I have gone here for years. Sadly, since they stopped serving sushi, this place has really gone downhill in food and service. The food quality and taste is what you'd get at a cheap Asian buffet, but with top dollar prices.

Ingredients were missing for items that I ordered, only to have to ask about it and find out that they had run out of (or didn't restock?) ingredients.

The one sushi appetizer left on the menu is gross -- they cook the fish, add fried bits and you can barely find tasteless "cream cheese" -- it's mushy and not sushi.

Staff appear to be mostly young adults who tried, but didn't really know the place and didn't check in to see what we needed. I felt sorry for our server who was put on a bind with the missing ingredients and could only apologize as there was no way to fix it.

The place itself is now dirty, cheap looking, and set with rather plain tables and chairs. There are no buffers between tables so you hear everything around you. Food was sent home in a brown paper bag like a grocery store, in cheap paper containers, despite the $80 price tag.

If you want cheap, bland Asian food, save your money and go to a buffet where the prices match the quality, and you get to taste everything.

Totally disappointed. This was the last time at GingeRootz for me. It is the end of an iconic era and a legend.

The ambiance was very nice though, soft music and open space. However when more people showed up, the sound bounced off the walls.

Very pleased with our recent visit. Ordered the Appleton roll, GR Chicken and Kapoon (not on printed menu yet but available by request). Hostess/bartender Jaquee was extremely helpful and very friendly and forthcoming with recommendations. Appleton roll was very tasty but would benefit from more salmon in the roll. GR Chicken was very good. The Kapoon was 5 star. It's like a curry/soup which is different but definitely worked. Would never have ordered it on my own but like trying different foods and Jaquee mentioned it several times so I gave it a go. I asked for spice level "3" (1-5) and it was perfect. Great taste, very bright and felt home cooked. Will definitely be back again.

I enjoyed a wonderful night out with my family. It's been a year or so since the last time I was here, and since we are a family that loves Asian food, we decided on GingerRoots. The food and service were excellent. Both my niece and I had the chicken lo mein, and my wife had the General Cho's chicken, my sister had the tofu shrimp pot, my father had the Aji tuna, and my other niece had the Mandarin chicken. We also had the calamari for our appetizer and both the chocolate and deep-fried cheesecake for dessert. We all look forward to returning.

I was there for my first time. The thai curry is not thai at all. It's indian curry flavor. Food was a little on the salty side. My dish did not come with the sauce I ordered.i know because I ordered another dish with the same sauce and it was totally different. Overall. I would not recommend. We whipped in on a major holiday and got a table right away. The staff was lovely and attentive. The chicken satay with peanut sauce was down our gullets in seconds. My son even used the lettuce garnish to scoop up the remaining sauce. His steak dish and my beef bulgogi went right down the hatch as well. The place was clean and upscale, and the location was handy, too. Glad our first choice was closed that day. Put your root down, and go to town.

This was the most tasteless chicken teriyaki over brown rice with no vegetables and a small amount of plain lettuce as a garnish on the side I have ever tasted. I tried using some soy sauce to give it some flavor but it did not help much. my wife tried the mixed vegetables over brown rice and again no flavor and the amount of vegetables was so small with only a tiny single sprig of asparagus. we will be looking for another venue in the future. Fantastic experience dining here with my book club. We had a terrific server, Gianna, who was very helpful, friendly and attentive. Service was prompt and the food was so good - something for everyone. I love to build a bowl with my favorites (udon noodles, tofu, veggies and a spicy Hunan sauce) - so good! The ginger tea is also very tasty.

My sister and I have been coming to GingeRootz for about the past five years and always order crystal shrimp. It is our ultimate favorite dining out pleasure. The flavor has always been consistent every time we go. Saturday, March 21, 2025 we went and the Crystal Shrimp dish was different. The shrimp sauce was lacking flavor, richness and less of it. The pork fried rice was lacking flavor also. We do hope the flavorings will return. Our last time there was fall of 2024.

I didn't want to post this review because I used to love this place but here we are. I think this place is under new management because everything is different. The service is horrible, the food is different and it's just not the place I used to love. They used to have fresh waunton chips for the table now they don't, they took away their sushi mini which used to be amazing. They always get my to go order wrong. I called last night for general tsos chicken and Chrystal shrimp but said 10 times I need to substitute shrimp for chicken because I'm allergic to shrimp and I said this over and over. They said they could substitute but I STILL got shrimp!!! Also my husbands general tsos was just some deep fried chicken piecss with some crappy sauce spashed ontop is wasn't toased or even tasted like the old general tsos chicen they used to have wkth broccoli. The place is so sloppy now 😩 I wish i could have the old ginger roots back honestly

A mistake qas made with my order today where I got someone else order. I get it. It happens all the time in a busy kitchen. No harm done I called and spoke with Summer who gave me a credit and personally remade my order. Very professional and helpful.

We don't eat here super often, but lately we have been enjoying the tofu Hot pot and the house fried rice. My favorite part of the house fried rice is the pineapple, so this last time I asked for extra pineapple as I often feel there are only a few pieces in the whole container of rice. There was an up charge to get extra pineapple which I felt was ridiculous for a few extra pieces of canned pineapple. But I really like the pineapple so I decided to treat myself and spend the extra. Of course, as I got home and ate the rice, I would still say there were only 6 to 8 pieces of pineapple in the whole container. So paying $$ for a container of 90% rice and then paying extra for three more pieces of pineapple felt really frustrating. They will probably stay on our once to twice a year restaurant list, but definitely won't be added to the monthly spots. I guess I'll have to keep a can of pineapple around to add the extra because I won't be paying extra again for a couple pieces of canned pineapple.

I ordered the Thai curry. This dish is nothing resembling Thai curry. It’s taste like brown sauce stir fry with some curry powder in it. Taste like a dish I would expect from a diner, not the Ginger Rootz I used to know. My partner ordered the Kong Pau trio and it was slightly better than my dish but still below expectations. I’m guessing we’re never coming back here. That is just too bad since this place has history and has been around for a while. I hope they revisit their menu and make an effort to make improvements. I know they will lose customers if they keep doing what they are doing now. The good part is this dinner is the atmosphere and the nice server who did a great job.

If you want quality, flavor, and your moneys worth I advise you go here. This is the best general tso’s chicken you can get. Not dark meat and all breading like most places, huge chunks of real white meat chicken, lightly battered and delicious. Don’t know if there’s a new owner… I’ve been going to this restaurant for years and this was not the good food I’d come to expect. My pad Thai was made with the wrong noodles, it is however much more flavorful than most Thai places around here. My sister ordered the chicken salad (I know… at an Asian restaurant), it was terrible. It was not spring mix as described, but a heaping portion of completely unseasoned chicken over a bed of iceberg lettuce and pink tomatoes. The waitress was nice and brought us spring rolls because the kitchen took a bit to prepare our food, but the spring rolls were worse than the salad!
