Had my in-laws in town from Dallas..who love Wis fish fries. Unfortunately we hit a bad night. The fish was warm but very hard as it appeared to be overcooked. My wife and daughter had grilled chicken breasts...which were under cooked. Instead of complaining...we decided to eat what we could....and took much of the leftovers home. Needless to say...most of it was thrown out.
The salad bar was great as was the beef vegetable soup. I noticed the the prices have really increased and a free salad bar no longer comes with a sandwich plate order. Hopefully we'll have better luck in the future...as Drugans has always had great service.

The worst food I think I've ever had. Ordered the Ribs and the sauce was basically ketchup and vinegar and they were just drowning in it. Baked potato was undercooked and cold. The only decent part was the salad bar and even that was kind of sad.

Decided to finally find a Monday night that I could try their smelt fry. There were four of us and I was the only one eating the smelt. We waited for about 20 minutes for our entrées to arrive, which is not unusual because they have a soup and a salad bar. One diner ordered the cod with a side of scallops one the size of a quarter. The other size of a dime that was an extra $10 the mashed potatoes and gravy needed to be sent back because they were cold. The smelt itself was a lot of batter and little smelled the fries are cold. I didn’t even bother with them or asking them to be sent back. The other two diners had Norwegian meatballs that look like the sauce itself was sitting on it for a while where it looked almost hardened neither of the diners finished their entrées. I was disappointed in the entire experience. The waitress only came back once or twice, and the dining room was not busy. I don’t know if they were shortstaffed or if there’s no oversight in the kitchen, but I will not be back please note that this is voice to text and I will not be correcting any misspellings because I know you’re smart enough to figure it out.

Had chicken liver dinner. It didn't have the onions and mushrooms in it as advertised and I know there was not a full order cause I usually have leftovers and I get filled up.
Called to inform and Mike Drugan said he would make it right. Wanted my address what for I dont know cause I haven't seen anything in the mail nor have I heard back from him by phone. We just started going back to Drugans because of this kind of thing in the past. Guess it's time to wash our hands of their food and spend money elsewhere. Bingo was fun. One bartender offered Miller or Busch for my mother and I’s bloody chaser, but when a friend order through the other bartender she was given the option of Mango Cart and Spotted as well for chasers. A request for water was followed by a sigh, and just did not feel welcome. The one bartender was more pleasant than the other, but just not anything special where I’ll be coming out of my way to come in unfortunately.

First, the wait was kind of long. On Friday, Jan 17th, the wait for a party of three was projected to be an hour long. It ended up being 10 or so minutes shorter, though. After that, we got started at our table, and we ordered drinks that took about 10 minutes to come out. She took our food order and the wait was about 40 minutes long, but there was a salad bar that had rice pudding and it came with our meal so we were OK. The food was really good.

I can't believe how much this place has gone downhill. And to think people pay a membership to use these services. Our reservations were for 6p on a Friday, it looked pretty busy but the waitress we had was assigned the backroom we were sitting in with maybe 8 tables. The waitress couldn't keep up with keeping us with refreshments. From the time that our orders were taken to the time food was brought out, it took over an hour. During the time we were there, we had a drink that was made incorrectly without apologies and when food was brought out, an order of hash browns was so burnt it should have never made it to the table. 2 orders of prime rib were unacceptably cold. The only thing hot was the baked potatoes and the 2 orders of fish that were ordered. We had complained to the front desk for how long it was taking to get our food and they said nothing. Our waitress had absolutely nothing to say about any of our service being bad. There were tables next to us with the same number of people that came in after we did and were served food long before we were. From the time we were asked for to-go boxes to the time we were given the bill, that was at least 20 minutes.

We went for the Thanksgiving buffet. The atmosphere is pleasant. Our server seemed unhappy and provided service but hurried and without much comment. Found the meal underwhelming. The salad bar was good. Turkey, ham, dressing, potatoes, green beans, corn, mac and cheese, corn dogs, and rolls. Hot food was barely warm. Turkey was dry, not sure how gravy was prepared but not a Turkey gravy and very thick. Pumpkin pie was near frozen with inedible crust and the smallest dollop of liquidy whipped cream on the side, served on a Styrofoam plate. Thought coffee came with the meal, so I asked for some, it was $3, so I wished I would have passed on it. I might go back again to try a regular Friday night fare here, but I'll be sure to pass on future holiday meals. I would suggest holiday meals more like 11 to 3. They had open 10 to 2, and we called a bit late (a week before) and could only get 10:30 am seating. I generally prefer a big holiday meal at lunchtime or after, so eating at 10:30 is just plain odd.

We are visiting in LaCrosse for the weekend and Friends took us here for dinner last night. What great food and an adorable quaint restaurant. It is Norwegian themed, with a huge wood carved knome in the entry and their slad bar is also a wood carved viking ship.
They have daily specials. And on Fridays they have a few to choose from. One being, chicken and/or cod, which is what I went for (mostly because I couldn't decided). You get a choice of white or dark meat chicken and battered or baked cod.
The food was excellent!! The chicken had a light crispy batter and the meat was extremely moist and tender. The cod too had a light crispy batter and the fish was tender and fresh (no fishy, old or have been sitting around flavor). The meals come with their soup and salad bar. They offered vegetable beef barley and seafood chowder soups. I had the vegetable beef barley, a hearty soup with tons of both vegetables and beef, with wonder flavor. Others that were with me had the seafood chowder and said it was so good that others went up for a second helping of soup just to try it and they too said it was amazing and glad they tried it. The salad bar has many fresh salad offerings, it includes pasta and potato salads, coleslaw, as well as some puddings and cherries.
Others in my group had chicken strips (a ton of them I might add), walleye, baked cod, baked potatoes and everyone raved about how great their meals were.
Our server was friendly, attentive and patient. We had a larger group and although we had 6pm reservations, one couple arrived about 15 after and she went with the flow and freshed drinks and asked if anyone had questions about the menu while we/she waited for everyone to arrive.
They have plenty of parking. They have outdoor seating from what I understand, however, in November in WI, no one would want to utilize that. They had plenty of gluten-free options. And some of the pasts dishes could definitely work for vegetarians if ordered without the meat option.

We LOVE Drugan's Restaurant! Great food, wonderful salad bar, friendly staff, and great atmosphere. It is the same distance (75 miles) from our home to Minneapolis/St Paul as it is to Drugan's. We always choose Drugan's. Even though the the cities offer a wide variety of places to dine, Drugan's is still the best. One of it's best features is their remarkable salad bar. Their FULL salad and soup bar (tasty seafood chowder), hearty meals (I highly suggest the walleye and appetizer of cheese curds unless you’re up for some lobster tail or Swedish meatballs-such a variety), and extremely attentive server, Deb, made our experience 5 stars. I would like to give a huge thanks to the team at Drugan's Castle Mound for helping me put together a gathering for 32 people on May 22, 2021. I was making arrangements from another state and Brook the Events Specialist made the process stress free and flawless.They set up our dinner on the enclosed patio with beautiful views of the golf course.
