll worth it.

My husband and I had our wedding reception at Clifford’s in 1986. We went back to celebrate our anniversary and we were pleasantly surprised by being able to step back in time. Good food, great prices, friendly service! If you are looking for a genuine, old fashioned supper club vibe complete with retro cocktails and awesome food , this your place. Ive been going to cliffords for years and they always had great fish but since the pandemic i dont know what happened the quality totally went down hill.I ordered 5 cod dinners to go when i got home i was missing fish you are supposed to get 4-5 healthy pieces and what got was a dinner with 1 piece dinners with 2 pieces and the food was ice cold i called and the manager gave me a gift card to replace the dinners. Now a few weeks later i went back and ordered the dinners again face to face with the gift card and when the food came out i checked and again i was shorted pieces of fish i had to send it back to get the correct amount. I went back a few months later and ordered the dinners again got it home the fish were just nugget size fish and very over cooked. I dont know who they have for a cook but this is ridiculous for the amount of money they are asking its not worth it anymore im never going back

We used to love this place, we've been going there for years for their AYCE crab leg dinner. We've had a few hit and misses with the quality of the crab but nothing like our last visit. For starters, the owner/manager was on site going over ways to cut cost, like blowing out the table candles? Strange but ok. We've had crab legs more times than we can count here and then they brought out a huge tablet to force us to watch a 3 min you tube video on how to Crack crab, they stated to help reduce waste. It's important to note 2 other tables ordered the ayce and not one of those tables was subjected to the video tutorial, also strange. The worst part is the quality that followed, the crab legs looked like they were on their last day, brown, rubbery, black holes and just not steamed well. We asked our server after the 2nd batch if they would all be this bad and she came back with a plate of perfect legs right away.. almost like they have a pot of bad ones they push until someone complains and another full of good ones, we thought we were on the up and up until the next batch came back with the brown old ones. We had to ask 3 times for the good ones. I understand cutting cost in this economy but we're also spending over 200.00 for 2 people each time, you shouldn't run your business trying to pull one over on people. If you can't afford to serve good quality crab then remove it from the menu. Don't force your poor wait staff to force customers to watch a YouTube video. I don't forsee is going back after going monthly for crab for years. I can't imagine what other areas they are cutting cost in since they are willing to serve bad seafood I'm sure other areas are suffering as well.

This place came highly recommended, so we made reservations assuming it was hard to get a table. The place was empty on a Saturday evening. We started with a basket of stale breadsticks and a martini with a piece of metal shaving in it. Ok, stuff happens, so I let it go with no complaints. When the meal came out, I knew something was not right. My new York strip was 1/4" thick and tasted like the steak i was given in the mess hall back in the 70s. One of the other meals tasted like old meat . 3 people tried it and had to spit it out. The chefs response was : it tasted fine to him. Not sure what's up with this place, but I won't be coming back.

I’ve been going to Cliffords since I was child. Haven’t tried it for a while and decided to stop tonight. It was the worst fish I’ve ever had in my life, it was served lukewarm. The fries were not even the slightest bit warm, it took forever to get our drinks or even water.
Not the waitress’s fault because she was obviously Overworked. The atmosphere used to be like an up north vibe with killer food, and good people around you. We were sat right next to a party of nine that was extremely loud. We were in the corner and because we had so much time to wait m….I was looking around more so. When I looked up, I almost threw up. The vents were so dirty they had about an inch of dirty dust like a half inch long hanging off of them. And the decorations are the exact same from like 30 Years ago! Which made me wonder how much dirt was in those? I mean come on!!!!!! It started when we walked in. The three girls manning the hostess station didn’t even look at us and acknowledge that we were there. Do you think they could’ve said hey how are you? Will be right with you.
Nope!

Once we got our fish fry’s, We couldn’t even eat them. They were that bad! So, we paid $60 for two drinks, two salads and soup. The servers had lots of loose unkept hair flying around unkept and at least 3 of them were wearing skin tight leggings where you can see every nook, cranny and camel toe! Ewww! I would not recommend this place to anyone. It has completely gone downhill. Very disappointed. The recipe is NOT the same! I miss Jack!

We decided to go to Clifford's because it was recommended to Us by a friend, we went and we had the all-you-can-eat fish fry and honestly my local bar makes better fish. We were one of the first people there and other people were getting served before we were. The food was cold and honestly wasn't very good. I most likely will not be back here. I do find it interesting that the owner or whoever it is comments on all the good reviews but doesn't make a comment on the lower star reviews. If it's wait staff that is the issue it should probably be looked into if it's food quality that is the issue it should probably be looked into. But I'll tell you what at $21 a person I feel like the food should be a little bit better than lukewarm.

