Great food!
My husband had the Ford burger w/ onion rings - he stated it was one of the best burgers he has ever eaten. The onion rings were great. They are a nice fresh onion slice with crispy batter.
I had the Greek Lightening, which is a burger with Gyro meat and toppings. It was delicious! I also had their coleslaw which was in a wonderful creamy sauce. All was delicious.
My daughter had the fish sandwich and french fries. She said her fish sandwich was great and she would get it again. Was initially very hot and burned her mouth and fingers just a little bit, so be aware of this when getting this sandwich. French fries were the thick wavy fries, which were great.

To drink we had a chocolate milkshake, a strawberry shake, and a Sprecher rootbeer. Fresh strawberries, yum. I do wish the strawberry shake had a touch more strawberries though.

Definitely a place we will go to again.

The vibe of the place is great! A giant Gus, Elvis in the corner, 50s diner vibe! Loved everything about it!

I got the haystack burger and it was so good I got it again the next day. Their ice cream and milkshakes are made with custard which makes them the perfect consistency for drinking. Great restaurant. Fantastic atmosphere. Friendly service. Motorcycle friendly!

Everything about this place is great. Here’s my issue. This is a fast food restaurant with no waitress. Every time I order food at the counter on the screen it shows tip. I’m sick and tired how everyone is asking for tips!! Just do your job and stop begging for money. For this reason I will not return.

I've been to Gus's several times; by myself and with my wife and kids. Fun place to visit, very casual atmosphere, and plenty of outdoor seating. The food is great and you get plenty of fries with your sandwich. I really like the gyro, tons of veggies on it and the sauce is great. I'd highly recommend Gus's for a casual night out.

Week 2 of the Burger, Rings & Malt quest, and this week’s stop did not disappoint.

Today’s adventure: Gus’s Drive-In in East Troy — and yep, it totally brought back that classic drive-in feel with a full-on Happy Days vibe. Pull-up stalls, chrome details, and a summer night kind of energy.

Here’s the breakdown:

Burger: 9/10 – Classic setup with ketchup, mustard, onions, and pickles. Juicy and flavorful with that grilled edge that hits just right. I usually lean toward smash burgers with that crispy, caramelized crust, but this one still held its own.

Onion Rings: 10/10 – Perfectly crispy with a great crunch and flavor. No complaints here!

Chocolate Malt: 10/10 – Thick, rich, and instantly transported me back to being 10 years old. Only downside? They brought it out before the food, so by the time the burger came, the malt had started to melt a little, but still delicious. ❄️

Bonus points: they buy a lot of their ingredients locally, and the beef is always fresh, never frozen. I love seeing that.

All in all, Gus’s is a great stop especially if you’ve got kids or grandkids along for the ride. In a few years I can't wait to bring mine! Still haven’t found that perfect trifecta, but I’m getting closer. The mission continues… 🍔🧅🥤

Ambiance/location: This is where Gus's shines. Amazing frive up burger and shake set up. "Big Gus" out front is unique and fun. "The King", Elvis, on the inside was great. Very mid 20th century burger joint atmosphere. So fun! On main road with plenty of parking. See if you can dind the rusted classic car hiding in the bushes. Bathroom was clean. 5 stars!

Ice cream: I had a classic banana split with cashews added. Your tyoical banana split very good except the "pineapple" and "strawberries". Canned pineapple and what seemed to be syrup dipped strwaberries were not what i expected and were terrible. I would never put that pineapple on anything. The strawberries were very diappointing, too, as i hoped for sliced fresh strawberry. 2 stars for the "fruit". My friend got the equivalent of a cookie dough and brownie dairy queen blizzard. He liked it but not fantastic. 4 stars. Food averages to 3 stars

Really fun spot despite the fruit disappointment. I would give the burgers or chicago style dog a try and maybe order something on the ice cream menu without any fruit.

We were in East Troy to visit the Railway Museum and stopped here for lunch. Cool place! Food was great, I had the Chicago Dogs. French fries were perfect and delicious. If you enjoy drive in burger and custard places then Gus's should be on your list to visit. The burgers are not massive like Kopps, but they are delicious. If you get one of their meals with fries and a malt you likely will be stuffed. I know I am right now. Malt was delicious. Fries were cooked just right and perfect with ketchup. If you can, go there on a cruise night and check out the old cars. And if it isn't a cruise night, you might see some awesome cars anyway. We did tonight!

Second time here and was just as good as first time, nice thick burgers, tasty fries. Ice cream is really good too. Had a 50's kind of theme to it with several stories and album covers on wall. You're greeted by a big Elvis statue when you first walk in. They have old time music playing over the speakers to help bring back the nostalgic feeling of the old time drive in. Found out the history of the giant Gus statue out front. The history is on the outside wall by sitting area.
