Great place to go and have a nice hangout with friends! Hall in back is very spacious and pretty, owners and bartenders are very friendly and let you go back there if you need more table space for your group! The owner is extremely stingy, do not waste your money on appetizers here. I ordered the onion rings, and it was a complete scam: a handful at best, like a child’s portion. Imagine skimping on an onion to save a buck. When I tried to return them, the owner refused, and I had to bargain just to get a small discount.

The fish fry was even worse. The baked cod and “poor man’s lobster” arrived sitting in a bowl of water with no seasoning, no flavor, and just a sprinkle of parsley. Honestly, it seemed microwaved. Check out last week’s review, I’m not the only one saying this. We also thought it was weird we received our food in record time…makes you think….

The fried fish was slightly better but still underwhelming. It lacked seasoning, tasted like it had been sitting out, and the rye bread was served cold.

Overall, this place is not worth the money. I won’t be back and I can’t wait to try Cheeks instead.

P.S. Stop micromanaging and give your workers the power to make things right. Nobody should have to beg the owner for approval to comp a side of onion rings. Gordon Ramsay, please rescue this kitchen nightmare.

Kurt, if your food was as overcooked as your reply, maybe it would’ve had some flavor. Let’s get a few things straight:

We didn’t “eat all the onion rings.” Six of them were fused into one greasy asteroid, and splitting them apart was more work than eating them. We asked for a refund on the onion rings only, not the whole meal. Big difference.

Calling it the “cheapest option” doesn’t change the fact it was bad. Cheap or not, I still expect edible food.

Nobody brought up reselling food, so the “health violation” excuse is nonsense. I just didn’t want to pay $8 for fried glue.

Asking the bartender twice about a refund isn’t harassment. Also, if you trusted your team, you wouldn’t feel the need to publicly question her decisions.

And that line about me wanting “fish for free”? Hilarious. Nothing says “professional” like an owner writing a google manifesto to clap back at a customer

Saturday we set up a luncheon for family after the burial of my father.
My wife and I were impressed with how accommodating they were to our requests. The table settings and flower center peices were beautiful. The family enjoyed the meal and the service was excellent.

My son's "home cut fries" were raw. They were maybe slightly cooked but raw potato in potato in the middle. My son wouldn't eat them and was still hungry. So I mentioned it to our waitress. A different staff member actually came to our table to question our claim and asked to physically see and hold a fry. I'm guessing to make sure we weren't making it up. (Not sure why anyone would lie about French fries). On top of that, my baked fish was sitting in watery butter, zero seasoning, no lemon provided. 1st time I've ever seen baked fish served with tarter sauce. I wanted to use it to get some sort of flavor on my watery fish. But it had a black hair in it. That was it for me. Never returning. Not worth the $70 dollars.

Today we stopped by for the 3rd time since under new ownership. First time fish fry was good. They were busy and service was good. We sat in the bar area and service was good. Second time we sat at the bar and had burgers, good juicy burgers. This time we came on Sunday afternoon and tried their chicken buffet. This was some darn good chicken! Not heavily breaded, but had good flavor! Plenty of home cooking sides on the buffet; real mashed and gravy, beans, stuffing, Mac n cheese potato salad and a few other salad and sides. Definitely will be returning. If you haven’t yet, give Homeatead on 52 a try.

Went there for their Sunday buffet. Fast and friendly service. Started out with the chicken noodle soup. Soup was hot and seasoned very well. The chicken was well done and very tasty. Cabbage rolls were also very good. We ended up taking some home even. The rest of the amenities also met with our groups approval. Highly recommended for a Sunday local buffet.

It took forever to get any service in the bar when we came around 6:00 last Friday night. My husband ordered a bottle of Miller Lite and later asked for another, but was told they were out! Seriously??? The bartenders were anything but friendly, and were very slow.
We had a table reserved for 16 people ahead of time. We sat down somewhat after 6:15. There were only several other tables having fishfrys that night. They took our orders and we were told they were out of baked potatoes!! How can that be?? Potatoes are a main staple at any restaurant!! The wait for our food was very lengthly, resulting in all of us getting a free drink. My three piece baked fish was in chunks in a tiny high rimmed little cup, with barely a drop of melted butter under the fish. My husband ordered four pieces of baked fish, but it looked identical to my three piece baked fish. The coleslaw was tasty, but it was served in a tiny metal cup that is used for drawn butter. It had only about a tablespoon of shredded coleslaw in it. The container was so tiny that you had to hold it while taking it out with your fork. As a result, the coleslaw was on your fingers!
I don't feel they were organized for this amount of 16 people,
and questioned how they handle wedding meals!! They were not busy in the dining room, so the long wait was questionable. We was very disappointed not only with the bar service, but with the restaurant as well. They need to be better supplied and equipped with beverages and food on Friday nites to accommodate their customers.
