The food was great! I had the two-egg breakfast with bacon (bacon was top tier) and shared the cinnamon roll. Just a heads-up, they kept refilling our Diet Coke without mentioning that refills weren’t free.

Right across from the Capitol, this place nails the farm-to-table concept without being pretentious. I had the burger with Hook’s cheddar — juicy and perfectly seasoned — plus cheese curds that were crispy heaven. Big windows, local beers, and a lively but relaxed vibe. Feels like the real heart of Madison.

Graze is one of those places you can hang out at the bar for happy hour comfortably coming as you are; indulging in elevated food&bev without the stuffiness you might expect if you glanced at the menu without knowing. At the same time, diners that want to step out in their Sunday's best for a long-deserved date night feel right at home sitting at a table. The best of both worlds living harmoniously! Definitely worth a visit.

Updating my review once again… this place is an emotional roller coaster for me. When it opened it was one of the best , then during the pandemic it seemed to really struggle and quality suffered. However , it has risen from the ashes and once again ranks as one of my favorite places in madtown. Food, drinks, and service are consistently en pointe, and you cannot beat that view. Keep it up!!

Three of us went to Graze last night, really just expecting the company and the Capitol views to win the evening. The service and the food have always been great, but, wow, what a remarkable step-up this time.

BONUS: Learned a new Italian word today: Strozzapreti. Drooling now just typing about it. Wish I had kept some of it for lunch today, but it had no chance at all to make it to leftover status.

They were fully booked for brunch so we had to sit at the bar which was fine. The view is amazing in there and overall vibes were great. Obviously pricy but worth it for the experience! I really wanted to try more things on the menu but I went with the loaded hash brown and my girlfriend got the smash burger which was amazing. In the future I’d love to try the Korean dishes and the cheese curds. Also, the bacon egg & cheese egg roll was really unique and it was amazing with the crunch on the outside. Go here!

Horrendous experience - took 90 minutes to even get appetizers, no menus for 45 minutes. Because we did not have a server until later they ran out of items. They also reduced portions compared to other tables (likely because they ran out of food again from being late) but charged us full price. Cant even give a proper review of food when we cant get the items we looked for. Would not recommend.

My friends and I went there for dinner while visiting Madison and put our names on the waiting list for five people on a Thursday night. They told us the wait would be 20 minutes, but it ended up taking over an hour, which was frustrating. We kept asking for updates, but they were out of space the whole time. Since we had already waited so long and were too hungry to go elsewhere, we decided to stick it out. We used the time wisely, and as soon as we were seated, we ordered right away to avoid further delays. The food was good, and so were the drinks. I’d recommend making a reservation if you’re going with a group larger than four.

Not a warm atmosphere- feels very corporate, and uncomfortable. The staff seemed weirdly adversarial, and authoritative. We each ordered a cocktail and asked for one beer flight as well (only 1 flight for the table), and they sent a manager over to tell us that by law they cannot allow us to consume more than one drink at once. (Ever heard of a pitcher of beer or a bloody and a chaser) I’m 35 years old and this guy looked at my passport more throughly than airport security. Maybe they didn’t want us there! That’s fine because we will not be returning. Never have felt less welcome at a restaurant.

I had high expectations walking into Graze, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the moment we arrived. We began with drinks at the bar, where the service was noticeably dismissive and entitled. There was no warmth or welcome—just curt, almost indifferent interactions that set an uncomfortable tone before we were even seated.

That same attitude carried over into dinner. The staff’s demeanor felt rushed and impersonal, with conversations that were short and unfriendly. Any attempt to engage or ask questions about the menu was met with minimal effort, as if we were inconveniencing them by simply being there.

At a restaurant with this price point, a certain level of hospitality should be expected. Dining out, especially at a place positioned as a more upscale experience, is about more than just the food—it’s about feeling valued as a guest. Unfortunately, Graze missed that mark entirely.

There are several other restaurants in the area that deliver a far more attentive and pleasant experience, without the pretension. For now, I’ll be steering clear of Graze and recommending others do the same until they reassess their approach to service.

