My friend and I stopped in during a bike ride from Madison to Milwaukee. We were running low on water so we took a chance to stop in and ask if we could get our bottle filled. To our surprise, the bartender was extremely kind, and happily filled our bottles! Everyone inside was very nice and the atmosphere seemed like a great place to grab a bite. Next time I am in the area, I will certainly be stopping by and staying for a bit longer! Thank you again!

We ordered two Cowboy burgers and cheese curds for takeout tonight and the food wasvery underwhelming and overpriced. My food was 15 minutes late and instead of having haystack onions strings, as described in the menu, each burger had just one soggy onion ring. There was also hardly any bbq sauce on them, so we had to add our own. The cheese curds were so salty you could hardly taste the cheese. Delafield Brewhouse and Waterstreet Brewery both make much better tasting burgers and curds. I won't be cheating on them with Elle's again.

Staff is friendly and we were seated right away without having reservations. Nice atmosphere -good amount of seating but well spaced so not noisy, etc. Ordered Wisco Old fashioned-just tasted like watered down bourbon, not pleasant at all. I ordered the fish fry option-3 piece baked. I was served the battered. Although our server offered to make it right, I declined as the rest of my table was eating and I wasn’t going to wait for another meal. Our server did tell us the kitchen was out of baked anyway, so they couldn’t have made it right. There was no offer to adjust the bill. The other meals were average, the peach bruschetta (appetizer) was a blend of wonderful fresh flavors. Prices were fair. If I had received what I had ordered, I might be inclined to give a better rating, maybe a nice place for lunch…

We decided to stop on our way home from my son’s baseball tournament. I didn’t have high expectations based on the 4 star rating but wow, we had an excellent meal and service was great. My husband got the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and it was comparable to what you would find in Nashville! The Ella’s chicken wrap was also really good. The tomato soup was excellent. My kids loved the wings and the kids Mac! We also got the Dreamsicle mule drink which was tasty. The fireplace gives this place a lot of character. Great atmosphere in the summer too with the garage doors. We’ll definitely be back.

The waitress was very nice and she did a good job given the circumstances. Our water and drinks took a very long time to receive. We waited at least 15 minutes for water. We ordered an app with grilled peaches and the peaches were cold and didn't taste "grilled" at all. The food came out after 50 minutes and it was not good. My food was so bad I could barely eat it. When the waitress came by to clear my full plate of food, she didn't even ask if I wanted a to-go container...it was like she knew. I left still hungry and disappointed. Went to Sunday dinner and there was maybe 5 tables of diners max the whole time we were there. We ordered an appetizer and two cocktails right away. It took half an hour for the drinks to get to the table and the server came a few times and apologized that they were taking so long. After the drinks were there we had to ask for water which would have been nice to have while we waited. I got the blackberry bramble and it was okay. My wife got the porch pounder and it was way too strong and tasted really bad. Oddly enough the manager stopped by later to ask about the drinks and we mentioned it was way too strong and did not taste good. Instead of offering to remake it he kept trying to explain it was because of the type of ingredients they use which was bizarre. We got bruschetta as an appetizer and it was pretty good. After 50 minutes our server stopped back again after being gone for an extended period of time and asked if we didn’t get our food yet which seemed odd as there was only a few tables and she was the one that would have brought it to us. People that got there after us got their food already. Our food came out about 10 minutes later which was over an hour of us being seated. My wife got beef stroganoff and noodles. It was hot like it just came out. The meat was so chewy is was really unappealing and even the noodles didn’t task good. I got a chicken bowl and it was okay but you could tell it was sitting for awhile as it was cold. We didn’t complain or anything at this point but the manager proactively came over and offered us a free dessert at this point. I didn’t really want more food they prepared but he said it was from a local bakery so we got a strawberry pie. It ended up being tasty but felt like it was frozen and not fully defrosted. I think the thing that summed up the meal best was that my wife only ate about two bites of her meal and the plate was obviously still full. The server brought dessert and didn’t even ask if we wanted a to go container. It felt like they knew the food they make is not good and we wouldn’t want to take it home. I was really disappointed as the website has delicious looking pictures of the food and there were many good reviews here. Not sure if it has taken a severe turn for the worse since those reviews or what. I would definitely not eat here again.

