I went to Highland House on August 6 and about noon for lunch. I was with two other people and the overall service that we got first as a disabled individual. I had to go in through the site entrance, walk completely through the entire restaurant to then walk to the back of the restaurant and not even get a table appropriate for me. We ordered our food and everything you know beyond being inappropriately seated everything was going good. I mean up until this point our our service was you know but the atmosphere was good. Things were good until things got real ugly. The first ugly thing that happened was in trying to order two side flour tortillas we were told that is not possible by someone named Nate, who obviously didn’t know what he was talking about, because the manager Frank then proceeded to tell us that we could have gotten two side flour tortillas. My lunch was brought out to me and there was no knife to cut my burger in half and it was gigantic as I ordered the hangover burger however it’s had to sit somewhere for a while because the cheese was like no longer melted like it had gone back to being a brick of cheese and the jalapeño on the top was not good. So I ended up having to wait 10 maybe 12 minutes for our server to come back out, with other peoples food, but no knife as she wasn’t even checking up on if everything was okay. Then when I asked for the knife again, she then told me that she had forgotten I needed the knife. I then asked for am manager. This is when I met manager Frank. He apologized for our problems prior to hearing us tell him our problems. After hearing the events we’ve had, he apologized again, said they took my lunch off the receipt. Then proceeded to say we should of asked for kitchen staff to cut my burger before serving it. Then said that with regards to ordering two side flour tortillas. That kitchen staff wouldn’t cut the tortillas cut the tortillas but, we would get what we wanted. I was shocked to learn manager frank blamed us for our service. When asked directly, are you blaming me for your service today, he started to back pedal. Then we were not given directions on how to return to the handicapped exit, walked past two dinning areas, the bar, 3 more dining areas to get to the handicapped exit. Lastly I’ve gone to this same restaurant before

Fun experience with a great outdoor patio. A bit too much Canadian smoke to eat outdoors, but good enough for a cocktail after dinner inside. Food is different than traditional Mexican. The Southwest egg rolls ruled the appetizer combo. Not much spice, but plenty of flavor. The pork belly tacos with rice and beans are really good. They come with a chicharron on top, and some funk from the cotija cheese. Also tried the salmon which was grilled and got the sauce on the side. No time for dessert this time. Service was a bit lacking. Maybe someone called in or something. Service had a smile, but was nowhere to be found most of the time. Food came out fast though, so kitchen staff was on point.

While it seems like a fun, sort of "mom and pop Margaritaville" type spot for dinner on a Friday or Saturday, with inoffensive/unobtrusive food, cold drinks, and a party vibe, Tuesday lunch service drew a sparse crowd, still inoffensive/unobtrusive food (despite the generous portion sizes that we were warned about), and a sleepy vibe as though it had just woken up and realized there was someone there who wanted lunch. No problems or issues, fair prices, friendly enough service.

This was my first time to the Highland House and it did not disappoint me at all. The atmosphere was great, very family oriented, but also great for just two or four people to hang out and enjoy a nice meal and conversation. Went with my mom over Memorial Day weekend to this restaurant and she had the Taco Bowl.. Next day she was throwing up sick. Whatever had happened from eating here it almost caused her to pass out too. That has NEVER happened before, going to this restaurant, and honestly it feels like the quality of this place is going down. Also, when I ordered the chicken quesadilla no other side was provided with my entree (ex: rice, beans). Every other time when I've had Mexican cuisine, at least at authentic Mexican restaurants, a complementary side of rice and/or beans has always been included with the meal.. Not charged separate! Maybe their other cuisines are fine maybe, but do not come here for any Mexican food, as theirs' is definitely NOT authentic!!

We’ve eaten here twice now. First time was very nice enjoyed the whole vibe of the place. Ordered the portabella fajitas, it was a nice option and they tasted pretty good. Second visit for me was very disappointing. I ordered the chicken enchiladas and they were horrible. Chicken was very dry and the entire plate including the rice and beans were had zero flavor. I only ate two bites and couldn’t eat anymore. We sat at the bar and you’d think the bar staff would ask how the meal was or question why I decided not to get a to go box for the full plate of food that the bartender ended up scraping into the garbage. Unfortunately it was a big enough turn off to decide not to revisit the establishment again.

What a great restaurant! We visited yesterday to celebrate our daughter graduating from Concordia University. She had been telling us how good it was. So glad we visited! We started with the Chinese Tootsie Rolls and let me tell you, they were probably one of the best appetizers I have ever eaten! For my entree, I had the shrimp & lobster enchiladas and they were fantastic! I never tasted anything like that and it was just great. My and daughters all really enjoyed their meals. Neat place that is conveniently located between where I live and Milwaukee. The food is basic at best. You have to pay for chips and salsa which I've never had to do before. That was my first warning. The rice and beans were very basic tasting. The rice tasted like box yellow rice with a packet of sazon in it. The baja fish tacos were not that great either. The sauce they had overpowered every flavor in the taco. There were times I forgot there was other things in the taco other than baja sauce. I don't recommend this location for Mexican cuisine.

The margarita wasn't strong, but the presentation was fun. The seasoning on the chips were good and also came with a crema sauce that reminded me of Costcos.

The shrimp tacos were good, but I'd try something else next time. I didn't like how sweet the sauce was. Honestly, reminded me of Costcos frozen coconut shrimp & and sauce, too. The rice and beans were good!

We visited the Highland House this past Friday night for a family business outing, and it was nothing short of amazing! The food, drinks, and hospitality were absolutely top-notch. Carter, the bartender, went above and beyond—he truly made our night! If anyone thinks differently, that’s their problem because Carter is exceptional. There was another bartender working as well (didn’t catch his name), and he was fantastic, too. Our tab was around $500, and it was worth every penny. Thanks to the whole team for such a great experience! We’ll definitely be back!

First of all, the TOGO chips and salsa are a MUST. Their "famous chip seasoning" is famous for a reason. It's addicting! I would have totally been happy just having these as my meal. Instead, I ordered the seemingly bottomless Fajita Bowl with steak. The bowl was huge with a fair amount of steak, although I would have liked a little bit more. There was plenty of rice and beans as the base, and the onions and peppers were a classic compliment. The entire dish was well seasoned and very tasty, making it just as good next day.

I’m leaving three stars as I’ve ordered delivery from this place multiple times and it’s usually great, so I don’t want to reduce my experience to this single order. Unfortunately for the first time I was disappointed. Ordered the Mexico City Shrimp and my corn cakes were burnt and so soggy from the oil pool at the bottom of the container they were falling apart. The avacado was old and turned brown already. The shrimp was dripping oil and inedible. I had to throw it away no part was salvageable.

I have been going to the Highland House for 35 years. For the last 6 months they have been not only declining in their meals but also their hospitality. Not sure we will continue to spend money at this restaurant anymore. I'm pretty disappointed when this has been one of very few restaurants I have loved for most of my life.

Food is fine, occasionally good. But the service here just can't keep up. Constantly told there's a 20-30 minute wait despite tons of open tables everywhere. Not sure if it's a staffing issue or what but they routinely look annoyed whenever we come in. Easy decision to take our support elsewhere.

Great restaurant with a great atmosphere. My wife and I stopped in for lunch after golf up the road and sat out on the patio; honestly, I couldn't have had a better place to enjoy a beer on a sunny afternoon. Waitstaff was super friendly as well.
