The course was in beautiful shape. The elevation changes and northern pines make this course challenging but fun to play. Definitely a change of pace from my usual home courses. Great Chicago dogs at the turn also! Can’t wait to be back.

Great designed golf course to challenge the smarts to your game instead of trying to hit it over 300 yards. Challenging but in a fun way. Greens were quick and fairways were clean and maintained.

First time playing and we were beyond impressed! Our group of four ladies felt immediately welcomed—from the friendly check-in attendant and bartender to the helpful course ranger. The pace of play was smooth and well managed, yet we never felt rushed.

The course itself was in fantastic shape—lush fairways, well-maintained tees, and beautifully green greens. It struck the perfect balance between challenging and fun, making for a great day out on the course.

We loved the stylish selection in the pro shop and appreciated the cool clubhouse bar that overlooks the course, complete with great specials and relevant offerings. We’ll absolutely go out of our way to play here again—highly recommend!

I always enjoy playing golf at the Eagle River Golf course. The greens are well maintained, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, ensuring all my needs are met. They offer a nice selection of clothing and golfing extras. Tony and Matt are always ready for you to schedule an appointment to help build your golfing skills!
The practice facilities are perfect to allow golfers to warm up prior to hitting the course and the clubhouse offers a great selection of food and drinks, perfect for relaxing after a round.

By buddy Ben left a review and after seeing the owner reached out we thought it was awesome the owner reached out to his customers to clear things up. If we are in the area we will be back. Any places that’s cares about their customers deserve peoples business. Thank you.

Was accused of stealing a set of rental clubs the day we golfed; the following day they call me accusing us of stealing a left handed club from the set. None of us even golf left handed. Of course they automatically assume the 20 year olds did it without any further thought. The course was amazing otherwise, would possibly come back in the future.

Got paired up and was extremely slow then got yelled at for splitting up our pair even though nobody was behind us for two holes. Then the older course attendant came out and told us we could rain check the back nine and then changed his mind at the turn. I suggest trout or st germain course they have much better staff and less rude.

My issues aren’t with the golf course but with the owner of the bar and restaurant. The way he has handled conflicts makes me feel like he can’t run a business right. Even the way the speaks to his employees and cart girls is very unprofessional and just straight up horrible, I feel for his employees I truly do. Today I heard him tell a parent that he is a bad parent 3 times. That is not how you handle conflict. Made me not want to come back to the restaurant ever again.

We had 9 golfers, three tee times. Absolutely beautiful course with deer spotted on the front and back. Fun and challenging. Greens were very tricky. Staff were friendly and welcoming. They did warn us about pace of play at the beginning but once they saw our pace was good they eased up. Played the blues and went 1 under par in our winning 3-some. Will play again.

Played on Friday morning July 7th at 10 with two groups of 4, the rangers were complete douche bags the entire round following us and harassing us, none of us were playing slow golf and we were even playing best ball. Its insane how rude they were for a course that isn’t even crazy nice, the course was pretty and decently maintained but the rangers nearly ruined the day for us, we did nothing wrong and they just harassed us the entire time, y’all have no right to treat paying customers like that, never coming back and recommend no one else does if they don’t like being followed their entire round.

WOW course was in.perfect condition o. Our day of play. Staff was very friendly and very attentive to all of our needs. They even had a bev cart running this late in September during the week. A very nice course with tees for all abilities. We would highly recommend you try this course. For the ladies the back side bathrooms are so clean you will forget you are on a golf course!

I'm sure glad I read the reviews before making my long trip up with all my golfing buddies. So many other amazing, beautiful and well managed courses for people to golf around that area. Ive golfed hundreds of courses across Wisconsin and have never seen such horrible reviews for a course from so many people. Golf is a "gentleman's" sport, I see no reason to be so rude to people especially your customers. But of all people to chase customers away, they owner? We will wait to come see and golf it after the course is forced to be sold.

I had played here three yeas ago and it was average. I talked my group into playing here. We had the choice of a dozen courses and it was a huge mistake. The pro in the shop was one of the worst people ever. I can't believe any one in the PGA would let this guy TONY talk to any customers. The course was not in good shape. The bar was closed and no snacks or even a coke or water was available. If they did a complete over hall with staff it might get a 2 star. I will not be coming back here anytime. To many other places to play where the staff appreciates the guest.

Tony was rude. Kicked off on hole one. Drove 3 hours north to play golf. Had 6 scratch golfers playing a 3v3 scramble and it wasn’t okay. Yet they let a 5 man out in front of us 3 of 5 of them topped the ball off the tee box. Our 3v3 6 some finished in 4 hours yesterday on a different course. Will NEVER come back.

UPDATE -we drove to St Germaine/whitetail. Played as a 6 some 3v3 scramble and finished in 3 hours 58 minutes. They were very welcoming and happy to have us there.

Awesome course. Onsite restaurant, decent pro shop, and great staff. Greens in great shape and variety of layouts. Lots of challenging holes. The back 9 definitely played harder than the front 9. Only thing I wouldve asked more for was GPS in the carts....but the rain covers for the clubs was nice to use today.

