My husband and I are very picky about our Mexican restaurants but this was probably in our top five Mexican restaurants/experiences outside of Mexico! Awesome, authentic flavor of the food, great service and clean beautiful dining room and bathrooms! We will definitely be back when we’re in the area again. We hired Guimo’s to cater our wedding and they did an amazing job! Gustavo was very easy to work with and very helpful with all my questions. We had a taco buffet and everything went so smoothly, and much faster than hiring a taco truck! They even put the churros next to our coffee bar, which was in a different location than the food.

We tried this restaurant for the first time and I have mixed reviews. The service was great, attentive and prompt. The outside seating is very cute and welcoming. We had chips, salsa and queso to start, the chips were stale, the salsa was ok and the queso tasted like it came out of a can. I had a chicken chimichanga and my husband had a burrito. The food did not have any flavor and the beans were watery. Would recommend this place.

I don’t write a lot of reviews and I understand that people usually just write negative reviews. That being said, I’ve been to this restaurant at its new location a couple of times and multiple times at the previous location. Came in a little bit later on a weeknight with three of my children. Got seated fairly promptly and placed orders. Was offered chips and salsa. Those never showed up. Drinks came out from our waitress and food was brought from the kitchen and the reasonable timeframe. Pretty standard fair. Nothing was overly exciting but nothing was bad. We literally saw nobody else from the service end for the rest of our stay. After 25 minutes of kind of waiting, and seeing if anyone would show up after we had finished our meal, decided to just go up and ask for my check and a to go box to leave. Was offered zero refills on drinks. The guy seated next to us who came 15 minutes after we got in there, received two refills of his soda.. Wait staff also went up to other tables in the dining area, at least a couple of times after they had last seen us, but never came back to our table at all, even walking by without acknowledging us. We paid 3,50 apiece for 3 sodas, 2 of which were finished before the meals were finished. . I asked for a lime for my Modelo (never offered a second drink or anything else to drink although I finished this before the meal came out ) and asked for a lime to come out with my street tacos since there weren’t any offered on the plate and they charged me $.50 for the lime.
I understand that the restaurant industry is pressed with not having enough people, but there was a differential in the quality of service visible right in front of us. It’s like we were completely invisible to the wait staff. On top of that, they charged me a surcharge for my credit card. I’m not sure how you confront restaurant staff in real time to give them feedback, but it probably would’ve been helpful. Because of that, I’m just gonna write the review and hope that they realize they need to pay attention to their patrons who were dropping 80 bucks on a simple meal of tacos for a family of four.I’m more than happy just to make food at home and save a lot of money (or get an equivalent dinner at one of the multiple grocery stores in the area and save three or four bucks) and just take it home. If this is the service I’m going to get for what I’m paying, I’m not sure I’d go back.

I was visiting Madison and had lunch with friends and we went to Sun Prairie to Guimos Mexican restaurant. I had never been there before but was curios so decided to meet them there. Lots of good options on menu but I saw they offered lengua tacos that they showed as Street Tacos. You can get 2 or 3 of them but they had a small notation that lengua or tripa tacos costs you extra. I decided on getting 3 lengua tacos with rice and beans. The rice and beans were pretty basic but the lengua tacos were awesome. The meat was so tender and delicious. I would go back there again for sure. The staff was very attentive and the place had a good atmosphere. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Give it a try!

We had Guimo’s cater a private event and the whole experience was excellent. They were very responsive during the planning process, ensuring that the menu was exactly what we wanted and accommodating different dietary preferences. They worked with our budget and pricing was very reasonable. The delivery and set up of the food was punctual and professional and made preparation very easy for us. I had 2 steak tacos and one El Pastor taco with beans and rice. It was the Street tacos dinner. I tried the steak taco first. The flavor was OK. Unfortunately, I had to pull out a couple of pieces of gristle. When I looked at the meat a little closer on the second taco, the beef had no caramelization. I didn’t try the El Pastor taco, so I can’t give any insight. The beans and rice were pretty good. The complimentary chips and salsa were excellent. The service was great and the restaurant was nice.
I have to be honest with my reviews. I don’t like giving negative feedback. However, I feel like changes happen this way. I’m hoping next time things will be different.

We've been loving Guimo's for years and freaked out a little when the original location closed. This new location is great, though! Old location review: I always go for the shrimp tacos, they are delightful and they have a list of fabulous dishes..
New location review: the atmosphere here is lovely. We were offered chips and salsa. A word of caution, do not order a side of guacamole. You will get a shot glass full of guac for $6.
Be sure you also confirm order as they had given me a chicken enchilada suisa instead of shrimp and when I tried to ensure I was charged properly there was communication issues. The chef came out to help with the translation. I am sad that this wasn't a good experience in the new establishment. Could be a bad day. We were credited for the guacamole and sour cream side which I'm thankful for.