I have been coming here since the 1980s. Absolutely the best fish fry I’ve ever had. I travel 1000 miles to eat there now when I’m in town visiting. I always make time to stop here. The owner keeps the same recipe (thankfully) no matter how the market sways. THEY HAVE ALL YOU CAN EAT fish everyday they are open! Now my grandkids eat here. Love their fries and Cole slaw!

Went here for dinner with my husband, I ordered the petite filet which was cooked perfect and was really good. My husband ordered the walleye, and while eating it discovered several fish bones, 5 or 6. Mentioned this to the server and showed the bones on the plate and their response was 'Sorry, but at least you know its real fish' and then walked away. For a supper club this is a little sad. I understand that you don't filet and de-bone the fish on site and they come in that way, but this is still one of the worst responses you can give a customer. Still paid the full price for the meal. But most likely wont be back... I don't remember the servers name but this was Thursday (5/29) evening around 7pm.

We decided to stop in for dinner, my husband loves the fish fry. As always his fish fry and my walleye dinner was great. Our disappointment and the reason for the 3 star rating was for the service. Our waitress Kelly did not seem present. It took 10 minutes after being seated before Kelly came over. We knew what we wanted and ordered immediately. We drank water with our meal this evening. We knew my order would take longer to prepare but it was an hour before our dinners arrived. During that hour the bread, my salad, and my soup slowly arrived at the table. My had requested a pitcher of water, that request took 15 minutes. She apologized with a sorry honey. We were disappointed and honestly the dinner rush had not even started yet.

They were understanding and easy to work with when our guests' numbers changed due to weather and air travel.

-The AYCE crab legs were delicious

The Bad:
-Our service was absolutely abhorrent. We sat for twenty minutes before we flagged down a server. Another server showed up and told us "We'll I guess you're my table now." Was unfriendly and entirely uninterested in our patronage.
-We put in our order. Our food didn't come out for another 90 minutes. We waited 20-30 minutes for bottles of beer. To be clear: The diningroom was about 30% full. I witnessed at least four other wait staff conducting operations. We saw two other tables get sat next to us. They placed orders and had food within 30 minutes. Wait times just abysmal.
-We paid in cash. Our server seemed to abscond with what we had given even though we wanted change. We had to find her, and she stated she didn't know we wanted change. Kind of a Day-1 thing you learn as a server is to ask if someone wants change if they give you cash.
-Items were missed. Orders were wrong.

Tremendously disappointed. Very uncomfortable situation to be in as a patron. Unfortunately, the ball was dropped every step of the way. Will not be going back. Can't recommend to friends and family.

I went here based off reviews and was super excited to take my children out for a belated valentines dinner. I made a reservation for 5:30 and arrived at 5:20. I was seated right away, ordered within 10 mins because 3 of the 4 came for all you can eat crab legs. The o other ordered a burger and shrimp. We didn’t get our first platter until 6:35. Mind you we were the first people there, people started coming in after and were being served immediately. We are the first plate as asked for refills, it took until 7:40 for a refill, which by that time I confronted the server and asked to pay for what we ate and to leave. She assured me the food was coming out. Well it did but she stated we had to share a plate of crab legs between 3 people. Again watching dozens of tables being catered to. One of my daughters order 10 fried shrimp which we were told they were colossal shrimp based off the price. They were very heavily coated and were a small to medium size. It was $38 for ten shrimp… $70 a pop for crab legs… My total was $314 for us to eat subpar food which included poor service and long wait times. I bit my tongue paid my bill and chucked it up as a loss and never going there again! I felt extremely out of place and definitely felt as if they acted on the poor service purposely because we did not “blend in”. Absolutely hated the place had the service been better I wouldn’t have said so much but never again will I feel so belittled at a over priced establishment. Do better!

Server Destinee was fantastic. Today was our second time EVER at this restaurant. The first time was about 4 or 5 weeks ago. We sat down and Destinee asked my wife if she wanted and old fashioned. We were blown away because my wife ordered an old fashioned last time. Then this, she asked my son if he was having another open faced turkey sandwich! I about fell out of my chair. He ordered that the first time too! I asked how she could possibly remember that she said she remembered us because we were nice to her last time. You gotta be kidding! I tried finding an email because I'd rather give feedback directly to the restaurant owners in hopes they can talk to kitchen staff before blasting them on here. But alas, I'm reviewing on here.

My mom, grandma, and I went here Friday night as they like trying new supper clubs. We had a lot of issues with our food quality. Our waitress started that very night and I didn't want to overwhelm her with our lackluster food experience. She was working hard and we tipped her well, as food quality wasn't her fault. First off, the restaurant was decently busy but not crazy. Tables were still open and we weren't rushed out, which I appreciate.

