I’ve been a customer for years, and have worked here. May seem biased, but the more recent 2025 service, servers, cooks, and food have gotten a lot better.

I left upset because I had a food safe education and the managers did not and wouldn’t allow me to be a manager when I was a server and cook on 3rd shift (open 24/7)

But the morning service waitress Jess runs laps around this restaurant and has been running that show for over 20 years. Reliable!

Still working on keeping our cooks happy, we can’t seem to keep 1 for very long here.

“If I have to come over that counter/bar to do your job, you won’t like me…” let’s keep making this place better before they take it away from us…

Very very slow service. Booths have ripped up cushions, floor was slippery. I'm have a disability and the floors were horrible. The food was greasy and barley warm. Finally a Denny's at the food is edible service was awesome food came out pretty fast and the potatoes were not overcooked and the egg wasn't undercooked and it wasn't too salty it was seasoned perfectly. Placed my first to go order with Denny’s as we were visiting in Boston. Placed my to go order and it said they would email me when the order is ready. I never received an email ever. Finally went into the store and check and my food was sitting there getting cold. No email. Most of the food was good, but I ordered an extra order of hashbrowns and they were burnt and tasted burnt and in the picture it looks like it’s a full order when you order it a side of hashbrowns, but there were a few put on the plate with the rest of my food And they were burnt so they were not edible for me. I had to throw them out.

In forty five years of paying for LOTS of meals at restaurants, from the local "choke n puke" to three star Michelin on four continents I can honestly say that this Denny's, this time, earned EVERY STAR.

The chef made the effort to plate up his dishes as they appeared on the menu. And they tasted excellent.

The service was an ABSOLUTE RAVE! The young lady, who was in training, managed to teach her shift supervisor about observing customers. "When we play with our utensils or try to suck water from the ice cubes, we usually need something," is what I overheard her saying. Our party never got remotely near that; she watched us and her other 9 setups like a HAWK. She was truly attentive, graceful, and very purposeful in everything she did. She anticipated every possible request before we knew we wanted anything. This young woman demonstrated the only reason tipping should exist. NOT BECAUSE the "uh...Murican" food service industry INTENTIONAL set about, through coordinated planning amongst all restaurants of the time, to deny wages to immigrant of the time (read - slaves, foreigners and other "undesirables.") This practice is why the workers of the Food Service INDUSTRY are the second lowest paid workers in uh..MURICA, right in front of farm workers.

Remember, tipping IS ABOUT keeping a class of individuals underpaid, immobile, and dependent upon those who ONLY ever pay lip service to "trickle down fake-conomy" but will NEVER, not even on their deathbed, actually put it into practice.

Note: Tipping is not only considered offensive overseas, in most countries it is COMPLETELY unnecessary as Food Service S ctor employees are paid on the same scale as any other trade craft; which IS what it is. So think about that when Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) employees get snotty about not getting their ENTITLED 20% tip or all of these establishments that put it on the receipt for you as a forgone conclusion. Especially when the service, food, atmosphere was absolute sh|t OR a drive thru pick up. QSR is ONLY ever about investment returns thru the franchise licensing through to the corporate brand name. You are paying SURGE PRICES at Mickey D's to pay dividends to foreign investors. Best estimates, 60% of your price at the counter goes straight OUT of your local economy, some brands, 80%.

Denny's is a "Special Use Case." The roadside diner is a staple part of The Great American Experience. If you're old enough you'll remember Howard Johnson's. Every hotel had a restaurant. Not anymore. Denny's never made the fatal mistake of "bundling services" (sleeping, eating) under the same business license. Denny's has always been a roadside diner.

And the Denny's in Mauston, Wisconsin, on that day,.with that waitress and chef were the best roadside diner I've ever come across.

We went to your restaurant yesterday Sept. 2, 2024, got there at 10:26 a.m. ordered our food and waited 45 minutes before food was served to us! It wasn’t the cooks it was the service of the waitress, she walked around taking orders but never stopped by the counter to take the food and deliver it to the tables, the counter where the chefs place the food was full and it ended up that another waitress started delivering food to the tables, bringing coffee to customers for refills, while the line was backed up for customers coming in and people trying to pay their bill, kept backing up. One couple that was waiting longer than us got up and left, I don’t blame them, and a few people waiting to be seated yelled this is ridiculous! no one acknowledged them being there.! We were at your restaurant a few months back and the service wasn’t that much better. Obviously no one seems to care about their service! Dennys in Mauston WI, it will be a very long time before if ever come back to you!

We stopped here on our way home from a very long trip, looking for something quick to eat, but not fast food. I love Denny's anyway. We kind of already know what we like, but that varies at times, of course. My daughter has medical issues that affect her appetite, so she tends to get food from the kids' menus. She's 14, but I'd rather she eat what she can and not waste a bunch of food. The server immediately had an issue with that, but let us know that by her dirty looks and attitude. She was really rude, right off the bat. It was so disappointing. When I asked her for some nachos, she said nothing and walked away, no eye contact, not a word. I didn't even know she got the order until she shows up with the plate, and I had to inform her I didn't want pico. I also informed her that she walked away too fast for me to have a chance to tell her. Mysteriously, she cleaned up her attitude immediately. She did tell us that the chef would probably not last because "he can't even read English". I was flabbergasted. Such a strange thing to share with customers???
Now as far as the food and environment:
It was clean, no complaints there.
The food was good, only a few minor issues but otherwise no real issues, same Dennys food.

There was only 2 servers, and if I had to guess under 7 tables, so each waitress should've had 3/4 small tables (no insane 4+, 8+ parties) so that should've been manageable as a waitress. My mom and I watched the cooks in the back move incredibly slow and set out food for it to sit there for over 15 minutes. I was also given the wrong type of bacon, requested what I asked for, and then proceeded to wait and get it 5 minutes before I left. I'm a waitress at a place very similar, and from a server standpoint of view, I understand being stressed with all the different requests and orders but this was just unacceptable.

Also, when serving pancakes, French toast, whatever, always provide butter!! Saves you guys a trip! If a customer asks for jelly while ordering, GRAB IT!!

Very little food and not prepared well! Looks nothing like the menu pictures! Ordered a steak, not that great! Waste of money! They have gone down hill as a restaurant

Sausage in gravy and biscuits was not good tasting. Eggs benny cost 2x for half the food. Hollandaise sause was thick and ham was too thick, eggs were fried not poached. Not quite right.
