Horrific

I was very excited to try out this restaurant based on some of the better reviews and the menu. I wish I had read more reviews and avoided the disgusting experience we had. To start off, upon arrival there was a fall down drunk woman literally having to be carried out by two men. Then next to stumble out of the establishment was a very drunk gentleman staying in one of the onsite cabins. And there was also a large group that was stumbling back to a boat at the pier.
A group of 4 arrived a few minutes before us and were waiting to be seated. They waited and waited and waited. not once being acknowledged by staff. We were also not acknowledged by staff. The table of 4 finally got sat and we waited and waited and waited again to be acknowledged by staff. 4 times a server came to pick up silverware, but spoke not one word to us. Barely any eye contact either. I needed to use the restroom.
I. was. horrified.
Both women's toilets were full to the top. One very brown, and the other much more colorful. Perhaps the drunk woman's vomit? I'll never know.
In addition to the no service and disgusting bathrooms, it was clear to me that they also did not care about cleaning anything. There were more dirty tables than tables with patrons. And the floor was wet in multiple places from various spills. Everyone at the bar seemed to be getting service though. Or I can only assume bc everyone at the bar was ridiculously drunk.
After the bathroom incident, we left. I will never go back to this place. It didn't feel safe, it was beyond appalling, and it was the most disgusting restaurant I have ever been to.
(We were there Saturday of labor day weekend at about 6 pm.)

Prices are good. Food is awesome. Service levels I have experienced are somewhat acceptable to downright awful. Went there recently. No one sitting at bar so we sat there. Bartender handed us menus and walked away. Waited about 5 minutes and asked bartender if we could order drinks. He said your server will be with you shortly. Waited about another 10 minutes. No server approached us. A lady and her kids came in and sat across from us at the bar. They no more than sat down and a server came, gave them menus and chips and salsa and asked them what they wanted to drink. Sat for 5 more minutes. No server came, no chips and salsa, no one took our drink order. Rest of the restaurant was not crowded at all. I don’t like Jon Taffer but this place needs him or someone who can teach them common sense restaurant customer service. I am lucky enough to live full time on Castle Rock so I have been able to give them a try at least a dozen times since they opened 6 months ago. I wish them nothing but the best but they’ve got to start getting better with their service. I’m not seeing that happen.

Great food. Really great salsa with your chips, right off the bat. I ordered the fajitas Texanas, which had shrimp, chicken and steak, and it was very good. Also, very filling. Most of the meat and vegetables wouldn't fit into the three tortillas you get. So I brought the rest home. My wife ordered Quesabirria which was tortillas filled with meat and cheese and grilled. Kind of like a double taco and then you sink it in a consome. She said it was delicious. We both had Margheritas. Mine was mango and hers a regular, though neither of us could detect any alcohol. Overall, the food was great and came out fast. Service was great. They were not busy when we arrived at 3PM.

I spent the summer living in the area and visited 11 times. This is my favorite restaurant that has occupied this space since Splash. The food is surprisingly authentic for being in the middle of Wisconsin. The al pastor tacos and fajitas were my go to all summer. The chips and salsa are always great. I wish they had a spicier salsa tho. The homemade guac is amazing, and the margaritas are fantastic. They also have plenty of boat slips. I highly recommend this place if looking for a place to eat on the lake.

We came by boat to try it out for the first time. It turned out to be our last. Slow service with only half the restaurant full. It was the first WI bar I've been to that doesnt have Spotted Cow. No soap in the ladies bathroom. It took 15 minutes to pay our bill for the one round we had. Know your audience Crazy Tacos, or you wont be there much longer.

I was excited that we were getting new food choices around the lake and I love Mexican food however our experience was quite disappointing. After my daughter went up and asked the bartender if they accepted cc and they said yes, she called and told us to come up from the boat. After sitting for 20 minutes at a table, after seeing 2 waiters multiple times, we were not acknowledged, no water, no menus, so unfortunately we decided to leave.

Crazy Taco is a true gem, hands down the best Mexican food in Wisconsin. I’ve been there at least half a dozen times, and every visit has been exceptional. Whether you're dining at a table or grabbing a seat at the bar, the food is consistently top-notch, and the staff treats you like family.

If you are looking for traditional Mexican food and a positive experience- NOT HERE! You are given a drink menu, but can only order margaritas. You will wait over an hour for food and the food you are given is not what you are expecting. We order burritos and received enchiladas. When we explained that this is not what we ordered, we were told we are wrong?

When trying to approach management regarding concerns, the response will be don’t come back and this is not the place for you. 100% not the place for me!! Bathrooms are falling apart and if you choose to sit outside, be comfortable sitting next to a dirty building that never got a good summer clean up.

Disappointed to say the least. Came for lunch today. Wasn't busy. Service was almost nonexistent. Waited 40 minutes for our food. It was barely warm. Meat was dried out and old. Absolutely no flavor. Didn't eat mine, but was given a refund for it. Did not live up to the hype at all. Seemed extremely disorganized.

I wish I could give this place 5 stars, but I honestly can’t. I met up with girlfriends here for dinner and I was the first one at the restaurant by about 20-25mins. I got seated and waited 10 mins for someone to come and take my drink order. Within the next 10 mins, there were 3 different people that came and asked me what I wanted to drink. By the time one of my girlfriends arrived which was 25 mins later, I still hadn’t received my drink. When they took her drink order, 5 mins after she arrived, my drink finally came. There were only 4 of us (plus 2 kids). We ordered, talked, and when we were done eating, it took roughly 30mins for us to even get our checks and we were clearly done because we stacked our plates and waited for our waitress who seemed to disappear. This place has a lot of potential to be great, it does. The food is good, but the service is very iffy.

