I chose Holiday Acres for my wedding, even though I had never been there before, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I wanted a serene, cabin-style setting in Wisconsin where both our big families could come togetherβ€”and this place was perfect.

From the moment we arrived, it felt like stepping back in time. The property is beautiful, the lake is stunning, and the atmosphere is calm, cozy, and full of warmth. The staff went above and beyond, and Carol, the events coordinator, was so helpful and patient with all my questions.

The resort has so much character, the gift shop is adorable, and the entire experience created memories we’ll cherish forever. I cannot wait to come back with my husband, create new memories, and continue sharing this special place with our familyβ€”it truly holds a near and dear place in our hearts.

The location was nice but the front desk staff are very inappropriately dressed and very unprofessional behavior observed towards people entering the office. NOT APPROPRIATE FOR CHILDREN AT ALL.

If you’re looking for a nostalgic family summer getaway, this is the place! The wood-paneled cabins are modest but clean, the trails and boat docks are well maintained, and there’s both an indoor pool and a beach to enjoy. We loved the sunken bar at the restaurant on property (the old fashioneds were fantastic), and the kids ordered the ribs both nights we went to dinner, they were that good. Overall, we had a wonderful weekend!

My wife and I stayed there Wednesday night. The last time that I was there was 40 years ago. It was everything you could ever want in a relaxing place to visit. The scenery, the accomidations and the super attentive staff are excellent. The only thing I was confused about is the menu seemed limited during the week. No steaks or maybe I was reading the menu wrong. Anyway our meal of seared scallops was very good along with the dessert. Next time we are staying for a whole week. I can't wait to get back there!

I went there as a kid in the late 60's and then later with my own children in the late 80's. We haven't been there since 2011 but the place is timeless. Spent some time with my son and daughter-in-law and the grandchildren. Three Coins restaurant was as good as ever. The staff and menu was very kid-friendly. The kids loved the beach AND pool. My son had a cabin right on the beach and we stayed in the lodge. Although it is 200 miles from Milwaukee, it was well worth the drive.

We stayed here for three nights a couple of weeks ago. Booking and check in was simple. The staff are very nice and accommodating. The grounds are very well maintained. There is an indoor swimming pool, tennis courts, a kids play area, a beach, and many trails. We stayed in the lodge. The room was large. We were picking up my son from camp and I though we would have to share a room, but it was large enough that we ran out and bought a cheap air mattress so he could have his own bed. There are cabins on the property, a supper club, and a coffee bar, but we did not try any of those. The resort was quite busy. There were groups of all ages. While our room was large, the bathroom was very dated and in need of a renovation. There was a binder highlighting aspects of the lodge, but some of the pages had mold growing on them. I thought there was daily room cleaning, but our room was never touched. Perhaps I missed something. Definitely a place to check out if you are looking for lodging in the area.

Beautiful setting and kind atmosphere. Very attentive staff made us all feel special. The food was exquisite and presentation exceptional. I will never think of a Mother’s Day brunch the same. It’s not a buffet! It’s a sit down service of beautiful and delicious courses. Hats off to Chef Eric and his entire staff. You all made our day!

We have stayed here several times over the last 40 years and one thing that is so consistent is the friendliness of the staff. We stay in the motel which is clean and nice. If you are used to a Hilton or Hyatt you may be disappointed. This is a Northwoods motel, the rooms are clean but dated, personally we like that as the resort is right on a lake and has many acres of land to walk around on and enjoy the quiet yet is only minutes from town. Why stay in a chain motel on the highway overlooking a parking lot when you can relax in a quiet wooded setting. They also have a great restaurant and bar attached with good food, great service and good drink.

i ordered the chicken pesto pasta with chicken and no blue cheese. my wife ordered the steak ceaser salad. our open toed sandals and socks server brought mine with no chicken and with blue cheese. I asked if that was correct and she stated the piece of toast on my plate was the chicken. it was indeed toast. roughly 25 mins later I was brought the missing chicken. I truly believe my wife was served someone's old steak from a cooler as it wasn't cooked to medium well like she asked and it was cold to the touch. like it just came out of a cooler and didn't get reheated all the way. it wasnt just not hot, it was cold. they offered to take the steak pieces out of her salad and 'work on it' in the kitchen. so she didn't finish the salad or steak and when my piece of chicken came out we just got my plate to go. waitress was very apologetic. but we still had to pay full price (over $60) for just the 2 of us. pretty disappointing to say the least. Those aren't even half the issues we encountered last night, but will leave it at that.

