We love this place! Recently have been on an Indian kick and have tried a handful of places around Madison. Out of Amber, Swad and Swagat, but Dhaba is my favorite place! Food is consistently great! Borderline addicting LOL. Service is always prompt, polite and friendly! Atmosphere is clean and welcoming! We go quite a bit so I’m sure they recognize us but always welcome us! We love coming here and will continue. We live on the far east side of Madison so for us to drive to Middleton, it has to be great! Dhaba hits all the marks!

Dhaba is something of a religion for my family and I. We go pretty routinely, about once a week, and have done so for years. Never once has there been bad service, even when it's busy, though we usually get take out or go fairly early in the service. The food is always excellent and the portions are generous by local standards. Best Indian food for the price in the area, by far.

Disappointing Experience at Dhaba Indian Bistro, Middleton, WI

As someone who travels frequently and dines out often, I was eager to try Dhaba Indian Bistro in Middleton, WI, based on its reputation. Unfortunately, my experience was far from impressive.

Ambiance:
The only positive aspect of my visit was the ambiance. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and feels inviting, which sets the stage for a great meal. However, that's where the positives end.

Food:
I ordered the Dal Makhni and Tandoori Roti. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. The Dal Makhni was easily the worst I've ever had at any Indian restaurant. Typically, Dal Makhni is rich and flavorful, with a perfect blend of spices and herbs. Sadly, this version lacked any depth of flavor and tasted bland. I couldn't even bring myself to finish it. For a dish that is usually a highlight in Indian cuisine, this was a major letdown.

Service:
The service was another major issue. My server seemed to carry an attitude that was, frankly, uncalled for. I failed to find any courtesy in his manner, which only added to my frustration. A little professionalism and politeness can go a long way, especially when diners expect a certain level of service at any restaurant.

Final Thoughts:
While Dhaba Indian Bistro might have a nice ambiance, the quality of the food and the lackluster service were big disappointments. For a place that offers Indian cuisine, they should pay more attention to the authentic flavors that make the dishes memorable. I’m not sure I’ll be returning anytime soon, and I certainly can’t recommend it based on my experience.

I have been to 49/50 states and 37 countries, so far this is the best Indian food I have had anywhere in the world. It is always difficult to find a good mango chicken option since many restaurants do not make it, I was delighted to find not just chicken but lamb, shrimp and vegetable mango options as well. As a fan of extremely spicy food I elected for "6/6" and it did not disappoint, it was the perfect level of serious burn but not overwhelming with a solid build rather than an instant burn. My wife's butter chicken (3/3 spice) was also excellent and perfectly balanced for the level she ordered. Every single thing we tried from the menu was absolutely delicious. I even came back the next day to try the salmon tikka and it was also fantastic. Samosas, mango chutney, garlic naan, (Wisconsin) cheese naan, lamb vindaloo, mango lassi, pistachio kulfi and kheer; every single thing we ate was truly amazing and I hope to make it back to the area to try more stuff off the menu.

The service was also excellent, the man who I assume is the owner was delightful and obviously very passionate about the restaurant and the experience that guests have while eating there. He made solid recommendations, checked in frequently and had short but fun genuinely interesting conversations with us both times we ate there. While the quality of the food is all the reason you need to come here, this place is the full package and there is honestly not a single thing I would change about it.

My family and I find that this is our favorite Indian restaurant in the Madison area. The service is spectacular and the wait staff is a lot of fun to interact with. They're not above conversing and giving a little crap.

Some favorites: the butter chicken, the chicken tikka masala, the Wisconsin Cheese Naan, the Strawberry Lassi, the Samosas; all are fantastic and really enjoyable. I've been working my way up on spice there and currently at a level two and it's beginning to give me a little bit of kick. This place is legit and deserves your business.

We made a reservation for eight and glad we did. They had a table for 8 all set and ready for us! Food and service was great. We did a pot luck of 7 dishes and shared. Plenty of food with some leftovers to take home. Our favorite dishes were the Butter Chicken, Lamb Madras, Chicken Masala, Aloo Gobhi, Tandoori Shrimp, and Lamb Biryani. The Tandoori Mixed Grill was good but not our favorite. It was a large portion size and the tandoori chicken and fish were the best items on it. Pro tip: save 10% if you pay in cash. Preface: This Middleton gem of a restaurant holds many prestigous restaurant accolades, and rightfully so as the food and ambiance takes hold of you immediately in this establishment. Get ready to be immersed into Indian culture when you visit this restaurant.

Food: I had the Lamb Madras and Garlic Naan Bread. How do I say this? It's mouthwatering, wholesome food. I don't know if I will find anything else that compares. There's not much more to say than that.

Service: All of the staff are extremely friendly and take pride in their food and culture. I have much respect for this establishment.

Atmosphere: The smell of Indian spices is the first thing that takes hold of you. You will immediately salivate when you smell the scent of curry spices from the kitchen. Pristine and immersive.

Overall: I will be back to try more of the menu. It's really that good.