Appetizers: We had the rueben rolls. They were SO greasy that the grease was pooled onto the plate. Doesn't kichen staff soak up grease before plating??? We were given blue cheese dressing instead of the traditional 1000 island. I don't think our waitress knew to serve with 1000 Island with rueben, so we had her switch it out [no big deal].

Entrees come with soup and salad as a traditional supper club. Salad was fine with a variety of greens, good plate portion. I wish restaurants would add more variety of veggies like more onion and cuke slices but no big deal.
Downside: The chicken dumpling soup was unflavorful but had good chunks of veggies, chicken pieces, and dumplings. Definately needed more boullion. Clam chowder, however, was good. Flavorful and not stiff/gluey like some flour-based soups can get.

My plate: I had the jagerschnitzel which was FANTASTIC. I love schnitzel and this is the best I've had so far in the city. Right amount of coating and not dried out, flavorful, good mushroom gravy.
Hashbrowns - GROSS. They were crunchy on one side and underdone on the other. Very greasy and mushy. Unpaletable.

My mom: stuffed flounder. It was ice cold when brought out. She tore into the middle just to double-check. Someone forgot to heat it up in its entirety. She received a new portion. Her hasbrowns were also gross like mine - greasy and mushy.

My grandma: her fish still had skin on. As a frequent eater of fish, she's never had that so it was different for her to pick it off. Perhaps the most disappointing thing is that it's served with OIL and not melted butter. It's a Wisconsin supper club! Your menu says "served with melted butter". You don't serve butter-flavored dipping oil. Do better.
Her hasbrowns were actually better cooked - crunchy on both sides and done through, no pools of grease.

Not willing to go back anytime soon, unfortunately. Maybe for the schnitzel.

Cliffords has good food. The family style fish fry is excellent. Cliffords is a classic Wisconsin style supper club, and serves those classic supper club dishes.
Large portions, good quality for most dishes, especially the meat and fish.
Mashed potatoes are instant, so maybe skip those. Thentolls are wonderful. And they make a good old fashioned.
The events at cliffords are always a lot of fun, they have a good karaoke on Friday night after fish fry.
Cliffords is family owned, and has been around for a long time. If you haven't tried it before, give it a shot. The good is quite good and nostalgic. It's a great place for kids as well.

I haven’t been to Clifford’s in a few years but have been going there for over 50 years for their Friday fish fry but will never go there again. Way over priced at $21 per person and food was barely fair. Fish was only okay and fries were terrible. Cole slaw was not good and bread was dry. Only thing really good was the Sprecher’s root beer at $4 a bottle. Only good thing was waitress was very polite and did her job very well. The fish fry I had was all you can eat cod and excellent! The fish were breaded with thin great seasoning and nice and hot with most being good size. The coleslaw and tartar sauce were very good also. The fries were good and above average. I did not try the bread and rolls as I didn't want to fill up on those. They looked fresh however. I sat in the banquet hall that has long tables but there are some tables that seat 2 or 4 people. You can sit in the regular restaurant too if that is your wish for a little more quieter atmosphere. The plate came with 4 medium pieces of fish and a large portion of fries. My wife had the fish dinner, same fish portion as mine, that also came with soup, salad, and choice potato.

We both enjoyed our food as much as we had in the past, but it had been over a year since we had last been there. This time, though their prices had increased significantly. More expensive than other restaurants that we enjoy that also have very good fish fries.

Didn’t feel welcome upon our arrival. We did make a reservation, although only 6-8 tables were in use. Cocktails were mixed poorly. Service was kind but slow. I can only imagine how it would be if they were busy. Salad was about 1/4 of the plate. Clam chowder soup was watery. Food was tasteless and cold. We had the seafood platter, Jagerschnitzel, and Filet mignons after having a combo basket for an appetizer. We were not even offered dessert, maybe it’s not on the menu?

The food was a solid 3 out of 5. The mozzarella sticks that we got were watery on the inside and it tasted like the wonton wasn't fully cooked through. The Reuben I got was alright as well and I really liked the sauce that they bring with it, but just wasn't great overall. Drinks were pricey.

Hadn't been here in years. The place was freezing. We asked the waitress if we could take another seat or could the air blowing on us be turned down. Her response was oh sorry I'll send warm vibes. The salad was fine. The chicken soup tasted like dishwater so we couldn't eat it. She asked if we didn't like it. We said no it's really bad. She said oh sorry I'll tell the cook to taste it. The only thing good was the fish for $23. She offered no alternatives or solutions. We gave cash and told her we were all set. She then came back and said oh you gave $5 extra dollars was that for me? An obvious dig. Never will we go back to this place.

