You may have to wait for a seat and/or for food but it’s worth it. All staff were friendly, food was delicious (we ordered pancakes and an omelette), and the old train car atmosphere is fun. Worth a stop if you’re in Kenosha.

Best Pancakes I have had eating out EVER!!! These beat Dennys and IHop by a mile!!! They are fluffy and flavorful and yellow(?) and AMAZING!!!! The wait was 45 minutes but quicker because we wanted to eat outside at a table. There were a TON of bees but they weren’t in the least bit aggressive-just makes sure you keep your drinks covered because they get nosey about that sweet smell-they were truly harmless and actually entertaining. We opened a syrup and sat it on the opposite of the table and it kept them entertained and sugar drunk so all was good. Frank’s wasn’t just great food-it was an EXPERIENCE!! Ohhh plus LOVED OUT WAITER!!! He was awesome!!!

I only came to this place because my boyfriend insisted it was really good. I went today for my first time and got served our drinks right away. Unfortunately we waited for 30 minutes until we got frustrated because our server kept walking by us and serving and handing out food to people who came in before us. Needless to say my first time there was absolutely terrible I wanted to love it but the server with the curly hair is a completely rude and made me not want to go back. I would say that the one of the guys was nice enough to not charge us for the drinks after we told him the situation.

This diner is one-of-a-kind! I enjoy the great atmosphere and vibe from the staff. My favorite is the B's & G's, but today the chalkboard said the soup was Bacon Cheeseburger!
That really hit the spot after the B&G's. They could have used the creamy soup as a biscuit topper also!

My first trip here. Waited about 45 minutes for a table of four. Reservations taken only for six or more. They are known for Frank's Famous Garbage Plate: a very large breakfast plate. However, we had lunch: the Wow burger, mini corn dogs, tuna melt, Spam sandwich, side of homemade hash, tavern fries, and their homemade bread. I wasn't keen on trying the Spam sandwich-I left that to the others in our group! Everything was tasty, staff very polite and they worked well together, like a well oiled machine. Atmosphere is great. Look up its history, it's worth a few minutes divergence. While waited for our table, we walked around the corner to "Tavern on 6th" for scrumptious Bloody Marys. Frank's Diner is a very nostalgic place to eat, especially knowing the history and how the building got to be....feels like you're transported through time.

Visiting from Melbourne Australia, came here with my family after seeing a facebook ad about it’s 99th anniversary. This is a super cool little diner that has to be experienced. It's an old train car so the space is tight but totally worth the effort to squeeze yourself in to here. They have a larger table in the back that our group of five was able to sit at. The food is all typical diner food but everything was very tasty. I highly recommend trying their homemade bread, preferably in their French toast dish if you can! The pancakes were probably the best I’ve ever had and it is huge!! I also the the stuffer Omelette and their hash browns are just perfect! Cluld not recommend it highly enough! What a great experience it is to go to this place! It is obviously a very unique diner, so that’s worth it alone and the staffs are super friendly, Prices are affordable by today's standards as well.

This place is CRAZY awesome! It's an old train car. You walk in and it's already nutz. Tables on the left and a buzzing flat top packed with sizzling goodness on the right. I won't spoil it for you anymore, get the special. It's far and away the most creative breakfast I've had. My wife had potatoes with her breakfast. They were so buttery yellow, looked like they've been marinating in butter for weeks. What a great place providing a truly memorable meal experience. Can't wait to go back!

🚲 Frank’s Diner, Kenosha, WI — Bikepacking Heaven Served with Eggs 🥓🍳
Picture this: you’ve just pedaled your way up from Chicago, your legs feel like they’ve been tenderized by a professional butcher, and your stomach is auditioning for a role in The Fast & the Famished. Enter Frank’s Diner—an unassuming railcar of joy that somehow manages to feed both your body and your faith in humanity.
The food? Oh, it’s not just food—it’s the culinary equivalent of a bear hug from your grandma if your grandma also had a tattoo sleeve and a frying pan bigger than your ego. The world-famous Trash Can Breakfast Special is less a meal and more a dare. Eggs, hashbrowns, meat, veggies—basically everything except your bike chain tossed together in glorious harmony. Spoiler: we all ordered it. Spoiler #2: none of us regretted it, except maybe our arteries.
But here’s the real kicker: the owners. These people don’t just serve breakfast, they serve kindness on tap. They took one look at us—sweaty, spandex-clad, resembling raccoons who’d lost a bar fight—and instead of calling the health department, they set us up in the best way possible. Accommodating, warm, and somehow making us feel like long-lost family who just pedaled 90 miles for a plate of salvation.
On our bike trip we peddled through some amazing and huge subdivisions and saw some incredible homes (including the Home Alone home, but I digress ) , but no place made us feel more at home than Frank’s Diner.
So, if you’re bikepacking from Chicago to Milwaukee and you don’t stop at Frank’s Diner, are you even bikepacking? Answer: no. You’re just hungry and making bad life choices.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Five stars. Would pedal again.

