Sara did a great job and was a very attentive server. My prime rib dip and jus were excellent and so was the Manhattan. Only minor complaint was the fries didn’t seem fresh.

Very nice, almost elegant atmosphere. Birthday lunch for a 7 year old. He enjoyed his chicken tenders, the adults loved their choices also. Our server was patient and friendly.

Went on a Saturday night at 5:30 to the prime rib and seafood buffet. We were seated promptly and our server took our drink order and told us we could start at the buffet as soon as we were ready. As we walked toward the buffet, my heart sank. Talk about tiny! Over cooked food and very few choices. Here was the list of items available to us: mini corn dogs, chicken nuggets, bread, cheese and crackers, shrimp cocktail, cole slaw, broccoli salad, potato salad, lettuce and mixed greens with traditional salad toppings, broccolini, potatoes, dry sirloin steak, and cajun shrimp with pasta. The prime rib station was manned and it was ok, but not very warm. The dessert station had not one edible dessert. There was no soup on the buffet and the bread was rock hard. Seafood buffet with only 2 shrimp items! $17 for an old fashion and $3.25 for ice tea (no free refills). This is a disappointing rip off!

Appetizers were good.. Food was average. Waitress was pleasant. Like many other reviews stated everybody left their coats on while dining. The restaurant was clean, and there were no issues there but pricing was quite high for basic food items. We did not eat from the buffet, we ordered from the menu. I would give it a second chance before I condemn them.

A complete fail. Restaurant was cold, out of apple juice and out of Tuna appetizer. We told the server about the temperature he sais as soon as they stop opening the door it will get better it never did. We asked if we could get the tuna appetizer from one if their other restaurants they said no. The server said the best way to gwt food is the buffet because the kitchen was taking forever. We asked to see a manager. Carl Lawrenze cane over said the kitchen was preparing the tuna appitizer for us. We asked to move tables we were told there was one in the front and we could move, so we did. We ordered buffet fot a 6 and 10 year old babies were no charge. The buffet food was equivalent to bad hospital food. Our steaks came out in about 15 minutes it was cold, over cooked (mw when we ordered mr) , the french fries were cold and the butter carrots consisted of 3 baby carrots. We sent back the steak entrees. The manager returned saying wow this has just been a horrible experience tonight. He took the steak meals we did not eat off the bill and brought back a bill for $85. 3 kiddie cocktails, 2 kids buffet, and 2 cocktails. He then gave us his card and said to ask for him next time we come back? We all left hungry and crabby the manager did nothing for us, he did not even buy us a cocktail and he thinks we are going back

Terrible! Was here last night with my family and the food was very cold and had no flavor. It was very disappointing. The buffet is located next to doors that lead to the outside so when getting the food you are freezing bc of people going in and out the doors.
The server never brought me a refill despite asking several times and when I asked for a manager he never came to our table, my husband was over it so he paid and we left.
I do not recommend the buffet 😒

We had the buffet and the whole experience was absolutely ridiculous. We were sitting down for over 20 minutes before we just decided to go get our buffet food. We found several hairs in various food items. We looked around to tell someone but the staff basically ignored us. Finally 1/2 way through our first plates of food a server comes over & I tell her about the food. She states she'd "let someone know" we finally get our drink order in and we were almost completely done eating at the buffet by the time we got our drinks! We also had to eat with our coats on as it was freezing cold in the restaurant. Almost $400 later we left pretty dissatisfied.

Been to this restaurant for their buffet.Food was very mediocre.Golden Corral blows this restaurant away on taste and quality. The waitress poured water in my cup and it spilled on me.The funny thing is,she walked away with a laugh and didn't have the decency to apologize for her ignorance.
I personally called her over to clean up the spill.
You'd think with years of negative reviews they would get their act together, but they think it's ok to serve disgusting food at their buffet. How did this restaurant become part of this resort baffles me.

We were guests at the hotel for my birthday. Went out for a fish fry on Friday. My food come out cold and they forgot my wife's order so I had to eat cold food while I waited for my wife's to come out. Was the worst fish fry I have ever had. The fish looked like boxed fish from Walmart and tasted horrible. The potato pancakes were over cooked and dry. The Cole slaw was almost unedible. I say almost cause I spent 28 a plate so needed to eat it. Would not recommend it.

