Was excited about trying Crafty Crab for the 1st time. We entered at 8pm and told immediately when we walked in we could not dine in and our only option would be to carry food out. I replied to the host that google said they closed at 9 though. She said they weren’t seating anyone for dining in anymore tonight. There were only a few people at the bar and two other tables occupied (appeared to be very slow). After we ordered our take out and sat down to wait, one of the tables started to place their order with the waitress. Not sure if this poor experience was due to Crafty Crab rules or waitstaff that need training in customer service. Either way the experience left a bad taste in my mouth.

Attempted to go for their lunch special advertised online. Placed my order online arrived at the location 25 minutes after I placed my order only to find all the doors locked and the lights on. They open at noon on the website and according to google but at 1:30 they had not opened their doors yet but left their online ordering system on. Very inconvenient and a poor way to manager business. Never tried this place this was going to be my first time despite hearing previous poor reviews now I’m no longer interested in trying it at all.

Food was mediocre. I regret getting the meal, I don’t feel like it was worth the extra. The crab is really skimpy - the quality you get at the grocery store for $9.99/lb. The shrimp were not deveined - which means the whole thing was cooked in it. Do you know what they remove with deveining? The digestive track with everything still in it. I asked and they said they got them deveined - but they all still had the “vein”. House wines are $8/glass and terrible. Not a big fan, won’t be returning.

We sat at the bar to wait the 15 minutes for our table. After 10 minutes we had to ask if we can order a drink, there isn’t a bartender on a Saturday night? I recently visited Crafty Crab in Wauwatosa and left feeling pretty underwhelmed. While the atmosphere was definitely a highlight — laid-back vibe, fun nautical theme, and clean interior — the food didn’t live up to the experience.

The portion sizes felt small for the price, especially considering how expensive the seafood boils were. For what you pay, you’d expect a bit more food and a lot more flavor. Unfortunately, the seasoning was bland, and the sauces lacked the kick and depth you usually hope for at a place like this.

If you're going just to hang out or want a casual spot with a nice ambiance, it's an ok pick. But if you're going for the food, especially seafood lovers expecting bold Cajun flavor and hearty portions, you will be dissapointed with around 60 dollars less in your account.

Visit this place with a partner who likes crab, the place is clean and the waiters have very good service.

The atmosphere is welcoming. A great facility for parking.

Seafood was salty for my taste, too much salt and salt, they should consider this part to make a balance, and also have the option of excluding certain things that come in the package.

Control the salt and seasoning load, there are people who are not fans of spicy food, I chose something that was not spicy and it was still spicy, because of the excessive seasoning, I could not enjoy my choice of dishes.

Today was my mom’s birthday and we thought we would try you guys for the first time. The food was hot but not good at all. The butter garlic shrimp and noodles was very bland. Very Disappointing Experience – Not Worth It

We visited Crafty Crab for the first time to celebrate my birthday, hoping for a fun and memorable dinner. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a huge disappointment across the board.

The food quality was far below expectations — bland and just not worth the price. The service was also lacking; our server took our order and then completely disappeared for the rest of the meal. We felt ignored and unimportant.

The atmosphere was chaotic. At one point, a family walked in and stayed on speakerphone loudly while waiting — and no one from the staff stepped in to manage the noise or maintain a welcoming environment.

Overall, it felt like a waste of time and money. Definitely not the kind of experience you want on a special day. Sadly, we won’t be coming back.

