This is a quaint, welcoming family-owned restaurant with a top-notch menu and excellent servers. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to find our names on a little chalkboard sign reserving our table with a sweet “Happy Anniversary” wish. The drink selection was impressive (including n/a options) and the food was delicious. We shared the Scarpetta (warm ciabatta loaf with 3 dipping selections) and loved it! I also enjoyed my Seasonal Ravioli, which was butternut squash. We could see the chef working diligently at the wood-fired stove, and every meal is meticulously prepared to look and taste amazing. Highly recommend.

A cozy little place tucked up into a quaint downtown. Food was spectacular, but don't expect to get off easy as the prices are a bit steep. Still, if you like good food and price is not an option ... this is the place to go! Can't recommend the bruschetta as an appetizer enough!

If you appreciate “slow food” in the Driftless region, come to a restaurant where the speed of service is best described as glacial. We were given a glowing recommendation of this restaurant by a very friendly local resident, and we were excited to try the food. We waited twenty five minutes for drinks: a red flag, for sure, but it was delicious, so we patiently waited for our salads and appetizer. Fifteen minutes later our salad arrive: also delicious, but we were starting to get concerned that our 6:30 Saturday table setting meant we were getting dinner at 8:30 - or maybe Sunday morning. At 8:00 my partner asked the kitchen when we would be getting our dinner. He was told that we might get our food in a half hour - maybe. He told the hostess/server/runner that we would pay for the drinks and salads, and please close our check. She yelled at him, and then lectured him that this was a “slow food” restaurant, and we were the most entitled customers she had ever served. Entitled to a reasonable speed of service? Yes, we are.

If we were told by the server that we should expect to spend an entire evening eating a one-course meal, we could have tempered our expectations and made plans accordingly. Instead we were lectured after the fact, called thieves, and left hungry. The coup de grace: the owner left an angry voicemail on my partner’s phone - at 12:30 in the morning the day after our visit - letting us know she was sending the sheriff to the place we were staying to arrest us for “stealing” the dinners we were never served. Yep - our dinner was ready at midnight.

From the moment you walk into Farm and Hearth you feel comforted. You're greeted with wholesome smells coming off the wood fire grill, it's warm and intimate inside, the people are kind, and you feel right at home when you see your name written out at a table set for you and your party. The food is extraordinary, intimate, and memorable. I'll be back!

This was one of the best cooked meals I’ve eaten anywhere. The food was cooked to perfection. We ordered the mushroom and black garlic crostini and the wood fired walleye and the pork chop. Every bite was sublime. I want to go back and try every item on the menu. This is a destination restaurant.

Easily one of the best meals I've ever enjoyed at a small town establishment. The halibut with the wonderful sauce was truly fabulous. Baked cabbage - I don't normally go for cabbage, but this was delicious. The mushrooms, oh so good. The red potatoes. So good. My wife had the salmon and couldn't stop raving about how good it was. We also had the appetizer loaf with dipping sauces. Steaming fresh. Excellent. And, we tried four different Italian sodas: so much fun. What a wonderful experience with great hosts and superior service. Truly a great dining experience. Complete 5 stars. Make a reservation.

If you’re anywhere near Wonewoc, WI and even if you’re not, make your dinner destination Farm and Hearth Wood Fired Bistro! It is a rare gem! Every bite of their delicately seasoned pork chop and roasted sweet potatoes is a delicious reminder of the simple joy of well prepared, locally sourced food. The chimichurri sauce is vibrant, zesty and a perfect complement to the subtle smokiness of the Halibut. Five stars is not enough!!

We have been here many times over the years. It changed hands a while back but the quality is high and very unique. Reservations are suggested. They are limited as to how many guests they can serve. Excellent atmosphere, excellent food. If you are in a hurry, go another day when you have time to enjoy it.

A wonderful New Year's Eve experience with friends. Service was excellent, just know that the food is prepared individually and cooked in a wood fire stove, so it's not fast food. The mixed drinks were very good, and each part of our meals were cooked as perfectly as one could ask for (I had the lamb chops medium-rare). Side dishes were great, the fire roasted carrots were a game changer for my own cooking future! The restaurant is not large and virtually all the tables were full with people enjoying themselves and plenty of laughter, yet we had no problem having and hearing our own conversation (something that I can struggle with due to tinnitus) so the atmosphere was very good in that regard. Definitely a spot to return to. Great for special occasions, date night with the spouse, etc. Oh and I'm not at all a s'mores fan, but split it as dessert with my wife and it was amazing. Very impressed!