Need to tell them when you enter which line you are in...

Will sit at the bar
Will get food to eat at tables outside (or take home)

This place has been featured on the Food Network. Very famous Kenosha diner. I was there 6 yrs ago and decided to bring my grandson to experience Franks Diner. We walked in, there was lots of yelling by the staff behind the counter. I gently asked if we sat ourselves, the lady said "yeah, any table that's clean." We chose the clean"est" table (though it wasnt what I'd call clean) but I was still positive. Then we saw all the flies, flying in the diner, in the open kitchen and over the food waiting to be taken to the patrons. My grandson was creeped out and we left. Won't be going back. 6 yrs ago, the food was fair, so this review for food is based on past experience since we didn't eat this time.
This would be a 'skip it' from me.

Went on a Sunday just before noon, be prepared for a wait, but the food is great. Service is kinda lacking, but that's because they're serving the rest of this busy diner. Definitely order their cinnamon roll! Best one I've tasted yet, deliciously cinnamony, soft, and warm. HUGE homemade toast, you get your money's worth.

If you’re anywhere near Kenosha, Franks’ Diner is an absolute must. Walking in feels like stepping into living history — it’s cozy, bustling, and full of character. The staff greets you with the kind of warmth you only get at a true hometown favorite, and you can tell immediately why this place has been a local institution for decades.
The food is beyond incredible. Portions are generous, flavors are bold, and everything tastes freshly made. The Garbage Plate is legendary for a reason — it’s hearty, delicious, and keeps you full for hours. Even the simplest items, like pancakes or eggs, are cooked with a level of care that makes them taste extraordinary.
The energy inside is contagious, with the sound of sizzling food on the grill and locals chatting over coffee. It’s the kind of place where you feel part of the community the moment you sit down. Whether you’re a regular or a first-timer, you’re treated like family.
Franks’ Diner isn’t just a place to eat — it’s an experience. Between the history, the atmosphere, and the unforgettable food, it’s hands down one of the best diners in Wisconsin and worth going out of your way to visit. the 1100 Tequila Shot celebration needs it’s own review!!!!

An upcharge of $3 per garbage plate is very disappointing. I took my daughter and we got two garbage plates and a cinnamon roll. I asked the waitress what the $6 extra fee was for in my bill and she had to scramble to find the little sign stating the fee. I told my husband about it, and he was the one that wrote the review and stated the hidden upcharge behind the napkin holder. I am writing to clarify that it was behind the holder of menus and whatever else you have there, which is the hot sauces etc. Number one if it's been this long that you feel that you need to charge three dollars extra per plate you should notify customers because obviously it was not in view because your waitress had a hard time finding it. Don't worry, I still tipped well because it wasn't her fault. I do not normally write frustrating reviews because of one bad experience. I do know that reviews affect people coming in. I feel the response was a little rude, but it does show a little of where customer service is at. We did enjoy coming to your place over the past couple years but this is stretching service a little too far. There are 5 eggs in the plate. Eggs are averaging $3 or even less and that's not purchased in bulk. So to say the least $3 is a large EXTRA fee to charge.
***update. Read through reviews on how professional the owner is when responding to any reviews that don't go their way. Sad to see. It's a major reflection of customer care.

Do it. Just do it. Franks is the bomb! Tasty food - super unique feel (expect some friendly sass from staff). Cinnamon roll is the best. Mimosas are wonderful. Garbage plate with corned beef and all the fixins - yum yum yum. Oh and don’t forget the homemade honey wheat toast! They have treated my 95-year-old grandmother and I very well the past few years. Frank’s Diner is an absolute gem! From the moment our family of six walked in, the atmosphere was cozy, welcoming, and full of charm. Our server, Pablo, was top-notch—friendly, attentive, and truly made us feel at home. Breakfast here is an experience you won’t forget. From the gooey, irresistible cinnamon rolls to the legendary Garbage Plate, everything is bursting with flavor. The homemade corned beef hash is perfection, the fresh bread is heavenly, and the brownie pancakes are pure indulgence. Every bite feels like comfort on a plate. I had the Garbage Plate with multiple meats, cheese, and jalapeños—really tasty and well-prepared. My wife ordered the French Toast. That French Toast with the melted butter on top is by far some of the best I've tasted. You can taste the quality ingredients in each bite.

