Could not get service to save my life. Place wasn’t even packed. Had to go to the bar to order drinks and then to ask for a menu. Was told a server would come but they never did. Waited for about an hour. Went to the bar again to place an order and was told they had to check to see if the kitchen was still open. Waited yet again to hear then ended up leaving. Very disappointing, will not be back. Used to be such a great place. Oh- for an alcoholic drink and two kid sodas was $22. No thanks.

First time here and we enjoyed it. The night we went it was very slow. We had 3 adults and 3 kids. Waitress was was good. I got the Prime Island sandwich with the shaved prime rib and onion sails (petals) in the side ($15). I really enjoyed it. I felt my meal was worth the price, but another person at my table got the nightly special which was pasta. It was a good tasty dish, but very small portion for the cost. Overall, I would try this place again if I was in area.

The new Tiki bar is nice but the webcam needs to be repositioned a bit to the west for us to see more of the patio.

Read the silly response by the owner. I asked to reposition the camera so that we could see the nice new bar. His/her response is that the view from the bar is great. The answer is not responsive. The view from the bar is not the same as the view of the bar. Odd?

3 of us ordered "pink" for our hamburgers all were well done. Had to ask for plates when we ordered cheese curds and onion sails for the 4 of us. Asked for dip sauce ranch and got some type of horseradish. Received "side" salad which was a good head of lettuce with 3 cherry tomatoes and really small dressing cup. A Fantastic Memorial Day Lunch at Gilligan's in Chetek!

My wife, daughter, and I had a truly delightful Memorial Day lunch at Gilligan's in Chetek, WI, and we couldn't have been more impressed. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was inviting and vibrant. The fun decor immediately caught our eye, creating a lively backdrop that felt just right for a family outing. We appreciated how comfortable and welcoming it felt, allowing us to relax and enjoy the music and ambiance without feeling out of place with our daughter.

We kicked off our meal with the alligator bites, which were a delicious and adventurous start to our lunch. For our main courses, my wife raved about her garlic Parmesan salmon, perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. I opted for the classic lake perch, and it certainly didn't disappoint – fresh, flaky, and wonderfully prepared. Our daughter was happy with her quesadilla, a perfect kid-friendly option.
Throughout our meal, our server was absolutely fantastic. They were incredibly friendly and attentive, following up regularly without being intrusive. Their excellent service definitely enhanced our dining experience, making us feel well-cared for.

To cap off our delicious lunch, we indulged in the key lime pie for dessert, and it was simply divine – a perfect balance of tart and sweet, and a truly satisfying end to our meal.

Overall, Gilligan's provided a memorable Memorial Day experience. The combination of delicious food, a great atmosphere, and excellent service made for a perfect family lunch. We highly recommend Gilligan's to anyone looking for a wonderful dining experience in Chetek!

Came in for dinner cause I have a friend who works here and let me tell you it was amazing. From the second we walked in the atmosphere was incredible. Our hostess sat us quickly and we had the sweetest most attentive server Brittany. She made sure we had everything we needed. The food, wow the words can't even describe how amazing it was. We got gator bites which my husband loved and the cheese curds melted in our mouth. The entrees too were cooked perfectly and so amazing. We eat quite a bit of bar food and normally I don't feel well after but this was well made and amazing. We even ate them as leftovers and sometimes left overs don't taste as well this food. Even cold and reheated AMAZING. I highly recommend coming here at least once I know we will for sure be back often!!

Our group of 6 came in around 3:30 on a Saturday afternoon after hours of ice fishing. Immediately seated, our waitress was attentive and took our orders. Other people and groups started funneling in after us and it was getting busy. While we waited for our food, we played some pool and had refills on our drinks. Our burgers and shrimp were amazing and our waitress was a rockstar. Loved the theme inside, plenty of waitstaff and felt well taken care of. Looking forward to visiting again!

