Great food (everybody's in our party opinion), a good place for a later lunch during the week, when the restaurant is not busy. Nice views of the river out of the big windows.

The adjacent loud group of people was seated right next to us, even though the restaurant was virtually empty and they could have been easily seated at the other end of the room. The wait staff was average.

Buyer beware: the "chocolate cake" is just a large piece of a chocolate fudge (not much to do with a real chocolate). We found it impossible to eat more than one forkfull of it at the table, and even its overnight stay in our house refrigerator did not improve things.
Och, and there are no free refils: each one of my three glasses of Sprite was around $3.50.

On the receipt, there was an option for an additional (the secondary?) tip of 2%, 3%, 5% or 7%. Pleeeze! Is it not enough that we leave a decent tip -- now we have secondary tips???!!! How about a tertiary or a quarternary tip??? That is just not acceptable!

The view on the outdoor patio overlooking the dam is very remarkable, the sound of water running makes for excellent ambiance. The pasta I had was remarkably well cooked and the sauce expertly prepared. However, my appetizer of wagyu meatballs might be the only dish I've ever had as a garlic fan that had perhaps a bit too much garlic in the sauce. The alcoholic drinks are reasonably priced, but could do with being a bit cheaper.

Service and atmosphere were great! But I can't help but be disappointed in the food and drinks. Cocktails were watery and the food was so so, the Turbot fish was very tasty but a tiny portion and on top of very salty gnocchi. The Pappardelle was bland especially the packaged noodles. Tiramisu had an odd texture and lacked flavour as well. We really wanted to like it here but left wanting especially for the price. Wasn't worth the calories even.

Nos encanto desde el primer instante en el que entramos al restaurante el lugar es tan lindo y acogedor al entrar nos recibieron con una amable y cordial sonrisa, yo había reservado una cena de cumpleaños con mi esposo y pedí una mesa afuera pero cuando llegué me recomendaron una mesa adentro ya que afuera estaba algo oscuro y aceptamos nos llevaron a nuestra mesa y el lugar me seguía pareciendo encantador al sentarnos rápidamente se acercó la mesera tan linda y con una amabilidad muy agradable nos ofreció algo de tomar nos dio el menú y bueno a grandes rasgos nos atendió bastante bien pedimos lo que queríamos cenar y la carne estaba deliciosa bueno exactamente todo era perfecto hasta ese momento mi esposo ( que estaba cumpliendo años) estaba tan feliz por la amabilidad que tenían hacia El al saber que era su cumpleaños en fin puras maravillas puedo hablar de ese restaurante para cerrar con broche de oro le dieron a mi esposo de postre un pedazo de chocolate con un chispeta encendida con la leyenda de “feliz cumpleaños” obvio eso corrió por cuenta de la casa 😊… la verdad no dudaremos ni un momento en volver a regresar todo fue genial ahí se volvió uno de mis lugares favoritos en Appleton de ahora en adelante 👏🏻

Let's just say.... spectacular!! I am so excited to say they have revamped the menu and all their ducks are in a row, as I have patronized this establishment during covid and was not very impressed, however I can now say that we will be returning!! The chicken tenders are amazing, the entrees were very portion friendly and fresh, and the desserts were incredible. The ambiance is very special, however can be a special occasion or just a nice meal. Pricing was very budget friendly and service was outstanding.

Very nice place for dinner. Food was good but not amazing and a little high for the quality. Would go again but they definitely need to up the game a bit. Curds were 5 out of 10 and average so comparable to frozen, pork belly was a little dry since they are thinner strips and not cubes. Flavor was good though. Prime rib was delicious but they need thicker plates to keep it warm longer. It was honestly just slightly warm so the plate must have been cold or not warmed at all. Overall I would say give it a try. Just have had better at other local places and expected more. Definitely all easy fixes for them

We visited for lunch and the meal started out mixed. The pork belly appetizer was fantastic (a bit sweet in my own opinion, but my family disagreed), however the recommended chicken tenders were disappointing. The portion was incredibly small and the flavors were underwhelming.
Major issues began with the entrees. My sister found a large fly in her pasta and while being by the water might explain it, it was still an unsettling lack of quality control.
My own pasta dish was so overwhelmingly salty, I felt like I had to force it down. I was hesitant to complain about yet another dish, but my mother mentioned it.

And I have to be clear: the response to our complaints were nothing less than perfect. A manager apologized, took both meals off the bill and brought complimentary desserts for all of us.
However, despite the professional service, the whole experience felt awkward after mentioning our issues. Interactions became brief and sparse with our waters left unfilled (which was difficult for me, as I was trying to eat my meal before the complaint was made). The situation was topped off by some strange glances from the kitchen on our way out that felt pretty bad.

