Worst experience. Haven't been here in 2 years and its definitely has gone down hill. First pizza was burnt, breadsticks were burnt, we were told they were out of pizza sauce so we couldn't order anything that required pizza sauce. Are you kidding me!

The gentleman that seated us & took our drink order was rude!! He asked what we would have to drink & because they didnβt have drink selections on the menu, I said what do you have & he said very rudely, βWhat do you want?β It was my first time there, I was visiting how did I know what they offered?! The young man that waited on us after that was very nice! The pizza crust was thin, bland & crusty, the pizza had very little sauce.

Ordered a pizza online about an hour ago. Checked my email and saw that they canceled my order, so I gave them a call. When I asked why the response? "I don't know, we're really backed up". I then asked why we weren't called, and again was met with "I don't know" I normally love Doughboys, I'm not sure I want to spend my money there anymore.

Wow. What an off-putting experience. We ordered two 16" pizzas with an estimated pick-up time of 6:04. We had arrived by 6:00 and were obviously not surprised when the pizza wasn't ready, so we went to the bar for a quick drink while we waited. By 6:15, I was starting to wonder if there was a minor hold-up. Little did I realize, my next 40 minutes would become increasingly more frustrating. The person who was seemingly in charge asked our name to check on the pizza and said they were a little backed up but ours was "just about to go in the oven". Reasonable for a Saturday night, I suppose. Interestingly, I looked around and noticed there were only 4 tables of patrons dining-in. Another 15 minutes passed, and the manager apologized and said our pizza "was just going into the oven" and will take 10-12 minutes. I found this interesting as 15 minutes before, he said our pizza was going in the oven. Now, I have taken a lot of math classes through my years of schooling and those time estimates simply did not add up. The manager, appearing frustrated and frazzled, went back to the kitchen to a staff moving at sloth-like speed and came back to say their night has been a disaster. After ANOTHER 20 minutes passed, he said the two 16" pizzas would be free given our mind-numbing wait. Normally I would be incredibly understanding as I am a very calm-tempered individual, but I had an 83 year old grandfather and 5 month pregnant wife ready to eat 45 minutes ago. Unfortunately, my disappointment only grew after finally receiving our pizzas (after another 5 minutes). Firstly, one pizza was 12" as opposed to the ordered 16" pizza which was further confirmed by another examination of our receipt. As I needed to get back to feed the family and the pizza was technically free at this point, I decided to simply bow my head in a state of pizza-deprived melancholy, leave the restaurant with my dad who patiently waited with me through this chaos, and drive back to my grandpa's house to deliver our cheese-topped disappointment. In a final gut punch, the 12" pizza, already 88 square inches smaller than the originally ordered pizza, was charred and flavorless. One may be asking at this point why I didn't give a 1-star rating. In my opinion, I like giving small-businesses the benefit of the doubt. Further, I was able to have some good conversations with my dad while waiting for what made the time it takes to play a full game of Risk seem like a blink of an eye. Maybe they really were having a rough night. Regardless, I will not be back. Thanks for reading.

OMG, this is the best pizza! Another great dinner with friendly staff and the owner checking in to make sure everything was great. We have been coming here for 20 years, since we moved to Waunakee. The pizza has always been great, take out, delivery or a relaxing night on their patio or cozy bar area.

My family has frequented Doughboys over the last couple of years. The recent changes to the interior and game area are nice. The kids like the new games. However, our most recent visit left us wondering about the changes to the food. Our appetizer came out burnt, our pepperoni pizza was lacking pepperoni and the BBQ chicken that we have always ordered did not taste good. Iβm not sure why the pizzas are being changed, but I would recommend going back to the old recipes. The chicken on the BBQ chicken pizza did not taste good and there was barely any BBQ sauce on the pizza. Disappointing visit and Iβm not sure if I will be going back.

We used to go to DoughBoys all the time, so we thought we would take some friends there for dinner. The appetizers were good. Our group ordered 4 different types of pizza. They looked different but they all tasted the same. They were bland, dry and had no flavor. Which is disappointing since they had good pizza at one time. When we arrived, we were wondering why they werenβt very busy, now we know why. At one point the manager was at the register using 4 letter words, (we asked our sever who that was swearing) which was not good because we had kids with us. Guess that will be our last visit, unless we want appetizers. It is sad that a place that was so good ended up like that. I wish them the best and hope that they can turn things around

Pizza was so light I had to open the box to make sure there was a pizza inside. It cost 12% more than the menu online. Crust was like a cracker, and came with no sauce. Some slices had zero toppings.