I do not think the taps have been properly maintained since the current owners purchased the place. The bottled and canned beer it not properly chilled either. There was 7 of us who went there to have steaks. Well not 1 of us got the steak we ordered not 1. My sister and I sent ours back. My other sisters was so spicy hot she had to take it home and clean it up. Wouldn't you think they would ask you if you wanted that. Sorry, but I was very disappointed to pay $12 for a salad with our pizza. My son and I split a pizza and both wanted a salad so the salad bar was the only option. Really sub-par experience. We have dined here maybe two or three times a year, without notable issue in the past. Tonight the food was odd and served cold, by an obviously new, nervous, and grossly undertrained and under supervised waitress. I don't hold her primarily responsible. I think the fault here lies with ownership and management. We ordered drinks and sandwiches, and an app of cheese curds. After taking our order the waitress then delivered our appetizer and sandwiches together and asked if we needed anything else. We told her we hadn't received our drinks yet, and she apologized and dropped off one of the two rushing from the bar to the kitchen. We never saw her again until she came to clear our table, so we couldn't ask for the missing drink, tartar sauce for the fish, or ranch for cheese curds. We actually asked another server for them but didn't get them. As she cleared the table she noticed she hadn't brought the second drink. She said she'd remove it from the bill. She came back several minutes later apologizing that ONLY THE OWNER COULD ADJUST THE BILL, BUT THEY WEREN'T HERE TONIGHT (??!!) In short, I was presented with a bill including an item I had not received, with a "sorry, but I have to charge for it." This owner needs to do better. It is too late for us. Chetek has too many other good restaurants to do this again.

Gilligans is truly a great place. About to leave WI for the year after my grandfather, brother, and I ate here everyday for the whole week! The place is beyond creative and fun and the staff is amazing. Lexi and Jennifer stuck out especially to us as they were the most welcoming and helpful when it came to their services. We also were Jennifer’s first table ever and she was so sweet and willing to get anything answered for us. The overall staff is always so sweet and the food is great as well. Gilligans also has games, a bar, bathrooms, as well as indoor and outdoor dining! You can’t get much better than Gilligans. I can’t wait to come back next year and hopefully see some familiar faces. :)

This place has been hit or miss over the years, but this year was the biggest miss yet. We were excited as the menu was finally more than just fried food, and had some exciting options.
We were told we could order dinner, but it would be a 45 minute wait for the food. Fine. Waitress came to take the order, and said it would be an hour. Okay. Ordered anyways. Two in our party had ordered the all you can eat wings, and were told after about 30 minutes that they were canceling that and they were going to have to pay full price for a single order. Weird, but okay. An hour goes by, and no sign of food. After 1:15 I checked with the hostesses. They told me they would look for the food and get back to me. They came back, and said some food was ready, some wasn't. Considering we had small kids with us, I asked if we could just have the food that was ready, and we'd wait for the rest (plus I had shrimp, and wouldn't want that sitting either if it was ready). They said the server would have to do that, fine. The server comes back, and says the food will be about 5 more minutes, and offered to put a rush on it. I said, a rush won't do any good; I work in a restaurant.. food is ready when it's ready, and that we'd been very understanding for well over an hour at that point, but we really had to feed the kids. She did not offer to bring our food that was claimed to be ready out, but instead added to the wait (now over 1:20). We didn't want to risk sitting any longer, not knowing if or when our food was ever coming, especially with 3 small kids needing dinner, so we canceled our order.
Really wish the server had been better at communicating (I assume they ran out of thawed chicken wings, then were waiting on frozen ones to be ready, though an explanation was never given). She should have let the two order something else, or at the very least, brought the kids' pizza out for them to eat while the adults waited for food. It was tough seeing all the tables around us order, get their food, and leave before our food was even close to ready.

