So I took a shot in the dark and stayed at Deerfoot for my first trip ever to the area for fishing. We stayed in Cabin 2 from Saturday - Tuesday. We are in love… Amanda (current owner as of October 2023), was sooo nice and personable. Kaylie (I hope I remembered to spell it right) was an awesome bartender at night and always made my 7 year old son feel welcomed. The other bartender (I’m sorry I can’t remember, you lived near) was very personable during the morning. The other two employees I met briefly were males… one for the pontoon rental and another for bait. Both were as professional and friendly.

The cabin was fairly clean… could have been better under the furniture. I say that because my son found two quarters on the floor immediately, but overall, my complaints are minimal and it exceeded my expectations.

The bar has really good food, as limited as it is. It’s clean, spaced out, and comfortable.

The grounds we really didn’t get to experience fully because of the weather and time of year. However, from what we saw, it will be a great place to come back to in the summer.

We rented a pontoon… “eh.” You get what you get. It obviously isn’t a fishing boat, but we rented it because they do have livewells and a chart plotter. It was safer and easier for us to fish off a pontoon that a fishing boat. Rental price is high in my opinion, BUT they are competitive with every other resort that rents pontoons. Would I rent a boat again from Deerfoot? Absolutely.

Where I was most disappointed was the fish cleaning station. It’s small, cramped, one outlet over the sink (not work area), uninsulated/unconditioned, and they still rely on the multiple 5 gallon bucket system for the fish waste collection. With two fisherman in there cleaning only perch, it was cramped.

We consider Deerfoot our home away from home! We love returning here every year and knowing the owner and staff well! The fishing is fantastic and we always do very well. The hotel is perfect for us as we spend most of the time on the water. Very friendly staff, private landing and beach and power at the docks for charging boat batteries. The fish cleaning house is perfect with being screened in away from the bugs and well lit. Our reason for vacationing here is to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We've made so many important memories here and always look forward to many more. Thank you Deerfoot!!!

We didn't stay at Deerfoot Lodge for our vacation, but we rented a Pontoon boat from them for the week. They had the best price for a weekly rate on the lake and were fabulous and easy to work with. When we picked up the boat we got a "tour" of the boat and how to work the Hummingbird system. The gentleman was thorough in explaining everything to us. The boat was clean and in great condition. |Dropping off the boat was a breeze. When we were waiting for the inspection to be completed we hung out at the bar for about 30 minutes. The bartenders were amazing and the food that they were making looked top notch for a lake resort! I can't speak to the lodging or the grounds but the customer service and attention to detail was amazing. We will absolutely rent from Deerfoot again and are considering looking into the resort for our next summer vacation!

What a wonderful place to stay with our family! We had three hotel rooms rented for three families and Deerfoot was the perfect spot! Not only did our rooms provide us with everything we needed, the staff was beyond accommodating! We were able to fish off the docks, swim on the swim platform, hang at the sand beach, we rented a pontoon, ate delicious meals at the lodge (you MUST try the peanut butter bacon burger!!), and could even host a large family cookout and bonfire down near the beach. It was perfect!

Also, the last few years we’ve rented one of Deerfoot’s pontoon boats - it’s such a great way for the whole family to spend the day on the water together! Deerfoot is the best!

We rented a pontoon for the day from Deerfoot Lodge and it was a great experience. Checking was easy and the instructions on how to use the pontoon were great. The pontoon itself was new and made navigating the Chippewa Flowage a breeze.

We actually didn't stay here but our pontoon ran out of gas. Luckily we had two boats on the lake so the 2nd boat went here to get enough gas to get us to the dock at Deerfoot. When we got the pontoon docked, we were greeted by a friendly guy (maybe owner?). He offered to give my 80 year old Dad a ride up to the restroom. Place looks very clean! Will stay here in the future!