In all, while I appreciate how most of the situation was handled, the food quality-to-price wasn't to my standards at all.
I wish them the best, but will not be back.

The first thing I noticed was the absolutely stunning view of the river. I think the atmosphere of the brick building really rounded out the visual experience. However, the real star of the show was the food. The freshness of the food and the care in which it was prepared, made for an unbelievable dinner. 10 stars for service! Our waiter, Dom, was fantastic. My husband said "do you realize that was the best service we have ever had out?" Atmosphere: outside dining on the river watching the bird life. Note: there are bees. Food: we got the bruschetta, could have been the meal! Large portion and flavorful. I had prime rib, I was going to have NYStrip but Dom said prime rib was much better. He was absolutely spot on. The flavor! Brussel sprouts, hear me out, done to perfection with a hint of sweetness and enough for 3 meals. Took half steak home too! Hubby had a chicken pasta dish that he loved, also enough for a second meal.

I had the pleasure of dining at Fratello’s, and what a delightful surprise it turned out to be! Despite being in a smaller city, this restaurant has clearly earned its spot on the map, especially with its Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for 2025. I wasn’t expecting such an extensive wine list here, but I was truly impressed. It’s a rare find in Appleton to see a restaurant with such a broad selection of wines, and while the markup is noticeable, the quality and variety are well worth it.

The Food:
I was treated to a recommendation from Jimmy, a friendly bartender originally from southern Maine (my neck of the woods), who suggested the walleye. The fish came perfectly cooked—sweet, tender, and with a crispy panko crust that added a delightful texture. Paired with a unique twist on a Caesar salad, which was served as individually dressed bib lettuce leaves, it was a refreshing take on a classic dish.

The Service:
The service was top-notch. TJ, our bartender, had a big, welcoming presence, providing a touch of elegance that set the tone for the evening. TJ noticed within milliseconds that I needed attention, even without any sort of signal. This is a man who exudes professionalism. Both Jimmy and TJ made the experience feel personal, offering insight into the wine selection and helping make the dining experience even more enjoyable.

The Wine List:
I can’t emphasize this enough—the wine list is incredible. The wines are priced with a distinct markup, but I felt it was well worth it to explore some unique bottles I wouldn't normally encounter. It’s not every day you get to enjoy such a variety of wines in a smaller city, and Fratello’s has clearly made an effort to curate a collection that stands out.

The Atmosphere:
The restaurant’s setting is another highlight. With a stunning view of the falls and abundant wildlife in sight, the ambiance is peaceful and scenic. The crowd here is interesting, and while the menu is elegant, it draws in a mix of locals and visitors—many of whom, like myself, are likely coming for the impressive wine list.

All in all, I was thoroughly impressed with Fratello’s. Whether you're there for the unique wines, the amazing food, the incredible service, or the breathtaking view of the falls, it’s definitely worth a visit. I’ll be back for sure.

Delivering a good experience can be a one off opportunity. So tonight, I broke all of my rules and went back to the same place two times in one week.

Mine had no discernible seasoning (including salt — and it was a House Special so you’d think they’d have the flavors down), my companion’s had too much salt and too much garlic. Out of all 5 of our dishes, none was anything I’d want again.
For the prices, you’d expect a lot more. Could be an incredible restaurant if they put more effort into the cuisine. Instead they’re coasting on their wine selection. Truly disappointing.

The atmosphere is amazing. The service was top notch. My steak dinner - ordered medium was served medium rare and cold. The pat of butter didn’t melt. The red pepper side dish was also cold. The Brussel sprouts were super hot. I ate it all without complaint because it was delicious. My son’s walleye was big and meaty with a beautiful panko exterior but there was zero flavor to it aside from the lemon juice. We finished our meal with a tiramisu (yummy) and french roast coffee (give it time to brew). Side note - this restaurant has a separate gluten free menu.

We ate here twice with an excitable but loving dog in tow and the staff were understanding and accommodating when we needed a nice place to eat during a stressful week caring for a hospitalized family member.

Everything I ate was delicious, from the cheese curds to the brussel sprouts to the rib tip panini and truffle fries to the apple pie cannoli. And as a fervent specialty soda fan, I really enjoyed the bobbers blueberry soda.