Went during their Thanksgiving Buffet, the heat plates seemed to not be working underneath anything other than the Mac and cheese in the kids area and the desert dish that was on a heat plate. Food at the buffet was lukewarm to room temp.
....
Server Liz was great and attentive, even going out of the way to obtain rolls for one of the guests at the table.
The meat carver was trying his best with what he had, but it was a bit awkward watching him struggle with the fat on the Prime Rib.
.....
Overall, it was a great location right inside the main entrance. Grand Geneva, where the cafe is located, is all decorated for the season, and it looks great! However, the loud drunks were not a great part of the mood.
....
Including the gratuity, the bill came out to around $76 per person. I'd highly recommend finding elsewhere and save money in Lake Geneva if you want decent food. If you want good service and atmosphere just stay at the resort...

We went for the buffet, that was annoubced as "seafood and prime rib buffet". But what we found was just deception. Poor food, just old shrimp and clams, no prime ribs, just old NY Strips. Also a very dispointing lack of personnel, just one waitress (she really did an extreme effort but was, obviously too much for her) no food reposition, so, if you want to get a buffet, go to a chinese one, you'll get more food and more variety.

Desepcionante realmente!
No recomiendo para NADA esta opción.

We have stopped at this place for a quick bite on our way to the lake. it is part of Grahn Geneva resort. The café is pretty clean and nice. The server was friendly.
I really enjoyed my fried chicken sandwich, with crispy and tender. The fries were fantastic. We also ordered grilled chicken which was also tasty. Key lime pie was a beautifully decorated and delicious. The coffee is all served by Starbucks.
I will definitely come back for the resort to enjoy the rest of the facilities and definitely coming back to this café.

Worst buffet I've ever been to considering the choices and the quality underexceeds the hefty price. They shouldn't even use the phrase surf and turf as only seafood they had was mussels, shrimps and under seasoned grilled fish. Prime rib was over cooked and also under seasoned. The desert choices were very poor. We wanted to try other restaurants in this hotel, but that is not going to happen.

Outstanding service; horrible food. My wife and I were there for the prime rib and seafood buffet. The tldr is that the food was tasteless. The prime rib was rare to medium rare--we had to send our slices back to get cooked--and even then, no taste, despite how much salt and au jus we applied. The only seafood was cod and the pre-packaged refrigerated cocktail shrimp. We were expecting at least some crab or perhaps better types of fish for the price we paid, not the cheapest offering possible. The side dishes were mediocre at best. I ended up eating generous portions of salad (because it's hard to screw that up) and chicken fingers and bbq sauce. For $50/person, that's hardly what I'd expect for "fine dining". If this is what we had wanted, we could have gone to the local fast food joint. At any rate, this experience reinforces our conviction that restaurants inside 4-star hotels are usually garbage. This one sure was.

This place has gone downhill in recent years. We had a small party of 8 meet for a lunch the day after Christmas. It wasn't even busy (11:30am), but the wait staff was so slow. They served us drinks, took our order, and then honestly didn't see them again for 30-40 minutes. All drinks were empty at this point. Food came out and it was not even warm. So here we are, eating cold food with nothing to drink. My son and I ordered the kickin' chicken sandwich ($16 each) and it was the smallest, thinnest piece of chicken ever. It was a joke. Could not believe how bad this experience was. We usually come here for a family lunch after Christmas, but they need to get things fixed before we come back. We love Grand Geneva which is why this is disappointing enough for me to leave a review so the management sees it and fixes something.

My family just left the Grand Cafe's seafood and prime rib buffet. We were so very disappointed. The price was exorbitant which had to be paid for in advance. The food was inferior and awful. The lack of seafood was embarrassing and so misrepresented. How could anyone charge those prices and serve food that was so below mediocre? The desserts were equally as terrible and tasted even worse. We are not a hard family to please in any way, shape, or form. We are a lovely, hardworking group who saved our money for months to share in this supposed epicurean event. What a huge letdown and a complete waste of money. I left the service star untouched because I did not want to increase my one star rating. The service was impeccable; our waiter was wonderful. We are Lake Geneva residents, and we will never be back. I will also let all of my friends and neighbors know they should never fall for your false advertising.

