Visiting friends who have a place on the island and we stopped for some tacos after cocktails. They heard rumors the food was awesome and actually open later. We stopped around 9 pm and must admit it was the best hard shell taco I have ever had. She said she finishes it in butter oil which I have no idea what that is. Go there.

We got dinner at Deer Run and played a round of mini golf. The tacos were delicious and our waitress was amazing. She was juggling a crowded patio like a one woman show and still got everyone’s orders right and filled in a timely fashion. Highly recommend!

We stopped for some food, using old info on Google indicating a biergarten. The biergarten is kaput for this summer, but Deer Run has a good menu of choices. We had pulled pork sandwiches, which were delicious. The indoor seating area is small, but, they do have outdoor seating. There's a huge lawn on the Main Road side, so if you need a place where your kids can run around a bit while you wait for food, this could be your place. There is also mini-golf. Jordan served us and even had time to share tips on her favorite places on the island. She was just one of many truly friendly people on Washington Island. It may have been the weekend before Memorial Day, so everyone is fresh and ready to go, but I think Washington Island people seem extra nice.

The amenities listed on the website are very misleading. Realizing we visited near the end of the season I still wasn’t expecting a ‘ghost town’ calling itself a resort. The drinks and food… and the Biergarten were non existent. The clubhouse was locked up with nobody around. The room was cute and clean but there was no microwave or coffee maker as promised. The view from the window onto the private patio was a weed-surrounded pump house. Very disappointing considering what you charge for the room. We reserved the room for two nights but left after the first night. Won’t be back.

I planned my ADVENTURE TO ROCK ISLAND by reserving a 2 night stay at the Deer Run Golf Course & Resort. 3 nights would have given me more time to explore Washington Island. Next trip - bring binoculars or invest in a telescope for star gazing!! At night, the golf course was dark, the stars amazing, and they looked so close. I was in a very clean, comfortable room in a fantastic location. The resort was super quiet, even though it is located along the Main Road. A coffee shop, Wis-Co, is located within walking distance around the corner and it's close to tourist musts! The rooms are air conditioned, have an overhead fan, a small refrigerator with a freezer, plenty of towels, and super comfortable beds. I was so tired after swimming at School House Beach and hiking Rock Island that I didn't bother to watch TV. Definitely a return trip and stay - maybe this fall!! The miniature golf looked like fun!

We had an updated queen bed room. Lovely room. But if staying for a few days, no dresser for your clothes. Smart TV is there, but no internet services or WiFi. We were ok as we had relatives on the island and didn't spend much time in the room and by the time we returned to the room, tired and went to sleep. New owners and managers, Eric and Jordan, couldn't be more hospitable. We did play a round of golf, its a nice course with some fun holes to play. If we need accommodations again because there is no room with the relatives, we will definitely come back. Looking forward to see what is in store in the future.

This place is Perfect in so many ways:
1) Clean and cozy rooms right on the 9th green. Included is soft toilet paper.
2) Quaint little 9 hope course kind of "old school" with wide fairways and small challenging greens.
3) Friendly bartender Hannah or Dan and Trudy the owners.
4) Dan and Trudy do an amazing job running the entire resort. Can't believe Dan is the only person who maintains the golf course!
5) Fair prices for the room, the golf and the cocktails.
6) Ending the night with a cocktail on your patio or with the locals in the pub is the perfect way to end the perfect weekend escape from the monotony of the regular days on the mainland!

We stayed in room 2 for the July 4th weekend. The bed was very comfortable, the room was spotless. We golfed three times and enjoyed each round. The owners Dan and Trudy were very down to earth. We enjoyed drinks at the bar. Hannah was also a pleasure to visit with. We would go back in a heartbeat!