This is a really nice place in downtown Madison, right off the Capital. I ordered the house-made strawberry lemonade (great), the Wisconsin cheese board with gluten free bread (amazing, loved the almonds), the romaine salad (great), and the graze burger with the gluten free bun and fries (alright). The meat and toppings on the burger were excellent, but my bun fell apart and was hard to eat, which is tough because the gluten free bread for the cheese board was good. My guest got the “normal” graze burger and said it was amazing. I’d come back here again, but I’d order a different gluten free entree.

## Graze: A Madison Must-Try

From the first sip of the Sunset Cosmo to the last crumb of the chocolate chip cookie, Graze in Madison delivers a top-notch dining experience. Starting with the cocktail, it was a perfect opener to what was to come.

The cheese curds are a must-order. They were perfectly golden and delicious. But the real star of the show was the Graze Burger. Made with a blend of brisket, short rib, and bacon that sat on a sesame duck fat bun, each bite was an explosion of flavor. I was so eager to dig in that I completely forgot to snap a photo before devouring it!

To finish, the milk and fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies were the ideal sweet ending. Graze is a standout spot that I can't wait to visit again.

We had been looking forward to dining at Graze, especially given it is a James Beard winner. However, the food and drink did not meet our expectations. The burger was good, but overpowered by the swiss cheese. The Friday fish special was low budget (basically a pile of fried fish chunks over french fries, with a thimble of cole slaw) and not fresh, despite the $30 price. The cod tasted fishy and the sides were sparse and sad. The three dishes seemed like they came from three different restaurants and did not match the high price tag. We would get the cheese curds again though and our server was very nice. We will not be back.

I hadn’t been to Graze in a few years since moving away from Madison to Colorado, but on a very recent visit I grabbed lunch there with my mom at the high-top bar and was pleasantly surprised—it’s still just as good as I remembered.

The cheese curds were spot on (crispy, flavorful, no shortcuts), and the special house burger was totally over the top—in the best way.

The space itself hasn’t lost its charm either. It’s housed in a sleek, modern building with floor-to-ceiling windows and gorgeous views of the Capitol—something I remembered fondly and saw echoed in a lot of recent reviews.

Graze has held onto what made it great. Still a go-to spot that lives up to the hype.

We had the absolute pleasure of being greeted by Jekiah at Graze, and she truly made our dining experience unforgettable! From the moment we walked in, her warm and friendly demeanor set the tone for the evening. She went above and beyond her role as a hostess by taking the time to recommend a few items on the menu (the cheese curds, Korean fried chicken and the espresso brownie sundae). We decided to trust her suggestions, and we’re so glad we did—everything we tried was absolutely phenomenal!

What truly stood out was how attentive and caring she was. Even though her primary role was as a hostess, Jekiah stopped by our table multiple times to check in on us. It wasn’t something we expected, but it made us feel genuinely cared for and added a personal touch to our evening. Her kindness and professionalism were unmatched, and it’s clear she takes pride in ensuring every guest has an exceptional experience.

Graze is lucky to have someone like Jekiah on their team. If you’re dining here, you’re in for a treat—not just with the food, but with the amazing service. Thank you, Jekiah, for making our night so special!

Went for our anniversary dinner & our server Alexandra took great care of us! Knowing we were celebrating, she seated us in the “best seat in the house” and started us with complimentary glasses of Prosecco. She also made wonderful recommendations which we followed mostly. Apps were the Korean friend chicken and gnocchi- TO DIE FOR, which Alex recommended. We also got the racclete appetizer which I would not recommend(nor did Alex, but I wanted to try!). His pork belly meal was SO good(was recommended); I got the pork bibimbap & the portion was LARGE, but a little salty for my liking. We got the basque cake for dessert & I would go back for that alone. And the cocktails were on point! Even with the food we ordered not being all I wanted, I saw the potential there & will stick to my servers recommendations in the future!!

We had a table of 6 for Sunday brunch. Three of us ordered the tortilla (a Spanish frittata), only to be told they'd run out if it, but they'd only been open for 1/2 hr. Further, two of our party had religious based dietary needs. When one asked to not have duck fat on their bun, we were told they can't make any changes to menu items, due to everything being PRE-MADE! The environment had high ceilings with cement floors, so it felt cafeteria-like and loud. If you have hearing aids, this is not a place for you. The server was fine; however didn't apologize for any of the food issues. There are plenty of restaurants in Madison with fresh food and a warm environment. This is not one of them.