This is a unique place. The bar is off to the side by a group room. There are machines for entertainment. Bathrooms were clean. Plenty of parking, outdoor seating available, weather permitting.
The middle of the restaurant was a highlight with a sunken seating bench section with a fireplace. It was very welcoming and comforting. The doors heading outside had beautiful etched glass.
We had apps for a party that were great variety and very tasty.

Picked up a to go order of Bang Pao Shrimp which were good. Ordered a Cauliflower crust pizza Pesto Veggie. Received a call back 8 minutes later saying they were out of Mushrooms. I said okay no worries can you replace it with spinach? No we are out of spinach too. Hmmm….okay then I will order a Margherita pizza. Picked it up and got home to open the box only to find 4 small baby tomatoes that looked like they literally threw them on the pizza as they were not evenly spread, same for the mozzarella cheese. Small pieces of cheese places mostly on one side..! Not anything close to the photo in their menu. AND NO BASIL. What??! That is what makes a Margherita pizza good. Apparently I wasn’t told they were out of Basil too???!! Sorry Ellas; your small 9” 20.00 pizza was so disappointing. I don’t want a refund. Just won’t return. Sad.

Waitress didn't ask how I wanted it done, and I forgot to ask for it well done. Burger comes with pink inside, fine, I know I didn't ask for it to be done any other way. Brings it back out, the fries are hot, bun is hot, but my once-bitten patty is lukewarm and same shade of pink inside as before.. umm.. The food is good enough, but I will admit I was swayed by the mega special on Thursdays.
A nice medium size pizza with 2 toppings easily enough for two and two Tall Boy beers including local crafts,......20 bucks. The beers alone usually run $6 each. The Atmosphere is the coolest with a fire lounge, big bar, and lighted atrium.
But don't miss the brewery way, a photo walk to the rest room with old pictures of Milwaukee Brewers and customers. Check out the post prohibition liquor store with the exorbitant price of a 1. 69 a qt for revival beer. I remember buying Qts of malt liquor for 40 cents in '72.

I have mixed reviews as others have said. The atmosphere is nice. The staff is very chatty amongst themselves to the point we have had to interrupt conversations to get another beer. We have been in about 6 times and at this point the only food I would get is cheese curds or maybe another fried appetizer. There is a lot of space around the bar and fireplace which is nice but the most people I've ever seen in there was maybe 8, 10 at the most. I'll go back again for a beer but that's about it.

I like the atmosphere, and the service depends on who's taking care of you. Some are great, like Kay and some are at or below average. I originally went here with my friend before he moved to his new place and the food and service was great. And then I came back just tonight with my family because they didn't want to do just another fast food place again so I recommended this place and once again great food great service. The burger I got was just the right amount of juicy but not dry at all either. the frys were soft and nice and warm in the middle crispy and delicious. and the cheese curds are a must get item so crispy salty and cheesy and they had a pretty good amount of cheese pull plus there even great by themselves if your someone that doesn't like dip and omg the desert I got a smores brownie it was amazing to and came with ice cream.and everyone else loved their food as well plus the prices are fair and it's just a really cool place to look around in. Tonight my husband and I had dinner at Ella's for the first time. The fish fry was flaky and the temperature was hot. The potatoe pancakes were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Ella got 2 stars, thanks only to our server who was attentive and did a fine job. The food was terrible. The pizza was average and similar to any average frozen pizza. Both orders of beer batter cod were Luke warm, obviously pre-made, and sitting in a warmer. The batter was soggy and falling off the fish. The coleslaw was sour, it tasted old. The "homemade" chips had the taste of being fried in old oil or maybe just refried. The baked cod was cool and the potato pancakes lukewarm. The steak and mashed potatoes were edible, but also just lukewarm. This was a very disappointing experience, with the exception of our server's good work.

