Had prime rib. Asked for medium. Got barely medium rare. No baked potatoes only fries. Meat was stringy and tough without a lot of flavor. Staff were professional but not very warm. Salad bar was potato salad, baked beans and Cole slaw. Beans should have been served in a bowl they were so runny. Not an impressive meal.

I am so glad this place is open and that the old owners have taken it over as it’s just fabulous! I’ve dined here several times, and have loved all of my meals, the soup and salad that comes with the entrées and my last visit they had the salad bar back open! They make excellent old-fashioned, their staff and owners are amazing and it’s so great to see Donny’s thriving :)

I'd try them again, just wouldn't order the prime rib as it was on the tough side, difficult to cut, and did not have much flavor. The Irish potatoes were very good, as well as the bread and the little relish plate. My party ordered the schaum torte, which should be noted it was as described in the menu and not traditional like your mom or grandma made it. Drinks/cocktails were also enjoyable.

As someone with 10 years of food service experience it hurts me to have to be this critical but this experience was absolutely unacceptable. This was my first time back in 2 years and the first time under the new ownership. It was myself and my mother and we got seated right at opening. With few other tables in the restaurant it took well over 10 minutes just to get one basic mixed drink and a soda. The main attraction for us here was the haystack onion rings. They came out overcooked and flavorless. When we told our server of our dissatisfaction with them she laughed and asked if we were joking. Following the onion rings we waited for more than 45 minutes and multiple other tables sat after we were getting their food before finally getting our meals. My mother asked for an additional ramekin of tarter sauce and was told it would be an additional 50 cents per cup. The dinner was also served with potato salad and beans. The beans came in a normal sized bowl to share however the potato salad was something you couldnt even call a portion. It was 2 pieces of potato in a small ramekin. Needless to say this was beyond disappointing. I dont think we'll be back.

Service was average, I went in with my family ordered our dinner, and sodas for all of us, and never was told that they charge $2.00 for each refill. Not happy! For an additional $3.95 if ordered with a meal they tell you only ONE trip to the salad bar, and the plate they give you to use is small. They charge you a convenience charge of 4% for any credit card use, and never told us.There was no sign where you said it was. Nice try turning the tables on your customer stating I am a liar. The only businesses that charge this are the ones struggling with this ridiculous surge charge. Hmm... If you want people to return, maybe be a cash only. Must be a sign behind the bar, and the host station that we charge $2.00 for each refill for soda as well hey? Wrong no sign. If you want to pay more for less then this is your place.

We are avid “Supper Club” diners. We looked through our supper club book for some place new…. WOW our choice of Donny’s Girl II Supper Club was a FANTASTIC choice!
We arrived early Sunday to have a drink in the bar - we were greeted like family when we walked in (little did we know it was Fred, The Chef and Jen The Manager/Bartender!!

We had great conversation with Jen at the bar regarding the restaurant and its history along with travel and the area. She thoughtfully brought us to our table for dinner and introduced us to our server, Kim.

Again, had wonderful service and conversation with Kim. She was attentive, friendly and just all around a great server. After we raved about the fresh and wonderful salad bar, the amazing meal (I had the 16oz Prime Rib special and my husband had the Duck)

The food was so flavorful, hot and there was A LOT of it. Your dinner includes soup, salad bar, bread and your meal with veggie and a potato choice! It was more food than we could eat but happily brought home leftovers! My husband loved the pea soup so much he brought more home!

Kim let Chef Fred know how much we were enjoying our meal that he came out to say hello and we were able to tell him personally how much we enjoyed the food and service.

The ambiance is quaint and an “old school” Wisconsin bar/Supper Club - just how we like it!

We can will be back to enjoy another meal soon. We are thankful for the hard work, dedication and friendliness of this great establishment!

OMG WOW- never again! We ordered 3 fish fry's. One of our first comments after tasting the Cole slaw was " I hope the fish is better". One got Fry's, 1 potato pancakes and 1 double baked potato. We were NEVER informed of an up charge if you got any thing more than Fry's and our bill reflected a extra charge for the cakes and what they called a twice baked potato. The twice baked potato was such a horrible joke it is hard to describe! It literally had a folded slice of American cheese on top of a cold baked potato that was not even melted. The potato pancakes were way UNDERCOOKED and 1 was burnt, really bad. We showed the waitress and she literally shrugged her shoulders and walked away!! I surely hate to tell you about the back of the barstool that was so wobbly that I dear not lean back or I would of been on the floor! We have not been here for several years and we'll that is going to be the way it stays!!

