People are sleeping on this place. It doesn't have the greatest location in the world, and the building is pretty easy to overlook. But man, they are cooking some primo chow in this place.

If the world were fair and people were smart, the lines out the door would be at this place instead of Golden Nest. Nothing against Golden Nest, but the food quality at Country Cafe is better, and there is no wait.

There should be a wait here. There is no reason this place shouldn't be hopping every day like Gus's or Golden Nest.

Sun Prairie's breakfast game is off the chart, and this place leads the pack.

The food was delicious. We enjoyed a well-portioned and high quality breakfast that didn't hurt our stomachs on the long drive home, and that's all one can ask for when traveling.

The staff was very attentive, but it didn't disturb our meal. One waitress took our trash from off the table mid-meal, but left my half-used sugar and creamer on the table. How did she know!?! Some of the other little things we noticed were staff dumping used syrup bottles after each customer, and staff thanking each guest as they exited the building.

A cute little diner that surprisingly wasn't packed on that Sunday morning, they have plenty of seating. We had actually just left a place that had a long wait line leading outside, and that's when we found this gem!

The Country Cafe turned out to be a bit of a hidden gem in Sun Prairie, especially for brunch. It's not a fancy place but it's clean and well maintained, with seating available at the counter, tables and booths. Service was very friendly and quick, with our coffee cups and water glasses refilled before getting empty without having to make a request. The somewhat eclectic menu offers a large and interesting array of breakfast or lunch choices that feature American standards plus quite a few items with Mexican and Italian influences. I really enjoyed the ground pork tamales skillet with eggs, toast and hash browns. My wife also liked her Huevos Con Chorizo with hash browns, but would have liked it to come with toast, which it doesn't. She also enjoyed the Chiliquiles she had on a prior visit. We plan to return again soon to try some of the many other items on the menu that interested us, including the pancakes that looked good.

This is a bit of a hidden gem. I was expecting a greasy spoon kind of diner and was pleasantly surprised that I could find pretty healthy options on the menu. I am gluten-free, so I did no bun on my burger, but I will say that the buns looked great! There are also the typicaly greasy spoon diner options on the menu. The service was fast and attentive and it wasn't super busy. And the prices were very reasonable ($60, which included a generous tip, for three people). Would definitely recommend!

I just got off the plane and me and my mom came in to have breakfast. My mom ordered wings and cheese curds. I ordered the bruchetta, avocado toast, and my son got French toast and bacon. Everything but the cheese curds was cold. I've had avocado toast before and it was like the bread was never toasted. The avocado tasted too ripe. My mom's wings were refrigerator cold when she bit into em. Bacon was cold. Literally everything tasted microwaved. And nothing came out hot like it was just cooked. We ordered mimosas, that and the cheese curds were the best out of everything. I was definitely shocked when I received a bill for $76. Definitely not worth the quality. I rated service 3 stars because I find it unprofessional to discuss personal situations loud enough for everyone to hear. Drama/gossip doesn't sound well when you are trying to eat and enjoy yourself. 5 stars on atmosphere because it was a nice and clean set up.

The pancakes are immaculate. Honestly best pancakes I've had in a long while. Fluffy but crispy at the sides. Exactly like mom would wake you up with on Saturday mornings.

I would say the atmosphere is very ideal for a diner. They are kind enough to print large examples of food you're waiting to receive. The ambiance is a quiet nod to the early 2000's Tuscany kitchen remodel.

And I love that they kept the old stainless steel coffee thermos. And they do a great service to the city of sun prairie for all the kindness they show the geriatrics. Dispite some of them being quite nasty to the staff. Wait staff - I see you and the patience you so undeservedly give.

I did have to remove a skunk point because there was an onion on my pancake (not very big but I was still disappointed) and the hash browns were mid.

The food was actually pretty good, although the coffee wasn't hot. I was served coffee twice; neither time was hot. A vegetarian omelette was tasty, and hubby's hamburger was a little more done than medium rare, but still good.
HOWEVER, we will not be coming back because of the lackluster service and disinterest on the part of the servers. It has been a long time since I've seen so many people standing around chatting, or like our server, checking out her phone constantly....so much so that she forgot our drinks, for example. I chose to not sit in one of the indicated booths because of the French fries on the floor, and specifically stated that. There were at least five employees working the front in the almost empty restaurant while we were there, but as we were leaving a lady in a wheelchair mashed the mess into the carpet. That is NOT on her; it's a sign that nobody cares.

Worst experience I have ever had. When we got there, there were not any other customers. It took almost 10 mins just to get our drinks ordered because the lady working was facetiming a friend. I ordered chili and a house salad, my fiance ordered a cheeseburger and fries. It took almost 30 mins for the food to come out and when it did, it was barely luke warm. My fiance asked for a well done burger, it was still pink inside. Our meal cost almost $40! We will never go back here again, which bums me out since 20-25 yes ago it was a favorite place to go

Came to this restaurant with an open mind because mom and pop restaurants like these usually have some great home cooking. Sadly I was severely disappointed. Especially when my biscuits and gravy W/eggs were very cold on one side and luke warm on the other, the eggs had zero flavor but the coffee was decent. It took several tries to get the attention of the waitress so I could have my meal remade. I'm fairly sure the biscuits were tossed it into a microwave because when I got my plate back the eggs were still icy yet the biscuits were piping hot in the gravy was cold still and starting to solidify. Honestly it was pretty gross and I would suggest eating elsewhere.

First time at this restaurant and will not be going back. Was seated by the bus girl and then waited for our waitress while she chit chatted with her regulars. Finally she came and took our orders and did not know what kind of cheese they had for the cheeseburger. When she brought our food out when she brought our food out she also brought some extra stuff. With this being our first time we didn't know if it came with the meal. Five minutes later she came back and asked if we touched the fruit. We said no and then she asked 'are you sure'. We both said no we did not touch it and once again she asked 'if we were sure'. Once again we said we did not touch it. She then picked it up and brought it to the table were it was suppose to go. That was wrong in so many was ethically and legally. Food was nothing to write home about. Very small portions for the price.

Decided to give them a try after learning of the made from scratch pasta and it absolutely did not disappoint! From the fresh hot bread with oil to the Fettuccini de Angelo, which was the best pasta dish I’ve had in over 30 years, it was all truly amazing. A cozy, relaxed atmosphere with upscale options as well as pizza and burgers. I think there’s something that anyone would love at Country Cafe in Sun Prairie. Try it, your stomach will thank you.