I have to say I was disappointed. We sat down and took a bit to get greeted. We shrugged it off because we know how busy a Friday fish fry can be. We brought our kids with us but no highchair options. We ordered the food and it was luke warm at best. We ordered another batch that was hot which I can appreciate. I got a soda in a bottle and couldn't belive that I could get almost 2 beers for the price of this soda. The service after being seated was wonderful but that's not enough to bring us back.

We went to Clifford’s for their fish fry, and it did not disappoint. We went on a Wednesday evening and got seated right away. Our server was Ella who was extremely sweet. The fish was seasoned to absolute perfection. The fries and coleslaw were really good as well. We ordered a Gemba, a Southern Punch and a Holiday Cafe which were all extremely good. I never knewabout this place until now. I’m so glad this place exists. I will be back to eat again and again and again.

This service was just horrible. I had to go up to the bar to get another round of drinks for my family in the middle of dinner. Our server could not comply with the simplest of requests. We ran out of tartar sauce and that was no big deal to her. Also, they are no longer serving hot fries apparently. It’s a shame, I’ve been coming here for I don’t know how long. But I don’t think I’ll be coming back anymore. I can see how their clientele has declined. It used to be so busy there.

I give 0 stars....I just wasted almost $50 for 2. The only thing good was the bread. The Cod was so thick and tasteless, the chicken dumpling soup was a sheer joke! Not even a forth teaspoon of carrots/dumpling/chicken diced as smaller than the tip of a match....The salad was old broen and wilted. Dressing was good.The mashed potatoes generous amount but tasted like instant. The gravy was a odd bitter taste. Also, I can't get past the smell all around smelled like bug spray! 🥺 I FEEL SO MAD FOR $23 A DINNER SHOULD TASTE SOME WHAT DECENT!

Popular spot on Friday night because the fish fry is well worth stopping. Drinks are strong. Waitress was sweet and very attentive. Place was clean and cozy. Decor doesn't look like it has been updated since the 1960s, and that's part of the char. Less pricey than other s upper clubs we looked at. I would totally go back.

They try to be an old fashioned supper club which is probably why the nostalgia decor hasn't been updated since the early 80's. Service was absolutely horrible, I asked 3 different times for water and actually went up to the bar to get it myself ( they weren't that busy). The food was decent, but definitely overpriced compared to similar establishments. If you stay too long like we did because of slow service, you will find out they do karaoke at 8:30 🤦🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️ Do yourself a favor and save the supper club experience for someplace up North. This place won't last much longer.

I had the Seafood Platter with hash browns, clam chowder, & salad. It took nearly 45 minutes just to get the salad & soup, & the soup was lukewarm. It took another 40 minutes to get my entree. It was cold. The grease under the hash browns was starting to coagulation, which means they were warm when plated but sat there for quite some time before being served. All of the seafood items had been cooked just fine, but were cold by the time they reached me. The dish had obviously been sitting out for some time, waiting to be served to me at my table. I ended up asking for a box to take everything home, so I could reheat it myself & actually get a hot meal. I've always liked Cliffird's, but this is enough to turn me off of them completely. This was a pretty horrid expereience.

Last Saturday night, my mother in law lost her ring at Clifford's while wiping her hands in a napkin. (Blame the delicious crab legs.) The ring had belonged to her mother and had significant sentimental value. By the time she realized it was missing, the restaurant was closed. When she reached out Sunday, she spoke directly with the owner. He was so kind and understood the importance of this heirloom.

Even though the are closed on Sundays, the owner himself dug through the trash from the busy Saturday night before...and FOUND IT! She was able to pick it up that same day.

Horrible service on 5/9/24! We were the ONLY table there! Waitress kept distributing napkin wrapped silverware to tables & wouldn't take our order until she was done. We would have left, if she did't bring us sodas! Food took a long time! 2 others that came in after us got their food before we did! Do not order the breaded scallops. No way should this ever be on a menu. I am sorry, it sounded like a possible good item but was bad. The owner should seriously look into this. It is like coated chicken nuggets. Also when you have a large party of 11 one would think they would focus more for this large gathering. It truly was not that crowded but the cooks must have taken too many breaks. The table of 7 that sat down waaaaaay after us literally got their order within 5 minutes of us. And the food was at best warm. Oh and the bill was far more than the 100 that I clicked on the above tab.

Everything here is like a 9/10, nothing that will blow your mind but I'll take that any day of the week, most places rank under 6. This a solid good food place, and prices for it are cheap. My goto for a good meal.

Cran legs and lobster are pretty solid choices, on my list is all you can eat crab legs on Saturdays, it now below me to spend 3 hours eating a dinner and I for sure want to have allocated 3 hours for this event. I might not be eating that long but I don't want to be interrupted during this event.