My friend brought me here for my birthday dinner and it was amazing!!! The restaurant itself reminds me of days gone by where people could sit and enjoy one another’s company without distractions. The menu has so many delicious options that we had a hard time choosing something. We picked the brussel sprouts, spinach salad, and French onion soup as starters. It may have been the best French onion soup I’ve ever had! For our entrees, I had the walleye while my friend had the swordfish special. The meals were wonderful! We couldn’t leave without trying dessert - crème brûlée and s’mores! Come prepared to take time to enjoy your meal - if you want fast service and food to come quickly, this is not the restaurant. The pride they take in their restaurant and the food shows! I will be back again.

We recently dined at Farm and Hearth Wood-fired Bistro and were captivated by its unique, family-owned charm. From the handwritten reservation waiting at our table to the absence of a traditional bar (replaced by a delightful wine bar next door), the experience felt personal and inviting. Watching meals prepared in the old-style stone hearth oven added to the ambiance.

The quality of our meal stood out, particularly the lamb, walleye and ravioli. Seasonal entrées and drinks were also available. Our server, Iris, provided excellent service with a smile. While the preparation time is longer due to individual attention, it’s well worth the wait.

Farm and Hearth is a gem—a testament to the warmth and dedication of its family owers!

Absolutely delicious. Our group had the Brussels sprouts appetizers, scarpetta, and wild mushroom/black garlic crostini. They were all amazing. Our mains were the sesame encrusted ahi tuna and the wild mushroom ravioli. They were so delicious. Finally, we ended with the homemade graham cracker and marshmallow s’mores. Wow. The drinks were delicious, atmosphere was beautiful, and this slow, leisurely dinner shared with family for my birthday was perfect. What a gift this place is!

Lovely family owned restaurant in Wonewoc, Wi. Happy smiling service. Great food: my locally sourced salad with tasty blue cheese dressing and french onion soup was outstanding. My husband thought his steak could have been better (less tough) but the deserts, a raspberry cobbler and chocolate pudding, were delicious. Lovely touches, like a welcome sign at our table. I highly recommend.

Superb dining experience beginning to end. This hits all the marks. Friendly greeting the moment we entered and that added touch with our name chalked in the reservation marker. They are only open a few nights a week for a couple hours and they absolutely optimize it with the fresh farm ingredients. We had the special swordfish, walleye, and salmon. Each was excellent full bodied and delicious. I have asparagus and a mashed sweet potato. Every bite beginning to end confirmed the choice of visiting. Halfway through the chef checked on us stating if anything wasn’t up to standards he could adjust. If you are around on the weekend…DO NOT pass up the opportunity. You’ll be thanking yourself without a doubt.

From the moment you enter; the tone, the feel, the kindness that emanates from this "Farm and Hearth" will surround you and take you back to an era you thought long gone. This hard working family pours laughter and passion into everything they do. And the food reflects all that....and more. Authentic and honest and perhaps rarest of all; Unique. Who would think that such a small village could have this outstanding charmer of a restaurant. The food could not be any better! I've eaten out at some Michelin 3 star restaurants and they have nothing on this place. Quaint, friendly and unique. They use locally sourced fresh food and everyone at our table (7) was blown away. We shared 4 small plates and all were delicious. I had the Salmon w/sweet potato and cabbage, both prepared in ways that I've never had before and they were wonderful. My husband had the walleye w/ 3 shrimp and said his was perfection too. Anyway, please give it a try when you have time for a leisurely dinner. It's slow food at it's best! Tonight, had the pleasure to experience a 5 piece jazz band came out of retirement from Chicago & boy were you in for a treat!! These folks know how to play! It sure made you feel like you were in the movie, The Great Gatsby or roaring 20s!

Lest not forget the service, food, ambience also incredibly amazing in their own ways! There were all sorts of drinks to choose from. We each picked a few. The food is slow cooked & believe me it's worth the wait! Everything was to our liking including the homemade desserts.Yum!

