Was so looking forward to treating myself....have been searching for a ceasor salad in LaX...very disappointed, roman was chopped to big , mostly bottoms.
..don't know what that dressing was not, ceasor. The shrimp was done perfectly though. The crab and artichoke dip I saw had so many good reviews, I didn't think much of it, it had no flavor...the top was over done like leather with parsley in crusted in it, that was over powering. The service was strange no warmth or friendliness. Just a bad experience at the end of a busy work day. The garlic toast was good the other bread was very generic.

Cody provided great service. He knew when to come check on us and served food and drink in a reasonable time.
The prime rib was tender and juicy including the pellicle and was seasoned just right so we could enjoy the steak with or without au jus or horse radish.
Making reservations on line was easy, thank you.
The Maple/brown sugar and blackberry old fashioned was a great way to end a great meal.
Atmosphere is perfect for a dinner club: quiet, prime rib, old fashioned, good craft beer. The only thing missing was the ice cubes in the urinal.

My wife and I decided to celebrate our anniversary at Digger’s Sting and we were not disappointed.
Our server was very friendly and seemed genuinely concerned that we have an enjoyable experience.
My Manhattan was excellent as was my wife’s wine selection as recommended by our server.
The food was expertly plated and prepared.
Filet mignon, shrimp and cod entrees we enjoy were wonderful. We will definitely visit again.

Best steak in town , atmosphere is lounge 50s style sat at the bar we didn't make reservations, but I recommend you do. My only disappointment was the bartender didn't know how to make a traditional old fashioned,so couldn't get one . But when in Wisconsin maybe you should order it Wisconsin way , with brandy and soda. Theme, food ,and drinks 👍🏻👍🏻

Offering a classic supper club feel, Diggers Sting is a great place to stop in for a fantastic meal. The cocktail and wine menu is diverse without being complicated. The crab and artichoke dip and the shrimp cocktail apps are terrific! We enjoyed tenderloin tips, filet, shrimp, and prime rib with our group. All food was prepared perfectly, and the service was impeccable! We finished the meal with a grasshopper that was tasty and certainly enough for 3!

We stopped in on a Saturday night with no reservations. Busy as they were we were offered a seat at the bar which was fine with us. The bartender/waitress was prompt and courteous. My wife ordered the pineapple chicken with a baked potato. The chicken was moist and tender. She enjoyed it very much. I ordered the 10oz prime rib (medium rare) with garlic mashed potatoes. The rib roast was done to perfection and seasoned just right. The garlic mashed potatoes were also very good. We will happily return to Diggers Sting but we'll make reservations next time!

We stopped at Digger’s based on a recommendation from our Air BNB host on the way from Indiana to South Dakota and absolutely loved it! They had excellent service and fantastic food. The prime rib was especially tasty, and we also really enjoyed the cheese curds and snow crab and artichoke dip. The Cajun shrimp were also tasty, and so was their soup. If I lived closer, I would frequent this spot. For what we got, the menu was reasonably priced. Our service was also great, especially considering how full the restaurant was. Don’t be deceived by the older exterior and missing lights on the sign - the inside of this restaurant is very charming and the food is wonderful.

Always a treat when you can dine here. Had a delicious dinner with my father this evening and there wasn't 1 bad thing I could say.
Started off with a nice glass of Spotted Cow then ordered myself the Baby Back Ribs Appetizer for myself and the jalapeno cheese curds for the pops. For our main courses I had the filet mignon with salmon and mashed potatoes + cup of clam chowder on the side. Pops had the Top Sirloin & Bleu Cheese House Salad, which is big enough to feed 3 and is absolutely declicious, definitely will be back soon. - All for under $100

I had dinner at Digger’s Sting with my three aunts while visiting La Crosse for work. This was my first time here, and I was impressed from the start. The atmosphere has a historic charm, with a beautiful bar and well-set tables.
Service was great—our server was down-to-earth, shared the specials, and made us feel well taken care of. We all ended up ordering the specials, and the food didn’t disappoint. The salmon, topped with garlic dill, was packed with flavor—maybe a bit strong for some, but I enjoyed it.
Overall, a great experience! I’ll definitely be bringing my wife next time we’re in town. Highly recommend checking this place out!

First time at Digger’s Sting and La Crosse! Both impressed us! This meal was excellent and just a great old steakhouse atmosphere! We had filets, prime rib and ribeye, all were excellent and cooked exactly the way we ordered. Cocktails and wine (Malbec) was very good.Vegetables were cooked very well, salads were very good and that garlic butter toast… wow! I thought for the amount of food we got the price was very good! We had a grasshopper frozen drink for dessert and it was a great way to end! Not a traditional grasshopper, more of a scooped grasshopper ice cream but it worked! Hope to be back again!