You can tell a lot about the quality of a Mexican restaurant by the quality of it's salsa and guacamole. It's obviously fresh and made in house. It's some of the best that I've had. Make sure to try the green salsa if you've never had that. They have tacos, authentic style: corn tacos, with cilantro and onion which is the way to do tacos. And get what ever fillings. Everyone in our party tried them and loved them. Food is extremely reasonably priced and you get a lot.

Here is the deal. I have eaten here 3 times. The only good food I had was the chips and salsa. The protein in the meals, steak, chicken, and shrimp (i had them each) were all over cooked and dry. Like really,over cooked and hard to eat. I would like to see this location make it, but with slow service and mediocre food, it will fail again. Just like every other failed attempt since it was Spalsh. A quick hint. If people don't want a box for leftover food, it is because it is not good enough to eat while at the restaurant. Please use this review to improve. I would love to see you succeed. I tried really hard to like this place.

Went on Memorial Day weekend so the place was packed but the wait service did a great job, they were running around making sure that everyone taken care of. The food was excellent!! Went to Crazy Taco (The Old Splash) restaurant on Cinco De Mayo. Best Mexican food we ever had. Friendly, curtious and fast service. Selma was an excellent waitress. 1/2 price margaritas on that special day. They were outstanding. They have been only open 3 months, but lookout, with that great food and service they will be very busy this summer. Plus they are right on Castlerock lake with plenty of boat docks. Definitely a place worth taking the time to visit and have a great meal and a margarita.👍👍

However, neither bathroom had toilet paper. Instead, whoever is in charge decided it would be best to put dining napkins in the bathroom on the back of the toliets... where toilet water sprays with every flush. Anyone who has wiped their mouths with these knows how rough these napkins are and anyone who has had to clean up a spilled drink with these napkins also knows how easily they tear. If the customers have to ensure these unsanitary conditions, conditions which according to the Health Department are illegal, then the employees are forced to endure these conditions as well. I am completely understanding that things go wrong, deliveries don't get made, or are delayed, and a product runs out. What I'm not understanding about is how the decision to continue unsanitary conditions was made instead of just running to the store and purchasing toilet paper?

We were there for about two hours stuffing our faces and the problem was not remedied at all during that time. I heard at least three other customers complain about this during my time there as well. I can only assume the employees had to deal with this for the whole day, possibly longer.

I can only hope that this was a one time issue. The food was really good and the server, while not exceptional, was very kind and attentive. I would love to try this place again and hopefully update my review to better reflect the food and service.

Outstanding food and service. I've gotten the Al Pastor tacos, Birria tacos, and Crazy Burrito so far, and they were all really good. I'd put this place up there with any Mexican restaurant I've been to in the US. The spicy salsa (you have to ask for it) is destination worthy. It is very spicy and flavorful.

The food was so good ! I ordered the Monster chicken quesadillas and my mom ordered Pollo Loco. We both had leftovers to take home and they were really good reheated. The chips and Salsa are so delicious .They have the best salsa ! I ordered steak and pastor tacos to go for my son , he loved them .Prices are reasonable.
Our waitress was very good.
Nice view of the lake. I can't wait to go back when it warms up and sit outside on the deck to eat .It is almost an hour drive from my house, but it is definitely worth the drive !

This was our first experience at Crazy Taco. IMO, the music was too loud resulting in the full restaurant of patrons talking loudly.
No Dr Pepper but I can live with that. Lol
I ordered the grilled chicken quesailla from the A LA Carte. I was served the meal...but it was loud so the waiter probably didn't hear me correctly. I kept the meal.
I was using my fork and picking through the chicken and discovered a big chunk of broken curved glass and smaller shards of glass. I immediately called the waiter over. I was done. I didn't want anything else. He said I didn't have to pay for it. I asked him to make sure that whole batch of shredded chicken was thrown away and anyone who was recently served it, to notify them. I did not see that happen.
Well, soon a guy (not our waiter) came over and gave us our bill. There were 4 sodas on there. We only had 2 and didn't even finish them.
I asked him if he could reassure me that the batch of shredded chicken was disposed. He said he wasn't aware of the situation but would go immediately to the kitchen. My husband asked him to take 2 of the sodas off. He took our bill and said we didn't owe anything.
Every business can have a bad day but the size of this piece of glass, should have been caught. It was thick, curved and over an inch long. It looked like the top of a glass beer bottle.

Went to the Crazy Taco with my family this past weekend for the first time, and I can guarantee it won’t be the last! The food and service were excellent. All of us were happy with our orders. Overall, the food was acceptable, but when I requested fresh coffee, I was served instant coffee in a styrofoam cup. The view from the window was unappealing due to the debris outside. Additionally, when we were asked about the type of tortillas we wanted, we specified corn but were given a package of flour tortillas instead, and my order for a side of tortillas that should have accompanied the meal was never fulfilled.

New Mexican restaurant on the lake. Only been open a few weeks. Went in afternoon to watch Badger game ( kinda sports bar). Not too busy, good service, but somewhat of a language barrier. Good selection of beer and they make a variety of special cocktails. Went back at night and the place was packed...word of mouth travels fast! We ordered food to ho which was good. I think this place can be a hit. They will need to step up the pace quite a bit come summer when they start getting slammed with boat traffic/tiki bar. Recommend.

My friends and I had a BLAST watching the bar tenders kill it making drinks. It’s evident how much fun they’re all having.

We walked in and the entire place was SLAMMED… on a Saturday in March?! We were lucky to find enough spots at the bar and so glad we did.

The bar tenders were super friendly and the food was incredible! If you get their tacos Mexican style the salsa that comes with it packs some heat! So so good!

We kept talking about how we can only imagine how insane this spot will get come summer! 😱