We had early reservations & stayed till 8. The table is yours for the night & there's no rush to anything & that's the most beautiful thing bout it all. They take care of you! We will spread the word & definitely come back! Thank you for a delightful B-Day dinner for my wife, we knocked it out of the park!!

If you’re thinking about going, don’t think - JUST GO! This was one of the best meals I've ever had and since I am a big foodie from Milwaukee, that should say something! We didn't make a reservation but went on a Thursday night around 5:45pm and the waitress, Iris, (Chef Jeff's daughter) greeted us with a warm smile. Right as we walked in we felt at home, smelled AND saw Jeff cooking in the hearth through a glass window, and I just knew it was going to be a memorable meal.

Iris gave us menus to look over and I was very impressed with their list of cocktails that were both unique and affordable. The Spiced Cranberry Old Fashioned was sweet and warming and the Black Cherry Sling with their house made black cherry syrup was fruity and refreshing.

Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs for sure, but I don't regret a thing. My husband and I immediately decided on the bacon wrapped dates. They came 4 to an order, were crisp yet tender, and still sizzling in their cast iron dish. These were the best we ever had! The wood hearth made the sweet, salty, savory, crispy, smoky, and creamy flavors just sing. The roasted brussels sprouts came in a light olive oil and apple cider mustard glaze with cashews. Another layer of flavor from the fresh green apple slices on the side gave it a little zing and tartness to balance out the dish. The french onion soup was incredible! The onions were cooked perfectly, the broth was well balanced and not overly salty, with depth from the red wine. The provolone cheese was browned and bubbly on top.

Entrees: They had a local rainbow trout special and I couldn't recall the last time I had rainbow trout (if it all). It was cooked perfectly: flaky, moist, and the flesh slid away so easily from the skin. It was super fresh, mild and seasoned perfectly with flecks of sea salt, pepper, herbs, and butter topped with grilled lemon. The wood fired oven cooked the fish beautifully leaving the edges a tad bit crispy with a light smoky finish. That is all this fish needed and Chef Jeff did an incredible job knowing how to elevate this dish without adding heavy sauces that distract from the fish. For my side I chose their "sweet potato Crème brûlée" because that just sounded insanely good and I was not wrong. Soft, fluffy, buttery, and sweet served in a skillet. The entree also came with seasonal veggies and the carrots were slightly charred and tender. The wood fire really brought out the natural sweetness of the carrot. The dinner roll even deserves a shout out because that was also so good!

My husband ordered the seasonal ravioli and we were blown away yet again. The presentation was beautiful with four round raviolis topped with shaved parmesan on a bed of greens. Now these weren't just any bed of greens - the spinach was sautéed in the wood fired oven with red onion, sweet peppers, mushrooms and olive oil in a small skillet which created a byproduct of little crispy sweet vegetable morsels that I absolutely loved. I believe the filling was some sort of mushroom filling which was creamy and delicious. Don't you dare leave those greens on the plate. They’re not just a garnish!

The wood fired s'mores was a chocolate lover’s dream so it put my husband on cloud nine. The house made graham cracker was topped with a generous dollop of their house made marshmallows, plus a ton of chocolate. The graham crackers were my favorite since they added a slight saltiness to the sticky sweet dessert.

We were the last ones in the restaurant so we got to talking to Jeff and Iris. They brought us behind the glass window so we could see where all the magic happens. Jeff is so knowledgeable and charismatic and we could have chatted all night! Most importantly, Jeff has a deep passion for his craft which is evident in every single bite. There's something so natural and true about watching Jeff cook fresh food with fire and you need to experience it for yourself. Thank you so much Jeff and family - we will be back!

Comfortable, relaxed and cozy atmosphere highlighted by pretty in-season floral arrangements by the owner. Limited seating keeps it cozy, so reservations are recommended. The wood-fired oven is blazing away and visible to diners. Fresh items all around. Appetizers were elegantly presented and tasty. Bruschetta was a delicious choice. The French onion soup was hard to top. I could eat a bucket of it, and so I request they offer a large-size bowl as a second choice! Filet mignon was done perfectly.