Ella's was near a friend's house so we decided to stop there for dinner. It's nice inside with ample room. Expansive drink menu with a good selection of bourbons. I got a Four Roses on the rocks. We got some cheese curds for an appetizer that was good. It a mix of white and yellow curds. I got a side salad and then the Tomahawk Chop, which is a bone in pork chop. There was an apple chutney on the chop, which was very good. It came with mashed potatoes and choice of vegetables, and I chose the asparagus. Overall, a positive experience. (Edit) At least the food was taken off of our bill. I love the look of the place and the ambiance, and I really tried hard to like it...
Be careful ordering fattier steaks (ribeye) or burgers. They use an infrared grill that can smoke up and give smoky and oily off flavors akin to the taste of lighter fluid.
Staff said there was nothing wrong with the grill, and told us that it was probably us smelling the gas from the fireplace.

Had 6:30pm reservation at for New Year's Eve. We were seated at 6:35 and waited for over 25 minutes without any of the wait staff acknowledging my wife and I. They only did once we flagged someone down. Once someone did show up at table they did offer a round of drinks and free dessert. OK, things were looking up. Drinks arrived and were pretty much water. I've never had a weaker drink in my life. I had ordered a dinner salad and my wife a bowl of french onion soup. Salad was brought but soup never came. Only after our entrees were brought out were we informed they had ran out of soup. I had reminded the waiter three times at this point about the soup. Granted steak was good and both meals were hot so not a total bust. Desserts were mediocre at best. We had not been to this establishment since the reopening and were so hoping it would be good as it is close by and the bar are looks amazing but not sure we will be back.

We just came back on 12/15 to give it another try. We were here 4 yrs prior with poor service and not the best food experience except for the cheese curds. The service was outstanding at this last visit, which was such a welcome surprise because service seems bad almost everywhere nowadays. We had the curds again but this time they were not good. For dinner we had baked cod and the fried cod. Unfortunately it was not good. The baked was inedible. Perhaps something was off with the oil that made the curds and fried cod bad. I think we may go back but not for a fish fry.

Went to Ellas for the first time this evening with my partner.
Got right in and seated at a lovely table near the window and in view of the fireplace. Server was very prompt, friendly and attentive.
Food presentation was great!
We ordered the cauliflower wings app as well as the steak bites, and for entrees went for a porterhouse for them and fried chicken for myself. The apps and sides were fantastic! My wings were perfect and crunchy and the parm garlic sauce was lovely. Their steak bites were juicy and flavorful and the cornbread it came with was great as well. The tomato soup was also flavorful and clearly made fresh.
The entrees were the only disappointment- his steak was rather bland aside from the horseradish sauce he ordered with it, and my fried chicken was overdone and extremely greasy.
Our sides however were amazing! We both got garlic mash, which was creamy and flavorful, and I had the mac n cheese, which was rich and delicious.
Overall, a good experience , and we were happy to have supported a local business.

Have been to Ella’s a couple times now for their Friday Fish Fry and really enjoyed it! We had the baked and fried fish and were quite happy with the portions and taste. Waitresses were very helpful and attentive too. I’d recommend you give them a try!

Greeted right away. Friendly staff but slow moving. Ordered our appetizer and special and literally waited over 45 min. Not too busy on a Saturday at 5:45pm. Definitely need more bartenders even at this time. Brought a second before asking. Prices are a little steep for the plate size.

First time here, not at all disappointed! Wife and I moved to the area recently, and we're happy to say we'll add this to a regular stop.

We both had fish fry. It was delicious! I had the potato pancakes and they were cooked nice and crisp. Fish was beer battered of course but the batter had some kind of added seasoning almost like a curry powder. Added a new level of flavor to a usual Friday staple.

