I have been into FYR a few times when I am in town and every experience has been great. The atmosphere is very inviting and the customer service is friendly and upbeat. The food is amazing and fresh. The flatbread pizza and ribs are very tasty. The bacon wrapped dates with the bourbon peach bbq drizzle are an AMAZING appetizer. Can’t wait to go back when I am in town!

Went there a few days ago... was going to order 2 1/2 racks of ribs to go among other things. Was informed that we're not allowed to take ribs to go?

What if I ordered them to eat there, then took a bite and asked to take my food home? Would that of worked?

We left and went to a different restaurant in Sun Prarie. Will not be back here.

We had the “brisket say what” and the cheese on the pizza I could actually taste. We flew in from Georgia and it was a very well crafted pizza. Highly recommend trying it. None of the ingredients were over bearing.

It was our first time there and we were very happy with our experience. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. The pulled pork was very flavorful and moist. The brisket pizza was amazing! The staff is very friendly. We will definitely be back.

Listen, I don’t write a lot of reviews. Only when I’m impressed will I take the time.

I feel anyone is entitled to a bad day so I feel bad reviews are unnecessary but good reviews should be shouted from the rooftops.

All that being said, this place blew me away.

My family and I are from Nashville and have been spoiled with great BBQ all over the south. This place can hold their own with any one of those places down south. Coupled with an incredible vibe and friendly staff, you CANNOT beat this place.

BBQ is a craft that takes time and dedication and cannot be rushed or faked. My entire family raved about the quality and taste of the food. This is a RARE event. We’re kind of bbq snobs. I wish I would have taken pictures of the food to post. It looked (and tasted) perfect.

Being a small-town BBQ spot, be sure to get in early, as they will likely run out of popular items. Brisket was out tonight when we arrived, but such is life when it’s actually made fresh and in small batches. Can’t complain there. The ribs were so good with incredible flavor. The pulled pork was moist and tender. And the pizza, yes the PIZZA was amazing. Who thought you’d find a spot that could do both and do it well!?

If you find yourself in Waterloo on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday, check them out! You won’t regret it!

Being a small business owner in a close-knit community myself, I deeply understand the passion and dedication it takes to run a local establishment. Having dined at FYR BBQ twice, I can genuinely say their commitment and heart shine through in every bite. The flavors are rich and authentic, and the welcoming atmosphere makes each visit a wonderful experience.

Their use of locally sourced desserts adds a special touch. The banana cheesecake, in particular, was absolutely amazing – a perfect balance of creamy texture and delicious flavor. I wholeheartedly recommend FYR BBQ to anyone looking for a wonderful meal made with love and care.

FYR’s branding and menu are highly accomplished, synergistic and pricing sets the table for a highly exceptional, unique, and personalized experience. Our family was excited to support the new local small business from Messrs. Parker and Peters. We ordered different takeout items for each family member with the expectation of returning the following day for the menu items unavailable for takeout. Regretfully, my spouse was offended enough that she refused to return.
Mr. Peters was friendly and professional with taking our order. Pizza was the one item deemed “ok” by everyone but regretfully, the 12” “large” was far too small and otherwise insufficient to offer much value vs the ~$20 cost – plus “Takeout Fees” up to ~$1.00 per-item throughout the order.
Side orders were exceedingly small, generally ~1/3 to 1/2 a cup for $2.00-4.00 each. Try a spoonful of birthday cake icing with sprinkles and a bite of creamy Mac N Cheese and you’ve just had the FYR Mac N Cheese – interesting and it may become your new favorite. Coleslaw was very dry with no moisture in the container at all. Baked beans were comparable to any can from the grocery with no other discernable flavor. Cornbread was very small, about the size of a mini cupcake. Brisket sliders were left uneaten due to being mostly large chunks of fat vs meat ($12.00). Pulled pork ($22) was mostly uneaten due to being too tough, fatty and dry. The chicken salad was ok but very small, not much chicken and not sufficiently different from what may be made at home for far less than the nearly $20 cost.
We live in a highly divisive culture so it’s imperative that new businesses retain as many repeat customers as possible (customer acquisition vs retention costs). Employee attire without political/hate-group or other unprofessional symbolisms are a cost-effective way to ensure that employees are not “perceived” in any way as officially promoting business agendas which may conflict with opinions of customers, aka. income stream. Focus on core competencies.
Parking is not a significant issue for locals, but travelers may benefit from a sign (viewable from the street while driving by) directing them to overflow parking behind a municipal building across the street which is otherwise obscured.
I do hope to return some day and revise this review with the great progress that was made. FYR has the potential to offer a great value proposition, and I sincerely hope that the owners can engage a knowledgeable MBA with some culinary experience to review their business plan SWOT analysis and demographics to turn this small business into a viable, ongoing concern for Waterloo and the neighboring communities.

One of my favorite places to visit! The pizza is fantastic and the BBQ is the best I’ve had since I moved to Wisconsin from Texas 8 years ago. I go with my wife and son as often as we can! Try the pork belly bites are our favorite, don’t forget to throw in some smoked apple sauce on the side!

Fantastic food and excellent service! We ordered three pizzas for takeout and we loved each and every one. The friendly folks inside left a lasting impression with their service even though I only stopped in for takeout. You can really tell they don't skimp on the quality of their ingredients. They are a little pricier than your average pizza joint, but you get exactly what you pay for here and then some. We will be back!

I went here with my dad for lunch when I was back in town. Everything tasted great. We had the flat bread and then both of us got the brisket sliders.

They have a great soda and beer selection as well. Service could have been a bit faster but it wasn't due to lack of effort. There was one guy working the floor and running around doing his best to keep up. I'm sure that will improve as they get more help and some of the kinks ironed out. Give it a try and be patient! This is a great addition to a small town.

Our experience exceeded expectations. The owner was welcoming, and the restaurant was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the brisket pizza, which had a great balance of flavors—the crust was perfectly cooked, and the tender brisket paired wonderfully with the bourbon peach BBQ drizzle. The drink menu offered a selection of wines, bottled beers, and craft sodas. Additionally, the owner’s pottery art throughout the space added a unique touch. Great experience at FYR from start to finish!

Ryan, the owner engages with his customers and sincerely wants everyone who visits to leave satisfied and thoroughly enjoy his food. Well... The BBQ pork belly bites with a bourbon peach glaze were fantastic along with his made from scratch pulled pork pizza were definitely a hit!

As a new business owner, I would hope that people who visit FYR, reach out to Ryan or a manager to discuss a resolution, instead of writing a bad Google review when he is just starting out his business. Unlike some other places, Ryan takes feedback very seriously and wants his customers to come back and enjoy his restaurant/bar again and again.

At the end of the day, I would highly recommend you visit FYR and try some of Ryan's BBQ you won't be disappointed!

This place is gorgeous inside! My husband and I couldn't wait to try this place! Unfortunately, we can't review the food because we were never waited on. We weren't even acknowledged as we sat in a booth for 11 minutes. There was one man at the bar, another couple in a booth and another couple at a table. Service shouldn't have been a problem.