I have been going to Gilligan's as long as it changed to Gilligan's and before when it was The Spot.
The owners have changed over the years many times.
The wings are great. We come up to Chetek and go to get the wings twice since we are here 2 weeks.
The issue I see is they added on for outside seating and other seating and the kitchen is the same size. This seems be the one of the issues. The service yesterday was very slow, we ordered the food and we had to ask at the front when will we get the food after one hour. Wings don't take that long especially when its wing night. The server was running from one side to the other side and outside. How can you service the customer and get the food? Other tables around us were complaining for the same reason. They were ordering other food items burgers, wraps ect. I see a lot of complaining about the service on the reviews and saw it first hand and even my experience.

Sunday stopped in for the first time. Took a little bit to get the drinks then ordered food. I have to say that they need to work on their cooking skills. Bang bang shrimp was merely batter deep fried shrimp with No sauce of any kind. The rice that came with my shrimp tacos was very wet sticky, not editable. I think with some tweaks it could be a go to spot. But for me, not at this point.

I recently dined at Gilligans and had an extremely disappointing experience. The food was subpar, to say the least. The chicken tenders were obviously store-bought frozen chicken and was disturbingly grey inside.

When we approached the owner to request a refund, not only was there a complete lack of professionalism, but we were also treated with utter disregard. We felt as though we had been robbed of our money.

The food was absolutely terrible. The fish had an overwhelmingly fishy taste, the sandwich was so soggy that the bun disintegrated, and the chicken tenders were gray inside and not even real tenders, just nuggets masquerading as tenders.

We took one bite of our food and found it completely inedible. Despite this, we were accused of eating it and told we had to pay for it. When we complained, explaining that we didn’t eat it and shouldn’t have to pay for inedible food, we were told that a manager or owner would be available the next day since no manager was present at that time—a situation that seemed absurd.

When we called back 24 hours later and finally spoke with the owner, she was extremely accusatory. After explaining that the food tasted terrible, she accused us of yelling. The treatment we received was utterly unacceptable. We’re not sure if this was a matter of racial discrimination for being black or just a terrible owner. We have never experienced anything like this in our lives.

I’ve never had an experience quite like this one. The ownership and management are appalling. We ordered one appetizer and four entrees. The appetizer wasn't great but edible, so we ate it along with the wings. The food seemed frozen, judging by its look and taste. The perch tacos were fishy, the chicken sandwich was soggy, the chicken tenders were just frozen nuggets with a gray interior, and the fries were undercooked.

After one bite of our entrees, we found them inedible and sent them back. However, the server informed us that we would still have to pay the full bill. When we asked for a manager, we were told none were present—a restaurant without a manager is unheard of. We were assured that the owner and manager would be available the next morning and we could call to request a refund. But when we called, we were once again told that there was no manager available.

I’ve encountered bad food at restaurants before, but this is the first time a place has refused to remove it from the bill. This was the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. Despite living nearby, we will certainly never return after this experience.

After calling we were told that we ate the food even though we had one bite. Upon explanation on why the food was bad we were told it looked fine. I wasn’t aware bad tasting fish had a look to it??? Sherry the owner was very rude and insisted that we were wrong even though all 4 of us there agreed.

The reason I give it a 1 ... My wife paid the bill with a debt card. Using a card they automatically tack on a 20 % tip. We always tip when we go out to eat. But when forced to tip is BULLCRAP!! As long as they have that stupid policy I WILL NEVER EAT AT THIS HOLE AGAIN!!!

In response to management they put a 20% on our receipt. We always pay 15%. Your worker put it at 20%. It should be up to the customer how much tip they want to pay. It shows up on the card receipt of 20%. Yes I agree that workers need tips to help them with their wages.