Service was quick, although it was 1 pm on a Friday so no surprise there. Our server, Aiden was dressed for Halloween as a French maid. Hilarious.

Looking forward to our next outing here.

Our waitress was attentive and gave us time. The food was very good. Fries were delicious. We had the Tuesday specials. The music was perfect background music. I am so glad that the pit is back. The atmosphere is bright and welcoming. The beer pictures and posters are very interesting.

Let me tell you... we come here once a week and have for quite awhile. We completely understand the slow service. That certainly is expected, especially on fish fry Friday. BUT tonight the food was INSANELY salty. First it was the clam chowder which was so salty it was absolutely inedible in my opinion. Then it was my salmon dish. Everything on the plate was so salty that we then felt the need to say something (editing: we did tell the lovely waitress we had so she could make the kitchen staff aware and we URGED her to try the soup for starters, just to understand). The rice... the asparagus... all of it. I just hope everything goes back to the way it was and soon.

Food is always good. Bartenders have personality and always remember you. That's really nice. They have an excellent chef that does a nice job for the price point. They always have a special and each month they do a special menu from a different country. So there is always something different.

My wife and I went here for dinner and had the steak and shrimp special. We have ordered fish fry's and smoked meatloaf and they have been awesome. We also always ordered the food to go. However, we decided to dine in this time. The steak and shrimp was just not good. The steak was a prime ribeye. It was literally 1/4" thick and was covered in some kind of greasy concoction. I expected much better for this price point and based on our past meals. This was just flat out gross and tasted like a dirty kitchen. We paid a lot for this meal and it was like a George Webb steak and eggs steak. Sorry Ella's, this was upsetting. We normally enjoy the food and this entrée struck out.

The place is very nice. I liked all the TVs all over showing the Wisconsin game. I liked how the volume was up and you could hear the game. The burgers and their special chips were amazing. Pricing was fair. The service was very slow. The weird thing was that the place was very empty for a Saturday lunch. We couldn't understand the slow service.

Havent been in this building for over 30 years. Love what has been done to it.

Was greeted at the door as we walked in and seated at a high top. Got our drinks and app in a timely fashion. All 4 of us ordered burgers. They were cooked as requested. Had the cowboy burger, pig mac, and the 2 of the ella burger. All were delicious.

I will be back the next time we are through Wisconsin.

Right off the Galcial Drumlin trail near Wales is this great spot. Tuesday special was $2 off tallboys and $2 off burgers. The Bang Pao shrimp app was excellent. Had the American burger which was made to my medium well specification perfectly. Nice charbroiled flavor. Wish we had tried the cheese curds also!!!! Maybe next time, will definitely return.

Drove 45 minutes to meet our son for dinner at Ella’s. Never been there before, but glad we took a chance. Great outdoor atmosphere, friendly service and the food was excellent. I personally recommend the 2 inch thick Pork Chop with Apple chutney. It was awesome.

We are not usually big “ oh let’s order meatloaf people” but it was excellent. The smoke on the meatloaf was so good! And the Brady old fashion was really good as well. Ella’s is an unexpected gem. The cheese curds are the best curds in WI - state fair style with a delicious homemade ranch. The short rib sliders are a must, absolutely fantastic. French onion soup was hot, crust stayed crispy while the bread soaked up the flavorful soup, with the perfect amount of melty cheese. Steak Diane was smothered in a cream sauce. Only thing that was a bit negative was the size of the medallions, they were very thin and a bit fatty, but still tender and melt in your mouth. Green beans were cooked to perfection. Will definitely be back!

Arrived and got seated but no one attended to us at all. There were 3 tables who were seated after us that got served right away meanwhile our group of 4 were ignored. We waited 35 minutes for nothing. No drink menu, no server to ask what we’d liked, nothing. Service was terrible so we left.