Omg...Where do I start lol
Service was SLOoooooW!!!
We were seated by the host rather quickly but took the sever about 20min to stop by to ask us what we wanted. The table next to us who came after us, their waitress already took their order as we look at them lol
As soon as we ordered I would say the food came rather quickly. The steak as most restaurant unable to cook the steak that we ask for but oh well....Other than that our food was better than average
Originally, I wanted to order their prime rib plus seafood buffet as iam staving lol. After looking at the buffet menu it looks just ok so I took a visit to the buffet bar, cannot even find any seafood lol nope NOT even a small shrimps lol. So much for calling it seafood buffet lol
Yes a prime rib seafood buffet that will cost us $59 LOL
Thought-out the dinner our server never came back, we had to wave down a bus boy to get more water lol and again for our check!
All, while the table next to us who have a different server was very very good....
I believe our waitress came by a total of four time. Gave us water, took our order, gave us food and gave us the bill LOL
Ps please feel free to check out their prime rib seafood buffet menu haha

This review is for the Grand Cafe. My family and I went for a Sunday brunch buffet. When we arrived, the restaurant was mostly empty however we were told the wait would be 45 minutes to an hour which would carry us into lunch. We sat down around 10:30 and the buffet ended at 11:30 which should've given us plenty of time to receive plentiful hot servings. Unfortunately we were met with mediocre mostly cold and limited selections. The service was nonexistent and we had to try very hard to find our server for basic things such as water and coffee refills, menus and finally our check. We must have been on Mars because our server was completely on another planet. Overall, I would not spend my money at the Grand Cafe again. If you want good breakfast I would head into downtown Lake Geneva instead.

Mediocre food and service. Host Theresa was rude and unfriendly at the entrance, she appeared annoyed when our kids wanted to take a pic before entering the dining area. It took 15 mins for someone to come to our table after sitting down. Two out of 4 sets of utensils were dirty. Waitress was friendly but not attentive. Took 25 mins for food to come out. And food was not even hot. Would NOT recommend Grand Cafe to any friends or family. The Italian restaurant at the resort provides much better service and food.

At first, I was apprehensive because of the condensed lunch menu. I chose the avocado salad and the waitress asked if I wanted some protein on it, she highly recommended the salmon. I thought, why not! My husband ordered the chili and it was extremely flavorful. When I got my food, I took one bite of the salon and pushed the salad aside, because the salon was so delicious! I also really enjoyed the salad and I had enough left over for lunch the next day. We sat by the window, what a beautiful view, and the service was great.

We enjoyed our dinner at the Grand Cafe. We each ordered a beer or cocktail before dinner. I had a mojito. It was one of the best mojitos I have ever had.
We all (3 of us) ordered the Friday Fish Fry. It was great. It included 3 pieces of beer battered cod, tartar sauce, cole slaw, fries or garlic mashed potatoes and rye bread with apple butter. We all enjoyed it. No one needed seconds, but we were asked.
It was a great meal and we were all happy with it.
When in this area the next time, I wouldn't hesitate to return to the Grand Cafe in the Grand Geneva.

Service was excellent! But the food was horrible. Do not get the seafood boil. Not sure where the chef went to school but they should not have graduated. We are in WI and corn is plentiful. So why have frozen corn??? The rolls were hockey pucks. The crab was previously prepared and most likely dunked in hot water before serving as it was shriveled and the legs would not break open, just bend. There was no seasoning on any of the food. The prime rib was well done, dry and gross. For $60 a person the picture is what was served for 3 people.
The dinner buffet had gnats and bugs flying around on the food. Good variety but unappetizing.

Will not recommend Saturday evening prime rib buffet! Started with the soup. Placard read beef & barley, it was COLD chicken & wild rice. The salads to choose from were dished on what looked like individual salad plates, which made it look anything but bountiful & not appealing at all. The only salad had by our family of five, was a few dried up radishes & some cole slaw that I had tried. The entree line consisted of cold baked chicken pieces, cold french fries, cold chicken tenders, instant mashed potatoes, some kind of pepper vegetable medley, & prime rib (may have been other items, however, this is only what my family ate). The prime rib was the fattiest I have ever had, slopping off the edge of my plate. It was being carved by a young man who clearly did not want to be there nor knew what he was doing. The deserts were ok, until we tried a beautifully decorated cupcake. The frosting tasted like shortening & the cake was dry. We had 2 beers, 1 cocktail, & 2 sodas. Five of us, plus gratuity? I can't say, because I am so embarrassed! Yes, I knew the cost per person before making reservations, however I would've expected the quality to in the very least, match the price!! Very disappointing!!! Just an observation, it would truly enhance the food quality if steam tables were used instead of little sterno cups, which may or may not have been lit.

