We sat down after making our way to the bar over sticky floors. Ordered ice tea (watered down) and a bloody. Ordered cowboy caviar for a snack. 10 minutes later the waitress asked if we wanted to order....we informed her we had ordered. 30 more minutes and we asked about our order. She then brings us spinach artichoke with burnt pita chips. So, she gave us 10% off an item that we never ordered. It was NOT good. She then informed us that the cook walked out as she was seating more people and tacking orders. Get it together!

We were very disappointed. Our service said she was new so I gave 2 stars. She didn't know if they had ice tea, I asked for water, she brought lemonade. I asked what the soup was, she didn't know, We wanted crackers, she didn't know what came with it or the price fir a side. I watched other staff just talking with others and not helping her. She will only be as good as the people that trained her. The crab cakes had little flavor and the salad dressing was watered down.

I ordered a chicken salad w/raspberry vinaigrette dressing (the menu shows that this comes with a breadstick) & a Raspberry iced tea. My husband ordered a bowl of chili and a sandwich.The salad was delicious. After we left I realized I never got my breadstick. The tea tasted very watered down. The chili was very disappointing.
We felt it was quite expensive but might stop back for a drink.

There is an extra service charge for using a credit card. The banks do not charge that much. I looked it up. This should be a cost of doing business, not an extra cost to us. Most people do not carry a lot of cash anymore. It's 2021! Not 1922
Update for summer 2024:
New owner wants to run a cheap dive bar. Not the supper club it used to be. Can not say anything positive about the food, help, rather the lack of it, owner who is full of himself. Or drunk.
Go elsewhere if you can. Or just cook at home. This place is on a fast ride to bankruptcy.

This place has some major issues with new owners. Only 3 patrons in entire establishment when we were there at 7pm. There was a kid with a drunk playing with matchbox cars in the middle of the floor. Same drunks pants were almost falling off with barndoor wide open and underwear hanging out. Not something I want to see when going out for dinner. Bartender looked like something out of a horror movie.
Asked how I wanted my burger and I said rare. Burger came out well done like shoe leather. Asked for change to play pool, and they had none???? Bartender was giving free shots to the drunk whose pants were falling off and doing shots with him. My son ordered a grilled ham and cheese that was disgustingly microwaved. Do not order a Moscow Mule drink. The copper cup wasn't polished and the inside of the cup was black. Should be shiny copper and silver look too the inside not nasty black tarnish. Water was coming from the kitchen door to the outside and freezing in the walkway. Lawsuit just waiting to happen. We also ordered a chicken wing appetizer. Could tell right away they were frozen because the middles were ice cold.
Fries are the cheapest thing a resteraunt can serve. Got a huge helping of about 8 with my burger. 🤣🤣

This used to be a great place. I didn't say anything. Will just vote with my feet and go somewhere else next time. Harbor View is undoubtedly losing money and I don't see new owners being able to make it, and that was straight from the bartenders mouth. She said they were having purveyors issues.

To sum it all up. The people owning or running it have no real experience.

I always give another chance. Harbor view has run out of chances. Food is less than adequate. We found bugs in our bourbon. The owner was drunk. This is not the first time we saw him hammered. Stop in to have fish fry was very disappointed. The place had so many dead flies on window seals. The tables were dirty not wiped down after other customers left. The food was ok but very little I had 5 fries and tiny pieces that should had been thrown away. They brought food out to the couple that was with us and sat it down then said it wasn’t there’s and gave it to someone else. The food wasn’t all served at the same time. Too many kids going in the kitchen. Hope no one gets sick. Won’t be going back. Very sad

We got 3-4 plates of food. Then a half a hour later we got 3 more.. then over an hour later we got the last two everyone was done eating.. the fish was great. The six fries we got with our meal were cold. The tarter sauce was like milk. The coleslaw was not the best. For 18$ for 3 piece fish.. I would look elsewhere. The staff wasn't trying to help accommodate the situation without getting our food at once. We had to sit and wait for the menu, wait, and pass out our own silver ware napkins. Wait and sit for everything.. I would not recommend this place. It used to be great. We will NEVER go back again. With our bill $150.00 it was only worth maybe 50$..

