The salsa and chips were really good. Salsa has a nice kick, queso was good. Nachos were real good and enough for multiple people. Rice with the burrito was bland but the burrito was so good. Best Mexican food in Madison. I'm from Phoenix, which has truly great mexican food. I've tried many madison area restaurants and this is THE BEST one!! My family has been eating here almost weekly for a couple years and we love it. The food is of the highest quality - always freshest meats and crisp, clean veggies. They do not use "cheap" ingredients and it shows. The atmosphere is great - beautiful building and festive decorations. The service is wonderful and attentive. Garibaldi's is our favorite Mexican restaurant in Madison, and we dine there at least once a month. The food is delicious and the portions generous. We recommend the Guacamole de la Casa, the Nachos Fiesta, and the Mexican Burrito with Ground Beef. Drinks? My husband loves the Spicy Cucumber Mamacita, and I enjoy the House Margarita. The service is impressive. Emiliano always makes us feel welcome and is helpful and attentive. We love the music. Okay, this is an awesome hidden gem. Madison has a handful of pretty good Mexican places, but none with flavor like this (at a price that is wildly reasonable for the area). The margaritas are a must, and I'd highly highly recommend the enchiladas verdes. The verde house sauce is perfectly spicy.

With all the 5 ratings and such a high overall average, i was expecting WAY more. Admittedly, my friend and i had a reservation cancellation at another Mexican restaurant due to a maintenance issue so this was the next option as neither of us had visited. For a 6:00PM on a Saturday, it was less than half full and it still took awhile to get drink orders. I’ll give solid marks for the chips, salsa, and guac. I think i would’ve appreciated more vegetarian options outside of the ONE menu item. My friend fortunately enjoyed his meal which is why i wouldn’t go below an average mark. That said, one of the first places in Madison i can honestly say i wouldn’t give a second chance to.

I can't really recommend Garibaldi. Our experience was just not very impressive. The chips and salsa were good and a welcome bonus. I asked for one Combo lunch and received a different one. The waiter was very nice and took it back, replacing it with the one I'd ordered. The red sauce added nothing, my first bite of rice was crunchy (the rest weren't) and my shredded chicken had WAY too much salt. The charge we received for a side of guacamole was much more than the lunch menu indicated it would be, but the waiter did make an adjustment when we pointed it out. Lastly, the urinal in the men's room was appparently not working, because it had a lot of blue tape across the front of it. Not high quality.

I stopped here on a whim between 2 and 3 midweek. The restaurant was empty; parking but I just parked a block away on Hancock street.

There was a younger man working there and lady at the bar. There were 2 levels inside so I can hosting events here. I felt the atmosphere and food were the best in Madison if in the mood for some tacos. The sauce is pretty hot that comes with it (unique mix they have; I'm nor sure what's in it hut orange colored). I orders the tacos a'la cart woth some grapefruit soda.

It meats had unique flavor profiles that O think is the best in Madison and perhaps best I have ever had. I had 2 other Taco places on other days during the week ordering tacos as well and this place rules the roost.

Decent food. Poor service. My girlfriend and I visited on Valentines Day night. We had booked a reservation online but it was not listed in their book when we arrived. It wasn't very busy at all so we were able to get a table right away, after the hostess/server cleared the table. We weren't offered chips & salsa until after ordering but we just chalked it up to having just cleared the table. We weren't ever offered water. Also not a huge deal, just seemed like basic things every restaurant or Mexican restaurant does. We ordered a couple cocktails. They took a while to make as this was another task for the same person, now a hostess/server/mixologist. The Pina colada didn't seem to have any alcohol in it. The purple dragon seemed to be ok though. We gave our food order and I specifically asked if all of the burrito Mexican had beans in it or was that just a choice like chicken & beef were. She said beans come in both with the chicken & beef. I ordered 1 chicken & 1 beef and said I do want beans also in both. She nodded and assured me that would happen. It did not. Neither burrito had beans. The red sauce was good & had a bit of spiciness. The chicken one was ok and the beef one was pretty bland. My gf had tacos vaqueros (steak). She didn't like them so I had 2 of the 3 next day warmed up for lunch. I thought they were just ok. The hot sauce was nice. Pretty spicy. Can't really judge the freshness a day later though. We ordered the chimi cheesecake dessert (which was pretty tasty) from a different server who came to check on us. It took a long time and the original server had come back and asked if we wanted the check. We said sure. She took 10 minutes to bring the check. Server #2 finally brought the dessert and apologized for the delay, gave a discount, and took our card for the check. He got distracted by a large group of ladies and took their pictures for them and finally brought the credit card back. It was our first time there and with so many other options we would probably not try the place again.
Also, the Mexican music was nice for atmosphere, however it kept cutting in & out for a few songs. The decor was sparse compared to other Mexican restaurants I've been to. There were 4 or 5 tv's playing a college basketball game and at least 3 were delayed a couple seconds from each other so it was kind of distracting & off-putting for me. Might not bother others though, so I definitely didn't factor that into my score.

I stopped in here on a whim after work around 4pm on a Saturday. There was only one other table besides myself, but I have to assume that it was only because of the time. I ate at the bar and was helped by a very sweet server. Chips and salsa were fresh, and the salsa had a bit of a kick but nothing too spicy. For my entree I had the chiles rellenos, and they were absolutely stunning and mouth watering. The chiles were very generously stuffed with tender chunks of pork and cheese and drowned in a flavorful red sauce. I asked for no beans as I don't love the texture, so the cooks gave me an extra large helping of their fluffy and savory rice. Don't skip one of their margaritas, I had the house on the rocks which was the perfect compliment to my meal. Prices were very reasonable, especially for the quality and quantity of food received! I can't wait to go back and try their other specialties.

I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience here. From the cool and colorful dec, to the kind and helpful service to the quality of the fare, everything was super tasty! I ordered three tacos ala cart: one steak, one chorizo and one El Pastor with soft shell corn tortillas. Wow, were the tortillas good. The chorizo had exceptional flavor and the steak taco was a close second. I imbibed on an excellent mezcal margarita, using Montelobos Mezcal. The guacamole, while simple to make, was also yummy. I never knew about this place until a friend took me here. I ordered the house fajitas and was surprised that they come with 4 different meats. I first discovered this place a couple years back on a solo trip. Today I brought my family along as the choice for my birthday.

Burrito Badger lived up to the pulling of an eating muscle again. My wife had the chicken taco on corn tortillas. She said the place was “super cute” and would come back…she doesn’t say that unless she means it, which is a win for me. My son who is pretty finicky put away three hard shell tacos.

I've been looking for awesome Mexican food since I moved to Wisconsin 10 years ago. I've found good Text Mex, but not Mexican. Friends, I have found THE place here at Garibaldi. In the photo is Molcajete. The spices are incredible. Cut everything up and make sure you dig into the bottom of the bowl and shed a little tear of joy. Spicy marg was fresh, no pre made mixers here. The mezcal margaritas was perfection, guacamole fresh with nice touch of lime.. needed the Roasted jalapeno i ordered to boost its heat Tender beef fajita. It was my 1st time trying a shrimp chimichanga but it will definitely not be my last.