Wanted to have Easter lunch here with my family. Made a 3pm reservation on Wednesday. At 11am on Easter morning, the restaurant called me and asked to push my reservation back because the kitchen closed at 3pm to prepare for dinner service. I told them I couldn't, and they said they would honor my reservation anyway. When we arrived, our waitress was very pushy and was clearly trying to get us out of there. I appreciate that they accommodated my reservation, but don't let me reserve a table at 3pm if the kitchen is closed then!
The food was good. I ordered a turkey BLT, which tasted good, but was cold, which I chalked up to the kitchen being closed.
Overall, not especially pleased with my experience here.

Horrific is the only word that comes to mind. I was at Grand Geneva Resort for a 3 day convention and ate at the Grand Cafe twice.- once for lunch, once for supper.
Had a Salmon BLT for lunch. Cold, tasteless and served on soggy Wonder bread that was falling apart before I tried to pick it up. The fries were likewise cold and soft - tasted like they had been sitting under a low grade heat lamp for most of the morning.
The next day, we went back for the Dinner Buffet. The selection of food was one step above a Peoria Best Western Motel continental buffet breakfast and the quality of the food was on par with it. Imagine the worst Chinese Buffet you have ever eaten at $50 per plate.
Absolute low grade swill all around.
Chef Ramsey, you need to pay a visit.

This is one of the restaurants at the Grand Geneva Resort. Highly recommended. I got a falafel wrap with spring greens and hummus. It was listed on the menu as having yogurt as a condiment and I asked for a hummus subsitute. So, they kindly prepared my wrap dairy free. My salad was a simple house salad. Instead of the house dressing I got their house made green goddess dressing, which was delicious. My wife asked the waiter a random passing question about what was in the dressing, and that was that; later, the waitress surprised us: she got the whole recipe from the chef and brought it over for us. It was a very humanizing exchange. This was a lunch meal at a fancy resort but wasn't very pricey for hotel restaurant prices. The atmosphere was elegant and classy.

This review is specifically for the Christmas Eve Buffet (2021) as well as the bar experience. I've been coming to Grand Geneva for various reasons for almost my entire life, whether for summer sports, skiing, dining, etc. It's one of the few places around that's large enough to feel like you're (kind of) getting a grand experience. The Christmas buffet was OK, but for $50 was overpriced. That's more like a big city price for a small town buffet. The quality wasn't quite there for enough items that it didn't feel worth it. Meat dishes were good, desserts were very manufactured. I'd be alright with paying say $30.
Where they really missed the mark, and I mean completely and irredeemably was with their alcoholic beverages. I get that it was Christmas Eve, there's fewer staff or less senior staff, so I don't begrudge them. I asked for what was essentially a whiskey sour, which their menu touted as a fancy version. I received a glass of Jameson with lemon juice and a sad bit of fruit based coloring. I'm not a person who usually sends things back but dang this was foul. I asked for a Margarita instead. I was served, in the same type of glass, another uninspired wash of bottom shelf tequila, lime juice, and just enough salt to distract slightly from the taste of the tequila. Keep in mind they charged $8 or $9 for what was a frat boy's first attempt at a mixed drink. The waitress was very patient and understanding, so I'd like to thank her. The bartender was probably just following recipes and using alcohol predetermined by management (again, it was Xmas Eve), so I blame lack of organization and planning for the terrible drinks.
I'd love to sit in the lounge at Grand Geneva and drink a really good Old Fashioned while listening to the live piano music. I'm not exactly optimistic, but from what I see Grand Geneva is slowly trying to update and revamp it's dining/drinking experience. They seem to have a new lounge menu since I was there last. I hope that they can deliver consistent, good quality beverages in the future even on holidays.

Absolutely terrible!! Thanksgiving dinner was horrible a Swanson TV turkey dinner would be better. Potatoes instant giblet gravy was really packaged brown gravy. The Turkey was something rolled into glob and you got 2 SMALL round circles soup was to come first it came after the dinner cranberries were in a container smaller then a Cole slaw container. My husband order off the menu soup fair a chopped avocado blue cheese salad
It wasn’t chopped it was next to poured. You had to use a spoon to eat it Prime rib sandwich was mediocre. For a $105. It was horrendous!! Along with they took our waitress to work the bar area and no one was assigned our table.; therefore we had to catch a waitress. Other then our first drink we were never asked if we wanted a drink coffee or any beverage!