We had an amazing dinner here last night. We were able to make reservations on Open Table which was really nice. We were greatest by the host who kindly gave us a window seat. The beautiful view was of the dam and the raging Fox River. Lots of fish and water fowl to watch. Our server, Morgan was super. He was very knowledgeable and passionate about his job. We had the delicious bread service with their homemade butter. Next we had the Wagyu meatballs and butternut squash soup. Both were excellent. There were so many great menu items to choose from it was difficult to choose. I had the scallops annd corn risotto and my husband had the penne pasta with chicken. Very good restaurant in a beautiful location. Plenty of parking and they have outdoor seating when it is warmer out. One of the get restaurants that still do a free dessert on your birthday. The dessert was a very rich, delicious chocolate cake. Service was very good.

Whoever remodeled this space did an amazing job! However I have had meals at this place dating back about 15 years. I want to go here for their amazing location. Honestly though, the food is mediocre at best. It would seem that because of their location they do not feel the need to provide a decent standard of food. They over charge for food that is done to a higher standard at a supper club. It really is a shame. I wish this was a place worth recommending beyond stopping in to admire the view. For a good meal go anywhere else. If you want to stop in for a quick drink to look out at the river, I recommend walking to the building next door to enjoy a nice glass of wine at the wine bar there. I have been going to Fratellos for at least the last 10 years . Never been disappointed, always 5 stars . Today I had the tomahawk pork for 42 dollars and was terrible . Mostly fat, and the meat part was hard and chewy. I ate 1/4 , left 1/4 and the other half was fat. So sorry, but you have to know to do some changes . The service and the environment still wonderful!!

Haven’t been there in nine years and I remember nine years ago the food was amazing now the food was tasteless overpriced And the portions were so small. Very disappointing for the money that was spent the food was horrible

Reserved the outside dome. Wonderful updates since my last visit! Higher tables, chair backs, multiple heaters, ceiling light decoration, off the ground deck with outdoor mat. Beautiful night - great food- good service - wonderful company.

My husband and I had reservations And when I checked in, I asked if we could have a table overlooking the river and the hostess replied that it wouldn’t be a problem and that we would be called in shortly. When we were called in, she brought us to the regular dining room and I was confused and asked about the table by the window and she said that those had filled up really fast and we weren’t able to be accommodated. My issue is that we were told that we could not ask for those when we made the reservation, but that does not seem to be the truth. It looked like they wanted to fill those with as many people as possible and we were just a party of two. The last time we were there the food was great, this time I ordered the short rib Pappardelle and it was disgusting. Did not have enough salt, had no flavor And the onions were raw. We will not be coming back

Food was warm, not hot, but it was valentines day so they were pretty busy. Environment and the views are gorgeous. They have igloos you can rent outside that are pretty cool in the winter. The food was delicious, i just wish it would have been hot. I wish there would have been a combo of steak and scallops but it was just steak or scallops as an option separately.

Disappointed in our steak dinner. Ordered the King Prime Rib (16oz) but half of it was fat/griz. I’ve had great experiences for lunch, so I was surprised by what I received. May want to consider other locales for a good steak for the money.

We really enjoy our dinners here. The wait staff are very friendly and willing to engage in meaningful friendly banter; you never feel like you are wasting their time. The management does a great job keeping things on track, and they also work full house. I like seeing management helping both kitchen and wait staff ensure the customers are getting the best experience possible. Our waitress named Rose was amazing and kept the conversation fun, and the meal at a good tempo between drinks, appetizers, and main. This is such a unique location too. It's a multi tier dining area with a special view right at the rivers edge.

Delicious dinner. Pappardelle pasta with white wine sauce no short ribs only because I don’t eat meat. So good. House made sourdough bread and gumbo. Jim took great care of us on our quick stop through wi getting our puppy from turbo retrievers in osh kosh !

This place is adorable! Although I went at a time when it was too cold to enjoy, the outdoor seating is creative and modern. I loved the variety of cocktails and wine, and the salmon crustini was delicious. It’s near a fine dining experience.

Probably my favorite fine dining location in the entire Fox Valley. Great atmosphere, great views of the water, amazing food, and the staff is super polite and professional. I have recommended Fratellos to people several times already and will continue to do so.

Ordered a kings cut 16oz sirloin, after 20 minutes waiter comes back to say sorry we run out of sirloins, look at menu but wanted some meat, waiter said we have a 10oz NY strip available not in menu, ordered one medium but came well done and tasteless
and salad was nothing good either. Bit pricy for food quality. Will come back? Probably never.

1/15/25…my first visit to Frontello’s…but it won’t be my last! Warm, inviting atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff (thanks Jake!) and delicious food. The location is unique.