We stopped for a fish fry. The bartender got our drinks and gave us menus. I asked if the fish fry came with coleslaw and rye bread. The bartender said, "No, onlya choice of potatoe." I commented that usually it does, and Marisa (owner) said, "I've never heard of that. Why would we do that?" Marisa got upset and told us to leave and never come back. Ironically, Joe (owner) was asking what they could do to make it right. We left and will never go back.

Have been here a few times with nothing but great food and service. Decided to try the pizza finally, ordered a large 3 topping pizza, came to pick up total was 27.50 before tax and everything for the pizza. Came out in a big box and was excited for it opened it to a 12" pizza with a dried out chewy crust... toppings had amazing flavor but for 30$ I was expecting and big pizza.. will go back for other food but the pizzas need to be better. I did ask and was told that's the only size crust they have now and it starts at like 22$ the online prices didn't match. Couldn't figure out how to add a picture....

Marisa, Joe (owners) and Noel (bartender) were the best! They were so friendly, funny and welcoming! You can really tell they take pride in their place.

The food was delicious! We dined there twice during our stay in Phillips. The burgers were made from Black Angus and were juicy and cooked to perfection. The broasted chicken was another great choice. You received four delicious hand breaded pieces made perfectly. Our only complaint, which was not their fault was the prime rib. It was prepared in Celsius instead of Fahrenheit. Three of us wanted it prepared medium rare but there was only enough for two of us. Other than that we were very happy with everything!! See you guys next year!

This place might make someone sick. I watched menus fall into the ice chest while I stood waiting for our check. The chicken filet sandwich came as one chicken tender on a bun, the lettuce was wilted and there were about 8 fries. We complained and got a 2nd chicken tender added to the sandwich with, "well I checked and the chicken tenders are what they're using for the filets." I seriously thought I was on an episode of Bar Rescue or Kitchen Nightmare. We will never be back, which is sad because the location and view are amazing.

Myself, my daughter, my partner, her son, and his girlfriend have been sitting on the patio now for 20 minutes. The owner and his wife/gf/partner have been outside for 15 of the 20 minutes we've been here. We have yet to have a server come up to our table, provide menu's, ask for our drink order, or even welcome us.
Based on previous reviews, I took pictures of the owner and his partner ignoring customers on the patio. More than happy to provide the pics of the owner smoking his cigar (on the patio...where we are sitting. His partner is wearing a "make a harbor view great again" hat...it should read "make harbor view management great again" because this place used to be amazing. New ownership is absolutely terrible.

We were *finally* greeted after 35 (almost 40) minutes. When the server finally arrived, we ordered a Coca-Cola, a water, two kids white cheddar Mac & cheeses, and two alcoholic beverages. We finally received our Coca-Cola and water...seven minutes after we placed our order (which, was 100% not Coca-Cola, or remotely a coke product...tasted more like rotten RC cola.). When we reached the 45 minute mark and we haven't received anything more than N/A beverages, compounded by witnessing the owner(s) doing nothing more than smoking cigars/walking up/down the stairs bidding the neighbors "safe travels (on their boat)/speaking to each other (not conversing with any patrons), we decided to leave.
We were there for just shy of an hour. Without a doubt, it was the worst (hands down, bar none) service I have ever experienced. Ever (and I am a 4+ year veteran in the service industry).
To the owner(s): I had my timer running and have screenshots to prove the aforementioned accusations and [agregious] times I have quoted. I'm more than happy to provide them, upon request. Please don't attempt to pacify this comment, as you have so many other comments. But, then again, we did have a "half black" guy at our table (my step-son)

