This one actually makes me kind of sad because I ate here solo prior and had a decent experience being waited on . I brought my infant daughter today for a late breakfast. When I came in the restaurant was slightly busy, which is not a problem at all. I noticed that I was the minority and asked if it was OK if me and my daughter Ate here. The gentleman at the counter, the hostess assured me that it was fine. Immediately after going into the waiting area to wait the designated a time, a large group of lovely white males came in and were immediately seated and greeted. As another African-American that came in with that same group was told that he would have to wait as well . Outside of optics. It looks like the African-Americans were told to wait while everyone else got immediate seating. I personally just did not feel safe there with my infant child and didn’t want to create any uncomfortable scenarios for the staff for having to serve African-Americans. I think the food is fine. But now I question my dining experience and not just for me, but any other person of color that would like to simply try food at this location.

This quickly became my favorite breakfast place in Madison. 1) not only do you get coffee in a real mug, it’s waiting for you at the table (I keep getting plastic cups other places and it’s frustrating) 2) someone was around to offer refills every 5 minutes. My mug was literally never empty.

The food was amazing, their chorizo skillet is delicious and it was great portions for the pricing (I work on a farm and am always hungry, I was actually full all morning for once in my life). And their PANCAKES are fantastic. You can sub the toast out for them for just $0.50 and they are a great deal.

Finally the ambiance is a real classic American diner, everyone was nice and super helpful. I absolutely loved this place and will be forcing everyone I know to come back with me.

I just recently visited and I was very impressed.

Not only was the place slammed but it looked like the line was never ending.

We were sat within 5 minutes and our server was always quick to get us everything we needed. Plus the food was immaculate and quick to come out. Will be back for another birthday breakfast!!

Literally the BEST breakfast Ive had at a restaurant!! The food was soo good I was caught off guard. The absolute BEST biscuits and gravy ive ever tasted!! Im not from the area, but I go to Madison once or twice a month for doctor appointments. OH MY GOODNESS I will probably stop here every time I go now!! My son got the cinnamon French toast...DELICIOUS!!! Our server and the atmosphere was also great, and the bus boy was on top off keeping our coffee and waters full. I didn't expect to be this pleased, and I never leave reviews but everything was so great that I had to! I'll definitely be back!

Owner was very rude and didn't acknowledge myself or my boyfriend when we were paying our bill. He just grabbed the ticket out of my boyfriends hand and looked at his phone. When we said thank you and left... not even a nod. Very rude for being the owner of the restaurant.

I eat here with my family every couple weekends and I always order the seafood benedict and french toast no matter the time of day. Highly recommend, one of my favorite restaurant meals. The staff are very friendly and attentive during the meal and its a very cute old fashioned diner. The hash browns are always a little under-salted though.

I ordered a Skillet with the "eggs over medium". They brought an omelet instead, and the server's entry clearly showed that she heard me correctly. They took it back, and I assumed that the correct order would go to the head of the line. But the Skillet meal did not arrive until everyone else at the table had finished their meals. When the checks came, (for our group of 7) mine had a $3.00 gratuity added. I told the manager that the service was poor, and that I wanted the "tip" removed from my bill. He argued with me about it, but finally removed the extra charge, and told me not to return. I assure you that there is no danger that I will.

My experience at Copper Top Restaurant

Great family friendly restaurant with an amazing albanian culture. Great for traditional american or even albanian cuisine. The location could be better, but is still a nice comfort breakfast, brunch and lunch place, which doesn’t serve dinner. The food is handmade, delicious and just great.

The staff is very friendly, attentive and quick. In terms of price Copper Top offers reasonable prices based on the quality and the portion of the food.

The place was crowded but people were moving in and out fast, so the wait wasn’t long at all. It tooka while for the food to come out though. But the servers were consistently checking our coffee the entire time which was nice.

The food was really worth the wait. I ordered Sierra omelette which had plenty of steak that was perfectly cooked. Everything goes so well together, especially the marinara sauce on top that balances out the cheesy, meaty and greasy taste of normal omelette. It was one of the best omelette I had in a while.

The place is not close to where I live but I will sure stop by if I go to the area.

