My husband and I go to a new Mexican restaurant everytime we go out of town. We always strive to find one that’s as good as our hometown restaurant. This place is probabaly our top rated of all we’ve been to. Atmosphere is traditional and fun. Staff was pleasant and efficient. Large portions, great prices and the food tasted amazing! My family likes this place but I find it mediocre at best. It could be the fact that I was born and raised in San Diego California. There is very little authentic about this place. I've tried a variety of their dishes and always leave disappointed. There fajitas are good but still mediocre. The service is fast but sometimes it seems like you are inconveniencing them. A big ol’ group of us (roughly 15? 16?) came here to celebrate a friend’s achievement, and I can honestly say we were super disorganized and didn’t really communicate with the servers how many of us there were going to be and when we’d all arrive… for that, I am incredibly sorry, however I will say, all the servers and the bartender were very adaptable and easily took on our group and our definite obnoxiousness. We took ourselves to the bar area so we wouldn’t be in the way of people trying to have a nice night out and the servers were totally cool with it and went with it, they were flexible in how we all ordered drinks at the same time (must have been very overwhelming for that bar tender but man, he was cranking out drinks left right and centre and they were DELICIOUS) but all ordered meals at different times. All this to say, I really wanted to highlight the terrific service that we received.
Now, the food? Oh my word… I got the barbacoa tacos and I can promise you I will be dreaming about these tacos for the foreseeable future. The flavour was out of this world, they were juicy and tender, just… give me 15 and that still wouldn’t be enough to satisfy me, they were just phenomenal. My partner got the Monster Burrito and that is exactly what it was, a monster. The thing was bigger than my head, just an absolute demon of a thing. He said he really enjoyed it, and said it was just as good heated up the meat day for his lunch, since he could only get through half. And even half of that huge, I’m impressed it wasn’t a three-day meal, really.
All in all, absolutely terrific place, the vibes were great, it really felt like you were at a resort in Mexico, despite it being a freezing snowy day in the middle of February in Wisconsin. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone who enjoys Mexican food because this place knows exxxxactly what they’re doin!

The worst mexican food in the valley! Its all premade and reheated. The plates come out scalding hot because your food sits under heat lamps for way too long. Everything on the menu is made from the same ten things and the quality has gone downhill over the years. I suggest Chicken Grill or Sangria's any day!

STOLE A TIP FROM US. DO NOT GO HERE. Horrible service. In general he was rude. Then we ordered a strawberry margarita on the rocks. First time he brought the wrong flavor, we told him and he took it back. Then he brings a strawberry margarita back blended. Which isn’t what we ordered but we let it go and didn’t say anything (we should’ve said something again). Then he didn’t return to our table. He didn’t bring our food someone else did (which I know is normal, just pointing that out). He didn’t ask if we wanted refills, didn’t ask how it was. Waited forever for the bill. We didn’t tip. Currently on a taco tour and this is #32 on the tour. We are eating the chips and salsa, lime margarita, steak and chicken tacos on a scale of 1-5.

Chips and salsa: The chips and salsa were served with bean dip. The chips were warm, but didn’t have any salt on them. The salsa wasn’t spicy and had a strong cilantro taste (if you like that sort of thing). The bean dip was sweeter but really good and served hot - 4

Lime Margarita on the rocks: They state that they are freshly made margaritas but it was poured from a machine. To be fair it could have been made in the morning and put in the machine, but I feel like when you list it as freshly made, it is made/mixed to order. Regardless, it was a really good margarita - 5

You cannot order just one taco here. The street tacos come three to an order. The taco was served on two tortillas. The steak was nicely flavored. Unfortunately there was some larger gristly pieces in some of them. The tacos were served with a creamy avocado salsa, which was so delicious by itself and on the tacos.

The chicken tacos were ordered from the lunch menu due to not being able to get just one. The lunch option comes with two tacos and rice and beans. The chicken was very dry, yet liquidy. The tacos were ordered with just cheese and sour cream. The tacos were a complete mess. Plus inside one taco was a very long piece of tomato skin (which you can see in the picture) and then in the other taco it had chunks of diced up peppers. The rice and beans never came with the tacos.

Service: Our server had an extremely difficult time understanding what was being said to him and had to be told multiple times. When it was brought up that the rice and beans had not been provided, which was to whomever we were paying, they rolled their eyes and stared at me and did not provide the rice and beans nor took money off, so as far as service goes, I would not go back- 1

Went here for mother's day with my fiance and daughter. We were seated quickly but our drinks were out of syrup. Took a long time to flag down someone to get fresh ones which I was fine with not a huge deal. My heart kinda broke though because it felt like our server did not check on us at all. Two other servers brought us half our food I got fajitas and waited 20 minutes to get my tortillas and bean/rice plate. I was sharing my meal with our 1 year old so this was frustrating. We had to flag down yet another server to get the rest of my meal. Didn't see our server again until she brought the check. Checked my bank account today and see that they must have changed my 43 to a 48... Very disappointing we were very excited to try this restaurant out from the reviews but my experience left me feeling ignored and honestly like a burden.. something a mom should never have to feel on mother's day. You never know what someone is going through.. I'm sorry for the negative review but I'm frustrated right now with an additional $5 I did not add on.

Have been an El Azteca patron my whole life! Although they don't have my *favorite* Mexican food of all time, their food is still delicious and affordable and the perfect casual—formal place for a quick bite, date, or family gathering. It's classic Mexican-resturaunt food, the atmosphere takes the cake with bright colors, tall ceilings, and art, and the staff is thorough and welcoming. I didn't even tell them it was my birthday, but checking my ID for a margarita had them serving me flan and singing Happy Birthday! 🎂💐 My favorite is the bean dip here—so delicious!

Who pays with cash in 2023. If you question your total you get ignored like you wasn't heard. This made me want to not tip because all the extra was enough for me. I will not be returning. I went to this place foe the first time on 06/19/2023. My pshrimp tacos were great! When I was eating my rice the waiter returned just when I put a fork of rice in my mouth! He watch me pulled the human hair out of my rice and my mouth! Was in appleton shopping and stopped by on recommendation from friends. First impression walking in was your typical Mexican style restraunt you walk into. My personal standard for a 5 star restraunt is old Mexico. As soon as we got seated we were instantly greeted and served chips, salsa and bean dip. The bean dip was really good but as for the salsa, it was very watery and not much flavor. For drinks I had the house margarita which again was very average and doesn't compare to old Mexico. For my main corse I had the big burrito and my wife had the chimichanga. My meal was again very average and not much flavor compared again to my standard at old Mexico. I tried a bite of my wife's chimichanga which was better than my meal. Overall if I had to choose old Mexico is stilly standard and would choose it all day. If Google had quater stars this would be a 3.5 star restraunt. Not bad by any means but there are better options in my opinion.

Found A LOT of tape worms in the steak fajitas i had 😭 i'm currently pregnant so this was extremely bad to find.