Don't get the biscuits and gravy. The sausage gravy is basically all gravy no sausage, and the biscuits underneath are too soft for biscuits and gravy, in your mouth they just feel like more flour gravy. Took a while to get drinks, then were starting to think they'd misplaced our order as two different waiters came by to ask if we'd gotten our orders in before food finally came out.

Had a garbage plate which was tasty. Homemade bread was amazing.
They are currently charging more for meals with eggs which is fine and there's an additional paper on the table that tells you this, but it's not reflected in the prices on the menu. The paper is also not visible or obvious unless you happen to dig through everything where the menus are.
If you are looking for a quiet place this isn't the place for you. It's small inside so the general ambiance is loud. Adding to this is one of the workers who screamed "We've got a virgin here" whenever he learned that it was someone's first trip to the diner. Plus they served tequila shots for whoever wanted them which was also associated with the same worker screaming. Just a heads up.
Glad I went but not sure if I need to go again.

Coffee was a great cup while waiting for food. Sausage was very tasty and not greasy. Home made toast was very tasty. We sat at the counter and we entertained by the running waiters. Everyone was very friendly. If they walked past with a coffee pot they automatically refilled my cup. A little tight for room but grandkids and I enjoyed our first visit. For sure will be back.

My family met at Frank's every morning when we were in town visiting, and we all left more that happy each time! The character of the diner is full of history, the food, many options, all delicious and plentiful.
But what struck us all the most, is the kindness shown by the owners, staff, and regulars. It is apparent, Frank's staff and customers are truly family. Julie, Timmy, and Angel were especially exceptional. (Kevin, I'm sure you are not as bad as the t-shirt says 😅)
My family is grateful for our dining experiences, the t-shirts, and the kindness we experienced there. We look forward to our next visit to Frank's Diner when we are in town next.

Franks diner!!
This awesome train-car of a restaurant opened in 1926. The food was perfectly proportionate, and super delicious! If you are traveling through the area, this is also a very neat opportunity to meet people at their sit-up breakfast bar, where there is fast-paced service - there is no telling who you’ll meet! I had the chorizo omelette, with home-made toast! It also appears that they pour a kettle of melted butter onto the hash-browned potatoes, a very delicious option!

First the good. Food was fine. Got the garbage breakfast and it was good, can't say it was special or anything crazy but just good. As silly as it might sound the toast was amazing. Also, the service was nice and friendly.
Now the negatives. We were surprised at the bill when it was $10 more than expected. When we arrived we were offered doggy bacon a couple of times. "Would your dog like some doggy bacon?" "Can we get you some doggy bacon?". Now every time we've been offered (key is 'offered') food for the dog at any restaurant it has always been no charge. He has gotten crazy things before so some bacon didn't seem that unusual. No it was $4 for two strips of bacon. Also the prices on their website don't match the menu prices. That'd be ok, but we didn't get menus so each plate was $2 more than what was online ($4). Also they charge an extra $1 per plate for eggs ($2). We were told there are signs and it's on the menu...we ate outside where there are no signs and again we got no menus. So that's a total of $10 extra dollars that were added in a way that felt a bit unscrupulous. Not sure if it was intentionally shady, but it definitely felt dirty. It's not the extra money itself, I get it, they have to make a profit. It's the not being upfront and even after recognizing we are outside and were not given menus doing nothing about it. But the dog bacon felt worse. If we had asked for bacon, then obviously would expect a cost. When it is offered up and with the extra "the owner loves dogs" too, that is implying it's complementary. If it had just been one issue maybe not a big deal, but it was three. The stuff at the end really soured the whole experience and I don't think we'd go back. You can get similar quality food for better prices in so many other restaurants. Except the toast.

Frank's diner is a Kenosha staple! Locally & family owned & operated for more years than I've been alive, the food is beyond amazing, portions are huge! Customer service is top notch,,it's more like a meal with family than the average customer-- server restaurant service. I'll end with simply saying, if you're in Kenosha, make sure you have breakfast or lunch at Frank's diner, you won't be disappointed!! 😋

No question about it! This place is literally the best. Food is ALWAYS top notch with flavor and variety. The staff is helpful and engaging. They always have unique specials. Everything is made from scratch. They have the most delicious homemade bread. Other diners/restaurants of this type could learn from Frank's.

Great vibes, plenty of selection, good food, big portions. Tight inside the train car but still comfortable. The pancakes were probably the best I’ve ever had. The loaf of bread is huge! The biggest surprise was their many awards for best Soup, so I’ll try that next time. The waitstaff has personality and are true professionals. Waitress Paris was spunky and helpful.

