Fox Lake is beautiful, but the cabin we stayed in was definitely run down, outdated, and kind of dirty/grimy feeling. Most doors wouldn't close/latch, fans were missing blades, and the room layout was strange to say the least. Most of the other buildings looked run down from the outside as well. It worked well tho for fitting our large group, and the price wasn't unreasonable. Just don't expect high end accommodations.

The Fox Lake Correctional Institution retirees held their gathering at the Hayes Resort. As always it was great to renew long standing friendships and catch up! The food was delicious and the bar was great as usual. Now that Covid has diminished the time was right to get together...and Hayes Resort didn't disappoint!

The Cottages are clean and comfortable there's not a lot of amenities the restaurant and bar serve great food good company the lake has got great fishing but best of all it's the kind of place you could hang out for a week and forget everything else going on in the world.

Nice little lake restaurant with cabins for rent. Usual Wisconsin casual good options and full bar. There are not a whole lot of dining options on Fox Lake so this is a nice option for that summer time lake experience. They do have a dock if you want to come by boat. The rental cabins are very much cabins, with a quaint charm.

Hayes caters to anyone. Most patrons are older. Depending on the bar tender you get you may be talking to yourself or in a great conversation about anything. The owner is fantastic. Great stories and very friendly. The food is good. They have Prime rib on Saturdays. It was cooked the way I asked it to be, medium rare. It came out ruby red. I would have used a bit more seasoning when cooking. I still ate all of it. Portion size was good also. Average costs. One great thing about Hayes is the South Wall behind the bar is all windows. When it's a clear night the sunset is absolutely beautiful. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing meal while on Fox Lake, I suggest Hayes.

Fantastic place to go for breakfast! Had the large farmers breakfast with a few friends up to visit ordering as well. All were done awesome, with different egg styles and sides. Owner and staff are very friendly and made sure everything was just right. I've had lunches and dinners as well when up on vacation and all are exactly what you would expect. Don't miss this place if you want great food and local hospitality!

Good cozy place to destress and relax. Every time I go I always catch some fish and have a good laugh with the owner and his staff over a cocktail or two. Service is great and the food is delicious. The view over the lake is awesome.

Place is not what it used to be. Took a group of 5 for dinner and waiter almost 90 minutes to be served. Food was just okay. I remember when this was the place to go unfortunately until something change I won't be going anymore.

The two houses we stayed in were right on the lake and were very clean. They could have used some updating. The largest of the two slept 20 and had two shower/toilet rooms that shared a double sink area. This house was too small for 20 adults. Also they no longer do boat rentals. We did not eat at the bar/restaurant. Honestly the whole place has a nice feel but needs some tlc.

Going out of business - I'm very surprised to see the positive comments on here from yesterday as I was there and service was horrible. Sunday morning we went for breakfast with the family and will never go back. Almost every part of our meal went wrong along with other families near us. Our waitress could not answer even the most basic questions. Although it made us mad its obvious that it was due to the management/training. It took two hours to get through the process, the food was about 4/10 and then we stood at the bar waiting just to get our check so we could finally leave. With that said the owner sat at the bar the whole time and did NOTHING to help any of the staff. The resort is currently for sale and it shows. DO NOT GO HERE.

Husband threw a bachelor party here and loved it! Friendly staff that is incredibly easy to work with. Cottage was perfectly prepped and slept a 14 person (all men!) crew with no problems. Everything worked as it should have and they want to go back someday!

Went here for a bachelor party that had about 12 people as part of the party who actually stayed at the resort. The cabin we stayed in was very dated and needed work structurally in certain areas. There were also some rooms that could've been cleaned a little more but it was fine overall.
We were right on Fox Lake, which was nice, and the yard was big enough to hang out and do some outdoor activities. If you're not from the area, though, be sure to bring what you need to the cabin ahead of time. We found that almost everything was at least 15 minutes away, including restaurants, bars, and food stores.
