I have never rated a Cracker Barrel lower than 5 for food. As a matter of fact, my family was talking about how reliable the food is no matter what state you're in. If you don't feel like being adventurous and sampling the local eats, this place is always our number 1 choice. However, we were disappointed with the staple Cracker Barrel favorite, the hash brown casserole. It tasted like they either changed the recipe, or the cook forgot about primary ingredient. I have never had to send food back at a Cracker Barrel before until now. I'm really hoping this was a one off event. Please don't let this be the new norm.

The staff was very fast and friendly. I got seated right away when I walked. Both the host and waitress were extremely friendly. Wonderful customer service skills which is extremely rare anymore these days. After I ordered my food, I attempted to play my game on my phone, but was unsuccessful because once I got a couple of chores done on it, my food arrived! :D This was faster service than most fast food restaurants. This was also my very first time coming to a Cracker Barrel for breakfast. The food was incredibly delicious. Best breakfast I have had in a long time. Their pancakes even outdo IHOP. Cracker Barrel is a must stop for breakfast at least once.

It was my first time having cracker barrel! We came at one of their busiest times. The place was jam packed and pretty loud. It understandably took a little bit to get our food. However, our waitress kept checking in with us, letting us know she did put in our order, filling drinks, etc. so we had excellent customer service!

The food was really good! We had the county fried shrimp and southern fried chicken with dumplings, hash brown casserole, fries, pan fried apples, and bacon Mac and cheese. I recommend everything that we tried honestly. We also had a coupon for an appetizer and tried their cheese curds. Their ranch was obviously made in house, which I love a homemade buttermilk ranch. The cheese curds weren't anything special to me but still good. Their cornbread and biscuits are a little dry which isn't my favorite so I couldn't give an honest review.

Got me the chicken and dumplings and they are definitely good. After visiting the Kalahari, our family and I were dining at Cracker Barrel. Taylor, our waitress, was training a new hire. We ordered our food without any issues and made lighthearted remarks about someone’s food not being ready. Unfortunately, a few months ago, we experienced a similar situation. Approximately 15 minutes later, Taylor informed us that they were out of meatloaf. Consequently, two of our party members had to order additional food while the rest of us had already received their meals.

Meatloaf is a staple item at Cracker Barrel, and I am perplexed as to why it was not in stock during our visit. The meatloaf was part of their Monday special. Therefore, we are uncertain why they were out of meatloaf when we arrived at 5:00 PM. We politely requested to speak with a manager to address this issue.

Upon the manager’s arrival, he explained that he was assisting the kitchen staff due to a shortage of employees. While it is commendable that a manager is actively assisting, it is concerning that the wait staff has to bear the brunt of this communication breakdown. It appears that there is a lack of coordination between the front-of-house and the kitchen. He also stated that if they only make 5 meatloafs and they receive tickets after, they will not know until the tickets arrive.

As a result of the miscommunication, our two family members were not going to order food, as by the time they received their meals, the wait staff would have completed their orders. The manager offered to remove our meals from the bill, but we were not satisfied with this resolution, as we had not received the meals we had ordered.

Taylor went beyond this and apologized to us by taking out one lemonade out of bill. Since this has happened twice in less than a few months we probably won’t be returning

I have never been there and my son took me for dinner. Everything looked great! Food was excellent! Pictures are of the food we ate there.

Our waitress was so nice and attentive. The shop had a 50% off sale so bought a couple of little things.

Cons:

I would skip the $5 take home meal. It wasn't worth it. Looked like someone's leftovers. There was very little food.

I know they were running out of a lot of food when we were there so maybe that's the reason why. There was only two tablespoons maybe of Mac & Cheese and the meatloaf was a very thin small slice. (Yes I know $5 isn't a lot but I have gotten more from other take home meals at other places)

We had a waiter named Mark who had the best service I’ve seen in a long time. Mark 100% deserves a raise and possibly even a promotion. We ordered around 9:15pm and even as I write this review I’m eating and it’s 10:04pm. He doesn’t rush and he’s very polite. Come here and get mark as your waiter.

I am updating this review from 3 years ago. The food continues to be good but not the same. We had the peach cobbler for dessert and the topping was so hard you could hardly crack it.

The main reason for this review and the lower rating is the service. While friendly they are obviously under staffed which means getting a server as quickly as a decade ago and getting food to us was extremely slow. I would say at a snail pace compared. Instead of spending money on a new logo and new wall decorations it seems Cracker Barrel would be better served by putting this money into pay so they can hire additional personnel in the restaurant. To us, what makes a good restaurant is good service, good food and reasonable pricing. The kind of pictures on the wall and logo mean nothing!

Cracker Barrel is consistently good food at a good price. However for some reason they have taken away the long time named breakfasts to more of an a la cart type ordering. Seems they are going away from the "homestyle" they have always had to a "modern" style. They should keep what works and not try to be like every other restaurant. Food and service was good.

