We have been regular guests here for many years and we always look forward to returning. What an inviting place! Great bar & restaurant and a friendly staff. The rooms are very clean and charming. I don't understand the occasional bad reviews. I just have a hard time believing most of them, some of which seem totally out of character for the Garmish Inn that I am familiar with. This place clearly deserves all of the four star and five star reviews it consistently receives!

We were here once and it seemed like a nice bar/restaurant. However, our gay friends frequented Garmisch and they would not serve them. They ignored them when they walked in and seated themselves, and after they asked for help, they ignored them. I one hundred percent believe that this was homophobic discrimination on their part. I would never go to this place and support that kind of hatred. Wish I could give them zero stars.

Review is for the restaurant. A lovely old resort with loads of quaint character. We went for my partners bday. They may have been a bit understaffed but the wait staff continually checked in and let us know they would be with us. The food was great. Perfectly seasoned and cooked ribeye with fresh mushrooms (not button). Yummy soup and salad. The cocktails were good. Ben our server was friendly, efficient and attentive while being busy. We left and had forgotten our food box and birthday card, both Ben and his colleague ran out to the parking lot to find us. So kind.

Worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Can’t rate the food because we were never even given menus. We were seated 30 minutes after our reservation, and then sat at our table 20 minutes before I went to ask the host if he could send a waiter. Then another 10 minutes and still no one came. So we left. I will never go back, and would encourage anyone looking for a reliable place for dinner to look elsewhere.

Our family spent our vacation at Garmisch this year for the first time. We loved it! The cabin was exceptionally clean. Every staff member we encountered was very kind and helpful. The food at the restaurant was delicious- especially the German dishes. Bartenders were friendly. There wasn't anything that we didn't like about the resort.

I can only rate the restaurant but I'm a fan. Most of the lake's shoreline is at lake level so Garmisch boasts the best views in the area as it sits on a bit of a bluff. That paired with the loaded Bloody Mary and the solid bar food make for a great family sit down meal. This place is a must-hit if you're spending a week on the lake.

Have been to the bar several times over the last 17 years. Really disappointed in the quality of food ordered today. Both our sandwhiches were inedible, we tossed them out. The "reuben" was poor quality "ham" and the chicken was rubbery and had a very odd breading. Paid $40 and it wasn't worth it. Not sure why the quality has gone so down hill. Love the place, but unfortunately, we won't make the trip back due to the bad food.

The cabins and facility is nice. The bar is not friendly and welcoming to everyone. The owner apparently has a problem serving Spotted Cow because he doesn't like their politics. This is freaking Wisconsin! Not serving Spotted Cow is like not serving fried cheese curds. To top it off, he doesn't serve Bud Light because apparently he doesn't think LGBT people should exist. And lastly, they advertise a LGB burger.
I will spend my money someplace not stuck in the 50's.

We went here for dinner and it was wonderful! I had the ribeye special and ordered it medium rare. The inside was perfect, and the outside had a crust that was absolutely amazing. Honestly, it was the best steak I've had in quite a while. My wife had the walleye and it was also excellent. My daughter loved the german chocolate cake. We didn't stay at the resort...just ate at the restaurant. The restaurant was not adequately staffed. Our table wasn't ready and it took about 10 minutes before anyone actually stopped at the desk to check us in. Once we were seated though things went better. Our waiter did a great job despite the fact that there were only two wait staff for the room. The food all came out together and was hot and very good. I am disappointed that they charge for the relish tray that most supper clubs provide for free. You cannot beat the ambiance of this location though. The sun sets over Lake Namakagen and the view out the large windows is fantastic. The lodge and restaurant are classic Northwoods with an awesome public area in the lodge. Prices are pretty high but an annual or semi-annual visit during vacation is always a treat.

We ate at the bar on a BUSY Saturday evening, Johna was our server and even though she was running her feet off, she still managed to make conversation with us and provided excellent service! On her recommendation we had the prime sandwich and added pepper jack, mushrooms and onions and it was SO good! Fries were excellent as well. We will definitely be back!

This is an absolutely beautiful resort in Wisconsin's Northwoods. The restaurant is five star. In our party we had filet mignon, coconut shrimp, shrimp scampi and some German dishes. They were all outstanding and the service was excellent. We met the owner Dennis who is very nice and does a great job of overseeing the operations there. Our granddaughter pulled a 48 and a half inch Muskie out of lake Namakagon, the fishing here is second to none.

Nice, quiet place when we were there in October. Buildings are quirky and whimsical. Lots of wood chainsaw statuary. And the view of the lake was awesome!
The staff in all of the areas were wonderful and went out of their way to accommodate us.
We were disappointed that the supper club was not open during our stay (one of the reasons we decided to visit), but the bar/grill made up for that! We had the best old-fashions we ever tasted!! We both had a burger that was delicious, moist, and prepared just as we asked. Our fries and onion rings were also really tasty.