I wish Google gave you the option for partial stars. This is more than a 4-star experience, but less than a 5-star.

This restaurant is a Madison favorite for great food and a great atmosphere.

On my latest trip here, we had a few small plates and three drinks for less than 100 bucks. That's tough to do, nowadays.

Two of the plates were awesome. One was just MEH. Plus, they brought out a meat dish for my vegetarian dining companion. We ordered it meatless. Oops.

The service was just OK, but they were busy on a Friday night.

I will return. I like the atmosphere. The food is mostly spot on. The service can be dicey. It's a college town, so you have to deal.

Absolutely phenomenal food and friendly, attentive, knowledgable waitstaff. The atmosphere was upscale and welcoming. I had the street corn and cornbread appetizer, and the pork Bulgogi Bibimbap entree and both were superb. I'll be back if I'm ever in Madison again.

The food is exceptional, and the large glass windows provide a nice view over the square. We went for Sunday brunch, when it wasn’t too busy. The mocktails and cocktails are delicious, and the cheese curds are certainly in my top 3 choices (potentially #1) in Madison. The eggs Benedict had a perfect proportion of ingredients and the hollandaise was very savory. I’ll likely come back for dinner in the future ☺️

Unfortunately the bibimbap didn't come out in a sizzling bowl, so the cold shredded vegetables couldn't cook at all, and they cooked off the rest of the food... Finished about half of mine. Sister ate a third and rejected it.

Two stars just because the cheese curds and sauce deserve note, they were good with some kind of home made dill tasting ranch.

The Bibimbap though is the worst dish of its kind I've had, might need some more training in the kitchen, and some Japanese mayo would be a welcome addition to it... Seemed like canned spinach and the bulgogi needs more sauce, should be marinaded in something with fruit notes or pear.

We considered dessert but didn't end up ordering it with how bad the bibimbap was.

Pretty disappointed with our anniversary dinner last night at Graze. It began with the restaurant being out of the seasonal cocktail highlighted on the menu. We tried the cauliflower tahini which was excellent yay! But it went down from there. Both the pesto pasta and burger lacked any flavor at all, the burger was almost tasteless. The ambience is great at Graze, but my final thought is, being a Tory Miller restaurant, the waitstaff should all be in matching uniforms. They looked sloppy & careless in their attire.

Won’t return here for awhile.

We came to Graze during a weekend trip to celebrate our anniversary. The staff was lovely - when we dine out, I always make note of how the team interacts and this group was friendly and seemed genuinely content in their work. This was evident in their table service - impeccable. We ordered several small plates and loved each one. We actually loved the Korean fried chicken so much that we ordered seconds! The champagne toast for our anniversary was a nice touch as well. Don't skip dessert here! The pavlova was quite memorable.

Dined twice in two days. First day was a 5/5 on food and a 3/5 on service. It was a dinner service. Second time was brunch. For brunch, it was 3/5 on food and a 1/5 on service. I was shockingly disappointed. It honestly felt like a different restaurant on the second day as the food was nowhere near as good and the service was appallingly slow, inattentive, and lackadaisical. With consistency in food execution and better service, this place could be great.

Server was very rude the entire time. Cant tell you her name because she didn’t give us a formal greeting. I asked for no sauce/different sauce on my meal and all she said was “no”, nothing else just “no”. Did not make any alternative suggestions or explain why. As a fellow server I usually give people the benefit of the doubt but this interaction plus every other time she was at the table being short and off-putting really ruined our experience.

Pictured below is the fried onion double smash burger, loaded hash browns, and bibimbap with pork and kimchi.

The bibimbap was nothing special? I thought that other restaurants make it better. The burger also was extremely salty (probably over seasoned). To me, if a restaurant messes up a burger, the rest of the food can’t be good. The server thankfully gave us a discount on the burger. The food also aesthetically looks well at least based on the pictures attached.

Service was also “just ok.” Our server took way too long to give us our check, take our check, and give us back our cards and the receipt. Even though the restaurant was at 1/4 capacity (not busy at all).

I personally would not come here again.

Food was really tasty, but you might be a little limited depending on allergies. They are really good about asking about allergies and making sure you know what is in each dish. Classic cocktails were great. The seasonal ones were fun & more experimental but not quite as balanced. Overall look forward to going back.