A year back I was at Gilligan's while I was visiting my family in WI - Who I only get to see and spend time with once a year- towards the end of our evening there were a group of people (who were not servers) surrounding my grandparents and I trying to tell us that I wasnt 21 and I shouldn't be drinking even though the servers had already ID'd me. It had gotten to the point where we had to leave due to the drama that had occurred. My entire family - mom, brother, and grandparents USED to loveee going to Gilligan's to have some family time, we used to go there all the time. Long story short, ever since last year it seems that Gilligan's has really gone down hill. The service is poor to the point where customers get ignored, and Gilligan's doesn't know how to cut customers off when they're getting out of line (and creepy). Gilligan's, you need to take some accountability for your service AND your customers. You let people come into YOUR business and You let these people get trashed and start these arguments when you're not paying attention to your customers, you're only focusing on your money. You definitely lost support from a distance, and I will spread the word to never go to Gilligan's because of their stuck up population and horrible bartenders. "Do you want to be treated like dirt? Go to Gilligan's." Gilligan's is no longer fun - it's only for people who think they're better than others. I'm not sorry and I hope your business gets sued for the way its been ran. Good food, if you receive the correct order or your poor service (wrong order) is remedied.
I am a local and have tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt, multiple times. Taste is great, but watch your receipts, they will over charge, sneak on extra charges, and it isn’t aligned with menu prices or the order you requested.
It’s too bad, the service sucks, because the food is genuinely tasty.

I’m honestly tired of trying to get what I order, each time I’m over charged menu items with clearly listed prices, by 4$… I haven’t recieved items and told seasoned fries are regular fries … it’s odd how simple orders are messed up and not remedied

Ordered 4 Gilly burgers. 2 we're totally wrong. They wanted American cheese not Swiss. Sent them back and they came back with No bacon and onions. Then they brought them the bacon and onions. Bacon undered cooked. Another person has prime rib and wasn't cooked way they wanted it. Did nothing to rectify the bill. Waitress said it was out their hands. No manager or owner around. We brought a group of 11 people charged a high tip gratity. Because we didn't call and reserve. They lost our business. We spent over $400 as a group

Food is excellent although the portions are definitely on the small side. However, everything was fresh and very tasty. The service was absolutely horrible, very childish servers who were very rude. Wanted to come back to try some more of the menu but honestly probably won’t be back, those young girls definitely need to at least not roll their eyes in front of customers.

Food & drink always OK but there were 4 people in the bar one early afternoon. Us and one other couple. The other couple saw us from across the room and waved. Later we got up to leave we a left a tip PLUS an extra $10 on the bar and instructed the bartender to get them a birthday drink. She pointed at them and said......them? I said yes and we left. Weeks later (when the couple never acknowledged our kind gesture), I asked them what they chose for a birthday drink. They had no idea what I was talking about. The bartender pocketed our generous tip and the $10 birthday drink money. I guess it was my fault for being so trusting of the bartender.

My friend raved about how good the chicken wings are at Gilligan's. I love a good wing and look forward to Wednesday evening. The problem is we sat and waited for a server for well over twenty minutes. We asked for a server, and no one came. Major failure on that end. The wings when we finally served were five-star good. No excuse for poor service!

The front of the building is deceiving of what a great establishment this is. Go around the side to the outdoor bar. Food and drink served there too. And the dock for lake customers to pull up to enjoy the atmosphere too. Great food and drink selection. Our bartender/server, Scott, was very personable. He was a local so had plenty of local activity suggestions.

Love the food at this restaurant and the activities they do there. Was a bit disappointed originally with a situation I had there; however the manager reached out and resolved it. That to me makes all the difference. The Owner/Manager reached out and explained what happened and resolved my issue. Highly recommend this place, not only for the food, entertainment and atmosphere, but also because they stand behind their word.

Gilligan’s is the first place on my mind on the yearly vacation up to Wisconsin. The tropical vibe makes for a very fun, chill evening. The food and drinks are superb, ESPECIALLY the gourmet cheese curds🤤 I also always enjoy the UV fish bowl drinks. I will never stop recommending this place🍹🌴

We had a group of 12 , service was crazy wait staff got everyones order wrong ( maybe write it down next time). The food was terrible nobody liked it. Deep fried perch was substituted for broiled cod ( the perch was like thin cardboard)