The worst dining experience I’ve had in a LONG time. My teenage son loves seafood and had been here a couple years ago. When we left, he said, “that is not how it was last time.”
I had never been there before. Menus were filthy. When I asked our server a question about how they work (I was asking if there was big platter for two, or were the entrees family style, so we could both try a bunch of different things.) She was super annoyed and pointed to the one option. My son ended up explaining to me what he got last time, and what came.
Our food came out relatively quickly. The server put it down, unwrapped, didn’t explain the bibs or the gloves (again my son did.)
He didn’t have gloves, we had to get up and ask.
He ordered crab legs and was trying to crack and eat them with much trouble. I finally got up and asked if they had something to crack them with and she gave me one. He confused to struggle with getting the meat out. When server came back (the ONE time she did,) I asked for a pick or something and she came back with another tool. Never “I’m sorry, let me show you how to use it, etc.”
I was enjoying the food until I looked up and watch the bartender wipe her nose with a cloth, and continue to work without watching her hands 🤮 that completely grossed me out and I just wanted to leave. Many of the employees were sloppy wearing sweatpants and baggy t-shirts. None of them welcoming or smiling. I felt like we were just there taking up a table, I’ve had better service at Culver’s.
We waited for our check way too long, I paid and got out of there. I am literally praying I don’t get sick now. Never again.

Great food, even if overpriced. My main concern was the horrible service from our waitress, a middle aged woman with curly hair. We waited for drinks, refills, our food, all too long while other tables were being waited on- and our waitress was nowhere to be found. I did not receive my drink that I ordered when she first came for over 20 minutes. Most concerning is that one of my table mates’s card was not returned with his receipts, and then was used on someone else’s meal. We asked to see a manager about the poor service and card discrepancy, and no manager made themselves available. Honestly a shame since the food was very good, but overall a disappointing experience

LOVE this place. This was the first place I ever tried a seafood boil and by now, I am sure the staff is SICK of seeing me because I come far too often, haha.

Everyone there is wonderful. I typically get the same waitress and she is fantastic. Dine in, take out, you name it and it is awesome. I have only had a problem one time with my mussels all being closed, and with no fuss, they were taken back and removed from the bill immediately.

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the service I received at the Crafty Crab location in Wauwatosa on 3/8 at approximately 9:06 PM.

Upon entering the restaurant, I was informed by the host, Noel, that dine-in service was closed at 9:00 PM even though posted closing time is 10 pm. While I understand restaurants have closing times, I arrived six minutes after the stated closing time for dine in and was immediately denied service.

I requested to speak with the manager to inquire about the possibility of still being seated, given the minimal time elapsed. The manager refused my request, stating that dine-in was closed with no exceptions, citing the need to "clean the whole store."

I found this response to be completely unacceptable. As a Managing Partner of another restaurant in the area, I understand the importance of efficient operations and closing procedures. However, denying service to a customer arriving just minutes after the stated closing time of dine, and refusing to even consider a reasonable exception, demonstrates a severe lack of customer service.

Furthermore, when I requested the contact information for your corporate office, the manager refused to provide it, instead telling me to "Google it." This level of unprofessionalism is appalling and reflects poorly on the Crafty Crab brand.

I want to emphasize that Noel, the host, was extremely polite and professional throughout the interaction. My complaint is solely directed at the manager's handling of the situation and the refusal to provide corporate contact information.

This experience has left me with a very negative impression of Crafty Crab. I will not be returning to this location and will be sharing my experience with others.

My husband and I were really excited to try the seafood boil. We got shrimp, mussels, crab legs and scallops. The mussels were pretty good but half of them were missing and it was just the shell...we looked for them and couldn't find them. Total rip off right there. The scallops had a good flavor but were a little overcooked. There were a couple of the shrimp that had the mud veins still in them 😶 my husband spit out one and couldn't eat it because it was so mushy. We ordered mozzarella sticks and when I went to dip one into the marinara sauce, a ton of water starting dripping out which tells me they were frozen. Really disappointing and a total rip off.

This is always my go to spot when I crave a seafood boil. I stopped in for some today and everything went well. My only concern as a customer was that the waitress made me feel obligated to tip right away. She help me pack my bag and before I was able to even look at my amount she open by receipt book and pointed to the percentages of the tip and asked me “which one will I be doing today” to me that’s very rude what if I didn’t want to tip? We love this place. Coming from Texas, this place has good 🦀 I'm a steam bag. I was hesitant, but I love the steam crab bags with your selection of sauces. We found this place looking for a unique dining experience for my dad who is visiting us from Argentina 🇦🇷 and he was very pleased!