The Graze burger is amazing. Wonderful view of the Capital building from the dining area. For those who eat Gluten Free, they have a number of solid options including home made bread/buns. For Celiac they were knowledgeable of what was completely gluten free and what may have cross contamination (primarily fried food as it is a shared fryer)

Had the Bibimbap and Korean chicken sandwich. They were both amazing. Very quick to receive once we were able to order.

Service was lackluster at best. Took 15 min to get water after we were first seated. Then another 20 min just to order. We had long finished our meal and were completely out of water. Finally was able to ask for more water and and the check. I had my card out and ready to go. Waited another 15 min and finally decided to go up to the waiter at the register to cash out. We could have very easily walked out on our bill and no one would have noticed. The lack of service makes me not want to return.

Graze has lost its luster. We used to visit regularly since 2011, but our recent Saturday brunch was disappointing.

We had very inattentive service. We had to ask 4 times for basic things like ketchup (with fries), hot sauce, and chopsticks. Food was mediocre: overcooked poached eggs, soggy English muffin, stringy/tough pork, unseasoned hash browns. We ordered the Korean fried chicken biscuit, and the biscuit wasn’t available, but the kitchen opted not to ask if we wanted something else and instead served what was no more than 3oz of fried chicken on a soggy bun. Next time, ask the diner if they want something else when the kitchen can't fulfill the order.

White wine was served at room temperature, not cold. Menu was overpriced compared to better brunch options in town (Sardine, Heritage, Merchant, Lucille). Overall, an unfortunate experience that didn’t meet our expectations. We are unlikely to return to Graze and can’t recommend the restaurant to friends and family anymore.

I chose this as my birthday dinner only to leave upset and anxious after being served undercooked meat. I didn’t feel like the restaurant handled things properly at all as our server did not really know what to say/do other than take the plate away and neither the manager nor the kitchen staff came to speak with us. I do not feel safe eating here again and would not recommend anyone to do so.

Easily the best cheese curds in Madison. Everything we had was lovely, from the appetizers to the mains to the cocktails. Great non-alcoholic options, too! It may be difficult, but try to leave some room for dessert. At the time we went, they had a chocolate cheesecake with a passion fruit sorbet. We thought we were too full, but we found some room for that. Can't wait to go again!

When you go out to eat, there are expectations. To start, a tasty meal that will delight is certainly one of them. But if you start having thoughts about how much the meal you cooked the other night tasted so much better, then what's the point of eating out?

Our meal at Graze sadly did not delight, as it used to in the past. The cheese curds were much too salty and too greasy. They were also nearly impossible to eat. The curds were all melted into one big cheese curd, and the tiny portion of ranch dressing lacked a fresh taste and it just did not add. The Bibimbap was dry and greasy at the same time. The pork was completely covered with a grainy texture of spices and was tasteless. There was an unexpected fried egg on the top when the soft-boiled egg that's typical to the dish was sorrily missed. The dish is served in a hot bowl - that was unnecessarily hot. I could feel the heat of the bowl as it dangerously made its way past my cheek to the table. I was afraid to turn my head and be scarred for life. (This might have been because of the dim lighting - see below.) The Smashburger was mushy even though it had Panko breadcrumbs. It also fell flat with no flavor. Even the fries were lacking.

The menu is very meat-heavy. Despite having a hamburger on the menu, no veggie option is offered. To add insult, the burger is served on a "duck fat bun." Hello? Why the overload? What's wrong with a normal bun? If you were not up for duck fat in your hamburger bun, there were no other options. The only thing the duck fat added was more tasteless grease. There was one vegetarian option on the menu and one vegan if you got the Bibimbap with no Kimchi - and that was it. It takes great skill to cook delicious vegetables, that even a meat eater can enjoy. It's easier to cook meat - and even this didn't pass the test. Missing was the list of local farms where the ingredients are from. This makes me think the ingredients are not local anymore, as they certainly were not fresh-tasting.

When we first approached Graze, we thought they were closed because the dining room was dark. But because we have often tried to go to Graze, and it looked like they were closed - this time we persevered. How can they always be closed every time we try to go there to eat? As we got closer, we could see that they were indeed open by the tiny flickering candle lights on the tables. Candlelight is fine until it isn't anymore and you can't see what you're eating.