Holiday Acres in Rhinelander WI was a great find for our trip. We needed a couple of rooms last minute and the staff (Carol, Alex, Sunny) took very good care of us 100 % !!! We also rented their pontoon for two evening cruises around Thompson Lake & then dinner at the amazing Three Coins Restaurant on property! It was like one stop shopping and all very affordable. |The lodge rooms were comfortable and quiet w fridge, microwave & coffee maker. The lodge also has a really big indoor pool and a nice sauna. Very family friendly. We will try to make reservations for a cabin next time. They looked very nice and comfortable, thanks again Holiday Acres for the hospitality, we enjoyed every second!

Come here every year. Excellent getaway for family. Great bar, great beach, friendly helpful staff. Food's great in the dining room. Coffeeshop fare has been reimagined a few times since the pandemic, but the coffee and espresso is consistently delicious - thanks Hodag Pete! This year the coffeeshop has breakfast tacos that were just the best, so I do hope they stay on the menu. Both pork and vegan chorizo options - chef's kiss! Can't wait till next year.

Third generation of family run resort. owners are involved, on-site and interacting/conversing with guests…even manning the grill on cookout night when the restaurant was closed and guests were invited to bring their own meat/beverage which would be cooked for them while the sides were provided by the resort. stayed in a Lodge room which was spacious and includes fridge, micro, coffee maker. clean room, hot shower. heated indoor pool, gift shop, tennis/pickleball facilities, lakeside cabins and restaurant (limited days open), breakfast cafe and gift shop. Northwoods rustic which is what you expect this far North and why you go there.

We stayed at rhe resort overnight while we were in town for the softball tournament at the Hodag dome. We enjoyed the northwoods feel of the facility but were franky disgusted with the cleanliness of the room. While we understand the atmosphere of the lodge is definitely "up north" and "rural", that doesnt excuse a lack of cleanliness.Β  Β |||We stayed in room 106. When my daughter pulled out the sleeper sofa she found the matress full of stains. Β  She refused to sleep on it so I, a full grown adult that didnt fit, spent the night on the love seat.Β  |||The thermostat was also terrible. If we'd set the temperature to 73 it didnt take long for the room to drop to the upper 60s. We had to fiddle with it all night to try and keep "comfortable".Β Β |||The fabric covered chairs were also badly stained and not something I'd allow a guest in my house to sit on.|||Again, we really do understand the quaint style of the resort, but our room was just gross.

Stayed here for a weekend for son’s baseball tournament. Very vintage, up north feel and I loved it! Rooms are more spacious than your average hotel room. Linens and towels were clean. Very large, clean pool. Had a room for our families to gather and use when we ordered pizza. Breakfast was provided and was delicious. Guys went out ice fishing on the lake. Snowmobile trail goes right through the property and the parking lot has plenty of room to park trucks and snowmobile trailers. The only bummer is they do not provide housekeeping during your stay. I totally recommend this place and would come back again!

We love Holiday Acres Resort! We have been to Holiday Acres Resort once before and just recently they saved us from what would have been a terrible vacation. My husband and I booked a cabin somewhere that only had children's bunk beds. Thankfully, I remembered we were not too far from Holiday Acres and desperate to save our trip, I called late that night. Ella answered and was the kind and friendly voice I needed to hear. She was a lifesaver and got us set up with a room for the rest of the week! Thank you again, Ella!!!

We had a wonderful time at Holiday Acres Resort! We swam, rented a pontoon, my husband fished, we rented bikes, enjoyed the beautiful trails nearby, ate delicious food at their restaurant twice, relaxed with drinks at the bar, enjoyed the gorgeous sunsets and had the little getaway we have been needing!
I would absolutely recommend Holiday Acres Resort and we are already daydreaming about the cottage we will book when we return!

