Very disappointed, atmosphere was more bar than restaurant, seating to a minimum, the menu was a little odd. I chose a cheeseburger with lettuce and tomato. I received no tomato, the lettuce was fried! And the burger was over cooked and dried out like it was cooked last week.
I would not recommend eating here.

Last minute came in with a large crowd on a thurs (30+ people). The staff that was there did a great job accommodating us. We were able to hang out on the patio and they even brought out chalk for the kids. The food was amazing and they did an awesome job staying on top of orders. Would recommend, will be back.

Good experience overall . Much cleaner than any of the other iterations that have occupied this space in the past. Gal behind the bar was friendly, let us know the special. Had their Vietnamese pulled pork and my wife had the Cuban. Fantastic place, we were recommended here for their poutine. We got a couple of quesadillas, and I got a Cubano. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. My only complaint was that the poutine didn't have enough gravy or cheese curds, but given the size of the dish, it's understandable why this was the case. The amount of bacon in the poutine was crazy. There was enough bacon for every individual fry to have some. Quite fantastic, I would recommend to anyone suddenly craving poutine as I was.

Also, imagine this, I got pickle fries with my Cubano, and I decide to try one. I think to myself, "That tasted pretty good, but it'd be even better with ranch." I look at my plate, and lo and behold, the pickle fries came with ranch. Surreal experience, very tasty!

I never feel disappointed when I stop in to Fatheads for a quick bite to eat. The food and service is always top notch. I tend to come in early Tuesday afternoons because I know the bartender (Chaunce) always has her head on a swivel and very quick to check in on you, no matter if you're at the bar or sitting at one of the tables. She always it super clear that order and settling up a tab is done at the bar, so there is no confusion.

I hope the owners how lucky they are to have such a personable and reliable worker on their team.

Service was something else. Came in on a Tuesday for lunch while in La Crosse for a work trip. After walking in and sitting at a table, the gal behind the bar said you had to order by coming up to the bar. No problem, a couple locals were sitting at the bar and she was engaged in conversation with them. Waited and placed my order and sat back down. After getting my food, she disappeared for a break. During this time, a group was wanting to close out and stood around for 5 minutes before someone came from the back. Also saw 2 different people enter, wait a couple minutes and end up leaving. When the lady finally returned, she checked on the locals at the bar and engaged in their conversation but never checked the rest of the bar to see if anyone needed anything. I 1000% understand your locals are what keep you going, but as for someone out of town, felt like she could care less if I was there or not.

Atmosphere was fine. As mentioned locals were there and you could tell they enjoyed the place. Place was clean and in good shape.

Think there could be some training on service of checking on customers (refilling drinks, asking about how their food is, etc.) if taking a break, would probably be a good idea to make sure someone is keeping an eye out for customers entering the bar and wanting to close their card when done.

It's a seat yourself, then order at the bar type. Smaller inside than you'd expect but you can also sit outside, inside of a fence. It was pretty empty at the time we went and the food was cooked very fast. staying the night at the Home 2 suites where they tried to recommend a creole restaurant. after searching Google maps Fathead Steve's looked to be what we were looking for. a few beers and bar food. it was a two block walk and our first impression was that of a local dive bar with pool tables and darts but once we entered it was way more than that. everyone is welcoming and steve is a gem. we ordered a shaved prime rib which was excellent but the pickle fries , oh man, i could have taken a bag of those home with me. Great bar. Great food . Great people. and to top it off it was happy hour. Gonna make this a stop on every future trip up to Mayo.

Love this place but did not have a pleasant experience this time. Paul was extremely rude. We were having a good time, chatting, trying to be nice. Got a bit busy as more people came in. We had Fathead Steve's Food Truck cater our wedding and they were AMAZING. Price - they were very fairly and transparently priced. Options - they worked with us to design the ideal menu and allowed us to choose everything from their world famouns cheese curds, hotdogs, salads, and BBQ wraps. Flavor - we had two food trucks and people by far raved about the Fathead Steve food items. Their flavor was superior and made the day perfect. Guests LOVED the cheese curds. Not too fried and the best flavor they had.

I think our experience was tainted by a pub crawl. I'd give it another shot for sure. The food was decent the bar tender was awesome despite being slammed in the middle of the afternoon. As a person who has only eaten at the Fathead Steve's food truck, I was really looking forward to visiting the restaurant, and it did not disappoint! The Cubano sandwich was AMAZING. Excellent food and a large patio area! We got the fried avocado appetizer followed by the duck and greens and the Vietnamese pork nachos. Everything was so good and made with very fresh ingredients! The nacho chips were definitely homemade and the fried duck was crispy juicy perfection. Topped off with rich, spicy bloody Marys, it was a great meal. The staff was friendly and helpful, even unlocking the side gate so we could get our stroller through to the outdoor seating, to avoid bringing our new baby inside during the pandemic. Was at a kid's soccer outing and Fathead Steve's food truck was there!! Was my first time eating their food and I was very impressed!! I had a Cubano and pickle fries, the sandwich was one of the best ones I've had. Great job!!