Our group was very much looking forward to a nice meal after a long day on the water. When we arrived there was one other table. All to say… there should not have been any wait. We were seated immediately by our sweet waiter, Logan. Props to you Logan for muddling through with little training or help from the rest of the team. I can only guess this was his first job and he was really trying.
It took 30 minutes to get our drinks. There were 7 of us and they brought them out 2 at a time and many minutes apart. We finally went to the bar to order our wine instead of waiting any longer. The bartender was very confused as to where the appropriate bottle was and was even more confused by the drink chips that we had. The owner was sitting at the bar, clearly more interested in his cocktails than what was happening in his restaurant. We ordered our food on a Friday night - one of the kids requested the fish fry. After about 45 minutes we received 4 of the meals and an appetizer. The rest of the food did not follow until requested another 30 minutes later. One of those was the fish… on a Friday night in Wisconsin! What?
By the end of the meal we took the late food to go (we should not have paid for that) and then received the bill for the full amount, including the wine that was already paid for at the bar. At that point poor Logan didn’t even know what to do. The bartender came back over and after much discussion told us she would “comp” the drinks that we already paid for!
Horrible service, food was fine, but not worthy of going back. We had to request tartar sauce, never got drink refills, and I’m talking we didn’t even get water refilled. Told the manager on the way out and he seemed shocked we had a bad experience. Can I also mention we were seated indoors because the band was setting up outdoors, although they never started playing while we were there. The table was in the sun, and so unbelievably hot. Put up some blinds, add some fans. Something! Also - don’t have your kitchen staff bring out food with no teeth and looking filthy. Questionable at best.
We are two mom friends that never get a break and were excited to treat our kids to a fun day. Better off cooking and doing the dishes ourself.
Logan - again, props to you for not giving up. They need to give you the proper training and support you. If it hadn’t been you, there would have been no tip whatsoever. Wish you luck, and hope this new ownership can get their act together.

MAKE THE HARBOR VIEW GREAT (or at least OK) AGAIN!!!! Never write reviews, but wowowow. I would give zero stars if able. Location is prime, been here many times over the years, but yikes with these new owners. Our sweet (young) waiter was stuck working the whole indoor and outdoor area alone, while the two new owners sat around chatting / drinking watching him flounder. Had to finally go inside to get our drinks after waiting 20 mins, when the food arrived it was cold & the order incorrect. Had to go in & grab our own cutlery, condiments, etc. Bathroom was filthy. And complete non sequitor but adding to the weird ambiance: young girl encouraged to ride her bike by owner at full speed, weaving around tables because it’s “HER LAND!” while speaker was loudly playing profanity-ridden music to a patio filled with young kids, Trump paraphernalia literally everywhere, all while the owner was strutting around just smoking cigars, like he owned the place…which up until recently was something to be proud of. Still processing how strange this entire experience was.

Our family has been going to Harbor View as long as I can remember. It's a staple to our yearly family vacation to Phillips! We always look forward to our boat rides to this place. Unfortunately, we visited this year and the restaurant (with new ownership) is not the same. It took 30 minutes to order a Bloodymary (which tasted like tomato soup), we didn't get our waters and no one asked for our food orders (so we didn't put an order in). The vibes of the place is just different, odd and not inviting. Kids were riding their bikes inside, the slot machines were gone, apparently 2 people quit that same day and when you walk in it's a basically a walking promotion for his CBD company. There was more advertisements and work put into the CBD company that the restaurant itself. It's a shame that such an amazing place has gone down hill in such a short time. I really hope this place improves by the time we come up next.

Excellent friendly service from the second we walked in the door. We had the homemade empanadas which were hands down the best authentic empanadas anywhere in the north woods. We also had the tamales which were also very authentic and fresh. The food far exceeded our expectations.

We came to find out that the place was under new ownership and the new owners were very outgoing and welcoming. Give them a try and don’t listen to the naysayers.

I've now been there twice since the ownership has changed and it has become a sad ghost town of a restaurant. Both visits (lunch & dinner) it seemed as if we were the only patrons that day.

The menu has been gutted. Even items listed are not available and described as "not coming back". Cocktails and beers are overpriced, and while the price of the food is seemingly fair, the quality has dropped off. With no other patrons in sight, our food arrived too fast and apparently just warm enough to be edible. I tried the Wisconsin staple of the Friday Fish Fry, it wasn't terrible but in a state where everyone has a fish fry, you're better off anywhere else.

I could go on about the weird uncomfortable atmosphere, the braggadocious owners, or the "make harbor view great again" merch but I think I've made my point above.

It truly seems tragic to have a once fun spot of Phillips turned into an out of towners playhouse.

