Our server was overwhelmed very forgetful forgot about us. Group of 7 came in after us got food before we even got our drinks which were also wrong. When we got the bill she overcharged everything and forced potatoes that no one ate thinking our bill would be around 45 ended up being 70… after that service we will never be back…

This is my go to place for breakfast for a couple of years now. The food is always great and I always leave full. The local crowd is great and I am frequently having good conversations with patrons, quite simply I just feel at home here. The service had always been great and many of the servers here have been there as long as I have been going there. Recently the service has been poor and servers seem overwhelmed and at times arguing with each other and the kitchen, not a good look. I have also noticed the prices are going up and up. It is now a $45 breakfast for two people for just normal breaffast fare and two cups of Coffee with a tip. Yikes as much as I like it I may need to check out another place or two in comparison to make sure its worth it.

I have been coming to the cafe for many years (almost 10) and quality has been slipping ever since the owner hasn’t been cooking as much. Good old days when Lauren was still around before covid, this place was something special. The cook now is incredibly rude, his voice carries across the restaurant. I have had an occasion where food was taking incredibly long, owners sister went to check on things for us as she was concerned also, the cook yells ‘don’t be coming back here, telling me what to do or how to do things’. today when the plate was extra greasy / dripping with butter the owner goes back to provide feedback to the cook, he again loudly exclaims ‘we always cook with butter, must be their first time eating here..’. I presume the cook is family, as most are who work there which is nice, but if I had a cook, family or not, carry themselves the way he does, and talk the way he does not only to the owner but to wait staff and about customers so the whole restaurant can hear, I would have walked him out immediately.

I’m sad to say I won’t be returning, it’s unfortunate to lose a local breakfast spot our family once treasured, but it’s time to move on.

This has been a go-to place for me and my family for many years. The food is delicious, portions are large, prices are reasonable, and service is great. The owner, Sandy, and her employees treat you like family and make sure you are well taken care of. Most recently they offered baby back ribs for Father’s Day which were cooked to perfection. Really hit and miss. Food is fine, not great. The experience here largely depends on the waitress you get. Some are really on the ball and others put in no effort. Seems like the good ones have to pick up the slack for the lazy ones.

Last time I went I got a not-so-great server. As I was getting ready to leave I heard her call another staff member “Mom”. Not sure if she was the owner’s kid or something but that might explain how she got away with not trying.

A friend recommended this restaurant for breakfast and we were not disappointed! We both ordered eggs with hash rows and meat with toast! I have never had to ask for a take home box while eating breakfast until we tried here!! The eggs and meats were delicious but those hash browns were excellent and took up half the platter! Fried crispy on the outside and then flipped onto itself almost like a taco shell and seasoned perfectly! We will definitely be making more trips here in the future! Oh and if you are a 3rd shifter wanting a Bloody Mary with your breakfast, they can do that too!

Great spot for breakfast in Heartland. They have counter dining and a bunch of booths and tables. It can get busy, but they turn over tables quickly.

The food was very good. I ordered Corned Beef Hash, it came with a nice crisp edge, 2 eggs and toast.

The service was also very good, with the servers all helping each other, whether it was their table or not.

So today I made an easy decision to eat at HB Cafe. It was sad to see how run down/dirty this restaurant has gotten. I came in with my son for breakfast and asked for a highchair, the one I was told to use hasn't been wiped down in at least 6 months. This chair was disgusting. Next, the floor was so dirty and needs some attention. I feel bad because I'm sure it's due to staffing but it's sad to see such a nice place slowly going down hill. There was a staff member who was wearing pajamas and an apron, not very professional. The wait time was ridiculously long. The waitress was great! She saw my little boy was getting antsy and went to the kitchen to check on our food. The food is still fairly good, so that's a plus! One last thing, with the kitchen being so close, the cooks need to be more quiet. You can hear their conversations from your table and their language isn't the best for work. I really hope this place takes some initiative and effort to make this place how it used to be!

I have reviewed this place twice before and was dumb enough to go back I reviewed it about 8 months ago and again probably a little over a year ago. All my complaints about slow service terrible coffee refills time waiting when there's rarely anybody in the place is kind of ridiculous. The last time last week that I was here I ordered after a 20-minute wait with not many people in there and I ordered two over medium eggs one was completely hard in theyolk my entire time and there was about 45 minutes I had one coffee refill which is typical for this place they had two waitresses which is crazy because nobody came over and on top of the bad eggs the toast was ice cold when it got to me and not very well toasted it was so light it might have been bread the only thing it was worth it was the corned beef hash but I think I'm just about done with this place I mean I gave him three chances in every time they totally disappointed completely with the horrible service and not always correct orders. Compared to at least three different restaurants right down the road in Waukesha this place is service and response time and actually the time to get the food out is really not even comparable just so disappointing when I'm used a good breakfast

The staff here is great! Everyone says hi and is very friendly. Our waitress was very quick and checked on us a plethora of times during our visit. I learned they make your hash browns fresh and it takes a little longer, but it's so much better! I ordered the stuffed hash browns without mushrooms and it was extremely filling. Our waitress said most people usually do not finish it, so I took that as a challenge and was able to conquer it. I highly recommend coming here if you want a cute local place with personality and very reasonable prices! Quick note, all food items are $1 more then the menu says but the items are not super expensive as is!

The customers sitting at the counter we’re going behind the counter helping themselves to numerous items including a boy that stuck his hand in the ice tub to get ice ( not using a utensil). Food is mediocre and pricing is higher than advertised. My 2 kids shared the 2 pieces of French toast with eggs. Menu we saw said $8.99 but we were charged $9.99 and $1.00 extra plate. Everything on bill was more than what menu said. It’s okay to increase pricing but let the customer know ahead of time! I asked the waiter and she said everything is a dollar more than the menu. I ordered 2 pieces of French toast which was advertised as $6.99. I was charged $8.24. I asked for fruit to put on top. I was brought a small soup cup with blueberries and strawberries that they charged me $7.79 for. Prices are ridiculous. Would NEVER go back. Stay away. Deceptive business practices.

This mentality of, "We close whenever we want to close" is very poor customer service. Online it states closes at 2pm. I arrived by 140pm to purchase a gift card for my sister who recently moved to Hartland, to find a sign on door saying closed.
