Ate here back a few weeks ago. Fish fry was good and the waitress was awesome, but the Owner/bartender was a jerk. At 10 PM he took our drinks off the bar and poured them out, then stated "we are closed" and that we had to get out. Menu is limited. Place is for sale. Heard it used to be great, but now its clearly not. Won't be back.

Staff was devastated by COVID lockdowns. So if you have a large group, make sure to call in advance to help them plan. They also have a limited menu compared to precovid... Still my fave spot for taking sales clients for lunch as the portions are HUGE!

Very disappointed that their menu isn't what it used to be. No prime rub on Saturday which is what I was out for. But the waitress was awesome and didn't mind that I was going to go somewhere else. Definitely the worst fish fry I have ever tried. Ordered the seafood platter special last night. The fish was all dry. The shrimp was undercooked. The potato was microwaved. And over microwaved. Tarter sauce didn't taste like any tarter sauce I have ever had. Not in a good way. Almost like miracle whip with sugar added. Not one part of this meal was even close to respectable. I can't believe this place has any business. The cooks obviously don't care. We only came here after another place we tried was way too busy. First time customer and last time customer. I only write this in hopes of saving people money. Go elsewhere for a fish fry. Any other place but here.

The second star is only to give some benefit of the doubt because we went on a fairly busy Friday night during Lent, which Wisconsinites are crazy about (granted there was no wait). Without that consideration: 1) The waitress didn't want anything to do with us. 2) The perch tasted like it was fresh out of Sysco's freezer that morning. 3) The price seemed like it was swimming around in Lake Michigan that morning. But hey, at least the beer tasted good. The atmosphere seemed for the most part like a classic Wisconsin Supper Club, but little else seemed to match that.

We had a party in the back room with food. The meal was great, service was great-The girl bringing our drinks was great, she was a very hard worker. The only gripe I have is their men's restroom was not nice at all. Very undersized and in need of a major update, also not very clean. A nice clean restroom speaks volumes of an establishment. I used to come to Gippers once a week for lunch with either my daughter or friend. We stopped coming back in June due to the sudden poor customer service over the last few visits. We had always sat at the bar area and would be served by “Brandy”. This past week, my friend and I decided to give it another chance and stopped in for lunch & a cocktail. I had ordered a simple grilled chicken sandwich ONLY. $9.50, plus $1.00 for a slice of tomato and lettuce. A cup of soup (which was great). When the chicken sandwich arrived, I was extremely disappointed!!! The piece of chicken that was slapped on the bun was barely to be found. When I finally bit into the sandwich, the chicken was like LEATHER!! I attempted another bite, then tried using a knife. I finally gave up. When “Brandy” finally asked (from far across the bar area ) how everything was, I had to tell her from far across the bar (as she would not walk over) that the chicken was like leather! After an “eye roll”, she comes over to us & asks if I want a different sandwich. I replied no as it was already 20 minutes into our meal and we were ready to leave. When she brings the bill, the ridiculous $10.50 sandwich (only) is still on the bill!!! I make a comment about her charging me for a small leather piece of chicken, and again I get the “eye roll”, as she walks away and refigures the bill. When she brings back the new bell she explains that she’s ONLY charging me “HALF PRICE”! Complete joke! I then tell her that if she’s going to charge me a ridiculous half price for a piece of leather, she might as well put it in a to go container for my dog who will hopefully eat it! She gets a container and literally dumped my entire plate, INCLUDING the garbage on my plate into the container! Worst customer service ever!

My wife and I decided to treat ourselves on a Friday night and they got us seated pretty fast. They kept thinking we had a bar tab even thou we just walked in, I had a soda that somewhat tasted like one, I ordered a different flavor and still very weak. We both ordered fish plates and they were decent at best, the cod was dried out and tough, the coleslaw was pretty bad to. We have eaten here in the past and had good results but this wasn't good at all.

This is one of the best places on the west side if you want quick food that tastes good at a fair price... haters always hate... it takes allot to run a kitchen... they know what there doing ...