Dropped in at 5:30 pm on a Friday due to taking my mother in law to her 1958 class reunion. We were looking for a good place to eat while waiting for her and was told they were great. We didn't have a reservation but the hostess and server accommodated us special and brought us amazing steakes and drinks. We were so thankful and moved to the bar when finished to make room for the 6:30 reservation someone else made. We had a couple more drinks from the nice bartender and were on our way. Thank you for an amazing dinner and for being so very nice to my husband and I.

This was our 3rd family vacation at Holiday Acres and again it did not disappoint. The cottages remind me of my grandparents cottage when I was a child, rustic but you fill it with family and fun. The restaurant was excellent and our server Emily was the best, be sure to ask for her when you dine. Luke is a great bartender and entertainer, we also enjoyed spending time at the bar with Karen. We reserved 3 cabins (20-21-22) for our family. Our time was so enjoyable that we booked again for next year. Loved the Tuesday night cookout with other guest. Very safe place to let your kids and grandkids to swim and explore. Many thanks to Kim and his staff for a great vacation

Unfortunately, our stay wasn't the greatest. I think many of the things that I am about to say would have been looked at differently if our unit was clean. For us, that is the most important thing and at almost $300 per night (includes pet fee), we expect that. We saw some pretty disgusting things. Staff reacted quickly and offered to clean the room, we really just wanted to leave but stayed and made the best of it.

Positives - staff is really nice and apologetic. There are some amenities that during the summer months would make this a neat place. Unfortunately, many of these had ended 1-2 weeks prior to our stay. I guess we should have expected that. There is a beach and a nice lake. In the office, there is equipment to use in the provided boats as well. The view outside our unit was nice.

Negatives - our room had green stuff splattered down the side of the fridge, first thing I saw. There was long black hair in several places. The dirty dust pan was on top of the refrigerator - gross. There were mouse droppings or dirt in the kitchen drawers and in the drying rack that was under the sink. That night, my husband pulled back the blanket and saw several more pieces of long black hair and dirt on the sheets that could have been scraped off (not stains). There was also hair in the fridge. Our 5 yo was running around barefoot in the cottage and his feet were BLACK. You could see the dirt on the floors and our dog was crawling under the beds and pulling out stale kids snacks like goldfish. Our same kid was doing head stands into the couch, and was coming up with dog hair on his head. The last day, my husband found a long white hair. There were cobwebs in the kitchen and bugs on the fireplace mantle. Several spiders were found in my husband's tennis shoes on the final morning.

These things would probably have been ok, but need some attention. The pool was extremely cold and the adjacent changing room needs a lot of work. There is mold growing on the ceiling in the corner above the shower (womens). The bathroom stall door does not stay closed. The only way to get in/out of the pool is via the ladders so not very nice for people who have difficulties climbing ladders. Most pools have walk-in steps. Trash for adjacent unit was not picked up despite the unit being empty the whole weekend. We ended up using their dumpsters some so I guess it worked out. One big suggestion would be to make navigation easier. Our gps brought us around to the "back" of the resort. It sounds like this might be common so I would put up some signage on how to find your way to the office. There are sooo many buildings, it didn't jump out at us where to go. The kitchen is stocked with your basic dishes but no knife to cut vegetables with (serrated only). No paper toweling, no dish cloths. No cleaning supplies.

I want to repeat that the staff are really nice. It made it really hard to write this review but I think it was necessary and hopefully they don't brush this off but actually listen to what we have to say. All in all, we likely would not return which stinks because for many reasons, I want to love this place.

Our room was filthy and outdated. There was old water in the coffee maker. The mattress has likely not been changed since the building was built. Over a four day stay, we did not see a single staff member. The only question asked upon check-out was whether we needed a receipt. We stopped in the lounge on Saturday night and the bartender was too busy complaining about making ice cream drinks to serve us. It’s a beautiful area, but please stay anywhere else to truly enjoy your vacation!