They have coffee mugs on the table when you get there and offer you coffee as soon as you sit, A+. They also have a variety of creamers on the table too. Waitress we had was friendly and fast. Food came out quickly and was really good (French Toast w Eggs and Bacon, Belgian Waffle and side of Hash Browns). Bathroom was clean. Would certainly recommend and would eat at again if we came back from NJ, check it out!

I had the chicken and waffles
The chicken was just a big processed chicken nugget. The waffle was just ok.
My girl had a seafood Benedict, wasn’t very good wasn’t my type of thing either so I can’t judge it harshly but it wasn’t anything special.
The hasbrowns were definitely frozen and served as crispy on the outside but goopy mess on the inside.
The waiter was a nice guy and very attentive even though he was serving several tables.

Great old spot that Lisa and I have been coming to on and off again for almost thirty years now. We haven't been here for a while and decided to have breakfast after visiting an art gallery on the West side of town.

I had the Albanian skillet which was glorious in presentation, but even better tasting. I'm still thinking about it almost a week later. Lisa had the ham and cheese omelette minus the cheese. So good. So good. So good. SooooOoOoooOoo Good!!! If everyone knew about this place...all the other breakfast joints would be closed. Try it. You're gonna like it. A lot. I have eaten at the Coppertop many times in the past although not in a while but this was my 1st time getting take out.
That was very very disappointed...
I ordered French toast and with a slice of ham and a pecan roll.
The French toast wasn't anything to brag about especially since I did not get any serp with it! That was very frustrating and I didn't have anywhere I was going to eat my know. I also ordered a pecanroll which did not even look like a pecanroll. Whatever it was, was burnt. It almost looked like some type of thicker bread that was sliced but I did not see a pecan on the bread at all!! What made this even more disappointing was that I was really hungry and when I got the order in my car it smells so good! So imagine my disappointment, just imagine!
I know you can do better Coppertop and please, when it's a take out order make sure the order has everything it should have and that customers will need including silverware and napkins which I did not get either.

Food was good, came out quickly. Our server was very nice and charming, he deserves 5 stars. Our issue was that while we were finishing up our food & chatting, a manager very rudely told us and another table to leave.
I get it, we did not mind if he gently asked us to leave as it is Sunday morning, but the manner in which he did so was so off putting it ruined the good experience we had here.
Maybe visit it when it's not as busy, or if you are going on Sunday be sure you're in & out, or you may be treated rudely.

Ordered for carryout and at first thought this was good idea, as lobby was packed with people waiting to be served. Got there and was told food would be another couple of minutes. Guy at counter said he would pop out and call my name when ready. I told him I would be outside front door as lobby was too packed to wait in, he said ok. Needless to say after 15 minutes went back in to see what was holding food up, and he said he thought I left as he had called my name 10 minutes ago in lobby and I didn't come in. Hmmm, paid for meal, why would I leave without it, and had TOLD him, to which he said OK, I'd be outside. Oh well, food over all was meh, filling, but pancakes were salty, I had Irish Skillet and amount of corned beef hash on it was sub-par, barely any there. Companion had hot roast beef. Beef was almost shredded and very dry. Also tasted like it was borderline going bad. I've heard rave reviews about this place, but both the time and food experience have made me cross this location off my list as a try again.

This breakfast/lunch diner is AMAZING. Has a great family atmosphere. Our waitress was great. Nice and efficient with her job. Checked on us a few times during our visit. We ordered the #2 (pancakes and eggs) with strawberries, the Belgium waffles with whipped cream, strawberries, and bacon strip. We also got the seafood egg Benedict - which was BOMB. The Benedict is a must try, the sauce was very smooth and mellow, not too much acidity. The waffles were standard, pairing it with fresh strawberries, whipped cream was a great idea to give it an extra touch. The pancake was decent - it was a little too thick and doughy for our taste. Overall great food and service. I 100% recommend and will visit again.

We got seated right away we got there at noon and was given breakfast menu. After 5 min finally flag the guy down and asked for another menu. Then sat 15 or maybe more minutes waiting on our waitress to come take the orders then when she do finally come over she says do you guys need more time ? ( why would we after sitting so long hell our water was even gone . Then of course my order was wrong and my co-worker hers was undercooked . Only 1 out of 3 meals was good so at least one of us went back to work happy. It was our first time going , we heard great things about there club sandwiches and tuna melts needless to say both those meals was disappointing . I'll try any restaurant once but not twice