After traveling all day, the 5 coworkers in our group were looking forward to familiar comfort foods. CB is generally consistent, reliable, quality food. Our visit was disappointing. I went there to celebrate my friends 75th birthday because we both love Cracker Barrel. The food was incredible she ordered a veggie plate and I ordered the catfish. However, we waited a very long time for the meal when we ask the waitress about it she said that from the time she turned it in was 37 minutes but it seemed more like 52 us. It was not very crowded and there were several waitresses. Ours had four stars on her apron and she was very good. Plus I'm not sure if you've changed policy but we didn't get our bread until we got our meal it would have been nice to at least have that to munch on while we were waiting. I absolutely love the Cracker Barrel but was very disappointed in how long it took for the food to come when they weren't all that busy about average lots of Empty Tables and not everybody came at one time.

After visiting and eating at numerous Cracker Barrel establishments throughout the country I will have to rate the one in Wisconsin Dells as the worst I have visited. I went there for lunch today. I was promptly seated as they were not overly busy. My server, who had 4 stars on her apron (meaning she's been there awhile), took my order. I ordered the Campfire Shrimp Skillet and an additional side of fried okra along with iced tea. She returned shortly with my tea and some napkins and said she'd return with a glass of water in a few minutes. That was the last time she visited my table for approximately 25 minutes. No water, no biscuits or cornbread muffins, no silverware. When she arrived with food it was a Skillet with shrimp and rice, a bowl of broccoli and a bowl of fried apples. I informed her that wasn't what I ordered, I had requested the Campfire Shrimp Skillet. She asked if I meant "the one with the corn on the cob and potatoes"? Yes that one. She returned to the kitchen then reappeared a few moments later and said "they said we don't have that. We have the Campfire Chicken or Campfire Beef." I declined her suggestions. She then offered to bring the menu again so I could reorder. I again declined her offer as I didn't want to wait another lengthy period to receive consolation food. I left without my desired Campfire Shrimp skillet and without my fried okra. I guess on a positve note, the few sips of iced tea I had were good. Dells Cracker Barrel, please do better.

I really wasn’t impressed with eating here . We originally were supposed to go to a different restaurant but they were closed so the teenagers picked Cracker Barrel . Got there sat down was fine . Watching the server I was trying to figure out if she was new or didn’t know how to serve yet maybe a (j1) . Our drinks came we placed our order odd questions were asked . Then our food came . I have been in the hospitality industry for 20+ years in the dells/ Madison area. My niece looked at me said I don’t have bacon . My loaded baked potato looked like maybe 5 pieces of shredded cheese was put on the inside and was attempted to melt for both sides . Our server went to get my side salad she forgot and when she came out I said sorry but she doesn’t have her bacon and can I please get a side of shredded cheese . Expecting her to take the plate that had the sandwich on it ( most restaurants do ) she just left it sit and looked at me and said um I don’t know let me see . I was annoyed by than . Here she comes with a plate of bacon hands it to my niece and my cheese . Never asked how our food was . Did refill drinks once a couple were empty not when they were almost gone …. This Cracker Barrel is extremely busy as it’s located in the dells so be prepared for a wait. It was nearly impossible to walk through the building when I went on Sunday morning, people were in every corner and isle of the main store/check in. The bathroom was out of toilet paper and not very clean. Our waiter was quick to come get our drink order, then another waiter came and took the food order. The food came out decently quick for how busy it was, although we did need to return some items. The biscuits and gravy were not great, the biscuits came out dark and hard, the waiter explained that that’s the new way that they make them. And took two of them back and replaced them, but left the third cold one on the table. The other food was okay but not great. Paying the bill was a task and none of itself due to the amount of people in the way of checking out. It would’ve been easier if the waitress was able to just take the cash.

I got the fish fry with four pieces of fish, but the pieces were literally so small I could get each one down in two bites (I actually probably could have done one bite). It didn't start off well waitress brought me 2 cups of warm coffee and told me this was a fresh hot pot she poured me, so in other words take it or leave it. The first thing I noticed was how dark it was inside! Maybe it's because I had been outside for 3 days prior, but I had to turn to use the light from the window to read the menu. Out waitress was the sweetest, though. I'm dairy intolerant, and she made sure to write it all down, so I didn't have problems later. The food, despite not having any cheese or butter, was delicious, hot, and prepared quickly. I recommend the fried apples.

Terrible experience! my family and I were vacationing and stopped to eat on our way home. When I asked to be seated further from people, due to having little kids and trying to be respectful of other patrons.. I was greeted with eye rolls and attitude. We waited an hour for food and when I arrived it was luke-warm\cold and we had to wait longer than necessary for refills. Our party's bill was upwards of $200 and the lack of customer service skills were to desired..

I thought the food was great, my husband didnt care much for it. I had apple cinnamon pancakes and they were delish! Plus I liked looking through the attached store. Prices were reasonable.

Pancakes were lukewarm warm and they give you a dollop of COLD whipped butter.
Love whipped butter but not in a scoop sitting on pancakes that will not melt it.
SERVE your whipped butter at room temperature. And pancakes HOT