My family and I have been staying in a cabin at the Holiday Acres Resort for many years in a row. We began when my son was just a toddler, and now he is 25 years old. This resort has everything! Cabins, hotel rooms, access to Lake Thompson with many piers, basketball and tennis courts, a playground, an indoor pool, a restaurant, horseback riding (up the road) at Holiday Stables, and much much more. Everyone is very nice and the owner, Kim, is the best. We will not go anywhere else when we are up in that area. Oh, and the price is right on par with other resorts in the area. Go ahead and book a stay. You will love it! I promise.

Had a delightful 2 night stay in one of the cabins. It was great to be able to bring the dog and be able to cook. We enjoyed the fire place the fresh snow ans friendly people. Brought back great memories of our wedding 8 plus years ago.

We recently stayed here, four years after our first stay here. Back four years ago I wrote a review about how dirty it was and the management apologized and said this wasn’t their norm. Well, fast forward to now and a second chance, and I can say nothing has changed. What’s the saying?? Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice… For a bunch of fishing guys this might be a great place, but for a family with little kids, it is not great. The cabin was filthy. The bedding was clean and presentable but the cleanliness of the walls, windows and floors were terrible. We had to re-clean the cabin in order to stay there. Our little one was found eating some candy (which we did not bring) and we found a bunch of old candy pieces under the bed with about five years of filth and dirt that had never been vacuumed. The knotty pine walls were so full of webs and dust, it appeared they had never been vacuumed or washed down. The tops of outlet boxes and light switches were covered in dirt and dust. Not a single window worked, and some of the screens just fell out of the windows, other windows that tilted in, had broken hardware and just fell in towards the floor, making for a dangerous situation for a toddler. Curtains were ripped and had holes and the heavy drapes over the big windows (which were covered in fingerprints from the previous guests), were black and needed a good washing. For over $300/night we expected more. Upon checkout, no one ever asked how was our stay? It did not appear anyone really cared if things went well or not. This resort may have been something back in the day but it is long overdue for a good, deep cleaning and major repairs. As an avid northwoods vacationer for over 20 years, I have experienced cabin living many times. I know the difference between northwoods sand and pine needles and filth. This was filth.

Had a great time. There was a scheduling conflict and they called to inform us we had been upgraded (way upgraded) for free. Even though the upgrade was way better than what we expected, they still apologized for their error. If you appreciate customer service, you MUST stay at Holiday Acres Resort.

Lovely family owned/run resort, pleasant setting, rustic cabins (getting a bit long in the tooth in places), but a "homey" feel about it.
Lake Thompson is nice, as are the adjacent woods and biking trails nearby for finding solitude from the masses. Beach area is small and can get congested with all the parents and little kids around.
Food is adequate at the restaurant, bright bar, fun pickleball courts, good clean, safe family hangout

An absolutely beautiful resort tucked back in the Northwoods. Large outdoor area with so many activities! Small play ground w/ 2 swings, tennis courts, basketball hoops. You can rent a boat, and cabins that are located on this here. They also have a small beach!

Great Northwood feeling, great place to make memories with family. Boating was fun and the kids had a good time fishing off the dock. Beach was the best, great for all ages and especially smaller children. The atmosphere at the bar was only enhanced by the best bartender Luke, he was not only a great bartender, but also entertaining. The food was done to perfection and very good. Finished our family vacation by booking it again next year. Shout out to Randy who made our stay the best.

My family has been coming here for the last 15 years. It is a must everyear! Holiday acres is the full package, they have everything. Tennis and basketball court, hiking trails, indoor pool , a beach and 2 restaurants. There hospitality is exceptional. We recently stayed in a cabin. It was perfect, charming, clean and spacious also pet friendly. We have made many memories and will continue to do so.

Easily the most iconic resort in Oneida county! You wont find a more authentic northwoods experience, so don't even bother. The restaurant and hospitality never disappoint either. Highly recommended!

Stayed here for the weekend with my wife and son in the hotel part. Staff was friendly when checking in and explained everything I needed to know. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The grounds are well kept and there is a boat landing with easy access. Didn't get a chance to eat at the restaurant but I've heard great things from past guests who stayed. Definitely will be looking to come back and check out renting a cabin!