Me and my husband love seafood so this was right up our alley, we could have sat there for hours eating nonstop! The service was fast, the food was good with big portions, and the price was fair in my opinion for the amount of food served. The option that I found very nifty was that you could hold the seasonings on the side for those who don’t like spicy foods or if you want to try different levels of spice 🌶️

Only thing bad I have to say is the seafood was over cooked. The crab fell apart. The shrimp was rubbery and the crawfish was Definitely not worth the price of $15 for a lb. When only 7 of them had the claws attached. The rest had no claws.

It all tasted well (meaning the seasoning) but the actual freshness of the seafood is TBD due to its being so over cooked.

I found everything thing to be really good except we didn't have proper tools to use on the crab legs we did eventually get something but it's not an automatic. I have carpal tunnel it would have just made things easier so I can enjoy my food hot. My only other complaint was the cleanliness of the bathrooms considering the area. Where the previous AJ bombers/Holey Moley used to be. The restaurant can fill up fast. Quite a bit of take out orders for the 2 hours we spent dining and having a great time with family. We arrived for an earlier dinner as we weren't sure of the crowd, upon leaving about 6 or 7 different tables were filled.
I ordered the C platter with all the seasonings (the BOOM) and medium spicy. It was superb!! Jennie, our wait staff was absolutely wonderful. Attentive, kind, friendly and professional. Our meal arrives to the table and Jennie opened up the bags for us (was asked if we wanted to open or if we wanted Jennie to open). The seasonings were tasteful. The spice level is perfect! We all enjoyed our time here and the meal is delicious! Would definitely be back and this time ordering a few more items like the King crab legs to share with the group. Don't sleep and miss out on this place.
My only 4 star is for the saucy curtains. They were spicy with sauce! 😆 could use a good wiping.

I went to crafty crabs yesterday. I was a little hesitant about going there as I am ot a crab lover, nor do I eat crab. My review from Early July. Somehow magically the location was altered from Wauwatosa WI to Minneapolis….. This place was HORRIBLE! My first time ever getting a seafood boil. First the place is understaffed. Our waiter didn’t check on us until we were finished eating. Everything in our boil was OVERCOOKED! Couldn’t get the crab out of the shells, when we told them it was overcooked they asked if we wanted a scissors!?!?! We said no we want not overcooked crab, they then offered only 1 cluster for 2 people (we both had our own 50$ boil). The best part was the potatoes only thing that was edible in the whole thing. I would give this 0 stars if possible. OVERCOOKED, OVERPRICED AND OVER IT! Take a chapter from the crafty crab in Tampa FL, the atmosphere and food was soooooooo much better and delicious. The staff was very attentive and accommodating.

Meh. Wasn't exactly what I was expecting. My family and I went on a Wednesday for my son's birthday at about 5:30 p.m. First off, it's smaller than what I thought. We sat down right away. There was about five different tables worth of patrons that one server was taken care of. It seemed kind of odd but it really didn't seem too busy for her. We ordered a seafood boil for the three of us and it came out in literally in 10 minutes. So I'm assuming that it was sitting around and just waiting to be ordered. This was our first seafood boil so I didn't know exactly what to expect. Eating crab legs is just too hard of a job if you ask me. The shrimp, sausage and potatoes were good. Scallops were very jellyish and didn't seem to be cooked well enough. Pricey as you'd expect. We'll try somewhere else next time.

Food and boils were great. Service was mid at best. Dude forgot our drinks and basically left us on an island. They don't provide utensils to crack the crab ... everything is done by hand which was annoying.

Atmosphere is cool. Prices are decent. If you want a good seafood boil, stop on by.

Went for a family birthday get together. The menu is a bit confusing but has a fairly good variety of seafood options for those of us who are landlocked. I guess prices were ok. The ambiance of the restaurant needs a refresh and the place needs a definite deep clean. It's gross to see splatters and handprints on the walls. While we were there for a Wednesday dinner there were only two other tables of patrons which is sad. Hope they can make a go of it.