I was told this place is a great place to go but definitely not yesterday. Arrived early afternoon and had a seat on the deck. We were told they were out of menus, although there were menus just lying around on a couple of tables with nobody at them. Saw empty glasses and plates around and each time the young waiter passed by, he didn't bother to take them with him back to the kitchen. There was a guest on the deck that started picking things up and taking them in just so it got cleaned up a little bit. Our drinks took at least 20 minutes to get and they were only tea. People were getting up from their tables and going to the bar to get their own drinks rather than ordering through the waiter. The food finally came out after an hour. It was pretty good but nothing worth waiting that long for. I would hope this isn't how this place always runs, but I'm not sure I'll bother going back to find out.

Horrible. Have been coming here all my life & always loved harbor view. The new owner is horrible, rude and very disrespectful to women.

Reasons you should avoid;

Our appetizer came out frozen, and they were out of over 50% of the menu. Only go if you like frozen fried food.

Believe he is tampering with his slots, reported to state - printed out tickets with way less money than machines read. When talked to owner, he was insanely rude and kicked us out.

I would highly recommend going to the other amazing locally owned places in the area.

Harbor view restaurant is under new ownership and the owner, Joe, is an aviation enthusiast as well as a retired military person. Food and service were very good. My burger was cooked perfectly to my request. The fries were crispy and tasty.

Food is good and, for those of you who are private pilots, it's about a 2 min walk from the airport ramp. It's too bad they don't have a pedestrian crosswalk. Perhaps the town of Phillips or Price County could add some signage to make the crossing safer.

After waiting an hour for a salad while staff smoked a cigarette on the dining patio where a pregnant customer was sitting a table away, they had no answer for how much longer it would be and still charged us for two fountain drinks. Update with new owners: won't bother going back. Dry, flavorless burger that was overcooked. Extremely unfriendly bartender, who I think is their GM. I know your target customer is out of towners, but your locals are who will keep you open. The vibe was, "quit bothering me" I don't want bad things for you, but you won't be successful alienating the locals.

We called ahead in the morning to make a dinner reservation for 4 at 6:45pm. We arrive at 6:35 and walked out the the patio to wait for our reservation time. Our waitress came out and got us. She explained to us that we were being seated at a table for 6 because there were no other tables cleaned off and apologized that even this table.hadnt been cleaned off yet. We stated it was fine and that we weren't too fussy. Just happy to get seated. She came back to order our drinks and explained to us that the wait time would be long. When she said this we all said that was ok and put in our fish fry orders. We were wrong in not asking for how long. We assumed 20 minutes. But after an hour our waitress came back to explain that they ran out of jumbo shrimp and had to exchange our order to regular shrimp but would be giving two extra pieces of it. When we asked how long the wait would still be she stated to expect our food at 8:05. We let her know that we were then going to be out on the patio enjoying the view as we still had over 30 minutes to wait. We didn't get upset and understood that Fridays are busy. Plus we all already drove an hour plus to the place and dint really feel like trying our hand with another packed place. Our food arrived at about 8:20. When our plates were delivered I was a bit disappointed. I got the 3 piece cod with mashed potatoes and two captain and root beers. My boyfriend got the two piece cod with french fries as well as two captian and cokes. Our portions were TINY. Our friends had 2 piece cod with a baked potato and the shrimp with sweet potato fries with lemonades or water to drink. The mashed potatoes for me were amazing. Every one around me though stated their potato options fell flat. As well as the rest of their dinner. The total for just myself and my boyfriend (with a 20%tip because I don't blame wait staff for kitchen issues) was $87. For comparison, I don't need a reservation at tilted loon in tomahawk. I know I will be seated within an hour. We pay pretty much the same price but the food is way better and the two pieces of fish are the size of my head.

All of us agreed we would not come back. And would stick to our own local establishments.

Yikes. Waited for such a long time for our food... got the wrong appetizers (it was right on our ticket, so I'm assuming mix up in the kitchen not the waitress), waited a long time for our food, then waited longer for my husband's meal after a mix up in the kitchen (he got his after we were all done)? Let the photo speak for itself with my $12 BLT... tiny piece of lettuce, half a tomato slice on each half, and a few pieces of bacon. The view was beautiful, and we were really hoping the food would be just as good!

