First time here at the sandbox. The food was amazing, we had cheese curds and the sandbox burger. Was really, really, really good. Our server Erin was really sweet and accommodating. Had very good conversation. Would highly recommend!

Overall, DC Sandbox has been an excellent addition to Sturgeon Bay! I've never experienced an issue with the food quality, or mistakes being made. It's also nice to have something to do in town (ax throwing) - especially for us locals during the winter!

However, I do think improvements could be made to staffing and customer service. While I don't find that the servers or bartenders are ever rude in any way, they can certainly be inattentive. I've gone in to pick up a take-out order and not been offered a drink (an easy upsell,) I've waited 10 minutes for a drink before, waited a long time for a sauce cup, etc. I don't mind waiting, ESPECIALLY if it is busy, but at DC Sandbox, it becomes excessive. That said... the apparent inattentiveness MIGHT stem from a lack of staff or poor scheduling decisions. On Labor Day, there was ONE server/bartender working during dinner! ONE person to take all of the orders in a FULL dining room AND make the drinks. This is not feasible even for the most skilled and experienced employees.

Understanding that the workforce is difficult to navigate these days - improvements to customer service overall and perhaps stronger scheduling to avoid delays would easily bump this up to a 5-star in my book!

We were one of 3 tables there, so they weren't busy, but our server/bartender was not attentive at all. The water tasted so gross, none of us drank it. The food was average, but my friend didn't eat his because he said it was that bad. Our server did not tell us ahead of time, or even ask, that if we wanted separate checks, we were supposed to tell her before she took our order. So, she refused to split the bill at the end and gave herself an automatic 20% tip before dropping the bill off. No wonder why she didn't check on us, she already got her tip out of us. 🙄🙄
Overall, it was disappointing and probably won't be back.

This is a wonderful place to eat. We were in Door County for a few days and stopped for a a sandwich. Erin took our order and served our cocktails. Great service and she has a terrific personality. I ordered the perch sandwich with homemade chips. It was the Best Perch Sandwich Ever.
I highly recommend the Door County Sand Box in Sturgeon Bay.

First time trying DC Sandbox. The food portions were impressive in size. My Dad enjoyed his double smashburger. He said it was juicy. The nachos are large. The crumble cheese over the top was odd. The axe throwing looked cool and the golf simulators looked nice. Our service was good. We will return and give it another try.

We stopped in for a craft fair they had and initially were ignored and treated rudely by the front house bartender. We were told to go to the back bar for mimosas and what a difference! We were met by a nice, funny amazing bartender who served us immediately. Because of her I’ll be back. Excited to try the food!

First off it’s a big empty room with the cheapest golf sim and cheapest axe throwing possible with some random racing sims in a back corner and some darts in another corner.

The food is basic bar food but the portions for something like a side of tatertots for a group was about 12 tatertots.

The prices for the activities are ridiculously overpriced for 145$ for an hour of axe throwing( which we stopped half way through because it was excruciatingly boring) a few drinks and some aforementioned tatertots is ludicrous.

The racing sims 10$ for 18 mins. This place is so expensive for not much.

If the music they played was a bit better it might be something more to enjoyed but it was like 70s soft rock the entire time.

I recently checked this place out. Despite knowing about it for the past year, I realized I had a misconception.

I thought it was a 'special occasion' kind of place. You know. Get a group together to play indoor golf, throw axes, etc.

It's not. I mean, sure. It is. But it's also a great local bar. You don't need an occasion or a group. All you need is the desire to go to a bar, have a drink and a little bar food, and enjoy yourself.

The space is great. Clean. Plenty of character. Lots of room at the bar and ample tables. The TVs are huge and the sound is beautiful. If you want to listen to the big game as well as watch, it's the best place in Door to do so. Plus there is a pool table, dart boards, gaming machines, a juke box.

It's a full bar with a good tap list and cocktail menu. They have HH specials, too.

The menu is solid with all your bar food favorites - appetizers, burgers and handhelds, pizzas, salads. I've had the personal pizza and the boneless wings, and both were plenty tasty.

And the staff is great.

So sure. Bring a group of friends for a special outing to play golf, throw axes, ride the race car simulators.

But don't let that stop you from visiting before then. It's a fun bar. The perfect place to grab a drink and a bite and unwind after a long day, or to watch some sports with a few friends. If your team wins, you can celebrate with another round. If your team gets beat and you need to vent some frustration, you can throw axes. That's a win either way!

Amazing new hidden gem!! Perfect for a rainy day and so family friendly. Complementary virtual golf stalls, that also work as skeeball, tball, mini golf, football, dodgeball and more (3 hours in we hadnt seen it all! We came at 10:30am on a rainy day with a 2 and 6 year old (and grandparents), for some virtual golf. I wasn’t sure what to expect but was blown away with how awesome this place is! Amazing service, good food, clean and spacious, very family friendly (also def good for teens and adults- there was Ax throwing separately that wasn’t near the little kids, and some nice older couples at bar, plus lots of tables for food).
This will be our fixture for many years to come and I’ve told about 20 others on our beach about it today with awe of this gem!

I’m almost reluctant to share experience because I want to keep it low key, but also want to make sure they get much deserved attention to stick around for our many future visits.

I would like to say first that our young server was excellent and really wanted the place to make it. The food was not so good. I am a very lite eater and left hungry my chicken strips were tiny any over cooked. My husband had the perch and left hungry also. For the price ($15 and $22), the quality and lack of food was unimpressive. I just wat to say if your going to make it in Door County you have to up your game!!

We went here with some friends to give it a go. I have been wanting to try this place out for awhile to go axe-throwing! The place was very large, and the staff were friendly enough and helpful. We didn't order any food as we had come from dinner at home but we did grab a few drinks. The place is pretty huge and the menu looks good enough. There were a lot of people hanging out at the expansive bar they have but nobody being too rowdy. They had golf, axe-throwing, dart-throwing, and other games in the building for those who wanted to play. We all went for some axe-throwing and had a blast. The axe-throwing games were fun to pick from but it did appear the sensors of the projectors against the wood were a little sensitive and required manually changing the score after each throw that landed to reflect accuracy. Not a huge deal but something that might need to be re-callibrated. The only other remark I would make would be to offer a larger variety of axes. They had a single hatchet for everyone to share and rotate through and some ninja stars. I would love to see a few other options for axes as well; big, small, and even a 2-hander would be great. Overall, we will definitely be back, and we will grab food next time with it!

43 dollars for 3 shots of patron so $14 a shot. That is the most I've ever paid for that. I've managed 3 bars in my life 750ml bottle equals 16 shots a bottle so simple math 16x14=224 each bottle. That was probably 55 or 60 from the distributor. No wonder the locals told me there prices were high but wow. I would have never price gouged my customers like that. And they need to have instructions with the games most of the time we were trying to figure out how most of them worked.

Had just as much fun as I thought i would, id only recommend a few things, sharper axes, optional smaller axes and bigger axes found at other axe throwing arenas would be cool and throwing knifes! Some of the ladies in my party had a hard time throwing normal axes and other places have hatchets for that. But they are growing and new. All and all great addition to Sturgeon Bay!

Has potential, but they weren't firing on all cylinders on the day we tried it out. Ordered drinks that were paid for and then not provided for almost an hour (ticket got lost?). Had to track down the bartender and re-order. Nobody came to offer food or drinks at our table. We were going to stay for lunch but pulled the ripcord on that idea.
