Not sure about all the hype. Stopped by because someone told me it was good. I guess it qualifies, until you've been to a deli. No pickles, no chicken parm, not really anything special, kind of generic. I ordered the turkey & artichoke on asiago roll no cucumbers. Not a complex sandwich. It came with SUPER sweet Italian dressing only, no other condiments, tomato, artichoke hearts, turkey and you guessed it..... cucumbers. I dislike the flavor and when they are put on something I can taste them. So... yeah. The asiago roll was decent, portions were lacking and the extra sweet Italian dressing I guess was supposed to be the Italian part. It tasted OK, so I left 3☆'s.

I had heard that Gino’s Italian Deli is a good place to get a decent old school Italian sub . I happened to be running errands in the neighborhood and I stopped in.

Quick service from the staff that did a good job . It a lot of people in the store but I was early for lunch .

Menu is straightforward and very basic no frills . I got the Italian roast beef sandwich and a bag of chips . Cannot complain it was good basic sandwich but not something unusual.

Will be back if I am ever in the neighborhood again .

Ignore the Karen that was crying about them not having potato salad in her review, this place is a great deli. The food is great, the people are nice, and the prices are reasonable. Just be warned - their giardiniera is HOT! Your lips will be burning. I had the hot Italian beef sandwich, and I will definitely be back again.

We ordered a small meatball sub and a large something else. Both were okay, but nothing stood out. The staff didn’t seem very friendly. The bread was a bit too soft and lacked the chewiness we were hoping for. The meatballs were just average, and the tomato sauce was fine. Unfortunately, we were charged for a large sub instead of the small size. Overall, it wasn’t a great experience, so we probably wouldn’t return.

This whole thing sounds stupid, but it's something that honestly irritated me. I used to live in Madison, but I don't anymore. I now live 2 hours away. But, while I was living in Madison, I grew to love this particular pasta salad that they offer here and every once in a while, I like to travel back to Madison to stock up, because typical grocery store pasta salads just don't do it for me. So, I strolled in today around 2 PM and noticed that this pasta salad was pretty much gone and I figured, well, if they have to make some more I can sit and wait. But when I asked about it, all they could do was shrug their shoulders and say, "Sorry, we don't have any more today. Maybe try tomorrow." But I live 2 hours away. I'm not driving the whole way back tomorrow just to see if you MIGHT have some. I mean, they have a kitchen back there! They could have easily made some more while I waited. Unless they buy it in bulk from some third party company. It made me feel like I have to, basically, call ahead and make reservations just for some pasta salad. And, I know they have quite a few other pasta salads available, but I didn't want any of those other ones. If the store reads these reviews, I would appreciate some direct feedback to see if we can figure out a solution.

Growing up Sicilian, this place is a glorified sandwich shop! Meat case had 1 link of Italian sausage, no hot no mild, had no clue how much it was, 2 loaves of bread, ZERO bakery, no rice balls, the pasta counter looked ok but over priced. Overpriced take home lasagna. Overpriced mozzarella. Shredded not even fresh. No basil anywhere! You want a sub sandwich I’m sure it’s fine. This is not an Italian Deli. Go to the South side or East of Milwaukee for the real deal.

I was in Gino’s today with my toddler who was kind of throwing a tantrum and just wanted out - he was being a bit much. We purchased a lasagna and garlic bread.

The girl at the counter was as sweet as can be. I would go back just because she was so nice to us. She calmed my kid down in 20 seconds and did it with a smile. She deserves all the kudos in the world.

Well this place has gone downhill. It used to be one of my favorites and I was in here all the time. I no longer recommend shopping here. Today I repeated myself multiple times and the guy still made my food incorrectly. But when I pointed this out to them they refused to remake it. Stopped in for the first time, ever. I've lived in Madison for the bulk of life and just never stopped in. Now I'm sincerely regretting it.

We ordered 3 sandwiches from the counter. 1 veggies add ham, 1 roast beef and 1 Italian beef. When I tell you these sandwiches came out in record time! The crew working was extremely fast and super nice for me being a first-timer.

Got the sandwiches home and we were delighted to find out that they were incredible. The veggie with ham was packed full and my wife enjoyed it immensely. My son had the roast beef and immediately said it was amazing. My Italian beef was delicious! Seasoned very well, with all the fixings and the au Jus was so tasty.

Whether you're new to Madison or a native like me, you should take every chance you get to fo to Gino's

Awesome veggie sub (as usual!) but I purchased a HALF POUND of shrimp salad. Realized after I paid it was almost a pound... and it cost $9.11!!! For some pasta, a few shrimp and too much dill! Plus, I brought my mom in for the first time for her only to have the place smell like old freezer ice and there were boxes of stock all stacked up against the wall and sparse shelves! Stopped by on my way home from work and grabbed a take-and-bake lasagna and some cheesecake slices. This is the best meal I’ve had in a long time! I got the small pan of lasagna and it is more than enough for 5 people! The cheesecake is the best I’ve had. Highly recommend this place! I’ll definitely be back!

Gino's is the best Italian deli in Madison! They have a good assortment of sandwiches made with top-notch ingredients, I love their spicy capicola, it has quite a kick to it. The large size sandwich is a little over $7.50, and well worth it.
But the best part of Gino's is their take and bake frozen lasagnas!! They come in various sizes with the largest being $45 for probably 8 to 10 servings of fantastic lasagna. Perfect for dinner parties, it's not even worth the effort of making my own lasagna anymore. They also have a vegetarian lasagna that is pretty good.