Our visit was very disappointing. The kitchen staff don't seem to have a handle on things. The wrong items were coming out for different tables. It was almost an hour before any food came out from our order and my burger was given to another table and I waited another 30 min for my burger and had to just get a box to go. There were only a handful of people in the restaurant but apparently that was enough to put the kitchen staff behind. I'd hate to experience a busy evening. First and last time at this place for me.

Going to Harborview is always enjoyable. The new owners and all of the staff are always friendly, accommodating, and welcoming. The food is delicious. There are beautiful views. Kid friendly environment. Just an all around pleasant experience every time. We will continue to go back and show our support.

Burnt pizza, cold mashed potatoes, out of lettuce for salads, ran out of Diet Coke, waitress never came back to table, had go to the bar to get drinks for our table. Talked the owner and she said they only bought the place for the real estate and will probably close the bar and restaurant because they don’t get any support from the community. I am not surprised after our visit.

This place went under new ownership in 2024. We always loved going there prior to new owners.
We went and got fish fry. It was the worst fish fry we have had in our entire life. I even ordered 3 jumbo shrimp and those were terrible. The cocktail sauce they gave me was frozen solid.
We will not go here any more.

Garlic Chicken Alfredo was gross tasted like they just put heavy cream as sause over noodles, also had chicken bacon ranch wrap and chicken was undercooked and french fries tasted like water. Also had to listen to waitress/dishwasher talking about how she couldn't take a job at the Jail in price county due to all her drug dealers being in and out of jail. So she was stuck with the harbor view job. Along with other things she probably shouldn't have been talking about in a work area in ear shot of other ppl.

After hearing about a company meal and Fridays fish fry I was really excited to try it for myself (being told there are new owners)... unfortunately I was slightly disappointed. No consistency. Fish was saugy, not crisp, hashbrowns on my end were underdone, hashbrowns on my significant others end were over done. I'm not sure if just because it was a companies order that it turned out phenomenal...? I feel there is potential and love a good fish fry but only when everyone is considered V.I.P. Look forward to updating this review!

We came in with a toddler to get something to eat after being on the road for quite a while. No welcome. Bar empty and two girls behind bar. Five or more minutes for them to acknowledge us. We chose this place because it had a very nice view overlooking the lake. It was 95 degrees outside so sitting on the patio was out of the question. At the start, the food and the view was very good. The only issue we had was halfway through our meal a customer, who was obviously a regular, came in and closed 3/4s of the blinds. She couldn't have cared less that several people were already sitting at the bar enjoying the view of the lake. She closed blinds that weren't even near her group. Of course since the bartender and servers knew her and didn't know us, nobody said anything to her.

We went for a late lunch. Three of us had the whaler good sized portions and tasted great. We sat out on the deck overlooking the lake and we were able to bring our dog. They even brought him a huge bowl of water. I also wanted to say we had my parents that were both 87 and with walkers, the waiters and waitresses went above and beyond with their attentiveness and patience. The next time we are in phillips we will be back.

I thought the Friday fish fry deep fried was delicious. Fair size pieces and could be combined with chicken so I had a bit of both. The drinks were well made. We were on a snowmobile club trip and got lost. We were cold, tired, hungry and spent. We knew kitchens typically close at 9PM and were walking in to Harborview at 9:20. The bar tender confirmed that the kitchen was closed but offered to make us all pizzas. I could have cried. Such a wonderful gesture for a bunch of tired strangers. Thank you Harborview for stepping up and caring! Pizzas were EXCELLENT!

Absolute horrible service, we ended up sitting in the corner for a half an hour waiting for a waitress to even approach our table while we watched people come in after us get waited on. She finally showed up to take our order took our order for our drinks never brought them to the table, had to remind her when we got our food that we never got our drinks,then never bothered to stop back at the table to see if we needed anything while we were eating. Overall Harbor View has been a favorite spot to visit. The bar service was very good but the food service was a little off. Minor issues: wrong dressings were brought to us; I asked for no cucumbers and there were loads of them. Again nothing terrible and these issues were rectified immediately.
It's still one of our favorite places in Phillips and we will definitely go back again. You won't go wrong by going here. Enjoy!