I have been wanting to try this place for awhile and sadly I was disappointed. We came on a weekday when it was not busy. Ordered the calamari and oysters for appetizers. Calamari was actually really good. But the oysters were actually the worst I've ever had, they were fishy and not fresh at all, the waitress couldn't even tell me what type they were. My son ordered chicken tenders in fries and actually he really liked that also. But my husband and I ordered the seafood bags & the only thing I liked were the scallops and the corn. All the dungeness crab was extremely dried out and no flavor at all so again probably old. And for what we paid it was really disappointing. Also the seasoning was just OK. I've been to other seafood places like this where their food has a lot better flavor and more flavor. So considering what we paid and the inconsistent quality, sadly will not be back. The womens bathroom was also run down, broken faucet, and the trash recepticle by the toliet for feminine products was overflowing onto the floor. There are way better places out there.

Lord have mercy this place is amazing. My wife and I go here for special occasions. It is pricey but my god the food is worth it. Seafood tastes fresh and amazing. Not much else to say.

Watery sauce literally NO garlic. It tasted like they mixed water and seasoning salt. I ordered half pound of shrimp, crawfish and snow crab legs. I had about 5 crawfish and seafood lovers know a half lb of crawfish is a generous amount. These were baby crawfish btw. I will never come back. Gratuity was included when it was not deserved.

Went there for dinner last night, and there was a major language barrier between the waiter and us. We were not able to understand him, and he was not able to understand us. He also did not know the drink menu. The catfish was horribly over salted, and the lobster was overcooked. The women's bathroom was incredibly disgusting that I couldn't even fathom using it. We would never go back. Pizza man next door will be our forever choice.

I go to this place once a week cause my kids love it, i spend between $100-$160 every time. The last 3 times I have asked them not to over cook the crawfish when I get them they are like mash potatoes, eggs have been reheated to many times and the sauce today was pure water and salt. I’m all about giving chances but today was just it for us.

The food is seasoned very well. I had the shrimp basket and onion rings one night then lemon pepper wings the next night. Both were very good. It's very convenient if you're staying at the Homewood Suites. I'd definitely go back again when I'm in town.

This place was just ok. The pictures on the site for the seafood boil looked awesome but when I got mine, it was so liquidy that nothing stuck to the food. The potatoes and shrimp might as well have been plain because the liquid they were sitting in had no spices, so all the flavor just fell off as you lifted it out of the liquid. The medium heat had no heat and I got The Boom spice mix which I wouldn't have even noticed if I didn't use the little sausages to try and spoon some up to taste it. But hey, if thats your jam and you don't like heavy flavor then this place has decent prices, they sell by the half pound which is nice, and my server was very attentive. The table next to me ordered the crab cakes and those looked good, so if I try this place again, I'll just steer away from the seafood boil itself. Also I wasn't presented nor offered gloves, so if you don't like getting your hands dirty, don't get the boil. I didn't take any photos cause it just looked lack luster and I just finished it up so I could get back to work.

I don't like crab even a little but I was definitely eating my husband's tonight. I would go back for more.

Shrimp pasta was awesome and the fried shrimp basket and onion rings were average. Drinks were good also.

This Is The Worse Experience That I Have Ever Encountered At Any Restaurant Establishment. Yesterday, Was My First Time Ever Coming Or Eating At This Restaurant. So I Order Some Crab Meat Fries Not Knowing That The Food Was Spicy. Due To My Health Condition I Can Not Eat Spicy Food. I Ate Some Of What I Order And My Mouth Was Burning. So I Explain The Situation To The Waitress And She Refuse To Take The Food Off My Receipt. So I Ask For The Manager Which Could Be Far From Who The Actual Manager Is. Smh So Now I Am Left With Paying For Half Of The Food, Slight Fever And Severe Abdominal Pain. I Will Never Eat Here Again And You Shouldn't Either.

Not one to leave a bad review but I paid over $50 for dinner and i was given styrofoam plates to eat off, wasn’t given the mini forks or a crab leg cracker for our crab legs. Waiter didn’t check on us during our meal. My drink was so strong I couldn’t drink it. Asked for it to be comped and she told me no. Food is served in a bag. All around a disappointing experience. Food did taste amazing.