I was unaware of the new ownership but made sreservations for 4 on Friday night. Arrived to find that the place was only half full. Ordered drinks at the bar but the selection is thin. Bloody mary was tomato juice and vodka (this place doesnt have a single bottle of Worcestershire). No Bitters for the Old Fashioned. We were seated at our reservation time. The waitress was very friendly and polite. We ordered steak and fish meals. NONE of the food had any flavor. I'm not sure this place has a single spice in the entire building! The food came out an hour later and was cold and tasetless. This place wont be open much longer if they dont get their stuff together!

Unfortunately they had no atmosphere, it felt very run down. This used to be a hot spot for fish fry, however there was an abundance of seating available yet still took close to 40mins to be seated. We thought maybe they are under staffed? Once we ordered our food and headed to the salad bar we laughed as it was completely in the dark. We joked that it was a mystery salad cause we couldn’t see anything! It then took more than an hour for our food to come out…. There were 4 tables us included. There was never an explanation given… rare steak was cooked well done, the chicken cordon blue was smothered in an over powering garlic sauce. Luckily my fish didn’t come out dry as I feared it had been under a heat lamp for half an hour. We did notice half the staff was seated at the bar as well. So totally unsure why there was such an insane wait but we know now why there wasn’t anyone there. Ok where do I begin. The wait time between getting salad bar and being served our entre was crazy long. Chicken cordon bleu was drenched in a garlic sauce..was disgusting. You could not tell what you were picking from the salad bar because the plexi glass was so scratched/dirty. And the pickings was slim. No one at the table was impressed with their dinner. We went out to the original Donny’s Girl a few yrs ago and we had a wonderful dinner and experience. We were kind of expecting the same at Donny’s Girl ll when we visited mid November 2023. Donny's Girl II is a great little supper club in the Watertown area. The staff was more than welcoming as we entered to enjoy cocktails. The Old Fashioneds are muddled and quite generous. We enjoyed conversation at the bar until the rest of our party arrived. The food was very good! We enjoyed the stuffed salmon, breaded walleye, duck with cherry sauce, and prime rib. All the entrees were excellent! The salad bar was also a nice treat with delicious options. Service was attentive, and it was a great evening visiting and enjoying a great experience at Donny's Girl II!

Went for fish fry tonight because they were voted number 1 and I left scratching my head.
I was disappointed with all the water stains on the ceiling. I would have assumed the new owners would have worked on the atmosphere and would have addressed the leak stains.
The fish (cod) was terrible. It was so dry and flavorless. The potato salad was very salty and the potato pancakes were over seasoned and over fried. My daughter’s kids burger was falling apart. My wife had catfish and that was decent and my son’s burger was good. I will say clam chowder and chicken was fantastic!!!
There were 4 other tables when were sat and it took close to 40 minute to get our food for a 4 top.
Our server was nice but she could not make up for the food quality and atmosphere.

2023- Tonight was our first visit since the new ownership, and it was absolutely fantastic. everything tasted amazing and fresh. We both had the cod fish dinner. I ordered the french onion soup, and he had the clam chowder. Both were very good. The fixings that they brought out before dinner (potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans, and bread) were also fresh and tasty. Our waitress, Maddy, was the best and gave very good service. In our venture to try new supper clubs, we took a short drive out to Donny's Girl in Watertown. We enjoyed drinks at the bar prior to eating, the brandy old fashioned, was good. Our table was ready pretty quick, so we left the bar to start dinner. My wife had the walleye almondine, and I ordered the ribeye. Must have been an off night for them tonight. We were there at 4:30 pm with reservations for 5:00 pm. After sitting at the bar we watched many others being seated before us. Checked and found out they lost our reservations. While waiting in the bar area saw a man use his finger to wipe the cheese off the knife back into the cheese spread container. We attempted to eat here this evening. We were a party of 4 that included a 10 year old. We were told they had to clear a table and would be seated. We were given a pager but told it would just be a couple of minutes. After 30 minutes we asked the hostess the status. She rudely told me she would have to check. After 20 minutes we asked the older bartender to check the status. He came back and told us that a table was being cleared for us...20 minutes later the hostess told us again rudely that she didn't know how long it would be.