Absolutely great experience. We rented a pontoon boat. The owner was extremely friendly and accommodating….. the man that helped us on the dock was outstanding as well. This was our first stay at Deerfoot Resort and we really enjoyed it. We stayed in cabin 8 with our 3 grandchildren and had plenty of room. The screened in porch with patio furniture was an added bonus for extra room and spectacular views of the flowage. The cabin was clean and has ample supplies for a comfortable stay. Nice grounds with swimming beach and playground for the kids. And separate assigned piers for cabins was an added bonus. The lodge was comfortable with a nice game room, bar, and dining tables. Food was great and Amanda and staff were friendly and helpful.

I've been coming to Deerfoot since I was a little boy. The quality has always stayed impeccable and Amanda has brought the property to new heights!

We just rented a boat this year but the process was seemless and I love how they take pictures and verify everything is how it was after you return the boat. Makes the whole process a whole lot smoother.

Take some time to figure out what special events they have planned for while you are there. They do alot of extra stuff not many resorts around the area do and its like anything in life you get out of it what you put in.

Id highly recommend a vacation at Deerfoot if you are looking for a hassle free escape to the North woods!

Amanda and her staff are amazing! They make you feel like a cherished family member. The location on "The Big Chip" is fantastic and provides a great view from your room. Access to the water during warm weather and the ice in the winter is perfect. So many fantastic amenities for year around anglers you will definitely come back year after year. It is time to write a review since I have stayed here many years during a special weekend I share with many friends. My recent stay with Deerfoot Lodge & Resort was truly exceptional, again! The entire staff is second to none and I have been to many resorts. Amanda makes everyone feel at ease and is a true titan that handles anything your group may need help with so everyone can be relaxed and really have a great time. Amanda hires the greatest crew to serve up not only food and drink, but smiles and a big "welcome back"! The food is hot, yummy and served promptly. We’ve stayed in the hotel rooms and this time we had a cabin for an annual group ice fishing event. Everything is always very clean, comfortable and well maintained. The owner and staff are very welcoming and friendly. The food in the bar is fantastic! Don’t be afraid of the peanut butter bacon burger. It’s delicious! Very easy access for great fishing. Stayed 3 nites at Deerfoot in a hotel room ( room H). Room H is a ground floor room where you can park right outside the room for ground floor entry. Open the back patio doors to the outside patio/lawn area and to see the lake with a beautiful view. It also has a handicapped accessible shower with a separate hand held spray head and seated area inside of the shower. The perfect place for anyone with mobility issues. Awesome bartenders and a bar menu that can't be beat! My third year back and already reserved for next year! Amanda and the staff are wonderful and will do everything to make your stay enjoyable! Definitely recommend Deerfoot to anyone looking for a great place to stay with reasonable prices!!

I recently stayed in one of the hotel rooms at Deerfoot. The room was spacious and beautiful, with a kitchenette, coffee, microwave, and nice fridge with separate freezer section. There was a deck area accessed by sliding patio door. The bar served great burgers and pizza among other menu items. The staff were amazing, working long hours during a Musky school event put on by the resort. The Chippewa Flowage is beautiful and the colors, while past peak, were still amazing. We chose the hotel part rather than cabins and our view was spectacular! We went out on Chippewa Flowage on pontoon. One of the knowledgeable staff went with us and we learned so much about the Northwoods culture, bogs, fishing, etc. The room was clean, neat, and with everything we needed. The breakfast sandwiches in the morning were some of best we’ve eaten. The staff was super accommodating and friendly. We will return for sure.

Just spent a week at Deerfoot with my 3 brothers - had an absolutely fantastic time! We stayed in Cabin 10 and accommodations were just what we needed. The weather was perfect, we caught fish and were able to relax and enjoy this beautiful area. We had an unfortunate run in with “Shear Pin” corner on the pontoon boat - the water was down and we had to replace the prop after the 3-day rental - the only downside of the trip. The staff was friendly, courteous and professional! Spotted Cows on tap at the bar are a must-have - burgers were awesome! Our Memorial Day Weekend stay was our second year staying at Deerfoot Lodge and we plan to continue the tradition every year! We stayed in Cabin 1 which had plenty of room for our party of 13! We will be reserving 2 cabins next year as our group continues to grow😊 The resort is clean, great location and great food. They had live music on Sunday afternoon which we enjoyed. The resort is only 30 minutes from Hayward for cute shops and restaurants. We also rented an extra boat for the day and we were able to have the boat the night before so that we could start fishing at sunrise!

