This bar is one of the more unique locations I have every visited, the food was good the mega logs make the best mozzarella sticks you'll find. The wife's old fashioned was a bit strong on the brandy and a bit weak on the bitters but it was ok.

Wednesday AYCE chicken is the bomb! And their burger of the month is always AWESOME! This month's was a pizza burger. Their other specials and regular menu items are very worth trying. Update...All the food is still awesome. Had the most recent burger of the month, the BBQ Burger, and it was an explosion of flavor! We started our visit inquiring if reservations were needed. A very polite lady answered the phone and I formed my they were recommended. I set up a reservation with her. We arrived about 5-10 minutes late as were had never been to Winter. When we arrived we were greeted by a friendly lady who told us it would be just a minute and apologized. The bar was full of people who appeared to be enjoying themselves and the restaurant area was busy as well. We were seated within 5 minutes at a lovely roomy table.

The menu had plenty of options to choose from and the salad bar was open. Our family did burgers, chicken sandwiches and a steak dinner. Since it was a busy night we expected to wait for our order to be completed. We didn’t mind the wait as they had a table with games to choose from. We chatted and played a couple of games while we waited for our food. The food arrived and it was plated beautifully. It was fresh and delicious.

The restaurant felt welcoming with amazing decor for the Northwoods type of feel.

The atmosphere is very unique, and I love all the decor. A real north woods feel. However, the service was poor. Bartender yelling at customers.

We understand you were busy, but that is no way to treat people. Our large party decided to leave without eating or ordering a drink. Despite what response they have to this review we have 15 witnesses of this poor service.

We will try again, because we get that everyone has a bad day. But it will be a while.

that had blue hair, was very rude. She was behind the bar and when someone in our party asked for a drink she yelled at them that she wasn’t the bartender and then ran away, like how are we to know that when she is standing behind bar and even so she could have been professional and not rude. Then our drink waitress was also rude telling us she didn’t have time for us because we were taking too long to order. If she was professional she could have said I’m really busy so give you a few minutes. Then the blue haired staff member was stomping around in the area we were sitting and talking about us under her breath and when confronted she apparently didn’t like it and came back with to go boxes and whipped them in our faces. We did nothing wrong and the she told us we had too much to drink which yes we had been drinking but we went other places after this and told our story and not one said we were a problem or we had too much to drink. We can’t believe the unprofessional staff at this establishment and after talking to people we aren’t the first people to be treated in this manner.

Update: to be clear, I was not aware of people in our party that were touching the taxidermy. I was focused on how the staff were acting after it seemed like it was getting ridiculous. I never called you or anyone any names so again, the brunette was not me. I will be accountable for what I know but this I definitely was not aware of. Please message me regarding the amount we owe as I wasn’t aware that they were added to dinner and not paid for at bar. Thank you.

The 1 star review posted 8/11/2024 is completely 1 sided and uncalled for. I sat a mere 8 feet away from this group while eating dinner with my spouse. They made spectacles of themselves, insulted the staff, and displayed rude behavior over our table as someone thought it would be funny to stick his finger in the nose of the moose over our table. The review is unfair and any truth to it is difficult to ascertain from my point of view. Great staff, great service. Loved the good natured teasing from the waitress regarding the "prize" for finishing the pasta. Let's just say that dish is an event and I'll be finishing the 2nd half this evening.

I visited for the first time this past Wednesday with my 91-year-old aunt to celebrate her birthday, we were camping nearby at Connors Lake. We did not realize it was the broasted chicken special that night but we were thrilled because it was absolutely incredible! Our service was excellent, the food was fabulous, as were our drinks. By 6:00 p.m. , on a Wednesday, there was a wait for seating, a true testament to their food and service. The Northwoods feel and antler decor was very welcomed, my late father was a life long hunter!
I even noticed a stack of games they had for kids and families to use❤️

We had a delicious steak and shrimp dinner last night and even though there was a steady crowd our waiteess Lynda was so personable and never left us thirsty or wondering when we would eat. She was happy and friendly at all times. Even when the table behind us berated her over how long they'd been waiting and how hungry they were. Yet we witnessed them making several trips to the salad bar and coming back with heaping plates. They were rude enough to only leave an 80 cent tip. ☹
Unbelievable after she came back time and time to get them whatever they needed. People like that don't belong coming to this beautiful area.
Keep up the great work Lynda, we appreciate the amazing job you did!!

In the humble opinion of my son and me,.... Flambeau Forest Inn serves the best BBQ ribs in the state of Wisconsin. Every time we come here we leave happy and satisfied. We vacation a few times a year about 30 minutes from here, and gladly make the drive each and every time we come up. Kelly and the other staff have always been kind, accommodating and easy to talk to. When they are busy or backed up, they have always been open and honest about wait times and possible delays (if they have them). Absolutely love this place!

We reserved a table for 3 and went yesterday evening for supper. Lindsay, our waitress, was phenomenal. The restaurant was very busy and she somehow managed to keep everything under control and the customers happy. Lindsay is very friendly, attentive and appeared to really enjoy her job.
The salad bar had a wide variety of fresh vegetables and dressings.
My husband and friend both had prime rib and I had the broasted chicken. We also ordered a prime rib meal to go.
We were beyond pleased with the exceptional service, great food, laid-back atmosphere and very reasonable prices.
The Flambeau has the most awesome Northwoods decor.
We will definitely be back.

Visited some friends in WI for the week and they said we had to go to the Flambeau Forest Inn for the Wednesday night special — AYCE Chicken Dinner and the rolls with maple butter. Let me just say it was absolutely delicious. Though we came at the end of dinner (they close at 8:30pm), the green beans were crisp, potatoes were well-seasoned with garlic and the roll with the maple butter just melts in your mouth. Our waitress was super friendly. Will definitely be back the next time I’m in town.

Yes it was busy, yes I had to wait for my order; if I wanted food immediately I would have stayed home and had a bowl of cereal. The staff was kind, the regulars were welcoming, and the atmosphere was fantastic.

We ordered food and we think they forgot our order. We were just sitting at the bar and my husband noticed people after us got their food and he started to wonder we did see the bartender finally recognized this and got our soup 15 minutes later. My husband had a mushroom and swiss burger but their was no swiss on it. My burger was half burnt. We usually have good food here we were disappointed. Went there on a sise-by-side ride, about 100 miles one way,, with a crew of others. We drove up there for lunch. The bartender was a real crabass! She looked hungover! She told us it would be over an hour and a half before we could eat. Needless to say they lost alot of money in food & drinks that day from our crew! Clearly you have politicized a review that was another attempt at taking away the fact that your place of business is only as good as your people you have behind the bar at the time. I have never been thrown out of any reputable establishment in that area in the 25 + years that I have been there. You obviously have no clue as to who you need to cater to. You have taken an establishment from a warm and welcoming place to I have no idea what I was coming into. As far as I am concerned, we shook hands before I left, after I apologized for my outbreak.