My husband and I always enjoy our stay at Deer Run :) This year we got to introduce our Adult children to our little slice of heaven. The Chart house is always our choice for accommodations. Its a 2 bedroom mobile home thats very quaintly decorated and has a nice sized 3 season porch. There were 3 adult couples that stayed here in total. My son and his girlfriend slept on the sofa sleeper and both said it was pretty comfy compared to most sofa sleepers. Dan & Trudy always go above and beyond to accommodate the needs of their visitors. Prior to our stay I had asked if there was a fire pit as I couldnt remember from the year prior and a grill... The short answer was yes on the grill and no to the firepit (it wasnt a make or break thing for us just couldnt remember if it was there)... Fast forward to the day we arrived back in mid July ; Dan and Trudy accommodated our inquiry about the firepit and were putting one together for us as we pulled in to check in! They're great hosts! The chart house is literally 2 blocks from the "downtown" area which has a bank (kitty corner from the chart house), a well stocked grocery store with fairly decent prices considering its on an island as well as a well stocked general store/hardware store. Its super close to MANY of the area attractions (IE Albatross drive-in (fantastic burgers!) Schoolhouse Beach, Stavkirke church, Fragrant Isle lavendar farm, Dairy Island lavendar farm, Mountain Park Lookout tower, Farm museum, Bars, Little Lake Trail, & Jacobson Museum) and also a quick short drive from Rock Island State Park Ferry, Percy Johnson swimming Beach & Park (has grills bring charcoal!), Sand Dunes swimming beach & park, Jackson Harbor Maritime Museum and fantastic sunrises and sunsets minutes away. Its a great place to stay and I recommend it if you're ever in need of a place to stay when going to Washington Island! Save us a Lil slice of island though ;)

My friends and I recently stayed in the Chart House of Deer Run. The space includes 2 beds, including a pullout sofa bed in the living room—more than enough space for 2 individuals and 1 couple. Easy to find with a private driveway separate from the rest of the resort, we had out own bathroom, outdoor yard, picnic table, and fire pit. Service was friendly, but distant given the current COVID situation. Although none of us golf, we spent the days out on the lake (a quick drive/bike ride away) and the nights grilling outside and stargazing. Would definitely recommend.

We stayed in the lodge for a long weekend away. Very close to the beaches and to the downtown area. Our room was very clean and spacious. My husband was able to enjoy a round of golf on the course! Nothing but good things to say, we highly recommend for a great weekend on the island!

The course was not crowded at all on a Saturday at 1pm. A fun easy course for the whole family. The greens were tough with a lot of undulation. This was a great break from all the touristy stuff. The bar look like a good place to have a snap. They also have a small pro shop with golf shirts and anything else you forgot to bring over on the ferry. Have fun, we will be back next year. They also have a miniature golf course.

On our recent trip to Door County we decided to spend the day on Washington Island. This is a great little family owned golf course. The owners were great at providing recommendations about the island. The three room hotel is so quaint-wish we realized they had rooms before we booked on the "mainland" we would've stayed here. Next trip to the island we definitely will!

Staff were nice and a decent clubhouse. The greens were small but in great shape. Hole 6 was a difficult par 5; blind tee shot around a bend and more trees to go around to reach the green. Sand pits definitely in good shape. It made for an interesting trip to the island over a ferry and hit a nice course to make for a good day.

5 stars. I am a D1 golfer and though this place may not be of the highest quality, I had a really good time using the rental clubs (we came by boat) and had lots of laughs. Good, fun golf.

There are only a few rooms right on the golf course. The rooms are very clean. The bed linens and towels are clean, soft and comfortable. The hotel is kept up extremely well. There is a gift shop. The owners are friendly and helpful. We stayed there because we could not get in elsewhere, On my next visit to the island I will call Deer Run first.

This is our first visit and will definitely come back. We usually camp so this was a treat. The resort staff was great. Our room was great. Everything was great! I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Hot coffee was available in the morning. There is no restaurant or continental breakfast.

We stopped at the Information Center entering Door County. The attendant told us we could not find a room on Washington Island that night. We made 2 calls and had a reservation at Deer Run. The people were home town folks. We had a clean, comfortable room at a reasonable rate, with Wi-Fi. Perhaps the most helpful thing was the owner taking time to mark a map of the island with points of interest. We followed this for the day we had and enjoyed it very much. I would be glad to stay there again.

Deer Run was a great place to stay. The rooms were very clean and the location was close to downtown yet very quiet. We have stayed at many places on the island, but this is by far our favorite. They even had satellite TV and air conditioning which is rare to find on the island. We enjoyed sitting at our umbrella table and watching golfers.||The golf course was very scenic and we had a great time. It was laid back yet challenging.||We look forward to this being a yearly event.