Amanda is such a wonderful resort owner in this place is truly an amazing little gem on the Chippewa Flowage. This past weekend was our second stay at Deerfoot for our annual fall UTV trip. We usually bounce around and don't stay at the same place twice, but the 14 of us decided that after staying at a different location last year that we definitely wanted to return to Deerfoot this year.
All the accommodations were great. Rooms were clean!

Our fishing group is a repeat customer and we will come back next year. Clean, comfortable (not fancy) cabins are perfect for our purposes. Pillows are a little flat and pots and pans are a little tired but those are minor items. Great dock with power for the boat/charger. Excellent lake views. The food at the bar is great! we have eaten all three meals in a day there and have not been disappointed. The staff is really friendly and make us feel at home. We have had friends that stayed in the cabins and they are very nice, clean, and very convenient for getting out on the water. They are perfect for a family or group getaway.

What a gem! Situated on a point or peninsula surrounded by water the Deerfoot Lodge is a perfect Northern Wisconsin treat! Vintage and nostalgic, and comfortable and reminiscent. Preservation of geat history. Comfy beds, cozy bar, easy assess to fishing, cross country skiing and boating! We will be back next year! Also hope for a family getaway to remind my family of what it means to be "UP North".

Stayed in the lodge and it was very clean and well stocked. The mini kitchen is all you need for food prep especially for hungry anglers on the go. They also furnish a full size weber charcoal grill which makes grilling lakeside a pleasure. The beds are comfortable and the view spectacular. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Will definitely return to fish the big chip again! Oh, and the fishing boat was extremely reliable and well equipped with graph and trolling motor.

We greatly enjoyed our weeks stay at Deerfoot. We stayed in one of the motel units, which served our needs well. We found the entire property to be clean and efficient. The staff was approachable, available and friendly. And the bartenders in the lodge were extremely friendly and helpful. Plus our food was cooked to order and tasted great. The live music on two afternoons was an unexpected welcome bonus.

FINALLY have some time to write a review of our INCREDIBLE experience at Deerfoot Lodge. First off, the grounds are IMPECCABLE! We stayed in Cabin 5 and it was absolutely perfect the accommodations were stellar. Not to save for the fact that the food is top shelf we could not get enough of our night and burgers and my boys flipped out for the onion rings!!! The beach is super clean, the gradual slope out to the swim dock was absolutely perfect. Probably most important to us is the attention the owners gave us in our correspondence leading up to arriving. We had a personal situation come up in Georgia, which threw a monkey wrench in our original booking, but they were so darned helpful, and it couldn't have worked out better! The staff that is hired there are absolutely top shelf, a big shout out to the guys who take care of the bait the boat rentals and all of that! So friendly caring and Casey even brought minnows right to our cabin! The girls in the bar were top shelf, and a special shout out to Adam who clearly has his pulse on this operation. An absolutely wonderful time had by all. I've been going to the flowage most of my life, I used to stay at Pat's Landing back in the day when the Seddons owned it, and this is the first time I've had that family feel again in all these years! We cannot thank you enough and simply cannot wait to see you all again next year! My boys are begging for a fall Walleye/musky trip so you may see us sooner than later! The owner was very nice. The pizza was not good at all but the burger was one of the best I have ever had. I would have rated it higher but the connectivity was poor. I couldn't even make a cell phone call from my room. I had to walk into the parking lot to talk. Unfortunately, I can't completely untether whether I go on vacation. The wifi was very weak in the lodge (none outside the lodge) and I couldn't always get a connection with my laptop. Overall though I enjoyed the Hayward area.

Ok. I nearly drowned and froze to death. But I still come every year. Lucky Cabin #9. Just to add a sad tale. My brother Shawn passed away last week. He loved staying here. He loved fishing. Some of his ashes will be scattered here next year. So he can fish forever.