The steaks were all done to our liking (medium to medium rare) but was the toughest prime rib that any of us have ever had. The service was almost nonexistent and we waited almost hour and a half for our food. We don’t mind paying for good steaks but these were far from good steaks. Will not go back again.

This is a popular choice in the La Crosse area. We decided last minute to go here for dinner so we had not made a reservation. We were offered a spot at the bar to have drinks and eat dinner. I'm a long time diggers customer and so much has changed recently. The drinks taste watered down, the food is bland, and they're super stingy with garlic toast they're famous for. They no longer seem to have fish specials, and the salmon on their regular menu is far inferior to Buzzards. What happened to the food quality and taste? When did diggers start serving uninspired, tasteless supper club crap?

So, I was one those Oktoberfest drunks that walk in off the street and ask for a table for one. Promptly seated at the bar. I've been here several times in the past...Dale from Dale's Esprit recommended it. (I know that's not the name of his shop but I like that name. He could probably still call it that since Esprit no longer exists). Anyway, the bartender was moving between serving, and making drinks, including ridiculously labor intensive Brandy Old Fashion's. I had deep fried scallops, prime rib, Italian wedding soup, garlic bread and a couple beers, all for $45. I love this place and their undying commitment to serving Oktoberfest drunks

We went to dinner for my birthday. Full disclosure, we both forgot to make a reservation. So we showed up to see if there were any openings. We snagged a reservation for later in the evening and then walked around and visited local establishments in the meantime. Once we got back, we were seated and then greeted by our server. We ordered drinks and started with the Snow Crab and Artichoke Dip for an appetizer. For the record, it was unbelievably delicious. We then both ordered a steak with a seafood addition. The scallops and Cajun shrimp were both fantastic. The steaks were both perfectly cooked and amazing cuts. We ended with the ever famous grasshopper. But since we were full, we split it. I would 100% come back and try more of the menu. The atmosphere is the true supper club vibe.

Make the reservation and get to this place!! Not posting pics, b/c others have posted the same thing- sirloin, prime rib, shrimp, cod, smashed potatoes, mushrooms, and that garlic bread - omg!! The salad pre meal was one of the best salads I've had in a very long time, no cheap iceberg in this one! Add a glass of red vino or one if their specialities, and you have the best meal we've had in a long time (even though we 'rolled' out of there! ) the atmosphere, the sounds and laughter of good drink and food hitting the soul around us, made this for a wonderful memorable experience! A place to return to next time we are in the area. ❤️

I've been dining here routinely for decades. I have never had a bad meal here or was disappointed with the service. The outside is unimposing, but once you step inside, you feel like you are stepping back in time, revealing a 1960s ambiance. I love the throwback atmosphere, dim lights, eclectic decor, and, of course, the great food. Diggers is a hidden gem of a restaurant that you could quickly drive by if unaware of Digger's location.
I'm a creature of habit, and I get the same thing every time I eat here, and I never leave disappointed. My wife, however, has tried most of the entrees at Diggers and has had the same experience as me; never disappointed. We love Digger's drink selection and continue to indulge in their pre-meal garlic bread. Their prime rib, filet minion, and scallops are among the best in the area, according to my wife. One of my favorite parts of dining here is that the waiters and waitresses seldom change, and we have come to know them on a first-name basis. Our waiters and waitresses are always attentive and prompt. I will continue to recommend this place.

I go here once a year for a large prime rib. The atmosphere is romantic and relaxing, service is always perfect. The food is always perfect. It's expensive but we'll worth it. Paid $55 for a 20oz prime rib. Worth the cost.
Update. Went again last Night. Bought a 26 prime rib, $42 for 14 oz then bought an extra 8 oz for $2.50 an ounce. Well that's what I thought. I said to the waiter that it's $2.50 and ounce and he said yes. Bill came and the steak cost me $102. He said it was $5 an ounce not $2.50. He even acknowledged the $2.50. Then I also had 5.55 ounces of straight unedible fat. Pretty disappointed. Steak was perfect otherwise.

