Both myself and a friend ordered the special, Manhattan center cut, medium rare. Both of us had gristle (sp?) which the sauce covered up so unable to cut away. This supper club in Madison’s west side has been in business over 50 years so we had to check it out! The place definitely has a classic supper club feel with lots of small, square dining areas giving visitors lots of privacy which is appreciated. Everything started out great with multiple people attending to us and taking our order. The drinks were ok but the calamari was absolutely amazing! Moving on to the main courses we had the chicken Caesar salad and the featured steak of the evening. The salad was good but the steak was legit RAW when we ordered it medium. After dropping our food, our waiter never came back! Eventually after 20/25 minutes we flagged someone down to get the steak cooked more but it kind of ruined the entire experience. Overall it was ok but we won’t be back 🤷🏼‍♀️

I sat at the bar as it was prime dinner time and I didn't want to wait. The service is phenomenal. I will state that I would hard pass on the fillet mignon. It was cooked to order, but it was the toughest fillet I have ever had. They do not season the meat with anything. Also it had the most off putting taste. I didn't even eat half of it. If anyone had asked me how I liked my dish, I would have said something, but alas no one ever did. Not even when they took the plate away. Anyway, I might give the restaurant another try with a different dish, but for the prices they charge, one could go elsewhere for half the price.

If you're looking for that supper club vibe, with attention to service and great food, this is the place to go. My wife and I had our first date night in months and we decided to visit Delaney's (first time for both of us). It was a great choice. I had the prime rib, which was cooked perfectly, served with crispy hash browns and a delicious au just. My wife had the walleye, which was done exactly right and came with an amazingly different tartar sauce. The servers were exemplary in their attentiveness. Definitely a great date night dinner.

We shared another wonderful and special occasion at Delaneys. It was a birthday outing for me and our waiter treated us very well. He took a photo, served us promptly and shared in our happy occasion. The food as always was delicious. We enjoyed the filet and shrimp combo, chicken oscar, filet, seafood bisque and wedge salad. The founder of Delaneys (Jim) was from my hometown, Hartford, Wisconsin, where the Delaneys had a fine quality clothing store. The Hartford clothing store logo was the same script signage style as the current restaurant in Madison. The Delaney clothing store (closed) and now the Delaney restaurant excel(ed) in high quality product and service. The current Delaney family is continuing the excellent business reputation by serving delicious meals in a relaxed restaurant setting.

Amazing Experience at Delaney’s!

A friend recommended Delaney’s, and we are so glad we went! We were celebrating my wife’s birthday, and from the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome. Everyone was so friendly—we felt like we talked to the whole team!

The food was absolutely amazing. I had the steak and shrimp, which was cooked to perfection, and my wife had the Chicken Oscar, which she loved. To top it all off, they surprised her with a complimentary piece of cheesecake at the end of our meal—a thoughtful touch that made the evening even more special.

This was truly one of the best dining experiences we’ve had. The service, atmosphere, and food were all top-notch. We will definitely be back next time we’re in town!

We have been to Delaney's many times over the last 30 years and believe this is a Madison treasure. We came when Jim Delaney was the evident host every night and had our first and greatest salad bar there. We returned tonight on Jan.24, 2025 during restaurant week and, as always, had a spectacular dinner. The cocktails are very good, the onion rings are unbelievable, and every dinner - steak or seafood is outstanding. The restaurant itself is so comfortable with a very moderate noise level. We will return and highly recomment Delaney's.

