I was in town for a few days and stopped in for dinner. The chicken parmesan was terrific—so much so that even after eating about a quarter of it, the leftovers still wouldn’t fit in the to-go container. The service was outstanding, and Kanisha was an excellent bartender.

A couple of nights later, I came back and tried the meatloaf. It was just as impressive—excellent flavor and another generous portion. Doug did a fantastic job behind the bar that evening.

It was nice to feel so welcome while away from home. Great food, great service, and great people. Come hungry, because the portions will not disappoint!

If undecided on where to go to eat when in Milwaukee, then go to Final Approach. We have been there several times and always had a great meal. Tonight was Prime Rib, Stuffed Pepper soup, baked potato and salad. Cheesecake and Peanutbutter Choc cheesecake for dessert. Bourbon Old Fashion very good, closer to original recipe than most. More like the sipper it is supposed to be. She enjoyed her Lemon drop Martinis.
It is a bit diner, a bit supper club. Very good bar.
Had their Cod Fish Fry today, very large servings. The Clam Chowder was so thick, my spoon stood up in it. Full of flavor and clams.

This is my first time back to the Final Approach in 15+ years… not sure why I stopped going except I thought it was more of a bar with basic pub food. But this is more of a full restaurant…. with a great selection of dishes, including my favorite restaurant meal… Meatloaf. I ordered the meatloaf and it was absolutely delicious. This is the first time I ever had meatloaf for the barbecue sauce and that was really really good. The service was great, our server was very attentive. You’ll be glad you checked this place out.

A/C didn't seem to be working in some areas, wait staff seemed to be mad about who was getting tables, and management was mad with the wait staff it seemed. HOW have I lived in Milwaukee this long and never visited? Solid menu, hell of a fish fry, and I said to Lisa (who was awesome) that I was totally geeking out over the cleanliness of the beer glass.

You can’t fake that lacing; gotta have clean beer lines and thorough dishwashing. Told me everything I needed to know about the place. Especially for family visiting from out of state, this was a perfect place to show them an awesome fish fry spot.

If you are going on a Friday though; get a res! Place was hopping.

The French Onion soup was one of the best ever. A must for any visitor. This family owned restaurant prepares everything right there, the home cooked dishes are perfectly made with fresh ingredients and flavor. The service was excellent. The home made carrot cake and cheese cake were the desert highlight of our outstanding lunch. Also have to mention the loaded Bloody Mary, with shrimp, celery and other assorted veggie compliments. Nice atmosphere. Dont miss this place. Really excellent all around. Excellent value for the price.

Greeting staff seemed pretty stressed and then was clearly upset that we didn't want to be seated near the live music. Wait staff checked in a few times but each time of course we had mouths full of food and couldn't ask for refills although our empty glasses sat near the edge of the table, wait staff didn't take the hint. Absolute TERRIBLE experience. Party of 4, seated at a table. We sat for a good 20 - 25 minutes without anyone coming to our table. That is, until the hostess came and asked us to move because they had a larger party coming in that she forgot about. This was not a huge problem since it was a small group of high school friends meeting up and we had plenty to catch up on. We gladly moved tables for her, and told her it was not a problem at all.

It BECAME a problem when we sat at the new table, right next to the one we had already sat at for 20 - 25 minutes and were ignored, for an additional 25-30 minutes without anyone even acknowledging us. I finally waved down the hostess and let her know that NOBODY has come to our table(s) for almost a full hour. Mind you, it was NOT at all busy. If it had been, I still think someone should have checked in at minimum on if we needed drink refills.

The hostess apologized, said she never informed the waitress we were seated (again, it was NOT busy, you would think the waitress would notice that her table had people seated at it). Ok, I am a very laid back person, I understand things happen. We FINALLY saw a waitress after about an hour. We got drinks refilled, and ordered appetizers. Before the appetizers even came out, she wanted to take our dinner order. We informed her we did NOT want our dinner served on top of our appetizers. She assured us that this would not happen, so we ordered.

It took some time for the appetizers to come out, again, no big deal since we had a lot to catch up on. Appetizers finally came out, but we had NO silverware. We again had to flag her down and ask for silverware. Almost immediately, she wanted to serve the soups that came with our dinners. We asked she hold off a little bit. Soups got served and eaten. She THEN comes out to let us know they have no prime rib, which 2 of the 4 of us ordered!! This was their SPECIAL for the night!!! We looked around at the very few people that were in the restaurant eating, and not one of them had prime rib!!

We ended up leaving without ever having our dinners served to us. They didn't comp ANYTHING at all for the horrible situation. We will NEVER return there again, and this was our first time there.

Also, the atmosphere was really nice, UNTIL they had a singer and keyboardist set up and perform at way too loud of a volume for such a small area. TERRIBLE experience, and all of us were in from out of town. We chose this location to meet in the middle. NEVER AGAIN!!!

I recently visited this establishment for lunch with some people from out of state. We were here because their relative was ill and staying at St. Mary’s hospital. We were offered a private area to talk over lunch, even though there was no one using that front seating area. The waitress was wonderful, the food was wonderful, and all was perfect. Unfortunately, it wasn’t until the next day that the out-of-state gentleman who picked up the tab, realized that he did not have his credit card. I offered to visit the restaurant just to see, by chance if the card was left in here at the restaurant. Sure enough the bartender had my friend’s card locked up and everything was fine. The gentleman was so relieved to get his card back. The service and care given to his family by your establishment was a wonderful reflection on our city and even greater reflection on the honesty of your staff and restaurant. It was just fine. Place was dated; definitely gave the Midwest supper club vibe (maybe it once was one), but not a good supper club. Service was average, attentive server, but one of our dinners was missed by kitchen staff. Server noticed right away and had back staff hurry as best as they could and still be cooked. We all had different dinners, and some things were tasty while most of it was a bit bland. We were coming home from the airport and were hungry. This satisfied our hunger, but we won't be making a trip back if ever in the same situation again.

I'm a traveler from Indiana, recently a few of my friends and I were in town for a Convention (Non-political). This is my second year visiting Final Approach, its usually my last stop send off on the way out of town.

Let's start with people, I love everyone here the staff is so polite and grateful. Final Approach feels like welcome home after an exhausting weekend trip.

The food is absolutely Phenominal, the 747 is a challenge for our uninitiated friends, the mozzarella sticks are fantastic, get the pretzel & beer cheese, its made to order!

Atmosphere feels a lot like if a small "Moms Home Cafe" style diner met the pilot bar from Top Gun. This place feels like a prime hallmark of a local community. 100% reccommend, I will see you all next november.

Near Milwaukee airport—A fellow Irishfester suggested we try the Final Approach which was a short distance from our hotel. It was easy to find, plenty of parking, knew I was gonna like it when I saw the plane on the roof. We were a group of 6, they sat us quickly. I was surprised by live piano music then the soloist came out. What a neat surprise, think Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra type lounge singer. The foot was large portions (I don’t think any of us finished our meals), delicious, and a great night. If you’re in the area it’s not really a supper club, not really a sports bar, a nice crowd and friendly staff.

Love it for the fish fry experience. They seem to get the right level of thickness and doneness on the beer batter, and the pieces of cod are large. This is one of the few places where I think the normal portion is adequate and you don't need to upgrade to all-you-can-eat. Also a fan of the potato pancake side option with applesauce. And it wouldn't be a fish fry in Wisconsin without an old fashioned. Even though this place is in the city, it feels a little more like an up-north establishment.