The service was weird. My partner's water glass was constantly filled, while mine wasn't. I couldn't figure out why, and it was starting to be insulting.

There was no love last night for our meal. The love is not there anymore. I don't think we'll be coming back, unfortunately.

We went here for dinner and it had a great atmosphere. Not too busy at 8 on Saturday but likely was busier earlier in the evening. Reasonable prices for a good portion of really good food. The bibimbap was fantastic, although the tofu was a little less firm than would have been ideal. Good drink selections and excellent service throughout in a really nice environment.

Graze is a Madison staple. The views of the capitol can’t be beat and it’s proximity to the farmers market on weekend mornings makes it come alive. A night at Graze isn't just a meal, it's an experience. My recent visit was a symphony of exquisite flavors, attentive service, and a warm, inviting atmosphere that left me utterly smitten.

The Thai Style Kohlrabi Salad was a refreshing contrast, with the crunchy kohlrabi and long beans mingling with the juicy sea scallops and sweet cherry tomatoes. The tamarind vinaigrette added a tangy twist, making every mouthful burst with color and flavor.

And then there was the Spiced Delicata Squash. Roasted to perfection, its sweetness was enhanced by the cranberry gastrique and the creamy Gran Cru Gruyère. The Thai basil meringue added a touch of unexpected intrigue, making this dish a true standout.

We delved into the Butter Mountain Potatoes next. Creamy whipped potatoes embraced braised lamb, the richness of the meat perfectly complemented by the celeriac puree and roasted vegetables. Each forkful was a delightful textural interplay, smooth and fluffy one moment, tender and crisp the next.

The Graze burger is a symphony of juicy perfection. Three-meat patty, caramelized onions, and melty Swiss compound butter come nestled in a sesame duck fat bun, a masterpiece in every bite. And the fries? Oh, the fries! Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, seasoned to perfection, I could not stop eating them.

Graze's pavlova soars, a crisp meringue nest cradling bursts of cherry sorbet, almond cream, and tangy lemon curd. Almond brittle adds the perfect crunch, making each bite a symphony of sweet, tart, and delightful. This isn't dessert, it's an edible masterpiece.

Throughout the night, the service at Graze was impeccable. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, offering insightful recommendations and ensuring our every need was met. They made us feel welcome and comfortable, adding to the overall enjoyable experience.

Graze exceeded every expectation. From the innovative dishes to the impeccable service, the entire evening was a celebration of culinary artistry. It's a restaurant that knows how to weave a tapestry of flavors and textures, leaving you wanting to come back for more.

Started w/ the lavender infused house lemonade spiked w/ Tanqueray Gin to drink. Very refreshing.

Entrée was a grass-fed NY strip w/ caramelized onion-blue cheese compound butter, aged balsamic across the top of the steak. On the side was garlic butter mashed potatoes & bacon-hot honey drizzled brussels sprouts. Steak was very flavorful, plenty tender & cooked properly rare, as ordered.

Dessert was simply 4 freshly baked, gooey chocolate-chip cookies sprinkled w/ flaky sea salt and a glass of 2% milk. Highly recommend.

Very polite & knowledgeable staff, grest recommendations service with a smile.

My recent brunch experience at Graze Restaurant in Madison, Wisconsin, was a blend of delightful sights and decent tastes. Nestled in the heart of the city, Graze, spearheaded by the renowned Chef Tory Miller, promised an exciting culinary adventure. However, while the food was very good, it didn't quite ascend to the exceptional heights I anticipated from a celebrity chef of Miller's caliber.

The atmosphere of Graze, though, partially compensated for the culinary experience. The restaurant exudes a contemporary vibe, complemented by a sense of welcoming warmth. Its large windows frame picturesque views of Madison's Capitol building, offering a visual treat that enhances the dining experience. On a pleasant day, the patio is a perfect spot to enjoy the stunning vistas while savoring your meal.

One standout feature of Graze is its commitment to locally sourced, farm-to-table ingredients, which is evident in the freshness of the dishes. The brunch menu, though not as spectacular as I had hoped, was still a delightful exploration of flavors.

While the food at Graze Restaurant didn't entirely meet my high expectations, the ambiance and views somewhat made up for it. It's a lovely spot for those looking to enjoy a meal with a scenic backdrop, especially if you can grab a seat by the window or on the patio.