The staff was extremely rude and I've never been to a restaurant that after an hour of being lied to ..still couldn't tell us how long it would be. We will not return and will never recommend this establishment again

Everything changed. The bartenders took a very long time to serve us. They were avoiding eye contact and clearly not engaged with their service. Old-fashioned garnishes (olives/mushrooms) were weird (hard/spicy instead of pickled) and not good. The old-fashioneds were good. Most of the recipes we loved at Donny's were changed. Clam chowder had a large amount of rosemary and was not edible. Coleslaw was heavily peppered. The beans were changed and some were hard. Potato pancakes were made with cinnamon. The fish was good. Their cook is very unprofessional. I ordered a shrimp cocktail and didn’t finish it. The waiter asked how it was and I said not so great given that it made me sick note I am not allergic to shrimp and this was the first time. I wasn’t mad at all things happen. The waiter was very kind and said it looked a little weird and took it back. The cook apparently ate the shrimp off my plate and said “this tastes fine to me maybe a little under cooked.” I shouldn’t hear that from the dining room. Then a couple of minutes later he said “I hope she doesn’t want any chicken or shrimp on her Alfredo and is going to take two and a half hours.” and they weren’t busy. That’s when I got up and left. I told the bartender what just happened and she didn’t even look surprised and went back to the kitchen. When the cook talks down about a guest who isn’t mad and has no intention of cooking a simple meal correctly that doesn’t make me want to stay and taste the food they prepared.

2 stars solely because of a really nice waitress. Not sure what happened, but did not have a good experience. First visited Donnys Girl on a Friday in April and had a wonderful experience with the food and service. Returned at least 5 times in May and June, driving from Sun Prairie and Stoughton. Took my family and friend this past Friday after being out of the state for a month or two and did not enjoy it at all. We had a party of 5 including two kids and tables seated well after us with larger parties received main courses ahead of us. We had ordered simple Friday staples, nothing out of the ordinary. Two of the entrees were incorrect on delivery. While the waitress was attentive and apologetic for the long wait, she did not refill empty waters or offer a pitcher, but was great either way. Also, to the waitresses credit again, she discounted what she could on the bill. Something significant changed at this restaurant over the summer. Different menu items, lower quality. Big bummer because we had really enjoyed our long Friday night trips over to Donnys Girl.

My wife and I ate here about three years ago and found the food to be less than desirable… see original review below. Anyhow, a few weeks ago we decided to try them out again. We spent almost an hour at the bar waiting for a table and I was getting a really good feeling that this visit was going to be better than the previous visit 3 years ago. The bartender was amazing, friendly and made some awesome drinks! The blue cheese olives are to die for! I bought a jar to take home and I really need to go back again to buy more olives! And if I wasn’t already happily married, I would’ve ask the bartender to be my wife… LOL. However, I think I will just sit at the bar and have a couple drinks next time (with my wife of course… I don’t want to get into trouble…LOL). But I will go eat somewhere else. Again… the food was just not that good. My wife had a rib eye steak and she said it just didn’t taste right, and I completely understand considering I ordered the prime rib and it was just awful! Somebody really got carried away with the thyme… and yes, I did ask for rare, but the prime rib came out almost raw! Seriously, I have never complained about beef being “undercooked” … LOL. And both my wife and I were sick with diarrhea about half way through the night after eating here… I’m going to make an assumption here and call it a sanitary issue??? But anyway… the bartender (my future wife should the love of my life ever leave me… LOL), I can’t remember her name, she was an amazing bartender and those hand stuffed blue cheese olives they make are also amazing! I’ll leave the review as 2 stars just because of the bartender and the olives… both were amazing. However, I’m just not going to eat their again.

Went for fish/chicken Friday evening. Chicken and fries were super greasy, fish was ok. The potato salad, cole slaw had zero flavor and the baked beans were spicy which saved them. Not satisfied.

Got seated half hour after our scheduled time and they seated another couple first that arrived after us for the same time .. french onion soup was ok wife's soup was blah prime rib didn't look or taste fresh wife's meal was missing ingredients that were stated on the menu.. price was ok but not worth it .. I've been here since I was a kid and it's just went down hill in the last 10 years. I'll stick with my little home town bar for prime rib ...