Went to the new location last night for the first time. Very nice inside, and the service was pretty good. Slow, but friendly. But my main complaint is a chimichanga. Nowhere in the description does it say that there's going to be a TON of rice inside of it..... They use rice as a filler, and hardly put any meat inside. It was $17. The flavor of the rice was not very flavorful either. Like I said, it's a nice place, but I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon.

My tacos campechanos died after being sent back due to onions that were not supposed to be on them. Someone picked them off re-cilantro'd them and sent them back so you can imagine corn tortillas after 10 min. Yup fell apart!
But flavors were good.
chilis toreados were a disappointment. Plating was awful, no seasonings, just 2 plain fried jalapeños for 3$
Also not a fan of the rice it was missing the Mexican part. Almost like rice-a-roni. No veggies or potatoes. Weird.
Will probably give another try.

We've been coming to Guimo's for years. We checked out their new location and I loved the ambiance and the inside decor. The food was good as usual (except for the long black hair in my taco) and the service was ok, albeit a little slow. My only major gripe, and always has been, is their salsa and dip portions are extremely small for what you pay. We paid $9 for the queso and chorizo dip and with four adults, we each got a couple chips before it was almost gone. We weren't dipping huge portions either. It just isn't worth $9. I frequent Maria's in Watertown and their chorizo and queso dip comes in a huge black dipping bowl and you feel like it's never ending. That is what I want when paying that price. Overall it was good, and we'll likely be back at some point.

Love the new location. Also - great that you now offer beer, margaritas etc. My wife ordered the shrimp chimichanga, which she said was great. I tried the chicken tinga burrito. I was a little disappointed, since it didn't seem to have much flavor. Also, you might consider offering this dish with some sort of sauce on top, since it seemed a little lacking. (Still trying to find a Mexican restaurant in Wisconsin, that offers "green chili pork", like they do in Colorado). But, at least a cheese sauce or a red enchilada sauce would have been nice. There were quite a few beers on the menu, including some on draft. Unfortunately, they were mostly IPAs or light lager beers. You should consider a bit more variety, for example add at least one darker beer. Negra Modelo, instead of just Modelo would be great! And if you offered it on tap - that would be even better. On a final note, please consider making the salsa hotter. People in Wisconsin are no longer afraid to eat spicier food!

I recently visited Guimos Mexican restaurant and had an incredible experience. The margarita tree was a showstopper - not only was it visually stunning, but it was also incredibly delicious. It definitely added a fun and festive touch to our evening.

And let's talk about the lengua tacos - they were hands down the best I've ever had. The meat was tender, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the fresh toppings. Every bite was a delight.

Seriously the BEST Mexican food I’ve had in a long time. I got the taco plate and tried the pollo, pastor, and asada tacos and all three were incredible. An absolute hidden gem. You might drive right by and not even notice the place but don't let that fool you. I had some of the best steak tacos I've ever had as well as excellent homemade hot sauce. I usually love Guimos. I'm a frequent customer. Today I ordered pickup through their website and picked up at 7:30pm. When i got home and started eating my Street Fries, I got about a quarter of the way through and bit down on something hard and sharp. It cut the side of my mouth. I pulled it out and sure enough found a screw. The restaurant closed at 8pm so I have no way to get ahold of them. I'm really disappointed, and I don't think I trust them enough to ever go back.

The woman’s bathroom was clean but there was no toilet paper and had to use a paper towel.

I went here a few times and have generally been impressed, so I recommended that my coworkers go here for lunch after a meeting. Out of the 8 of us who went, all 6 people who ordered chicken got food poisoning that night and through the next few days. It wasn't just a stomach ache, it was explosive... To say the least, I was awfully embarrassed that I recommended Guimo's to my team.

First time here. Very friendly staff. You order from a menu and pay first like you're at a fast food place but it's not technically (we were a little confused on how we should tip at first. We did on the receipt in the beginning and after our meal because the lady was great and accommodating). It's a super fast and efficient restaurant. You sit down, then they bring you out some chips, salsa, sauces, drinks and your entrees. The ladies were so sweet last night! The food was great! My husband's burrito and my chimichanga were HUGE! It was nice that we could just leave when we were througg since we paid already! No waiting for the bill! Thanks for a nice, quick bite! Will definitely return.

Ordered take out. Got home and saw that the shrimp tacos came on a flour tortilla instead of corn, and gluten is a dietary restriction of mine. The rice was mushy. Overall taste was bland. Not going back.

Tuesday Fajitas for 2 people or 2 days...your choice. No reason to deviate from chicken and pork today...kitchen was hummin' and could taste it after parking. Asada is a quality upgrade.