I ordered a special of the day, the lamb shank, and it was cooked well but my potatoes were very dry and my husband's steak was overcooked and chewy for it being Waygu. I’ve come one time previously but it was months ago. Both times I’ve sat at the bar and really enjoyed the hospitality. The bartenders also had tables and were very attentive to all of us at the bar and the tables. I’ve had the prime rib and filet here and both times were perfectly cooked and enjoyable. Last night I had a couple of their margaritas and they were great. I hope to make a visit back to Madison in the future and will definitely ensure to swing by again. If you get a chance to try their upcoming fall drink menu, definitely do so, especially the apple cider margarita! Arrived sort of late in the day and was able to be seated immediately the original table I was placed at was near the kitchen but the staff asked if I wanted some place more quiet and they moved me. The wait staff made the meal a lot better than I think the actual taste was. They were very attentive (sometimes a little too aggressive) but I was well taken care of. I arrived during restaurant week and it was a prefixed menu option and the wedge salad was very good and simple. The filet were cooked perfectly I felt had too much going on and took away from the quality of the meat. And the cream cheese dessert was a nice capper to a good meal. Restaurant Week Day 3. We returned to Delaney’s for the crispiest wedge salad ever, filets and chose the cream cheese mousse dessert. Wonderful experience. My medium rare was pretty red .. so decide. Wonderful garlic whipped potatoes, leek carrots, mushroom gravy rounded out the filet presentation. I forgot to snap the wedge. It is a half wedge so you can eat it all. With such great reviews and lots of recommendations from friends we thought this was a fail safe. Ribeye was dry, almost like previously frozen or poor quality cut. Weird taste with the Chicken Oscar. Sold out of the seafood bisque at 6:30p.m though it's on the menu. Service was like a dual dude situation, confusing at times. My one suggestion is they could do a better job with their soup. It’s often really thick, lacks flavor, kind of like canned soup. We usually skip the soup and have a perfect meal.

The newest “upscale” restaurant in Madison is Coopers Hawk. Went there tonight to see how it fared.

It was BAD. Little parking, prices are outrageous, food is mediocre, the noise level - it was like Grand Central Station in the middle of the day, they really want you to join their “wine club” $$$.

They have been open for 3 days. I give them 36 months before they change hands.

Delaneys? Have been in business for over 50 years. There are many reasons why. Do yourself a favor -skip Coopers Hawk and go directly to Delaneys.

Our server, Jason, made an error and instead of taking responsibility told us, “that’s what you get”. Overall, my experience was horrible. I wish I was exaggerating. I am not. I ordered the Wagyu, it was bland and almost grey looking? The service was even worse than the food. I wish I could recall her name but she had redish crazy hair, extremely unprofessional, unpleasant to look at, and rude. I asked for a Pepsi, but she was very insistent on getting me a Diet Pepsi instead. Going out to eat is a luxury and should feel like one. Do not come here if you wish to be fat shamed, eat horrible steak, and overhear the servers talking about the owner vaping in the kitchen. Disgusting.

Delaney’s is a Madison tradition. It is very unassuming on the outside though it is nicely updated in the inside, with lots of exposed brick and wood. We’ve been making our way to all of west Madison’s steak places and Delaney’s is our favorite thus far. We went on a Friday and the bar was happening! I had a filet and my wife had the Chicken Oscar. While the place is amazing the wait staff doesn't quite grasp the difference in med rare and rare. Made a 60 dollar meal become a 60 dollar plate holder. When asked about it. They refused to fix it and said that i could order another to leather quality if I would like. And then told me Prime is suppose to be served rare. If you're in the mood for a wonderful dinner...go check them out. I had the Ribeye which was amazing. Coworker had the NY and said it was perfect as well. The staff was top notch. Couldn't have had a better time tonight.

I rarely give a bad review, but the wait for food was long, I got the prime rib, (it looked good) and not only was it a thin slice, very bland, like a steak your mom would cook on the stove, the servers were shoving plates in your face, and it was annoying everyone, zero warning,we kept saying ( in coming) on! The whole experience was a bummer. Save your money, and go downtown, pretty much anywhere. Over priced, and not worth it in my opinion.

Ordered the bone in ribeye that they charge almost 60 dollars for. The steak came out on a RIPPING hot metal plate. It splattered oil all over the place hitting not only me but the person next to me. By the time it was safe to even try to cut it, the steak was pushing well done (I ordered medium rare). The few bites I tried from the steak were horribly salty with no other seasoning, the "truffle" butter had no extra flavor. The person next to me ordered chicken oscar and the crab that came with it smelled like pond scum and made her sick not even an hour later. We weren't charged for the meals but I'm out one white shirt thanks to the splattering. I've had bad restaurant experiences but being hit with hot oil is a first. I rarely, if ever leave reviews but hopefully this one finds somebody before they make they mistake of spending a big lump of cash on this place.

Recently celebrated my birthday here. Reasonably priced for Fine Dining considering the level of service, and quality of the food. All sauces and dressings are made in house, and you can taste the difference. Even the fudge on my complimentary birthday sundae was made on site. My Mother even complemented the staff on the cleanliness of the restroom. 5⭐️

Loved it. Came in on a Friday, sat in the open seating by the bar and had a great experience. The drinks were awesome and the prime rib was great. I'll be back in town at least two more time over the course of the next few months for Epic training and this will definitely be one of my stops each time.