Thank you! Service and food was absolutely amazing! I took my Mom for Mother's Day, they were of course busy, but we got our MomMossas right away, We ordered the special Chocolate banana bread french toast with fresh strawberries. It was absolutely divine! Definitely going to go back and indulge in a garbage plate! Thank you Frank's staff for a wonderful experience for my Mom and I on Mother's Day!

1st time visiting here was an awesome dining experience. My girlfriend is from Kenosha & told me about this place so she took me & my son here for breakfast. The food was amazing obviously I had to get a garbage plate like she had recommended! Our server was amazing very polite & quick. I can now recommended this place to anyone that wants to try something different! Thanks for an outstanding 1st visit we'll be back next time we're in town!!

Went here for the first time today. Definitely worth it. The food was so great, I had the ham and cheddar omlette with hashbrowns and homemade toast, which was likely the best toast I've ever had. My partner had the Biscuits and gravy, which must have been delicious because he actually finished the plate. We shared a cinnamon roll with delicious creamy icing, and had a blast chatting with staff while we were there. Will definitely be stopping in more often from now on.

What an awesome experience! Crowded, fun, but cozy atmosphere. Tried the 1/2 garbage plate, the fresh bread was amazing, and the biscuits and gravy. DELISH! Great little bloody mary too! I heard they were 99 years old yesterday.

I didn't get a picture of my food this time because I was too hungry! I had a garbage plate but the specials looked amazing as well. Two of the specials sold out as I was eating. The portion sizes are generous and the price is great.

The food was good, the service, I felt like I am getting yelled at, because I didn't order fast enough, even though it took half hour for our waiter to arrived and took our order, another 45 minutes before our food arrived, on top of waiting 1 1/2 hr outside waiting to be seated.

Franks is one of those places that you have to at least see once! It’s a classic diner with simple choices and small areas. They service is meant to be fun and shared so you’re not dedicated to anyone in particular. Took us a minute to “get that” while we waited for “our server” to come back around.
The greeting was a little cold the first time up the stairs to put our names in, but softened back up when we were called for our table. Again- you have to understand the workings of this famous old train car restored diner.
Breakfast took a while to get to the table, but the portions were large, the bread was homemade and you didn’t go home hungry or broke.
I guess you go for the entertainment. As we ate, the music got turned up, the servers gathered and shots of tequila were shared with anyone and everyone that wanted one. Seems Party at Franks was Alive and Well.
Frank did come around to check on things twice so I give credit where credit is due. He cared and wanted to make sure guests we’d taken care of.
The walls are covered with fun memorabilia, bathroom is downstairs, and cash is preferred. Would I go back? Sure. Top five? Probably not, but definitely worth a check mark on your Bucket List for Kenosha.

HOLY COW !!!
This place lives up to the HYPE !!!
I have heard stories about this place for a few years. Decided to swing by on a day off for lunch. Walked right in and got a booth, I know... I was lucky. 1pm is the sweet spot on weekdays. The food was delicious, the staff were great, and the decor and history of the place put it over the top for me. The sausage gravy & biscuits rule, and so does the garbage plate. DO NOT SKIP THIS PLACE IF YOURE IN KENOSHA !!! I said what I said...🙌

What a great experience it is to go to this place! It is obviously a very unique diner, so that’s worth it alone, but the staff is super friendly and the food is good. The garbage plates are really good and if you sit at the counter, it’s fun to watch them being made. I also got a Bloody Mary and it was good. Definitely worth a visit and it lives up to the hype.

I called to place an order and was told it was a 45 minute wait. I have health issues and was hungry and decided I wanted to cancel my order. I tried to call a few times with no answer and it says their voicemail is full so I couldn’t leave a message. I decided to keep trying to call I got through and told them I wanted to cancel my order that wasn’t supposed to be ready until 10 am it was now 9:50 am because I had to keep calling for an answer. I was told that they put the order on the grill. I tried to tell him this wasn’t my first time calling to cancel my order and it is still before my pick up time. The man screamed at me and told me to never order from there again. Awful customer service. I am a repeated customer and have been ordering from them for years. I have never canceled an order and didn’t deserve that treatment! I will never eat there again. I wrote this review at 10:02 am. My pick up time was 10 am. I tried calling several times prior to me finally getting an answer at 9:50 am to cancel my order. I placed my order at 9:15 was told 45 minutes the first time I called to cancel was 9:33. I started calling in adequate time to cancel my order. It doesn’t take 30 minutes to cook eggs. Even once I finally spoke to someone at 9:50 that is not how you treat customers.

Finally tried this place after hearing how wonderful it is. Food has no flavor and service was horrible.
Edit: Just saw the owner posted that this is a fake account. I live in Kenosha area and am not fake. I went to your establishment for the first time. I didn't like the food and the service was terrible. Sorry that you cannot take an honest review.
