I really wanted to like this place, but the experience was disappointing. We were told the food would take about 30–35 minutes. After ordering at 7pm, we didn’t get our food until around 8:35pm. When I asked about the delay, the bartender admitted she had been wrong about the wait time — then proceeded to “explain how a grill works” to me because their grill is small. The explanation came off as condescending and unnecessary.

While she did comp our drinks, that didn’t make up for the poor communication and long wait. If we’d been given an honest estimate upfront, we would have gone somewhere else. Transparency and respect go a long way — unfortunately, we didn’t feel either here.

They were able to put our food to-go as requested. Unfortunately I had to ask the status of our food after the 1 hour 20 mark. Picture for reference of our cold, mediocre food that we waiting almost triple the original wait time.

On 3 separate occasions, my establishment had asked to accommodate a fellow establishment during a community event and we were denied. We were not even allowed to order drinks while we waited for our Togo order. She was too busy taking shots to deal with existing customers. That is absolutely wild to me as someone trying to bring business to a new name in Appleton area. Very selfish and unprofessional behavior if you ask me.

Wife and I stopped out last week during the Light the Night fest downtown. Hands down my new favorite burger spot in Appleton. The burger was delicious, the garlic curds were perfect and the service was prompt and friendly without being overly cloying and making us feel rushed. Love this place and will be back for many more delicious burgers!

Home Burger Bar is a cool place that slings inventive burgers in addition to the basics. They do the same thing with hot dogs, too. Can't wait to try another. If you try one as well, I'm pretty sure what you'll say, "Now, that's a tasty burger..." Bomb curds and friendly folks, too.

​I have revised my original review; I felt it was necessary.

Both my friend and I stopped here for lunch because we had heard good things about their burgers. Unfortunately, both of us were very disappointed. The menu claims that the burgers are 1/3 pound, but they are maybe 1/4 at best; I would compare them more to smash patties. Both of us ordered medium burgers and they both came out well done. The burgers were low-quality frozen patties; unseasoned and flavorless. Most other places that serve good burgers in Appleton use fresh hamburgers. Apparently, this place can't be bothered, they can't afford it, or they simply don't care. Our other biggest complaint would be that they don't include a side with their burgers; fries are not very expensive and, at the very least, they should be an included side. The owner, a very mean and disrespectful woman, said most of their customers don't want a side, so they don't include a side because they don't want to waste food. How exactly are they wasting food if they include a side for those who want a side and withhold a side for those who don't? At least include fries as a side option for those who want them; nothing is wasted. Her reasoning for not including a side makes absolutely no sense. let's be honest, they don't include a side because they want to charge you more money. $11 for a frozen burger with no side is ridiculous.

I ordered the Beer Dip Badger burger; smashed fried cheese curds, homemade spotted cow beer dip, crispy onion strips, and a pretzel bun. The toppings I received were minimal; three very small onion strips, a few smashed cheese curds, and a sauce that tasted like store-bought thousand island dressings. I was unimpressed.

The owner responded to my original review, as I'm sure she will respond to this one, and was extremely hostile and insulting. She basically told me I had no taste and that she was okay with me not being a future customer; the audacity that I would leave a review saying that I did not like my burger. How dare I. She claimed that her burgers were not your average run-of-the-mill burgers and "Look at all the toppings you received", as if toppings are what make a quality burger. I can name a dozen other burger joints in Appleton that have better burgers than the one I had here. I think she is a little full of herself.

I had no plans to ever return, but after dealing with the owner, I wouldn't even consider returning. I will, however, make it a point to let everyone I know or meet in the future not to eat here.

And P.S. I love Culver's. They have better burgers than this place does.

Went here for my birthday last night. The service was top notch (I believe the server's name was Brandi ?) the General Tso burger was possibly one of the best if not THE best burger I have ever had. Swung down to the Green Bay/Appleton area in October '24 to look for a new (to me) car, well, we ended up in new wheels by the time we started to look for a cool burger joint in Appleton (where we got a room for the night).

