For many years Famous Dave's was a go too for our family. Even as far as my wife insisting on eating their before her fasting for her C-Sections for each of our kids. I have gone there twice in the last six months. The experience is gone, instead of what staff they have basically a cattle feed to order your food. The presentation is completely different and the food, at best was mediocre. I get most of the changes I mention were made a long time ago, but the food was still good, time before last my ribs were cold. This last time they were dried out like they were microwaved to long. Not the same, there are better rib places in Madison.

Food was fine, but the service… one of the worst I’ve experienced

The food at Famous Dave’s in Madison was decent — well-prepared and tasted good, they it did the job. Unfortunately, the terrible customer service completely ruined the experience.

Honestly, this was one of the worst places I’ve ever visited in terms of service. The waitress who attended us seemed upset from the moment we sat down. She literally tossed the food onto the table, never brought what we asked for (like ketchup or sauces), and started turning off lights and cleaning up around us while we were still eating.

We noticed the same behavior at surrounding tables, so it wasn’t just us — she was clearly taking out a bad day on everyone. We initially thought maybe it was because we arrived close to closing time, but there was still an hour and twenty minutes left before they closed. That’s more than enough time to order, eat, and leave respectfully.

I wouldn’t recommend dining in here. If anything, it might work for takeout, but the in-house service is truly disappointing.

All my experiences have been absolutely wonderful if there ever has been a mixup, which is very very rare they take care of it immediately to my satisfaction. There’s one young lady with blonde hair and she wears it in a ponytail and she has so much energy and she is wonderful above and beyond kind, welcoming and full of spunk and energy. It really bothers me that I can’t remember her name but she’s the best she deserves like nurses get Daisy awards. She should get some kind of award because I have seen her work her magic and people coming in all moody and grumpy and when she waits on them as they’re leaving, they’re smiling Darn I wish I could remember her name

Have to order as soon as you walk in the door at a counter and then seat yourself. Food is brought to the table, but everything else is self-serve. They have a drink machine, and to go boxes, bags, and condiments are on a table off to the side. When we went, many of the tables and all the booths were covered in dirty dishes from previous diners. They stayed dirty the entire time we were eating and until we left. The food was very good. In fact, it's better than our local Famous Dave's. I'm just not a fan of their dining system and wished someone was out bussing tables. It is unappetizing to see old food, chewed bones, and dirty napkins just laying around for over an hour, at the very least.

I ordered a curbside pickup. Followed all the directions, let them know I was there 2 minutes before the quoted 'ready' time. After a few minutes, I double-checked that I sent the notification correctly. It seemed to have gone through, but I let them know again that I was there. They seemed busy, so I was patient. I was reading while I waited, so it didn't seem long. Until I realized it was now 20 minutes after the time quoted.
I went in and told the cashier I had been waiting over 20 minutes for my curbside order. Told her my name, low and behold there it was, on the back counter, just sitting there all by itself.

I ordered the South Side Rib Tips and the Beef Brisket, and my 2 sides were a side salad and smashed red potatoes and a piece of Pecan pie.

The cashier told me napkins and silverware were in the bag. In fact, she told me that twice.

I was going to a park to eat by the lake. By this time, it was raining, and I decided to eat in the park's parking lot.

Then the lukewarm meat.
The beef tips were hard and very fatty. Not 100% surprised by that because you take a chance ordering those.
The brisket, the only real reason I ordered from here was hard. The layer of fat was thick and soupy. It was almost impossible to remove. Usually, the fat easily falls off, nope! Remember the silverware that the cashier told me twice about? Non-existent and no napkins. I could have cut off the fat but...

I haven't been to this Famous Dave's in years at least 7 or 8. To come back and see that a lot has changed. The food is horrible! I don't eat pork, but I tried one of my husband's tips. It was nothing but fat on it. I had the brisket and it was tuff and over cooked! I had the banana pudding. That was even nasty, and tasteless. The lady who took our order said that they no longer smoke everything in house anymore, and that everything comes in pre-smoked now. All they basically do is reheat it, which is disgusting! Famous Dave's need to go back to how they use to smoke in house. You can taste the difference!

I ordered them from DoorDash and they gave me the oldest food ever, how can anybody any place be this careless and heartless, like people don’t get sick? I ordered two meat and two sides all of that food was old as heck, I spent over $30 and I’m so annoyed and now I’m not even feeling well tbh. Like treat people how you want to be treated and feed people how you would want to be fed. I’ll never risk anybody health for being lazy or rushing. Them rib tips were definitely old, the chicken and corn as well the corn taste spoiled. Let’s just all pray I don’t have to visit the ER!!!! I got a $15 certificate in the mail. I got the pulled pork sandwich and fries with pickles and added the coleslaw. It was very good. The BBQ taste was subtle and that made it good for me. Pickle taste was really good and fries were excellent. Coleslaw was excellent as well. Thanks for the experience. Friends here in Madison speak very highly of the franchise.

Sure doesn't feel like your standard chain restaurant! The food is top-notch with plentiful servings at reasonable prices. Service is friendly, prompt and attentive, even when they're busy. Have dined-in and always found the place clean and well-kept; bathrooms are well-stocked and very clean/fresh.

I am in a wheelchair, so accessibility is important to me. I found the premises easy to access and maneuver without much difficulty.

There is a manager, I believe his name is Matthew, but I could be wrong! He wears a plaid shirt with famous daves stitched onto the left shoulder. HE IS AMAZING! Because of him I am forever a permanent customer. I came to your park street location in Madison, Wisconsin because of a horrible experience that I had at the quiznos down the street from you guys where the employee at quiznos refused to serve me because I asked him to wash his hands before preparing my food! I explained my horrible experience to you guys while waiting on my food. Matt was kind, understanding, and sincere. He went above and beyond to ensure that my experience at famous daves was the polar opposite of what I experienced at quiznos. Because of the way Matt treated me, I will continue shopping with you. This is how many wings I got for 14 ounces so they give you these big ass party wings that’s gross. The manager Kyle has a very nasty attitude and they need to be secret shopped more often because they gave me cold chicken and got an attitude when I asked to correct it. I drove all the way 30 mins to eat and got this bull. Kyle should not be the head manager he doesn’t have the patience’s or respect to deal with adversity. I placed an order for a two meat combo I got baby back ribs and Southside tips. Picked up the order baby backs were dry, tough, almost like yesterday’s batch of ribs. Then they gave me a tiny order of tips for $25. I went back and to no avail they still couldn’t get it right. This was the new order of tips. They were tough, and clearly dehydrated. First time eating at a Famous Dave's. Spouse and I enjoyed the meal (sausage, pull pork and brisket w/ sides). The food came in a more than reasonable time after ordering. The place was clean too (we came the last hour open on a Saturday evening). Tipping though is tough when the bill is paid at the beginning of the meal, so I feel for their waiting staff.