Played the course with my older cousin. Shot an 89. Brand new course to me normally shoot around high 70s or low 80s. The people inside were very nice. Only thing is that I saw beverage cart ladies at the shop but none out on the course. The whole course was soft, greens rolled pretty well. Scenery was very nice. The back 9 is easier than the front. The course maintenance is “ok” the fairways aren’t the best but manageable. The overall course was very nice for a up north course.

Golfed here today with my family. Miserable, ranger constantly pushing us even though we were keeping up with the group in front of us. My children think this is how rushed golf is everywhere now. Will never come back and recommend you don’t either.

The course is always in good shape. Shorter but challenging. The back 9 is very wooded, scenic and unique. The price is fair.

My issue deals with the service and overall golf experience. My family and I love playing the back 9 and we have been able to jump over to the back in years past if we asked.

Our first time playing this week we were told we couldn’t go on the back 9 (it was too early) but they allowed another group just before us to. We were told to “call ahead next time.” Which we did. Seemed off, but we understood. Grumpy ranger followed us for a whole hole. Not saying anything and didn’t bother to give us a wave or “how are you doing?” Or “how do you like the course” etc. We weren’t slowing play down or being disruptive.

This time we called ahead and asked if we could start on the back nine. They said no. My brothers went in the clubhouse to see if we could do the back. They were met with rudeness and were told we couldn’t because they were doing “maintenance and mowing” on the back 9.

Oddly enough our last 6 holes were disrupted by mowers. Most acted like we were an inconvenience. As we left the course there were two groups finishing the back 9.

It is just frustrating by the inconsistency. Don’t tell us you can’t accommodate and it’s an impossibility when you do so for others.

Like some of the posts the Rangers are sometimes rude. Course is normally in good shape and has some great holes. Back nine gets narrow in spots and tougher to score on. Overall it is a little pricey for the course. Course gets 4 stars. Rangers 1 star. Value 3 stars.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our round at Eagle River Golf Course. We walked the back nine and found it to be very well maintained, fairways and tees in very good shape, scenery was a wonderful surprise for a public course, and of course the people in the clubhouse were very professional and helpful. We will be back for sure.

We had an outstanding day. The course was in excellent condition. The staff (pro shop, starter, rangers, bar and drink cart, and cart boys) were all very friendly, in good humor, and very helpful. As soon as we parked in the lot, a young man asked if we were riding or walking, and he immediately brought a cart to our car and loaded our clubs. And that just started the good experiences with everyone else we encountered at the course. I would recommend this course to anyone looking for a great golf experience. I will be back with all the guests who visit our cottage on Long Lake of the Three Lakes chain.

Although the course conditions were good, their raincheck policy is a ripoff. I received a raincheck after parting for 18 holes with a cart and only golfing 8. Upon returning to use the rain check for 9 holes, I had to pay an additional 22 dollars to golf with a cart. A round with a cart normally would cost $64; but my 18 holes due to a raincheck cost me $86. I promise I won't go back just because of their policy.

My husband and I treated my parents to a round of golf today. The four of us have been vacationing at a local resort this week. We were looking forward to a good time together at the course but were greeted by a very rude course ranger. I agree with the previous reviews about the rude staff. There is no way improvements have been made regarding staff. The course ranger was bossy, sarcastic and truly a bully. He accused us of being late but according to our watches we were to the box 5 minutes early. He snapped at my husband when he asked a simple question as if he was putting him out to ask questions. We golf at several different courses in wisconsin throughout the summer and none of the courses we play at have staff like this. The man working at the desk was unfriendly, cold, unprofessional, and condescending. The phone recording at the course states that golf digest rated the course as 4 star. If they hire new welcoming staff then it could possibly earn a 3 star rating - as it is now I would not rate it any higher then a 2.

While the course was good, I have never had such a poor experience with staff. At best the course ranger was a bully. Very rude and angry. And that was before we had even hit our first shot. It was all downhill from there. If you only want locals make it a private club. The staff seemed very put out by paying customers. The 2 groups behind us commented using much more harsh terms their thoughts on the Ranger. I would only go back if there was a staff change. The course was in good shape and we loved all of the wildlife.

If I could give half a star I would! Horrible service, staff were rude, and very unaccommodating for out of towners!!! When we asked if there was a beer cart driver on the course, they told, us yes. Although we didn't see her till we were half done, and than she never came back!!! Overall just a very unwelcoming experience right off the bat! Which ruined the whole point of our relaxing morning of golf! We won't be coming back!!!!

Won't let you golf alone despite calling ahead and booking a tee time. Guy put me with a twosome the morning of the time saying "they're too busy" despite me letting them know I wanted to golf alone two days before. If you want some time by yourself to golf, stay away from this course.

The last 2 times l've golfed here I was playing with people who were just learning to play. Both times we were hurried along by the course rangers and they would be hovering around watching our every move. It's not an easy game to learn and it's even more difficult when you feel your being rushed. On the second trip out it got so annoying one of the players with me quit. I am a motel manager in Eagle River and I know how important tourism is to our area and this does not say to me please come back. In fact I myself will not be back. Also my grandson has taken lessons the past 3 summers and this will be his last. The golfers that were behind us were very gracious and if they were in a hurry we allowed them to play through. The rest of the staff at the course are very accommodating but the course gestapo need to take their job a bit less serious. I've enjoyed paying and playing at the course and I believe EVERYBODY who pays should be able to play and enjoy.