Are they closed? I stopped by twice this week hoping to do the lunch buffet, and they weren't open. I see no change in hours on Google or the website.
For an independent, this is a pretty solid lunch buffet overall. I am a big thin crust person, and their thin crust on the buffet is excellent - fairly light but with enough carbon on the bottom for that cracker like flavor. Their sausage is good, so my usual supreme/deluxe is excellent here. Their sauce is relatively sweet, which I prefer.
They take requests for the buffet if you ask when you arrive, and the only reason they don't get five stars is that the selection can be limited if you get there after 1230pm.
The salad bar is very good, and they have at least one soup available most of the time. The breadsticks are tasty as well, even if they are just a standard food distributor stick you can find at Dahmen's and other indie pizza places.

While I'm glad to have a locally owned pizza option, Doughboy's is kind of like the pizza version of McDonald's. Their pizzas offer little in the way of creativity, but they offer a consistent product. Until they step up their game, I'll continue to head into Madison (Salvatore's, Grampa's, Pizza Brutta) to get my pizza fix.
There are not multiple crust options to choose from when ordering. On a 1 to 10 scale where 1 is crispy and 10 is bubble gum chewy, I'd give Doughboys a 6. The crust does not detract from the pizza, but is nothing memorable either.
Doughboys does offer a number of sauce options (marinara, alfredo, olive oil, ranch and BBQ). The marinara sauce tastes like you standard out of the can red sauce - OK for the kids, but not destination dining.
There are 22 different options for toppings. The feta cheese option is appreciated and often utilized. Topping quantities are adequate. There are not any gourmet options for toppings, but the standards they offer are adequate for the kids.
The appetizer menu offers 16 options, primarily the deep fried options you would see at your local drinking establishment (fries, cheese curds, onion rings, jalapeno poppers). The breadsticks are popular with the kids and are reasonably priced.
I can not comment on the dinner menu (primarily chicken and fried shrimp options) since I have not ordered any of them.
Service for my takeout orders has always been prompt and friendly. For carryout orders, the food is always ready on time.

I just ordered an 8 piece chicken dinner. I requested all dark meat, as I do not care for white meat and I was planning on eating this chicken over the course of several meals. Upon receipt of the delivered food (it was at least hot and fresh), I opened it to feed myself and my daughter. I found that half of the order was white meat. I'm not going to even go into the pathetic size of the chicken pieces.
I called Doughboys and the person who answered took my complaint and then talked to her manager. She came back after a minute and explained to me that her manager said that the chicken comes pre-packaged and they cannot pick and choose which pieces to give me. I asked her, why then was I not told that when I ordered? Why was I allowed to order that in the first place if it is not possible? She said that she did not know who took my order. What kind of crap answer is that? She said it would not happen again, and I let her know that she is correct, as Doughboys has lost my business.
Everything about this order was an opportunity for Doughboys to make a loyal customer by doing ANYTHING to rectify the problem. Instead they basically told me, "too bad for you!!"
I'll be glad to tell anyone and everyone to not give their business to Doughboys. If you want pizza, go to Zoe's! If you want chicken, go to Culvers. If you want decent customer service, go anywhere but Doughboys.

The pizza here is excellent, I love all of the different and unique choices they have. My favorite has to be the cheeseburger, yes it has pickles but it is so good and different. I would recommend the thin crust, but hand tossed is good as well. You also have to try the breadsticks they are amazing (and a good deal as well)! They also have a great selection of beer that changes fairly often. Great pizza and great beer, you can't beat it!

I had the worst pizza ever last night from Doughboys Pizza in Waunakee. It was completely tasteless - as in that it had no flavor at all. It was a hand-tossed crust pizza with sausage, mushrooms, and beef. The crust was rock hard and like eating Saltine crackers, but without the salt taste. The sauce had no flavor at all. How is that even possible to have pizza sauce that provides no flavor? I expect mushrooms not to have any flavor, but neither did the sausage or beef. To make things even worse, that pizza cost $16. I could have gotten a large pizza from Pizza Hut or Papa Johns for $10 or $11 with the same toppings and it would have been extremely tasty. I have eaten hundreds of pieces of pizza from a wide variety of places who make pizza and this was the worst by far. Don't waste your money buying pizza from this place.

The pizza was exceptionally well cooked. The crust on their thin crust pizza was light, crisp, and buttery with the right amount of doughiness. The sauce was a smooth lightly seasoned marinara. You could taste the sweetness of ripe tomatoes in it without it being overpowered by the spices.
The service was average and the time it took to get the pizza was on par with other similar restaurants. The wait staff was generally courteous. They were able to get the appetizer to our table very quickly.
