Breakfast Skillet is delicious and filling. 0rder of 3 Monster Zero Sugar energy drinks was filled with 1 Monster Zero Sugar Ultra. Order was ready 10 minutes before original pickup time promised. Cellophane wrapped package with plastic fork, spoon and knife plus a paper napkin and 1 packet each of salt and pepper were included with the order without me having to ask.

I have wanted to visit this place for a very long time. Unfortunately i was largely disappointed. This place is not very health conscious. Everything in the menu is bacon, sausage, chorizo.
It’s also expansive if you ask ,e. Salads are $8.50/lb that is just wow, no unlimited! They. Barge for everything. To wrap it up the staff “looks friendly” but isn’t very friendly. Coffee was cold, hey didn’t have stevia. Just a not so good experience.

On a positive note the food was delicious. Atmosphere was not energetic at all very very quiet and sleepy.

The food came out within 10 minutes of ordering, which was remarkably fast. I ordered a Swiss and Mushroom Omelette. For a Wisconsin restaurant the Swiss was notably lacking. The mushrooms were slightly undercooked and the whole omelette itself was not seasoned. Dear restaurants, please season your food while you’re cooking it. The eggs were fine but tasted like they had been cooked really fast. It seems like they care more about efficiency than they do about quality.

I also had the wheat toast which was pretty decent. They give you for half pieces which is quite a lot and provide jelly and butter options.

The coffee is Collectivo coffee which is fine but the house coffee is more expensive than the to go because it’s bottomless. They should add a in house coffee option that’s just one cup and cheaper than the rest as an option to encourage people not to bug the to-go cups even when eating in house.

It’s a quick and easy American style breakfast place that could definitely use a lesson in seasoning and slowing down to make better food. I was the only person in the restaurant (as I went when they opened at 7) so they had no reason to rush the order.

The food is ok and you get very little portions but I will never go back as the owner or man who works there was extremely rude to me and unprofessional. (chicken/turkey) Sandwiches are okayish (6/10), fries felt really weird and too crisp (double fried i guess) maybe I am not used to it but the fries shouldn't be like that. The ambience and the vibe is really good and the location is right behind the Capitol. Prices are justified for the location and vibe food should be the least priority while coming here. I ordered a roast beef sandwich and a fried eggplant sandwich, both with fries, to go. The counter staff was friendly and the cook was fast and efficient. The food was delicious. The pickled onions on the eggplant were a welcome addition. The fries were a highlight, crisp and well seasoned.

I was surprised how good the food was, especially for the price. I ordered the veggie breakfast burrito and my boyfriend ordered the Mac. Both were very good. The burrito smelled really good when i cut into it.
The only thing that was weird is that it didn't say it came with a side and they gave me a sausage, with a veggie burrito.... lol so i gave it to my boyfriend but apparently that was very good as well.

Gooseberry's breakfast food is great--I recommend the skillet, if you're looking for something to try. The staff has always been friendly and I appreciate the ability of being able to call in an order ahead of time so it's ready to pick up when I'm running short on time. It's a little more expensive than some places, but the quality of the food and the convenience of it being located on the square makes it worth it in my opinion. I'll definitely be going back.

My out of town visitor demanded we go there because they loved that Mac and cheese so much the last time he was in town. He said he thought about it several times on his drive up. I think a previous reviewer confused Gooseberry with the restaurant formerly known as Cranberry Creek, which is at the opposite end of the building and recently changed management. Gooseberry has the best salad bar on the Square and everything is always fresh and delicious. They have a good selection of more interesting options like edamame salads in addition to the "standards". And taco bar once a week (Thursdays?) as well as fresh soups. Try the homebaked pastries; today they had homemade marshmallows!

If you're looking for a salad bar, this is the place to go - they have everything your typical salad bar will have (varieties of lettuce, veggies, and meats - a few vegan/vegetarian protein options: eggs, edamame, and chickpeas). However, if you want a huge salad, it could get a bit pricey.

They also have a variety of items for breakfast and lunch, like briskets and pasta. For being a cafe inside the US Bank building, the options are great!

So I was all excited to take my fiancé to late breakfast at Gooseberry today as she had never been there and I had. In the past I’ve had good experiences there. Today that was not the case. The cashier who helped us was pleasant and friendly. When we got our food it was extremely disappointing. I had the three cheese omelette. It was way too salty. My fiancé had pancakes and bacon. The pancakes were very bland and heavy. We weren’t impressed and went on our way. A few minutes later I realized I didn’t have my phone so I went back into the restaurant to see if I had left it there. When I approached the manager and asked her if I may have left it there. She was extremely rude and crabby with her response which was a very terse no! I was highly disappointed with the experience today and I won’t be returning any time soon.

After a couple of visits, the quality of the food at Gooseberry on the Square is not memorable enough to compel me to return. While I enjoyed medley of flavors in the chicken BBQ chili, the criminally under-salted chicken dumpling soup was devoid of flavor.

Like the chicken soup, my Philly Cheesesteak sandwich was severely under-salted. While I did appreciate the sear on the tasty oven roasted ribeye steak, the onions and peppers were under-cooked.

The corned beef on my Reuben sandwich suffered from the lack of time on the griddle and the quality of the bread was a disappointment.

The restaurant is bathed in natural light and provides a pleasant view of the Capitol Square.

I work nearby so visit often and it's very hit-or-miss. The large salad bar is always consistently good. But other than that it gets dicey. I've had a good sandwich (fries are usually good) but some meh sandwiches also. Some soups are good but I've recently had a cream of mushroom that tasted like it had gone off, and a "beef with barley" that had so much vinegar in it, it seemed like it was meant to cover something up. I threw it out after 2 bites. The breakfast burrito I had was about 50% raw onions. So my advice is sick to the salad bar.