We love this place. I’m not usually a big steak eater, but their ribeye is spot-on. The scallops, shrimp, and seafood specials are always excellent. Garlic bread and mashed potatoes are crave-able. Stiff drinks, and always worth trying to save room for tiramisu. Look forward to trying the ribs soon. I’m always surprised that we only end up spending maybe $20 more for the two of us than we would at some mediocre chain. Make a reservation :)

I visited with colleagues for a business dinner. We were seated promptly, and the server was quick to take drink orders, share the evening's specials, and answer our menu questions. She was attentive throughout our visit.
The food was good, but not to the degree that I expected; colleagues had told me it would be excellent. I also found the seating to be uncomfortable; the chairs are old and, while they have arms, I found myself trying to lean one way or the other to find a comfortable position. I'm not a big person, so it wasn't a matter of not fitting in the chair; perhaps our table wasn't big enough for more than two people, so I didn't feel comfortable extending my legs.

The service was absolutely phenomenal. Our server was very attentive, kind, and professional
The atmosphere was great!
The drinks are made by a very generous bartender! We thoroughly enjoyed our drinks.
The food was slightly bland.
And for the price point, you expect a bit more flavor.
The quality of food seemed very good. Cooked well and like the chef was knowledgeable. But it lacked in flavor.
The ribs were covered in far too much bbq sauce for my liking. I do suppose that is personal preference. But I felt I had more sauce than meat. Making it hard to enjoy the meat.
The prime rib was cooked to my doneness preference. But again, it was a very little flavor. I'm not even sure it was seasoned with basic salt and pepper.
My husband does prefer a more charred/grilled meat taste. And he stated it seemed his rib eye was cooked on a flat top. Having no charred flavoring. And again, little to no flavor to the meat in general.
All in all, we enjoyed our experience. But are torn on weather we would make it a point to visit again.

Diggers was GREAT. We’ve been to a lot of supper clubs and everything from the outside of the building, atmosphere inside, drinks, food and service was on point.
Megan was our waitress and was fabulous! She knew the menu well, was funny and was professional but also knew when to crack a joke. 5 stars to her alone.
The garlic bread is a reason to come back by itself. Steaks, fish, scallops were all cooked to perfection. Clam chowder was great. Brandy old fashions were strong.
The only thing really missing was a relish tray. We had plenty of food with our meals and sides but I always love trying super club relishes trays to see what they serve.
Kudos to this place. They do it all well. We will return if in the area again.

While I am easily pleased, I am rarely deeply impressed. Diggers never fails to impress! Their Prime Rib is superb!

I tried dinner here with some friends one evening. The atmosphere is pleasant enough with good wait staff. The drinks were probably the highlight of dinner. The food tastes fake. The off menu wild rice side was pretty much mush which they offer to top with cheese. My dining companions were equally disappointed. Unfortunately, most of the food went uneaten.

With the outside appearance of a steakhouse, I'd say Diggers Sting qualifies as a full on Supper Club. The decades old downtown neon signage let us know we were entering a fine dining establishment with a touch of nostalgia.
Once inside, we were taken in by the interior, complete with crushed red velvet wallpaper and framed pictures of the movie stars from yesteryear (Humphrey Bogart, Marilyn Monroe and behind the front bar Redford and Newman straight out of the now classic movie, The Sting). As with most Wisconsin Supper Clubs, the evening's specials were chalked up on display right near the hostess station.
Being Christmas weekend, our late reservation only allowed us the high table for two next to the bar. Great table and we'd probably request it again as it gave easy access to our server and a great look across the whole restaurant. With just a ton going on around us, our date night settled in to feel like we were the only two in the room.
Maddie, our waitress, was casual yet super-efficient. She had a way of letting us enjoy the experience of Diggers, yet was always there at times when we might need anything. Knowledgeable about all in regards to the menu and the history of Diggers, we'd highly recommend Maddie and will probably request her on our next visit.
From the salad to the dinner, the food was top-notch and we just loved the opportunity to add a lobster tail, shrimp or cod to our main course (not that it was needed as doggy bags are sure to be in order for this gem of a dining experience right in the heart of downtown La Crosse).

Extremely nice place to ho for an anniversary dinner. Quite, and great atmosphere. A bit old school 70's vibe, which we really enjoy. The food is ALWAYS amazing, and for a starter, we highly recommend the crab and artichoke dip plate.

Good news, the baby red smashed potatoes. The bad news, everything else. I was a bit embarrassed by their clam chowder, it ate like potato gravy. And the garlic bread..my son and I looked at each other and we both tossed the slices we bit from back into the basket. It was just, ew, like it had been in the bottom of a warming pan for an hour. And is that butter u use on it or some pourable substitute? Prime rib looked fine but was just not particularly flavorful. And I can't tell you how much I hate when a bartender drafts a beer to the rim with no head and inevitably I end up with beer fingers just getting it to my mouth. It's a poor presentation and lacks attention to detail.