Went for breakfast my oatmeal was cold , my husband had pancakes we asked for more syrup but was told by our server that it's real syrup which is thin but goes along way. So she said she would bring us some later ,but that time pancakes were cold
.We sensed a bit of a additude. Then it gets better our bill was $41.67 and we paid with a $50 bill, she grabbed the money and assumed the rest was her tip. Our intentions were to leave the rest even though our service wasn't the best but for a server to assume and not ask.SMH.Not to mention there was a drop of creamer left on our table fr our coffee

Thoroughly enjoyed our brunch at the Grand Cafe. Food was excellent, service was exceptional, and the view was wonderful.
We enjoyed the first day of our stay at the Grand Geneva with a perfect brunch experience. The food was absolutely amazing and so fresh. You must try the Avocado Toast, French Toast, and Nutella Pancakes!! SO SO GOOD!!!
We ate here on a weekday so didn’t get to explore their buffet menu, next time definitely trying that. WILL BE BACK!
If you are visiting Lake Geneva then plan a stay at the Grand Geneva for a fun and relaxed vacation.

The Korean bbq wings were really tasty. Only reason I have this 4 stars was that service took a little longer than I would have liked, but I suspect that it was because there were a lot of people there.

A memorable Christmas dinner was had at the Cafe by my wife and I. The dining room was large and well spaced for the Covid situation. Our waiter, Chandler, was very personable and articulate. The whole staff seemed well trained in serving what seemed like sophisticated diners. Our before-dinner cocktails were well mixed and prompt. We both had the special entree of the evening, which was prime rib. The only glitch in the evening was that we had asked the waiter to wait a little while before placing our order to give us time to enjoy our drinks. The dinners were delivered at room temperature and had to be redone and came out delicious. The manager comped our drinks with a sincere apology and all was well. This is a sign of a well managed, first class establishment. The hotel was decorated for the holidays which added to the experience. We will certainly return in the future.

Would not recommend. We only ate the buffet, so I can not speak to anything else. Everything looked great, but was far from it. It was cold and tasteless. After sampling all the buffet food we decided to just turn to the dessert table. Several of my desserts were still frozen in the middle. It was fair..at best. The set up was very poorly designed for sanitary reasons. We had a very hard time get any drinks or refills. Seemed to be a common theme with the other people in the restaurant. I don’t think one person cleaned their plate even those who did not choose the buffet option.
Overall, VERY expensive and not worth it.

My wife and I went there around 6pm on 12/27/2019 and the restaurant was empty. We asked to get seated without reservations and the hostess said there was nothing available until 7. This restaurant is large and seats lots of people and has plenty of tables that only seat 2 people. We walked around and looked at the decorations for 20 minutes or so and hoped they would contact us before 7 as the place was still empty. We decided to sit outside of the Grand Cafe for the last 35 mins and just see what was going on. Maybe we were missing something.
Nope.
The table for 2 we ended up seated at near the front never had anyone Sit there for a meal. In fact the place was maybe 20% full when we were seated.
We have been here a couple of dozen times over the years and usually without reservations but tonight was the night there had to be a problem. We even heard the wait staff talking and trying to figure out why no one was getting seated when the place was packed and numerous groups had been turned away. The foyer was packed with people and the Grand Cafe can crank out some people as the majority get the buffet.
The food is great and we love going there around the holidays because the place is so beautifully decorated and the energy is great!!
Hey Grand Geneva Resort-if you wanna know why your restaurants aren’t making more money it’s because you have hosts and hostesses turning people away when you have no one in there not because of the food or anything else!!

Obviously a nice, elegant place. It is at Grand Geneva after all. Food was very good, had the breakfast buffet. But it's a little pricey...but again, it is at Grand Geneva. Service was just ok. Waiter was pleasant but seemed to be stretched thin so not real attentive. Plan to spend about $25 / person for breakfast.

We have been here before and it was excellent. Today we came as an early mothers day celebration with my Mother-in-law and it was less than desirable. Who has prime rib with no mashed/baked potato? The crab was impossible. They even steamed some and it was still impossible to crack and get nice pieces. They were thin and just not as good as last time or other places. The buffet is small. Not many options. For the price, I expected more, like last time. And why aren't the desserts labeled?! The waitress was great! Excellent service.