Yelp led us to the Home Burger Bar and we were not disappointed. I'm going to be honest, as I write this review now i only remember that both my partner and I got unique sounding burgers. At first we were a little worried when our burgers came because it was clear that they used premade patties from a distributor. Fortunately, Home understands the assignment if you are going to do that and the toppings are TOP NOTCH quality and you forget that you have a "generic" burger (unseasoned, all cooked to the same temp) in the middle. Honestly, that was straight impressive.

The atmosphere of Home is very Midwestern bar, in a bigger city I could see this place being considered "divey," but it was definitely clean, had an appropriate beer list for pairing, and a decent selection of liquor and cocktails. We like to explore, but I have a feeling we'll be back when we decide to chill in Appleton in the future.

Went later in the evening thinking it might not be too busy, but being on college Ave there is always something going on. Was promptly greeted and told it might be a few minutes for a spot to sit. Had to wait a few minutes for a couple spots at the bar to open up, but was served immediately after sitting down. Bartender was very pleasant. Had a couple of delicious cocktails and ordered the general tso's burger, my friend had the dill pickle burger and we split truffle fries. I had heard the burgers are amazing and that is an understatement! Great assortment of interesting burgers (and hotdogs) and also some more common burgers for the less adventurous. Food was perfect and did not take very long to get after ordering. Atmosphere is very cool inside. 10/10 would recommend. Have to go back and try more of the different burgers

I have been to Home Burger Bar many times and they've never done me wrong, and when they announced the expanded hot dog menu, I had to try them immediately.

I ordered the Shar Pei hot dog because, I don't know what it is about their rangoon topping, but it's fantastic so I needed it on a hot dog.

First thing, it's a nice size dog in a massive bun. You have to almost unhinge your jaw snake style to get a full bite. Trust me, there's categories on adult sites for how graphic it is to eat this thing...so I hear...

HOWEVER...taste from the rangoon toppings, to the Salmon's Meats hot dog to the Simple Simon bun work incredibly well and the hot dog was amazing. I can't recommend it enough.

Went here for the first time yesterday! setting was pretty busy around 4 o'clock. We sat down and where helped right away.. service was good! Ordered the cheesecurds with ranch for the app, and the Cowboy burger with fries for the main meal, the wait for it was about 30 minutes but that was pretty obvious with how many people were there. Now for the disappointing part; the food... I'll start with my plate. The burger just seemed very bland and boring.. the flavor just wasn't popping out like some other burgers I've had before. The fries, they tasted very good it was just a very small portion, they all probably could have fit in the palm of my hand. My girlfriend ordered the chick sandwich and asked for it grilled, it came out crispy.. we figured not to say anything as the wait would be so long again, she also said it was very bland.. unfortunately but not the worst I've had!

I came here with my partner and 1-year-old at 6 on a Saturday night and miraculously got a table right when we walked in! Service was quick so nobody was waiting long for tables while we were there. Creative burgers that are delicious. The staff are very fun and personable even when it's busy. We went during a "bobs burgers" theme night and it was packed. We still had great service and the costumes were great!

This place was delicious! Will definitely go back again! They have all KINDS of burgers or chicken sandwiches to try from! Highly recommend the Big Dill! We have kids aged 7 and 8 and they enjoyed the food too! And for those little ones who are picky eaters they did have chicken tenders. I don't think I would take kids younger than this here as it is more of a bar setting with higher tables and as far as I know, no high chairs. Next time we go will be for date night when we go back to Appleton again!

First time here and we went with the bartender/waitress's first choice of burger which was the Crab Rangoon burger. I chose the spicy cheese curds and he chose the Truffle Fries for our sides. We loved that they carried Angry Orchard and I was able to try strawberry gin for the first time!! Signature cocktail Gin & Juice (strawberry Gin with lemonade) it was sooo good! 🤤 Atmosphere is great as a bar...as a "restaurant" it's not as secluded. You are right in the open at tables surrounding the bar. Which didn't really bother us...but we are booth type ppl usually lol. We will definitely go back to try a different burger and next time will be a big order of the truffle fries...those were THE BEST fries EVER!

I have eaten here 2x now and the food is always amazing! The truffle fries with garlic aioli have my cravings making me come back often and everything has been great and the people have all been great!
