The server who was also the bartender, I believe his name was Mike, was so kind and friendly and made sure that my experience there was really wonderful. My wife and I came for the weekend to visit the area. We stopped at the Ellsworth creamery and bought way too much fun stuff. They recommended going to The Common Man for good local food, so we did. We could not have been more pleased!! My wife’s burger with maple bacon was absolutely delicious and juicy, and she loved their sweet potato fries. I ordered the Reuben and hands-down it is the best Reuben I have EVER had in my life, no joke!! The combination of the fact that they slice their own meat on site, combined with the wonderful local melty cheese, and the fact that it was served piping hot!! Do not miss the opportunity to try this place, you will not regret it. My only complaint is that we don’t live closer!

Been here twice now and plan to make a regular stop. Tonight was our first night going here as a family with small kids. We’ve lived in a nearby small town for going on 3 years and the options for going out to eat that have good food and service are pretty much nonexistent.

The menu is small but diverse, prices on par with many better serving restaurants in the near areas and you actually get your money’s worth. But what really made it stand out what our server. She was prompt, friendly and on top of it. I can’t tell you how many places we’ve been to where service is just absolute trash. Check it out! Good food, good prices and good service!

They were overwhelmed with the number of large tables so we had to wait a bit for our. Food but man was it worth it. I had the cowboy burger and I swear it’s the best burger I’ve ever had. The beer battered fries were the bomb and the beer battered onions rings thoroughly addicting. Had the Kentucky peach lemonade cocktail as well and so smooth. We stopped by on a Thursday evening. We arrived right before 5pm and there was plenty of seating. The bartender came over right away to take our orders. The restaurant is small, nothing fancy, but pleasant enough, the music in the background not too loud.

We started off with cheese curds, which were served in a tall cone. The curds were fantastic, crisp, chewy, and squeaky. We added an order of ranch on the side, and I was really impressed by it; our server said it was house-made, too. For my main dish, I had the chicken enchiladas tacos. Now, I'm from California, and I look at any Midwest takes on Mexican food with a critical eye, but these were really good tacos! My husband had the maple whiskey burger and really enjoyed his meal. I sneaked one of his fries and found it to be delicious.

The restaurant was getting really busy about 5:30 as were we needing to pay and leave, so that process was a bit slow, but that is really the only criticism of our stop here. We'd both definitely eat at Common Man again!

Stopped in on a Friday night for a beer and a burger. The place was busy but there were several tables available and plenty of room at the bar. We chose the bar and ordered a beer while we looked over the menu.

About an hour went by before we were able to order food. I asked if we could order several times but was told they would be with me shortly.

We ordered our food and visited for about an hour and a half before our food arrived. The service was the slowest I have ever experienced. Not just for us but it seemed that everyone waited a long time. We spent a little over three hours in total here.

The food was absolutely delicious but mine was not what I was expecting. I had the firecracker burger and sidewinder fries. My companion had a bacon cheeseburger and fries.

My companion said the burger was very good. The seasoning was excellent and the burger was done perfectly. I had the firecracker expecting a spicy burger. Spicy it was not. Don't misunderstand, I didn't expect it to be extremely hot but I did expect it to bite a little.

In spite of the disappointment of no spicy heat the burger was quite good. The burger was done perfectly, it was seasoned well, the bacon was tasty, the yum yum sauce was yummy. If I had simply ordered a standard bacon cheeseburger this would have been a good one.

Legitimately one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time. I ordered the firecracker with fries and curds. My wife had a classic cheeseburger. Burgers were juicy and fresh. Buns were light and extremely delicious. Yum Yum sauce on my burger was on point. Fries were perfectly done and you can taste the light beer batter. This is a great little place just down the road from the Ellsworth Creamery. Stop in for some deep fried cheese curds, a beer and a burger.

Perhaps the worst service staff I’ve ever had the displeasure of interacting with. Walked in with my girlfriend and stood at the front entrance while seemingly everyone in the restaurant stared at us. A few waitresses looked at/walked by us, but nobody greeted us or told us to wait to be seated or to seat ourselves.

We decided to go out onto the patio to sit outside, but it seemed like everyone out there was only drinking, and we were unsure whether we were allowed to eat outside or not. Again, no waitstaff came to check on us, and after about 5 minutes we decided to leave. Absolutely horrible service, will not recommend to anyone.

The food was great! A++ But we sat at the bar and ended up eating up there because they had no seating available outside. Our bartender never would refill our drinks unless we asked her to and she was constantly being really short and snippy at the servers. I felt bad because they would ask her a question and she would be like you don't remember, shake her head, tell them how to ring the certain drink up, then storm past them. Maybe she was having a bad day? Either way it was uncomfortable for us to sit there and listen to her get upset and annoyed and try to enjoy our meal.

What fun....spent the night at David Lodge in Ellsworth WI prior to my first fly-fishing lesson. The owner recommended Common Man...not many other places to go, so we did. What a pleasant visit. Ordered the Badger Burger, it was fresh meat, looks to be hand pressed. Was cooked right not dry, could have been seasoned more. Included three different cheese slices. Two were melted one was not. The bun was soft and fresh. The horseradish cream cheese sauce was good. The homemade chips were alright a bit greasy.
The deep fried Ellsworth cheese curds were served with ranch. They didn’t wow us. The portion size was more than we could eat.
Also ordered the fish tacos, the fish was over cooked. The flour taco shell was cold and too thick relative to the amount of filling. The number of jalapeño’s made it a bit hot. (We like spice but the average Minnesotan would find this to hot) The coleslaw either needed sauce or the taco needed more Yum Yum sauce as the taco was dry. The salsa was good, the tortilla chips lacked salt.
Beer- Nice assortment of tap beer. We had the South Shore Nut Brown Ale, it was smooth, nice nutty taste, good and cold. The Rush River Bubble Jack was a good IPA with a bitter finish. The MLE Plowed winter warmer was smooth and very tasty.
We may return for a beer but not for the food. The food was ok, food was a bit pricey.

We stopped in here after buying cheese curds at Ellsworth Cooperative down the street. They have good prices on cocktails and a wide variety of beer. There is also no shortage of deep-fried goodies. They have a decent sized outdoor patio and a large parking lot. They may allow pets on the patio as I saw a couple with a dog heading for the patio.