We had only two minor complaints. There isn't any cell service (we should have expected that in the remote location), and the water in the room had a heavy smell of sulfur. We always travel with gallon jugs of water, so that wasn't that big of an issue. But the beds were comfy and the room and bathroom were very clean.
We will be back when the dining room is open for sure!
One more note- this looks like a great place to bring your family. Lots to do right at there and accommodations for larger groups.

First time there for breakfast. We arrived and there was a wait. While waiting we realized there were only two waiters that were also bartending on a as needed basis. The two waiters were all over the place and keeping up with what they had to do. They dat us as soon as they could. We watched them interact with all the customers. These fine young hard working men did the owner proud. They appologized for the waits and took care of everyone equally. Because of these two men it was a very enjoyable breakfast and we will definitely be back. The food was as great as the service.

When I was in Wisconsin to visit my mom recently we went here for a nice dinner. It is a place they frequent with guests when they have visitors. It is a upscale restaurant with a gorgeous view of the lake. I had a steak and a baked potato and both were delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the service was great too. A few of us ordered mixed drinks and they were great as well. Whenever we go to visit we will be back for sure. I did not stay overnight but the entire property is really cool and looks a great place to stay.

What an amazing place! We've lived here for years, but never visited. Beautiful German styled lodges and restaurant/bar. The only reason I give this establishment two stars is the classic up north atmosphere. Service was fine. Food was horrible. We all had the German breaded schnitzel. I have heard about the Garmisch restaurant for years. I always question negative reviews, because people can be negative by nature, or they were in a bad mood and take it out on a restaurant. I want to make it clear, that wasn't the case. I was SO DISAPPOINTED! I was expecting the most awesome meal, authentic German food, and what I and others had at the table was mediocre. I am not an expert of German food, but even compared to any food, in any restaurant around the area, this was not great. I had the veal cutlets, Jaeger Schnitzel, and because I am truly allergic to gluten, corn and soy, I had to have it without breading or the sauce. They were overcooked and had the consistency of well done pork. The fried chicken was so sticky, my friend could pick up her fork without gripping it, (means the oil wasn't hot enough when the dipped the chicken or put too much in at a time). My husband got the Jaeger Schnitzel, same as me, but the normal way, and he said it was like country fried steak with gravy. That wasn't Authentic Germán food at all, and if it had at least been GOOD food I wouldn't have bothered writing this review. The waitress was not nice, service was okay, but they were less than accommodating for me and my best friend, snice we both have gluten allergies. I have worked in every part of the food industry, and always give the workers and the restaurant the benefit of the doubt, but this was so beyond disappointing, I know I won't go back. The only good part of the evening were the people we were with and the beautiful view of the lake.

One of the absolutely most iconic places in the north woods. You need to stay here at least once and you'll fall in love. They were extremely accommodating for me and my better half to come up during the off season.

I got a Lodge Room and I swear it's one of four king size mattresses in all of Northern Wisconsin. I got to say it was pretty firm too. Showers got pretty hot too.

The Bar was open so we had the fish fry. Can't say anything bad about it with such a great view while you eat. I'll be back for the Musky Tournament in the fall.

We have stayed at the Bug two years in a row. The worst part of this place is the septic smell in the lower level where I slept. We alerted them to the smell last year and it was a problem again this year.

Upper level kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom are nice. Also appreciate the fireplace and comfortable couches.

The property is amazing. Beautiful lake views and buildings. Service is excellent at the restaurant, but the food is fair and overpriced. We will be back if the smell is fixed!

This place is so beautiful! The staff were so welcoming and the owner is socially involved with all the guests. The room was wonderful and the lake view was spectacular. The ONLY reason for the 3 star rating was the water quality. The table water in the dinning room had a terrible odor and worst taste. The water in the room was the same so we used bottle water to brush our teeth and left a day early to get home for a refreshing shower. Would love to go back if the water quality was better.

Stopped by on 9-30-22 for a fish fry on a family vacation to the area. With such great reviews, we had high expectations.

We were seated quickly without reservations and despite there being quite a crowd. That all seemed good.

It was a while before a waitress came by the table to take our order. While taking our order, she excused herself to deliver someone elses order.

When she did come back, we ordered the fish special. We waited nearly a half hour for the order. When it arrived the fish and potato skins were cold. The potato skins were also burned so they must have been sitting for a while. Had a beer and a brandy old fashioned at our table that were excellent!

The service and food left a lot to be desired this night. Wait staff is an issue everywhere these days but the crowd should be no surprise to an establishment with such a great reputation. Disappointing service and food for us.

Go directly there do not pass go do not collect $200 get to this historic location for a view of the lake that is impeccable. We had lunch there the bartender Greg was perfect if not better than anyone ever. A patty melt a smoked brisket and the garmish deluxe was our selection and we couldn't have picked three better entrees.

We ordered Friday Fish to go. All was on time, fish very tasty. However we didn’t get any coleslaw, and portions of fish and fries were wanting. Very disappointing from past experiences.