Service was fast and extremely attentive.. unfortunately I don't remember my waiters names but everyone in the bar area makes sure you are well taken care of.

Gray food. Delicious steak and meat dishes. Very experienced wait staff - all highly professional and long tenured. Filet is tasty and we’ll prepared. Not a large dessert menu but what they offer is very good. Their Wisconsin brandy old fashioned is very tasty and nicely done.
It’s especially alot of fun to sit and eat at a high table or bar if you’re a small group.

We had a wonderful experience Saturday night at Delaney's. We found a nice place to sit at the bar and had our appetizer there with a very friendly waiter. We then moved into the dining room for our dinner. We never felt rushed or hurried and everything was at a very nice pace. The homemade blue cheese dressing was amazing. The prime rib was wonderful! We then went and enjoyed some after dinner drinks at the bar and enjoyed talking with the bartender. We've never been there before but we'll definitely be back!! Very nice & cozy supper club in the middle of Madison!!!

We haven't been to Delaney's for about 10 years. It hasn't changed much - classic decor. The steaks were quite good, T-bone and filet. Old Fashioneds were also good. The service was not good. The waiters were not there when we wanted one, and it was hard to get their attention. Annoying. So, good food but not a great experience.

First time visiting and will certainly be returning. We were the birthday & birthday eve party. Reservations definitely needed, surprised they could accommodate 3 on a short notice reservation. We arrived at 5 and by time we left the bar and tables were jam packed! The braised pork shank was fall off the bone tender seasoned to perfection and the sides were delicious. Delightfully surprised the Calamari was perfect light battered crust tender inside. Both of the NY Strips cooked just shy of medium but served on a hot metal plate to maintain temp and continue with slow radiant heat. Both guys said they never had a better steak. Unfortunately we didn't take food pictures. Either our servers were training new folks or they had 4 servers for our little party of 3 who asked for a far corner seat. We never felt rushed nor were the staff intrusive even though we were there for 2.5 hours. Thanks Delaney's for making my 60th birthday (eve) a great memory.

We’ve eaten here a few times and I feel the service has consistently been the best part.

Tonight we had the crab cakes followed by the pork shank with mashed potatoes and red cabbage and the six oz filet with mashed potatoes.

The food is good but not mind blowing. Like I said our servers have been top notch.

The bar opens at 1600 and dinner service begins at 1700. The bar is first come first serve otherwise reservations are recommended.

Just disappointing. Call exactly at 4 to get a reservation. Told no opening until 830. Ok cool. Get to reservation. Prime rib sold out. Ok. Can't control that. No where's these adult ice cream beverages that I see people post about? The desert menu? They never were mentioned. Idk just bad service? Idk. Won't be back.

Food is great with fair prices! This would easily be a 5, but my last experience left something to be desired. We had an 8:30 reservation (I know, late, but it's not like we just showed up unexpectedly), and while the wait staff didn't rush us it was obvious the chef was rushing and trying to get us out as fast as possible. Our steak was under cooked (rare instead of med rare; cool pink center), and the food was simply yeeted on the plate. I normally don't care too much, but for a $150 bill I'd expect better service.

Ended up hitting up Delaney's last minute short notice on Friday night when the place we originally wanted to go-to had an hour and 45 minute wait (no reservations allowed) we called and we were able to make a reservation for 8, got there early and were able to get in right away. I had always heard how great Delaney's was from friends and coworkers. Needless live completely lived up to the hype. The clam chowder was amazing, followed best a super tasty filet mignon (my boyfriend had the prime rib and gave it 5 stars) and super good garlic mash. We truly enjoyed everything from the staff to the decor to the amazing food. Keep up the great great jobs!

Wow! A restaurant that still does it right! Meal was paced nicely, food was fabulous. Most places are a day late and a dollar short, but Delaney’s is still on top of their game. I had filet au poivre and hubby had ribeye. Get the hash browns!

Food, service, and drinks were really excellent, not the the the easiest place if you’re vegan, however, the staff does the best they can to accommodate.
Drinks for made with perfection meals were absolutely outstanding. Service made you feel very taken care of.