Service was very good. That’s where the good ended. We used to frequent Donnys girl often under previous owners and it was always fantastic. We decided to try it tonight for the first time under the new owners. I ordered prime rib that was inedible. And I am not picky about food at all. I sent it back once because it was purple and bloody and so tough I couldn’t even cut it. Came back with outside more done but inside still so bloody. And I like rare prime rib. I should’ve said more but didn’t want to make a scene. Our waitress was very kind so we paid and left. Also the seasoning on everything was so overpowering. Not sure if it was thyme or rosemary. It was on everything. My husbands fish was not great either. Salad bar was good. Very disappointed tonight

Wanted some Prime Rib and heard it was good. Made reservations for 2 at 6:30. Didn’t get in until 7:15 as we were going to leave. Ordered the Prime Rib (medium and medium well) came to us rare and raw. Had to send it back 3 times. Not asking for much but didn’t even get a free dessert. A very bad night for us

Have not been there since the new ownership took over earlier this year. Stopped by to get 2 fish dinners to go and an appetizer which was cheese curds. ordered the fish dinners with soup. When I got home and inspected the food, I noticed the soup was not there. We were supposed to get five pieces of fish each, one dinner only had four. The fish pieces were small and somewhat overcooked. The French fries were undercooked and soggy. The sides that came with the dinner were a joke, you got coleslaw and potato salad. They only gave literally 1 tablespoon of each, we measured it. The cheese curds you only received about 9 and they were very greasy, not worth what I paid for them. I will say the staff was friendly. We have been going to this place for a long time and the food was always good. Definitely a drastic decline in food quality, not what I expected from this place I thought so highly of. I have never left a review before, but I felt I had to this time. It's not to try and hurt the business but to help it. I hope management takes this constructive criticism to improve the quality of the food to the standards that Donny's Girl has been known for and what I have been enjoying since I moved to Watertown in 2005.

Went for mothers day brunch. Had great food with many options and good service. Only thing I would suggest is that they make more to have on backup because it went really fast. However I am sure they were probably understaffed like most places are right now, so it’s understandable.

My wife and I were very disappointed this past Friday (4/29/22) with our meals and receipting at Donny's Girl. We arrived about 4:45p and were seated immediately.
Our server was Rikki and we were pleased with her assistant.
My prime was excellent however my baked potato was over baked (almost blackened skin) under the foil. This is not industry standard for baked potatoes by any means. However, I like my potato this way and enjoyed it.
My wife's ordered the fish/chicken with potato pancake. The pancake could not be cut with a fork. The replacement pancake was the same and it was difficult to even cut with fork and knife. The chicken was over cooked and dry. The replacement was the same. We chose to finished our wine, pack up to go boxes pay the bill and head home. To go box food items went into the garbage disposal.
Our printed receipt showed a grand total amount of 47.82 and the printed payment amount showed 49.49. Explain that? With tip I payed 59.49 with my card.
My cleared bank statement shows I was debited 61.57. I don't care for Donny's Girls accounting practices.
We have been going to this restrauant for years.
We will not return again or take guests there.

Stopped after being in Watertown all day. We did not have reservations but they had room for us. Not only were the steak and salmon main dishes great, the choice of potatoes and soup and a great salad bar really topped off the Supper Club experience. Worth the beautiful country drive to enjoy a quality Wisconsin Supper Club.

Disappointing night. We came here a few years ago and loved it. The food was amazing, never any problems. While the staff are hard working the food quality is subpar. Recipies are different. The all you can eat fish fry is gone and the 5 piece meals are more expensive. You have to pay for refills on sodas. Our night was 3 hours there and 2 hours of that was waiting for seating and food and then our card to finally process. Overall disappointing night.

Make sure you're hungry when you go. Dinners come with salad bar, soup, and bread. We had the stuffed salmon(delicious) and fried scallops. Would recommend the getting the scallops broiled instead of deep fried as the coating was quite thick, and a little over cooked, which took away from the flavor. The bar tender was friendly and willing to talk. Be patient if ordering an ice cream drink....they store the ice cream back in the kitchen and the bar tender has to wait for an already busy waitress to go get it. I would also highly recommend reservations. We got there at 6:30pm on a Saturday and didn't eat until almost 8:30pm. Great little supper club!

Disappointed. French onion soup $3 up charge, which I would understand had it been good- but it had no flavor. Prime rib also had no flavor and was served barely warm. Horse radish sauce was TERRIBLE. Soybean and high fructose corn syrup. I had terrible stomach pain and my dinner and it all came out about 1 hour after eating. Severs seemed friendly. Would not recommend, will not return.

Old fashioned WI supper club does not disappoint. Stiff cocktails, prime rib done right, great BBQ ribs, tasty onion soup and nice salad bar. Service was efficient without being intrusive. Have enjoyed some of their specials in the past, but usually stick with the prime rib.
